Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Yisrael, [that] Chizqiyyah the son of Achaz king of Yehudah began to reign. |

he when he began to reign;°°
and he reigned°°

and nine°
years°

His mother's°

also [was]

Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Yerushalaim. His mother's name also [was] Avi, the daughter of Zekharyah. |

[that which was] right°
in the sight°
of

יָהוֶה,°
according to all°
that°
Däwiđ
דָּוִד°
his father°
did.°° |

And he did [that which was] right in the sight of Yahweh, according to all that Dawid his father did. |

the high places,°
and brake°°°
the images,°
and cut down°°°
the groves,°
and brake in pieces°°
the brasen°
serpent°
that°

had made:°°
for°
unto°
those°
days°
the children°

יִשׂרָאֵל°

burn incense°°
to it: and he called°°
it

18:4 ¶
He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brasen serpent that Mosheh had made: for unto those days the children of Yisrael did burn incense to it: and he called it Nechushtan. |

like him°

the kings°

He trusted in Yahweh Elohim of Yisrael; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Yehudah, nor [any] that were before him. |

For he clave°°
to

יָהוֶה,°
[and] departed°°
not°
from following°°
him, but kept°°
his commandments,°
which°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
commanded°°°

For he clave to Yahweh, [and] departed not from following him, but kept his commandments, which Yahweh commanded Mosheh. |

And

him; [and] he prospered°°
whithersoever°°
he went forth:°°
and he rebelled°°
against the king°
of
´Aššûr
אַשּׁוּר,°
and served°°
him not.° |

And Yahweh was with him; [and] he prospered whithersoever he went forth: and he rebelled against the king of Ashshur, and served him not. |

[even] unto°

and the borders°
thereof, from the tower°°
of the watchmen°°
to°
the fenced°

He smote the Pelishtim, [even] unto Azzah, and the borders thereof, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city. |

18:9 ¶
And it came to pass°
in the fourth°

which°
[was] the seventh°
year°

king°

came up°°
against°

and besieged°°°
it. |

18:9 ¶
And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Chizqiyyah, which [was] the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Yisrael, [that] Shalmaneser king of Ashshur came up against Shomron, and besieged it. |

And at the end°°

they took°°
it: [even] in the sixth°

חִזקִיָּה,°
that°
[is] the ninth°

And at the end of three years they took it: [even] in the sixth year of Chizqiyyah, that [is] the ninth year of Hoshea king of Yisrael, Shomron was taken. |

And the king°

´Aššûr
אַשּׁוּר°
did carry away°°°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
unto
´Aššûr
אַשּׁוּר,°
and put°°
them in
Çælaç
חְלַח°
and in
Çävôr
חָבוֹר°
[by] the river°
of
Gôzän
גּוֹזָן,°
and in the cities°
of the
Mäđîm
מָדִים:° |

And the king of Ashshur did carry away Yisrael unto Ashshur, and put them in Chelach and in Chavor [by] the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Madim: |

Because°°
they obeyed°°
not°
the voice°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
their
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים,°
but transgressed°°°
his covenant,°
[and]°
all°
that°
Möšè
מֹשֶׁה°
the servant°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
commanded,°°
and would not°
hear°°
[them], nor°
do°°
[them]. |

Because they obeyed not the voice of Yahweh their Elohim, but transgressed his covenant, [and] all that Mosheh the servant of Yahweh commanded, and would not hear [them], nor do [them]. |
|
18:13 ¶
Now in the fourteenth°°

חִזקִיָּה°
did

סַנחֵרִיב°
king°
of
´Aššûr
אַשּׁוּר°
come up°°
against°
all°
the fenced°°
cities°
of
Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה,°
and took°°
them. |

18:13 ¶
Now in the fourteenth year of king Chizqiyyah did Sancheriv king of Ashshur come up against all the fenced cities of Yehudah, and took them. |
|

And

the king°

´Aššûr
אַשּׁוּר°
to
Läȼîš
לָכִישׁ,°

I have offended;°°

And Chizqiyyah king of Yehudah sent to the king of Ashshur to Lakhish, saying, I have offended; return from me: that which thou puttest on me will I bear. And the king of Ashshur appointed unto Chizqiyyah king of Yehudah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold. |

of the temple°

יָהוֶה,°
and [from] the pillars°
which°
Çizkiyyà

had overlaid,°°
and gave°°
it to the king°
of
´Aššûr
אַשּׁוּר.° |

At that time did Chizqiyyah cut off [the gold from] the doors of the temple of Yahweh, and [from] the pillars which Chizqiyyah king of Yehudah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Ashshur. |
|
18:17 ¶
And the king°

And the king of Ashshur sent Tartan and Rav-Saris and Rav-Shaqeh from Lakhish to king Chizqiyyah with a great host against Yerushalaim. And they went up and came to Yerushalaim. And when they were come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which [is] in the highway of the fuller's field. |

And when they had called to the king, there came out to them Elyaqim the son of Chilqiyyah, which [was] over the household, and Shevna the scribe, and Yoach the son of Asaf the recorder. |

And Rav-Shaqeh said unto them, Speak ye now to Chizqiyyah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Ashshur, What confidence [is] this wherein thou trustest? |

Thou sayest,°°

[they are but] vain°
words,)°
[I have] counsel°
and strength°
for the war.°

dost thou trust,°°
that°
thou rebellest°°
against me? |

Now, behold, thou trustest upon the staff of this bruised reed, [even] upon Mitzrayim, on which if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so [is] Paroh king of Mitzrayim unto all that trust on him. |

me, We trust°°
in°

יָהוֶה°
our
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים:°
[is] not°
that he,°
whose°°
high places°
and whose altars°
Çizkiyyà
חִזקִיָּה°
hath taken away,°°
and hath said°°

יְהוּדָה°

Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם,°
Ye shall worship°°
before°
this°
altar°

Yærûšälaim

But if ye say unto me, We trust in Yahweh our Elohim: [is] not that he, whose high places and whose altars Chizqiyyah hath taken away, and hath said to Yehudah and Yerushalaim, Ye shall worship before this altar in Yerushalaim? |

18:23
Now°
therefore, I pray thee,°
give pledges°°°
to°
my

אֲדוֹן°
the king°
of
´Aššûr
אַשּׁוּר,°
and I will deliver°°
thee two thousand°
horses,°
if°
thou be able°°
on thy part to set°°
riders°°
upon°
them. |

Now therefore, I pray thee, give pledges to my adon the king of Ashshur, and I will deliver thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them. |

then wilt thou turn away°°°
the face°
of one°
captain°
of the least°
of my

אֲדוֹן°
servants,°
and put thy trust°°
on°
Mixrayim
מִצרַיִם°
for chariots°
and for horsemen?° |

How then wilt thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my adon's servants, and put thy trust on Mitzrayim for chariots and for horsemen? |

Am I now°
come up°°

place°
to destroy°°
it?

me, Go up°°

Then said Elyaqim the son of Chilqiyyah, and Shevna, and Yoach, unto Rav-Shaqeh, Speak, I pray thee, to thy servants in the Aramith language; for we understand [it]: and talk not with us in the Yehudim's language in the ears of the people that [are] on the wall. |

Until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of oil olive and of honey, that ye may live, and not die: and hearken not unto Chizqiyyah, when he persuadeth you, saying, Yahweh will deliver us. |
