קִריַת־יְעָרִים°
came,°°
and fetched up°°°
the ark°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
and brought°°
it into°
the house°
of
´Ávînäđäv
אֲבִינָדָב°
in the hill,°
and sanctified°°
´El`äzär
אֶלעָזָר°
his son°
to keep°°°
the ark°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה.° |

7:1 ¶
And the men of Qiryath-Yearim came, and fetched up the ark of Yahweh, and brought it into the house of Avinadav in the hill, and sanctified Elazar his son to keep the ark of Yahweh. |

And it came to pass,°
while°°
the ark°
abode°°
in
Kiryaŧ Yæ`ärîm
קִריַת־יְעָרִים,°
that the time°
was long;°°
for it was°
twenty°
years:°
and all°
the house°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
lamented°°
after°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה.° |

7:2
And it came to pass, while the ark abode in Qiryath-Yearim, that the time was long; for it was twenty years: and all the house of Yisrael lamented after Yahweh. |
|
7:3 ¶
And

שְׁמוּאֵל°
spake°°
unto°
all°
the house°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
saying,°°
If°
ye°
do return°°
unto°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
with all°
your hearts,°
[then] put away°°°
the strange°
´élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים°
and
`Aštärôŧ
עַשׁתָּרוֹת°
from among°°
you, and prepare°°
your hearts°
unto°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
and serve°°
him only:°
and he will deliver°°
you out of the hand°°
of the
Pælištîm
פְּלִשׁתִּים.° |

7:3 ¶
And Shemuel spake unto all the house of Yisrael, saying, If ye do return unto Yahweh with all your hearts, [then] put away the strange elohim and Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare your hearts unto Yahweh, and serve him only: and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Pelishtim. |

בְּעָלִים°
and
`Aštärôŧ
עַשׁתָּרוֹת,°
and served°°°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
only.° |

Then the children of Yisrael did put away Bealim and Ashtaroth, and served Yahweh only. |

7:5
And

שְׁמוּאֵל°
said,°°
Gather°°°
all°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
to
Mixpà
מִצפָּה,°°
and I will pray°°
for°
you unto°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה.° |

7:5
And Shemuel said, Gather all Yisrael to Mitzpah, and I will pray for you unto Yahweh. |

And they gathered together°°
to
Mixpà
מִצפָּה,°
and drew°°
water,°
and poured [it] out°°
before°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
and fasted°°
on that°
day,°
and said°°
there,°
We have sinned°°
against
Yähwè
יָהוֶה.°
And
Šæmû´ël
שְׁמוּאֵל°
judged°°°
the children°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
in
Mixpà
מִצפָּה.°° |

7:6
And they gathered together to Mitzpah, and drew water, and poured [it] out before Yahweh, and fasted on that day, and said there, We have sinned against Yahweh. And Shemuel judged the children of Yisrael in Mitzpah. |

And when the

heard°°

the children°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
were gathered together°°
to
Mixpà
מִצפָּה,°°
the lords°
of the
Pælištîm
פְּלִשׁתִּים°
went up°°

Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל.°
And when the children°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
heard°°
[it], they were afraid°°
of°°
the
Pælištîm
פְּלִשׁתִּים.° |

And when the Pelishtim heard that the children of Yisrael were gathered together to Mitzpah, the lords of the Pelishtim went up against Yisrael. And when the children of Yisrael heard [it], they were afraid of the Pelishtim. |

שְׁמוּאֵל,°
Cease°°
not°
to cry°°°
unto°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
our
´Élöhîm

us, that he will save°°
us out of the hand°°
of the
Pælištîm
פְּלִשׁתִּים.° |

7:8
And the children of Yisrael said to Shemuel, Cease not to cry unto Yahweh our Elohim for us, that he will save us out of the hand of the Pelishtim. |
|
7:9 ¶
And

took°°
a°
sucking°
lamb,°
and offered°°
[it for] a burnt offering°
wholly°
unto
Yähwè
יָהוֶה:°
and
Šæmû´ël
שְׁמוּאֵל°
cried°°
unto°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
for°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל;°
and
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
heard°°
him. |

7:9 ¶
And Shemuel took a sucking lamb, and offered [it for] a burnt offering wholly unto Yahweh: and Shemuel cried unto Yahweh for Yisrael; and Yahweh heard him. |
|
7:10
And as

שְׁמוּאֵל°
was°
offering up°°
the burnt offering,°
the
Pælištîm
פְּלִשׁתִּים°
drew near°°
to battle°
against
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל:°
but
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
thundered°°
with a great°
thunder°
on that°
day°
upon°
the
Pælištîm
פְּלִשׁתִּים,°
and discomfited°°
them; and they were smitten°°
before°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל.° |

7:10
And as Shemuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Pelishtim drew near to battle against Yisrael: but Yahweh thundered with a great thunder on that day upon the Pelishtim, and discomfited them; and they were smitten before Yisrael. |
|
7:11
And the men°°

יִשׂרָאֵל°
went out°°
of°
Mixpà
מִצפָּה,°
and pursued°°°
the
Pælištîm
פְּלִשׁתִּים,°
and smote°°
them, until°
[they came] under°°
Bêŧ Cär
בֵּית־כָּר.° |

7:11
And the men of Yisrael went out of Mitzpah, and pursued the Pelishtim, and smote them, until [they came] under Beth-Kar. |
|
7:12
Then
Šæmû´ël
שְׁמוּאֵל°
took°°
a°
stone,°
and set°°
[it] between°
Mixpà
מִצפָּה°
and
Šën
שֵׁן,°
and called°°°
the name°
of it
´Even `Ëzer
אֶבֶן־עֵזֶר,°
saying,°°
Hitherto°°
hath
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
helped°°
us. |

7:12
Then Shemuel took a stone, and set [it] between Mitzpah and Shen, and called the name of it Even-Ezer, saying, Hitherto hath Yahweh helped us. |
|
7:13 ¶
So the
Pælištîm
פְּלִשׁתִּים°
were subdued,°°
and they came°°
no°
more°°°
into the coast°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל:°
and the hand°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
was°
against the
Pælištîm
פְּלִשׁתִּים°
all°
the days°
of
Šæmû´ël
שְׁמוּאֵל.° |

7:13 ¶
So the Pelishtim were subdued, and they came no more into the coast of Yisrael: and the hand of Yahweh was against the Pelishtim all the days of Shemuel. |
|
7:14
And the cities°
which°
the
Pælištîm
פְּלִשׁתִּים°
had taken°°
from°°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
were restored°°
to
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
from
`Ekrôn
עֶקרוֹן°°
even unto°
Gaŧ
גַּת;°
and the coasts°
thereof did
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
deliver°°
out of the hands°°
of the
Pælištîm
פְּלִשׁתִּים.°
And there was°
peace°
between°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
and the
´Émörîm
אֱמֹרִים.° |

7:14
And the cities which the Pelishtim had taken from Yisrael were restored to Yisrael, from Eqron even unto Gath; and the coasts thereof did Yisrael deliver out of the hands of the Pelishtim. And there was peace between Yisrael and the Emorim. |

And Shemuel judged Yisrael all the days of his life. |

Gilgäl
גִּלגָּל,°

Mixpà
מִצפָּה,°
and judged°°°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°

all°
those°
places.° |

And he went from year to year in circuit to Beth-El, and Gilgal, and Mitzpah, and judged Yisrael in all those places. |
|
7:17
And his return°
[was] to
Rämà
רָמָה;°
for°
there°
[was] his house;°
and there°
he judged°°°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל;°
and there°
he built°°
an altar°
unto
Yähwè
יָהוֶה.° |
|
7:17
And his return [was] to Ramah; for there [was] his house; and there he judged Yisrael; and there he built an altar unto Yahweh. |
