 27:1 ¶ And Däwiđ דָּוִד° said°° in° his heart,° I shall now° perish°° one° day° by the hand° of Šä´ûl שָׁאוּל:° [there is] nothing° better° for me than° that° I should speedily°° escape°° into° the land° of the Pælištîm פְּלִשׁתִּים;° and Šä´ûl שָׁאוּל° shall despair°° of° me, to seek°° me any more° in any° coast° of Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל:° so shall I escape°° out of his hand.°°

 27:1 ¶ And Dawid said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Shaul: [there is] nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape into the land of the Pelishtim; and Shaul shall despair of me, to seek me any more in any coast of Yisrael: so shall I escape out of his hand.

 27:2 And Däwiđ דָּוִד° arose,°° and he° passed over°° with the six° hundred° men° that° [were] with° him unto° ´Äȼîš אָכִישׁ,° the son° of Mä`ôȼ מָעוֹך,° king° of Gaŧ גַּת.°

 27:2 And Dawid arose, and he passed over with the six hundred men that [were] with him unto Akhish, the son of Maokh, king of Gath.

 27:3 And Däwiđ דָּוִד° dwelt°° with° ´Äȼîš אָכִישׁ° at Gaŧ גַּת,° he° and his men,°° every man° with his household,° [even] Däwiđ דָּוִד° with his two° wives,° ´Áçînö`am אֲחִינֹעַם° the Yizræ`ë´lîŧ יִזרְעֵאלִית,° and ´Áviqäyil אֲבִגָיִל° the Carmælîŧ כַּרמְלִית,°° Näväl's נָבָל° wife.°

 27:3 And Dawid dwelt with Akhish at Gath, he and his men, every man with his household, [even] Dawid with his two wives, Achinoam the Yizreelith, and Avigayil the Karmelith, Naval's wife.

 27:4 And it was told°° Šä´ûl שָׁאוּל° that° Däwiđ דָּוִד° was fled°° to Gaŧ גַּת:° and he sought°° no° more° again°°°° for him.

 27:4 And it was told Shaul that Dawid was fled to Gath: and he sought no more again for him.

 27:5 ¶ And Däwiđ דָּוִד° said°° unto° ´Äȼîš אָכִישׁ,° If° I have now° found°° grace° in thine eyes,° let them give°° me a place° in some° town° in the country,° that I may dwell°° there:° for why° should thy servant° dwell°° in the royal° city° with° thee?

 27:5 ¶ And Dawid said unto Akhish, If I have now found grace in thine eyes, let them give me a place in some town in the country, that I may dwell there: for why should thy servant dwell in the royal city with thee?

 27:6 Then ´Äȼîš אָכִישׁ° gave°° him° Xîklaq צִיקלַג° that° day:° wherefore° Xîklaq צִיקלַג° pertaineth° unto the kings° of Yæhûđà יְהוּדָה° unto° this° day.°

 27:6 Then Akhish gave him Tziqlag that day: wherefore Tziqlag pertaineth unto the kings of Yehudah unto this day.

 27:7 And the time°° that° Däwiđ דָּוִד° dwelt°° in the country° of the Pælištîm פְּלִשׁתִּים° was° a full° year° and four° months.°

 27:7 And the time that Dawid dwelt in the country of the Pelishtim was a full year and four months.

 27:8 ¶ And Däwiđ דָּוִד° and his men°° went up,°° and invaded°°° the Gæšûrîm גְּשׁוּרִים,° and the Gizrîm גִּזרִים,° and the `Ámälëkîm עֲמָלֵקִים:° for° those° [nations were] of old°°° the inhabitants°° of the land,° as thou goest°° to Šûr שׁוּר,° even unto° the land° of Mixrayim מִצרַיִם.°

 27:8 ¶ And Dawid and his men went up, and invaded the Geshurim, and the Gizrim, and the Amaleqim: for those [nations were] of old the inhabitants of the land, as thou goest to Shur, even unto the land of Mitzrayim.

 27:9 And Däwiđ דָּוִד° smote°°° the land,° and left° neither° man° nor woman° alive,°° and took away°° the sheep,° and the oxen,° and the asses,° and the camels,° and the apparel,° and returned,°° and came°° to° ´Äȼîš אָכִישׁ.°

 27:9 And Dawid smote the land, and left neither man nor woman alive, and took away the sheep, and the oxen, and the asses, and the camels, and the apparel, and returned, and came to Akhish.

 27:10 And ´Äȼîš אָכִישׁ° said,°° Whither° have ye made a road°° to day?° And Däwiđ דָּוִד° said,°° Against° the south° of Yæhûđà יְהוּדָה,° and against° the south° of the Yæraçmæ´ëlîm יְרַחמְאֵלִים,° and against° the south° of the Kênîm קֵינִים.°

 27:10 And Akhish said, Whither have ye made a road to day? And Dawid said, Against the south of Yehudah, and against the south of the Yerachmeelim, and against the south of the Qenim.

 27:11 And Däwiđ דָּוִד° saved°° neither° man° nor woman° alive,°° to bring°° [tidings] to Gaŧ גַּת,° saying,°° Lest° they should tell°° on° us, saying,°° So° did°° Däwiđ דָּוִד,° and so° [will be] his manner° all° the while° he dwelleth°° in the country° of the Pælištîm פְּלִשׁתִּים.°

 27:11 And Dawid saved neither man nor woman alive, to bring [tidings] to Gath, saying, Lest they should tell on us, saying, So did Dawid, and so [will be] his manner all the while he dwelleth in the country of the Pelishtim.

 27:12 And ´Äȼîš אָכִישׁ° believed°° Däwiđ דָּוִד,° saying,°° He hath made his people° Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל° utterly°° to abhor°° him; therefore he shall be° my servant° for ever.°

 27:12 And Akhish believed Dawid, saying, He hath made his people Yisrael utterly to abhor him; therefore he shall be my servant for ever.
