26:1 ¶
And the
Zifîm
זִפִים°
came°°
unto°
Šä´ûl
שָׁאוּל°
to
Giv`à
גִּבעָה,°
saying,°°
Doth not°
Däwiđ
דָּוִד°
hide°°
himself°
in the hill°
of
Çáȼîlà
חֲכִילָה,°
[which is] before°°
Yæšîmön
יְשִׁימֹן?° |
|
26:1 ¶
And the Zifim came unto Shaul to Givah, saying, Doth not Dawid hide himself in the hill of Chakhilah, [which is] before Yeshimon? |
26:2
Then
Šä´ûl
שָׁאוּל°
arose,°°
and went down°°
to°
the wilderness°
of
Zîf
זִיף,°
having three°
thousand°
chosen°°
men°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
with°
him, to seek°°°
Däwiđ
דָּוִד°
in the wilderness°
of
Zîf
זִיף.° |
|
26:2
Then Shaul arose, and went down to the wilderness of Zif, having three thousand chosen men of Yisrael with him, to seek Dawid in the wilderness of Zif. |
26:3
And
Šä´ûl
שָׁאוּל°
pitched°°
in the hill°
of
Çáȼîlà
חֲכִילָה,°
which°
[is] before°°
Yæšîmön
יְשִׁימֹן,°
by°
the way.°
But
Däwiđ
דָּוִד°
abode°°
in the wilderness,°
and he saw°°
that°
Šä´ûl
שָׁאוּל°
came°°
after°
him into the wilderness.° |
|
26:3
And Shaul pitched in the hill of Chakhilah, which [is] before Yeshimon, by the way. But Dawid abode in the wilderness, and he saw that Shaul came after him into the wilderness. |
26:4
Däwiđ
דָּוִד°
therefore sent out°°
spies,°°
and understood°°
that°
Šä´ûl
שָׁאוּל°
was come°°
in°°
very deed.°° |
|
26:4
Dawid therefore sent out spies, and understood that Shaul was come in very deed. |
26:5 ¶
And
Däwiđ
דָּוִד°
arose,°°
and came°°
to°
the place°
where°°
Šä´ûl
שָׁאוּל°
had pitched:°°
and
Däwiđ
דָּוִד°
beheld°°°
the place°
where°°
Šä´ûl
שָׁאוּל°
lay,°°
and
´Avnër
אַבנֵר°
the son°
of
Nër
נֵר,°
the captain°
of his host:°
and
Šä´ûl
שָׁאוּל°
lay°°
in the trench,°
and the people°
pitched°°
round about°
him. |
|
26:5 ¶
And Dawid arose, and came to the place where Shaul had pitched: and Dawid beheld the place where Shaul lay, and Avner the son of Ner, the captain of his host: and Shaul lay in the trench, and the people pitched round about him. |
26:6
Then answered°°
Däwiđ
דָּוִד°
and said°°
to°
´Áçîmeleȼ
אֲחִימֶלֶך°
the
Çittî
חִתִּי,°
and to°
´Ávîšay
אֲבִישַׁי°
the son°
of
Xærûyà
צְרוּיָה,°
brother°
to
Yô´äv
יוֹאָב,°
saying,°°
Who°
will go down°°
with°
me to°
Šä´ûl
שָׁאוּל°
to°
the camp?°
And
´Ávîšay
אֲבִישַׁי°
said,°°
I°
will go down°°
with°
thee. |
|
26:6
Then answered Dawid and said to Achimelekh the Chitti, and to Avishay the son of Tzeruyah, brother to Yoav, saying, Who will go down with me to Shaul to the camp? And Avishay said, I will go down with thee. |
26:7
So
Däwiđ
דָּוִד°
and
´Ávîšay
אֲבִישַׁי°
came°°
to°
the people°
by night:°
and, behold,°
Šä´ûl
שָׁאוּל°
lay°°
sleeping°
within the trench,°
and his spear°
stuck°°
in the ground°
at his bolster:°
but
´Avnër
אַבנֵר°
and the people°
lay°°
round about°
him. |
|
26:7
So Dawid and Avishay came to the people by night: and, behold, Shaul lay sleeping within the trench, and his spear stuck in the ground at his bolster: but Avner and the people lay round about him. |
26:8
Then said°°
´Ávîšay
אֲבִישַׁי°
to°
Däwiđ
דָּוִד,°
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים°
hath delivered°°°
thine enemy°°
into thine hand°
this day:°
now°
therefore let me smite°°
him, I pray thee,°
with the spear°
even to the earth°
at once,°°
and I will not°
[smite] him the second time.°° |
|
26:8
Then said Avishay to Dawid, Elohim hath delivered thine enemy into thine hand this day: now therefore let me smite him, I pray thee, with the spear even to the earth at once, and I will not [smite] him the second time. |
26:9
And
Däwiđ
דָּוִד°
said°°
to°
´Ávîšay
אֲבִישַׁי,°
Destroy°°
him not:°
for°
who°
can stretch forth°°
his hand°
against
Yähwè's
יָהוֶה°
anointed,°
and be guiltless?°° |
|
26:9
And Dawid said to Avishay, Destroy him not: for who can stretch forth his hand against Yahweh's anointed, and be guiltless? |
26:10
Däwiđ
דָּוִד°
said°°
furthermore,°°
[As]
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
liveth,°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
shall smite°°
him; or°
his day°
shall come°°
to die;°°
or°
he shall descend°°
into battle,°
and perish.°° |
|
26:10
Dawid said furthermore, [As] Yahweh liveth, Yahweh shall smite him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall descend into battle, and perish. |
26:11
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°°
forbid°
that I should stretch forth°°°
mine hand°
against
Yähwè's
יָהוֶה°
anointed:°
but, I pray thee,°
take°°
thou now°°
the spear°
that°
[is] at his bolster,°
and the cruse°
of water,°
and let us go.°°° |
|
26:11
Yahweh forbid that I should stretch forth mine hand against Yahweh's anointed: but, I pray thee, take thou now the spear that [is] at his bolster, and the cruse of water, and let us go. |
26:12
So
Däwiđ
דָּוִד°
took°°°
the spear°
and the cruse°
of water°
from
Šä´ûl's
שָׁאוּל°
bolster;°°
and they gat them away,°°°
and no°
man saw°°
[it], nor°
knew°°
[it], neither°
awaked:°°
for°
they [were] all°
asleep;°
because°
a deep sleep°
from
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
was fallen°°
upon°
them. |
|
26:12
So Dawid took the spear and the cruse of water from Shaul's bolster; and they gat them away, and no man saw [it], nor knew [it], neither awaked: for they [were] all asleep; because a deep sleep from Yahweh was fallen upon them. |
26:13 ¶
Then
Däwiđ
דָּוִד°
went over°°
to the other side,°
and stood°°
on°
the top°
of an hill°
afar off;°°
a great°
space°
[being] between°
them: |
|
26:13 ¶
Then Dawid went over to the other side, and stood on the top of an hill afar off; a great space [being] between them: |
26:14
And
Däwiđ
דָּוִד°
cried°°
to°
the people,°
and to°
´Avnër
אַבנֵר°
the son°
of
Nër
נֵר,°
saying,°°
Answerest°°
thou not,°
´Avnër
אַבנֵר?°
Then
´Avnër
אַבנֵר°
answered°°
and said,°°
Who°
[art] thou°
[that] criest°°
to°
the king?° |
|
26:14
And Dawid cried to the people, and to Avner the son of Ner, saying, Answerest thou not, Avner? Then Avner answered and said, Who [art] thou [that] criest to the king? |
26:15
And
Däwiđ
דָּוִד°
said°°
to°
´Avnër
אַבנֵר,°
[Art] not°
thou°
a [valiant] man?°
and who°
[is] like to thee°
in
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל?°
wherefore°
then hast thou not°
kept°°°
thy
´áđôn
אֲדוֹן°
the king?°
for°
there came°°
one°
of the people°
in to destroy°°°
the king°
thy
´áđôn
אֲדוֹן.° |
|
26:15
And Dawid said to Avner, [Art] not thou a [valiant] man? and who [is] like to thee in Yisrael? wherefore then hast thou not kept thy adon the king? for there came one of the people in to destroy the king thy adon. |
26:16
This°
thing°
[is] not°
good°
that°
thou hast done.°°
[As]
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
liveth,°
ye°
[are] worthy°
to die,°
because°
ye have not°
kept°°°
your
´áđôn
אֲדוֹן,°
Yähwè's
יָהוֶה°
anointed.°
And now°
see°°
where°
the king's°
spear°
[is], and the cruse°
of water°
that°
[was] at his bolster.° |
|
26:16
This thing [is] not good that thou hast done. [As] Yahweh liveth, ye [are] worthy to die, because ye have not kept your adon, Yahweh's anointed. And now see where the king's spear [is], and the cruse of water that [was] at his bolster. |
26:17
And
Šä´ûl
שָׁאוּל°
knew°°°
Däwiđ's
דָּוִד°
voice,°
and said,°°
[Is] this°
thy voice,°
my son°
Däwiđ
דָּוִד?°
And
Däwiđ
דָּוִד°
said,°°
[It is] my voice,°
my
´áđôn
אֲדוֹן,°
O king.° |
|
26:17
And Shaul knew Dawid's voice, and said, [Is] this thy voice, my son Dawid? And Dawid said, [It is] my voice, my adon, O king. |
26:18
And he said,°°
Wherefore°
doth my
´áđôn
אֲדוֹן°
thus°
pursue°°
after°
his servant?°
for°
what°
have I done?°°
or what°
evil°
[is] in mine hand?° |
|
26:18
And he said, Wherefore doth my adon thus pursue after his servant? for what have I done? or what evil [is] in mine hand? |
26:19
Now°
therefore, I pray thee,°
let my
´áđôn
אֲדוֹן°
the king°
hear°°°
the words°
of his servant.°
If°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
have stirred thee up°°
against me, let him accept°°
an offering:°
but if°
[they be] the children°
of men,°
cursed°°
[be] they°
before°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה;°
for°
they have driven°°
me out°
this day°
from abiding°°°
in the inheritance°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
saying,°°
Go,°°°
serve°°
other°
´élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים.° |
|
26:19
Now therefore, I pray thee, let my adon the king hear the words of his servant. If Yahweh have stirred thee up against me, let him accept an offering: but if [they be] the children of men, cursed [be] they before Yahweh; for they have driven me out this day from abiding in the inheritance of Yahweh, saying, Go, serve other elohim. |
26:20
Now°
therefore, let not°
my blood°
fall°°
to the earth°
before°°
the face°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה:°
for°
the king°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
is come out°°
to seek°°°
a°
flea,°
as when°
one°
doth hunt°°
a partridge°
in the mountains.° |
|
26:20
Now therefore, let not my blood fall to the earth before the face of Yahweh: for the king of Yisrael is come out to seek a flea, as when one doth hunt a partridge in the mountains. |
26:21 ¶
Then said°°
Šä´ûl
שָׁאוּל,°
I have sinned:°°
return,°°
my son°
Däwiđ
דָּוִד:°
for°
I will no°
more°
do thee harm,°°
because°°
my soul°
was precious°°
in thine eyes°
this°
day:°
behold,°
I have played the fool,°°
and have erred°°
exceedingly.°°° |
|
26:21 ¶
Then said Shaul, I have sinned: return, my son Dawid: for I will no more do thee harm, because my soul was precious in thine eyes this day: behold, I have played the fool, and have erred exceedingly. |
26:22
And
Däwiđ
דָּוִד°
answered°°
and said,°°
Behold°
the king's°
spear!°
and let one°
of the young men°°
come over°°
and fetch°°
it. |
|
26:22
And Dawid answered and said, Behold the king's spear! and let one of the young men come over and fetch it. |
26:23
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
render°°
to every man°°
his righteousness°
and his faithfulness:°
for°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
delivered°°
thee into [my] hand°
to day,°
but I would°°
not°
stretch forth°°
mine hand°
against
Yähwè's
יָהוֶה°
anointed.° |
|
26:23
Yahweh render to every man his righteousness and his faithfulness: for Yahweh delivered thee into [my] hand to day, but I would not stretch forth mine hand against Yahweh's anointed. |
26:24
And, behold,°
as°
thy life°
was much set°
by°°
this°
day°
in mine eyes,°
so°
let my life°
be much set°
by°°
in the eyes°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
and let him deliver°°
me out of all°°
tribulation.° |
|
26:24
And, behold, as thy life was much set by this day in mine eyes, so let my life be much set by in the eyes of Yahweh, and let him deliver me out of all tribulation. |
26:25
Then
Šä´ûl
שָׁאוּל°
said°°
to°
Däwiđ
דָּוִד,°
Blessed°°
[be] thou,°
my son°
Däwiđ
דָּוִד:°
thou shalt both°
do°°
great°°
[things], and also°
shalt still°°
prevail.°°
So
Däwiđ
דָּוִד°
went°°°
on his way,°
and
Šä´ûl
שָׁאוּל°
returned°°
to his place.° |
|
26:25
Then Shaul said to Dawid, Blessed [be] thou, my son Dawid: thou shalt both do great [things], and also shalt still prevail. So Dawid went on his way, and Shaul returned to his place. |
