 7:1 ¶ And Elisha said, Hear ye the word of Jehovah: thus saith Jehovah, To-morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be [sold] for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.

 7:1 ¶ Then Elishaº said,ºº Hearºº ye the wordº of the LORD;º Thusº saithºº the LORD,º To morrowº about this timeº [shall] a measureº of fine flourº [be sold] for a shekel,º and two measuresº of barleyº for a shekel,º in the gateº of Samaria.º

 7:2 Then the captain on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if Jehovah should make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

 7:2 Then a lordº onº whoseº handº the kingº leanedºº answeredººº the manº of God,º and said,ºº Behold,º [if] the LORDº would makeºº windowsº in heaven,º might thisº thingº be?º And he said,ºº Behold,º thou shalt seeºº [it] with thine eyes,º but shalt notº eatºº thereof.ºº

 7:3 ¶ Now there were four leprous men at the entrance of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die?

 7:3 ¶ And there wereº fourº leprousºº menºº at the entering inº of the gate:º and they saidºº oneº toº another,º Whyº sitºº weº hereº untilº we die?ºº

 7:4 If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there; and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.

 7:4 Ifº we say,ºº We will enterºº into the city,º then the famineº [is] in the city,º and we shall dieºº there:º and ifº we sitº stillºº here,º we dieºº also. Nowº therefore come,ººº and let us fallºº untoº the hostº of the Syrians:º ifº they save us alive,ºº we shall live;ºº and ifº they killºº us, we shall but die.ºº

 7:5 And they rose up in the twilight, to go unto the camp of the Syrians; and when they were come to the outermost part of the camp of the Syrians, behold, there was no man there.

 7:5 And they rose upºº in the twilight,º to goºº untoº the campº of the Syrians:º and when they were comeºº toº the uttermost partº of the campº of Syria,º behold,º [there was] noº manº there.º

 7:6 For the Lord had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great host: and they said one to another, Lo, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come upon us.

 7:6 For the Lordº had madeº the hostº of the Syriansº to hearºº a noiseº of chariots,º and a noiseº of horses,º [even] the noiseº of a greatº host:º and they saidºº oneº toº another,º Lo,º the kingº of Israelº hath hiredºº againstº usº the kingsº of the Hittites,º and the kingsº of the Egyptians,º to comeºº uponº us.

 7:7 Wherefore they arose and fled in the twilight, and left their tents, and their horses, and their asses, even the camp as it was, and fled for their life.

 7:7 Wherefore they aroseºº and fledºº in the twilight,º and leftººº their tents,º and their horses,º and their asses,º even the campº asº itº [was], and fledºº forº their life.º

 7:8 And when these lepers came to the outermost part of the camp, they went into one tent, and did eat and drink, and carried thence silver, and gold, and raiment, and went and hid it; and they came back, and entered into another tent, and carried thence also, and went and hid it.

 7:8 And when theseº lepersºº cameºº toº the uttermost partº of the camp,º they wentºº intoº oneº tent,º and did eatºº and drink,ºº and carriedºº thenceºº silver,º and gold,º and raiment,º and wentººº and hidºº [it]; and came again,ºº and enteredºº intoº anotherº tent,º and carriedºº thenceºº [also], and wentººº and hidºº [it].

 7:9 Then they said one to another, We do not well; this day is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace: if we tarry till the morning light, punishment will overtake us; now therefore come, let us go and tell the king's household.

 7:9 Then they saidºº oneº toº another,º Weº doºº notº well:º thisº dayº [is] a dayº of good tidings,º and weº hold our peace:ºº if we tarryºº tillº the morningº light,º some mischiefº will comeºº uponº us: nowº therefore come,ººº that we may goºº and tellºº the king'sº household.º

 7:10 So they came and called unto the porter of the city; and they told them, saying, We came to the camp of the Syrians, and, behold, there was no man there, neither voice of man, but the horses tied, and the asses tied, and the tents as they were.

 7:10 So they cameºº and calledºº untoº the porterº of the city:º and they toldºº them, saying,ºº We cameºº toº the campº of the Syrians,º and, behold,º [there was] noº manº there,º neither voiceº of man,º butºº horsesº tied,ºº and assesº tied,ºº and the tentsº asº theyº [were].

 7:11 And he called the porters; and they told it to the king's household within.

 7:11 And he calledºº the porters;º and they toldºº [it] to the king'sº houseº within.º

 7:12 ¶ And the king arose in the night, and said unto his servants, I will now show you what the Syrians have done to us. They know that we are hungry; therefore are they gone out of the camp to hide themselves in the field, saying, When they come out of the city, we shall take them alive, and get into the city.

 7:12 ¶ And the kingº aroseºº in the night,º and saidºº untoº his servants,º I will nowº shewºº youº whatº the Syriansº have doneºº to us. They knowºº thatº weº [be] hungry;º therefore are they gone outºº ofº the campº to hideºº themselvesº in the field,º saying,ºº Whenº they come outºº ofº the city,º we shall catchºº them alive,º and getºº intoº the city.º

 7:13 And one of his servants answered and said, Let some take, I pray thee, five of the horses that remain, which are left in the city (behold, they are as all the multitude of Israel that are left in it; behold, they are as all the multitude of Israel that are consumed); and let us send and see.

 7:13 And oneº of his servantsºº answeredºº and said,ºº Let [some] take,ºº I pray thee,º fiveº ofº the horsesº that remain,ºº whichº are leftºº in the city, (behold,º they [are] as allº the multitudeº of Israelº thatº are leftºº in it: behold,º [I say], they [are] even as allº the multitudeº of the Israelitesº thatº are consumed:)ºº and let us sendºº and see.ºº

 7:14 They took therefore two chariots with horses; and the king sent after the host of the Syrians, saying, Go and see.

 7:14 They tookºº therefore twoº chariotº horses;º and the kingº sentºº afterº the hostº of the Syrians,º saying,ºº Goººº and see.ºº

 7:15 And they went after them unto the Jordan: and, lo, all the way was full of garments and vessels, which the Syrians had cast away in their haste. And the messengers returned, and told the king.

 7:15 And they wentººº afterº them untoº Jordan:º and, lo,º allº the wayº [was] fullº of garmentsº and vessels,º whichº the Syriansº had cast awayºº in their haste.ºº And the messengersº returned,ºº and toldºº the king.º

 7:16 And the people went out, and plundered the camp of the Syrians. So a measure of fine flour was [sold] for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, according to the word of Jehovah.

 7:16 And the peopleº went out,ºº and spoiledººº the tentsº of the Syrians.º So a measureº of fine flourº wasº [sold] for a shekel,º and two measuresº of barleyº for a shekel,º according to the wordº of the LORD.º

 7:17 ¶ And the king appointed the captain on whose hand he leaned to have the charge of the gate: and the people trod upon him in the gate, and he died as the man of God had said, who spake when the king came down to him.

 7:17 ¶ And the kingº appointedººº the lordº onº whoseº handº he leanedºº to have the charge ofº the gate:º and the peopleº trodeºº uponº him in the gate,º and he died,ºº asº the manº of Godº had said,ºº whoº spakeºº when the kingº came downºº toº him.

 7:18 And it came to pass, as the man of God had spoken to the king, saying, Two measures of barley for a shekel, and a measure of fine flour for a shekel, shall be to-morrow about this time in the gate of Samaria;

 7:18 And it came to passº as the manº of Godº had spokenºº toº the king,º saying,ºº Two measuresº of barleyº for a shekel,º and a measureº of fine flourº for a shekel,º shall beº to morrowº about this timeº in the gateº of Samaria:º

 7:19 and that captain answered the man of God, and said, Now, behold, if Jehovah should make windows in heaven, might such a thing be? and he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof:

 7:19 And that lordº answeredººº the manº of God,º and said,ºº Now, behold,º [if] the LORDº should makeºº windowsº in heaven,º might suchº a thingº be?º And he said,ºº Behold,º thou shalt seeºº it with thine eyes,º but shalt notº eatºº thereof.ºº

 7:20 it came to pass even so unto him; for the people trod upon him in the gate, and he died.

 7:20 And soº it fell outº unto him: for the peopleº trodeºº uponº him in the gate,º and he died.ºº
