|
 25:1 ¶
And it came to passº
in the ninthº
yearº

in the tenthº
month,º
in the tenthº
[day] of the month,º
[that] Nebuchadnezzarº
kingº
of Babylonº
came,ºº
he,º
and allº
his host,º
againstº
Jerusalem,º
and pitchedºº
againstº
it; and they builtºº
fortsº
againstº
it round about.º |
 25:2
So the city was besieged unto the eleventh year of king Zedekiah. |
|
 25:2
And the cityº
was besiegedººº
untoº
the eleventhºº
yearº
of kingº
Zedekiah.º |

On the ninth day of the [fourth] month the famine was sore in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land. |

Then a breach was made in the city, and all the men of war [fled] by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the king's garden (now the Chaldeans were against the city round about); and [the king] went by the way of the Arabah. |
|
 25:4 ¶
And the cityº

and [the king] wentººº
the wayº
toward the plain.º |
 25:5
But the army of the Chaldeans pursued after the king, and overtook him in the plains of Jericho; and all his army was scattered from him. |
|
 25:5
And the armyº

pursuedºº
afterº
the king,º
and overtookºº

and allº
his armyº
were scatteredºº
fromºº
him. |
 25:6
Then they took the king, and carried him up unto the king of Babylon to Riblah; and they gave judgment upon him. |
|
 25:6
So they tookººº
the king,º
and brought him upººº
toº
the kingº
of Babylonº
to Riblah;º
and they gaveºº
judgmentº
uponº
him. |
 25:7
And they slew the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and bound him in fetters, and carried him to Babylon. |

yearº
of kingº
Nebuchadnezzarº
kingº
of Babylon,º
cameºº
Nebuzaradan,º
captainº
of the guard,º
a servantº
of the kingº
of Babylon,º
unto Jerusalem:º |
 25:9
And he burnt the house of Jehovah, and the king's house; and all the houses of Jerusalem, even every great house, burnt he with fire. |
|
 25:9
And he burntººº
the houseº
of the LORD,º
and the king'sº
house,º
and allº
the housesº
of Jerusalem,º
and everyº

[man's] houseº
burntºº
he with fire.º |
 25:10
And all the army of the Chaldeans, that were [with] the captain of the guard, brake down the walls of Jerusalem round about. |
|
 25:10
And allº
the armyº
of the Chaldees,º
thatº

brake downºº
the wallsº
of Jerusalemº
round about.º |
 25:11
And the residue of the people that were left in the city, and those that fell away, that fell to the king of Babylon, and the residue of the multitude, did Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carry away captive. |
|
 25:11
Now the restº
of the peopleº
[that were] leftºº
in the city,º
and the fugitivesºº
thatº
fell awayºº
toº
the kingº
of Babylon,º
with the remnantº
of the multitude,º
did Nebuzaradanº
the captainº
of the guardº
carry away.ºº |
 25:12
But the captain of the guard left of the poorest of the land to be vinedressers and husbandmen. |
|
 25:12
But the captainº
of the guardº
leftºº
of the poorºº
of the landº
[to be] vinedressersº
and husbandmen.ººººº |
 25:13
And the pillars of brass that were in the house of Jehovah, and the bases and the brazen sea that were in the house of Jehovah, did the Chaldeans break in pieces, and carried the brass of them to Babylon. |
|
 25:13
And the pillarsº
of brassº
thatº
[were] in the houseº
of the LORD,º
and the bases,º
and the brasenº
seaº
thatº
[was] in the houseº
of the LORD,º
did the Chaldeesº
break in pieces,ºº
and carriedººº
the brassº
of them to Babylon.º |
 25:14
And the pots, and the shovels, and the snuffers, and the spoons, and all the vessels of brass wherewith they ministered, took they away. |
|
 25:14
And the pots,º
and the shovels,º
and the snuffers,º
and the spoons,º
and allº
the vesselsº
of brassº
wherewithº
they ministered,ºº
took they away.ºº |
 25:15
And the firepans, and the basins, that which was of gold, in gold, and that which was of silver, in silver, the captain of the guard took away. |
|
 25:15
And the firepans,º
and the bowls,º
[and] such things asº
[were] of gold,º
[in] gold,º
and of silver,º
[in] silver,º
the captainº
of the guardº
took away.ºº |
 25:16
The two pillars, the one sea, and the bases, which Solomon had made for the house of Jehovah, the brass of all these vessels was without weight. |
|
 25:16
The twoº
pillars,º
oneº
sea,º
and the basesº
whichº
Solomonº
had madeºº
for the houseº
of the LORD;º
the brassº
of allº
theseº
vesselsº
wasº
withoutº
weight.º |
 25:17
The height of the one pillar was eighteen cubits, and a capital of brass was upon it; and the height of the capital was three cubits, with network and pomegranates upon the capital round about, all of brass: and like unto these had the second pillar with network. |
|
 25:17
The heightº
of the oneº
pillarº
[was] eighteenºº
cubits,º
and the chapiterº
uponº
it [was] brass:º
and the heightº
of the chapiterº
threeº
cubits;º
and the wreathen work,º
and pomegranatesº
uponº
the chapiterº
round about,º
allº
of brass:º
and like unto theseº
had the secondº
pillarº
withº
wreathen work.º |
 25:18 ¶
And the captain of the guard took Seraiah the chief priest, and Zephaniah the second priest, and the three keepers of the threshold: |
|
 25:18 ¶
And the captainº
of the guardº
tookººº
Seraiahº
the chiefº
priest,º
and Zephaniahº
the secondº
priest,º
and the threeº
keepersºº
of the door:º |
 25:19
and out of the city he took an officer that was set over the men of war; and five men of them that saw the king's face, who were found in the city; and the scribe, the captain of the host, who mustered the people of the land; and threescore men of the people of the land, that were found in the city. |
|
 25:19
And out ofº
the cityº
he tookºº
anº
officerº
thatºº
was setº
overº
the menºº
of war,º
and fiveº
menºº
of them that wereººº
in the king'sº
presence,º
whichº
were foundºº
in the city,º
and the principalº
scribeºº
of the host,º
which musteredººº
the peopleº
of the land,º
and threescoreº
menº
of the peopleºº
of the landº
[that were] foundºº
in the city:º |
 25:20
And Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard took them, and brought them to the king of Babylon to Riblah. |
|
 25:20
And Nebuzaradanº
captainº
of the guardº
tookºº
these, and broughtººº
them toº
the kingº
of Babylonº
to Riblah:º |
 25:21
And the king of Babylon smote them, and put them to death at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah was carried away captive out of his land. |
|
 25:21
And the kingº
of Babylonº
smoteºº
them, and slewºº
them at Riblahº
in the landº
of Hamath.º
So Judahº
was carried awayºº
out ofºº
their land.º |
 25:22 ¶
And as for the people that were left in the land of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had left, even over them he made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, governor. |
|
 25:22 ¶
And [as for] the peopleº
that remainedºº
in the landº
of Judah,º
whomº
Nebuchadnezzarº
kingº
of Babylonº
had left,ºº
even overº
them he madeº
Gedaliahº
the sonº
of Ahikam,º
the sonº
of Shaphan,º
ruler.ºº |
 25:23
Now when all the captains of the forces, they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah governor, they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah the son of the Maacathite, they and their men. |
|
 25:23
And when allº
the captainsº
of the armies,º
theyº
and their men,ºº
heardºº
thatº
the kingº
of Babylonº
had madeº
Gedaliahº
governor,ºº
there cameºº
toº
Gedaliahº
to Mizpah,º
even Ishmaelº
the sonº
of Nethaniah,º
and Johananº
the sonº
of Careah,º
and Seraiahº
the sonº
of Tanhumethº
the Netophathite,º
and Jaazaniahº
the sonº
of a Maachathite,º
theyº
and their men.ºº |
 25:24
And Gedaliah sware to them and to their men, and said unto them, Fear not because of the servants of the Chaldeans: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you. |
|
 25:24
And Gedaliahº
swareºº
to them, and to their men,ºº
and saidºº
unto them, Fearºº
notº
to be the servantsºº
of the Chaldees:º
dwellºº
in the land,º
and serveººº
the kingº
of Babylon;º
and it shall be wellºº
with you. |
 25:25
But it came to pass in the seventh month, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, of the seed royal, came, and ten men with him, and smote Gedaliah, so that he died, and the Jews and the Chaldeans that were with him at Mizpah. |
|
 25:25
But it came to passº

month,º
that Ishmaelº
the sonº
of Nethaniah,º
the sonº

menºº
withº
him, and smoteººº
Gedaliah,º
that he died,ºº
and the Jewsº
and the Chaldeesº
thatº
wereº
withº
him at Mizpah.º |
 25:26
And all the people, both small and great, and the captains of the forces, arose, and came to Egypt; for they were afraid of the Chaldeans. |
|
 25:26
And allº
the people,º
both smallºº
and great,º
and the captainsº
of the armies,º
arose,ºº
and cameºº
to Egypt:º
forº
they were afraidºº
ofºº
the Chaldees.º |
 25:27 ¶
And it came to pass in the seven and thirtieth year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, that Evil-merodach king of Babylon, in the year that he began to reign, did lift up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah out of prison; |

 25:28
and he spake kindly to him, and set his throne above the throne of the kings that were with him in Babylon, |
|
 25:28
And he spakeºº
kindlyº
toº
him, and setººº
his throneº
aboveºº
the throneº

And changedººº
his prisonº
garments:º
and he did eatºº
breadº
continuallyº
beforeº
him allº
the daysº
of his life.º |
 25:30
and for his allowance, there was a continual allowance given him of the king, every day a portion, all the days of his life. |
|
 25:30
And his allowanceº
[was] a continualº
allowanceº
givenºº
him ofºº
the king,º
a dailyº
rateº
for every day,º
allº
