1 The feast of the dedication of the Temple, 12, 54 Solomon's blessing. 22 Solomon's prayer. 62 His sacrifice of peace offerings.

 8:1 Then 227 Solomon 8010 assembled 6950 the elders 2205 of Israel 3478 and all 3605 the heads 7218 of the tribes 4294, the leaders 5387a of the fathers’ 1 [households] of the sons 1121 of Israel 3478, to King 4428 Solomon 8010 in Jerusalem 3389, to bring 5927 up the ark 727 of the covenant 1285 of the LORD 3068 from the city 5892b of David 1732, which 1931 is Zion 6726.

 8:2 All 3605 the men 376 of Israel 3478 assembled 6950 themselves to King 4428 Solomon 8010 at the feast 2282, in the month 3391 Ethanim 388, which 1931 is the seventh 7637 month 2320.

 8:3 Then all 3605 the elders 2205 of Israel 3478 came 935, and the priests 3548 took 5375 up the ark 727.

 8:4 They brought 5927 up the ark 727 of the LORD 3068 and the tent 168 of meeting 4150 and all 3605 the holy 6944 utensils 3627, which 834 were in the tent 168, and the priests 3548 and the Levites 3881 brought 5927 them up.

 8:5 And King 4428 Solomon 8010 and all 3605 the congregation 5712 of Israel 3478, who were assembled 3259 to him, were with him before 6440 the ark 727, sacrificing 2076 so 7230 many 7230 sheep 6629 and oxen 1241 they could not be counted 5608 or numbered 4487.

 8:6 Then the priests 3548 brought 935 the ark 727 of the covenant 1285 of the LORD 3068 to its place 4725, into the inner 1687 sanctuary 1687 of the house 1004, to the most 6944 holy 6944 place 6944, under 8478 the wings 3671 of the cherubim 3742.

 8:7 For the cherubim 3742 spread 6566 [their] wings 3671 over 413 the place 4725 of the ark 727, and the cherubim 3742 made 5526a a covering 5526a over 5921 the ark 727 and its poles 905 from above 4480 4605.

 8:8 But the poles 905 were so long 748 that the ends 7218 of the poles 905 could be seen 7200 from the holy 6944 place before 5921 6440 the inner 1687 sanctuary 1687, but they could not be seen 7200 outside 2351; they are there 8033 to this 2088 day 3117.

 8:9 There 369 was nothing 369 in the ark 727 except 7534 the two 8147 tablets 3871 of stone 68 which 834 Moses 4872 put 5117 there 8033 at Horeb 2722, where 834 the LORD 3068 made 3772 a covenant with the sons 1121 of Israel 3478, when they came 3318 out of the land 776 of Egypt 4714.

 8:10 It happened 1961 that when the priests 3548 came 3318 from the holy 6944 place, the cloud 6051 filled 4390 the house 1004 of the LORD 3068,

 8:11 so that the priests 3548 could 3201 not stand 5975 to minister 8334 because 4480 6440 of the cloud 6051, for the glory 3519b of the LORD 3068 filled 4390 the house 1004 of the LORD 3068.

 8:12 ¶ Then 227 Solomon 8010 said 559, “The LORD 3068 has said 559 that He would dwell 7931 in the thick 6205 cloud 6205.

 8:13 “I have surely 1129 built 1129 You a lofty 2073 house 1004, A place 4349 for Your dwelling 3427 forever 5769.”

 8:14 ¶ Then the king 4428 faced 5437 6440 about 5437 and blessed 1288 all 3605 the assembly 6951 of Israel 3478, while all 3605 the assembly 6951 of Israel 3478 was standing 5975.

 8:15 He said 559, “Blessed 1288 be the LORD 3068, the God 430 of Israel 3478, who 834 spoke 1696 with His mouth 6310 to my father 1 David 1732 and has fulfilled 4390 [it] with His hand 3027, saying 559,

 8:16 ‘Since 4480 the day 3117 that I brought 3318 My people 5971a Israel 3478 from Egypt 4714, I did not choose 977 a city 5892b out of all 3605 the tribes 7626 of Israel 3478 [in which] to build 1129 a house 1004 that My name 8034 might be there 8033, but I chose 977 David 1732 to be over 5921 My people 5971a Israel 3478.’

 8:17 “Now it was in the heart 3824 of my father 1 David 1732 to build 1129 a house 1004 for the name 8034 of the LORD 3068, the God 430 of Israel 3478.

 8:18 “But the LORD 3068 said 559 to my father 1 David 1732, ‘Because 3282 834 it was in your heart 3824 to build 1129 a house 1004 for My name 8034, you did 2895 well 2895 that it was in your heart 3824.

 8:19 ‘Nevertheless 7534 you shall not build 1129 the house 1004, but your son 1121 who will be born 3318 2504 to you, he will build 1129 the house 1004 for My name 8034.’

 8:20 “Now the LORD 3068 has fulfilled 6965 His word 1697 which 834 He spoke 1696; for I have risen 6965 in place 8478 of my father 1 David 1732 and sit 3427 on the throne 3678 of Israel 3478, as the LORD 3068 promised 1696, and have built 1129 the house 1004 for the name 8034 of the LORD 3068, the God 430 of Israel 3478.

 8:21 “There 8033 I have set 7760 a place 4725 for the ark 727, in which 834 is the covenant 1285 of the LORD 3068, which 834 He made 3772 with our fathers 1 when He brought 3318 them from the land 776 of Egypt 4714.”

 8:22 ¶ Then Solomon 8010 stood 5975 before 6440 the altar 4196 of the LORD 3068 in the presence 5048 of all 3605 the assembly 6951 of Israel 3478 and spread 6566 out his hands 3709 toward heaven 8064.

 8:23 He said 559, “O LORD 3068, the God 430 of Israel 3478, there 369 is no 369 God 430 like 3644 You in heaven 8064 above 4480 4605 or on earth 776 beneath 4480 8478, keeping 8104 covenant 1285 and [showing] lovingkindness 2617a to Your servants 5650 who walk 1980 before 6440 You with all 3605 their heart 3820,

 8:24 who 834 have kept 8104 with Your servant 5650, my father 1 David 1732, that which 834 You have promised 1696 him; indeed, You have spoken 1696 with Your mouth 6310 and have fulfilled 4390 it with Your hand 3027 as it is this 2088 day 3117.

 8:25 “Now 6258 therefore, O LORD 3068, the God 430 of Israel 3478, keep 8104 with Your servant 5650 David 1732 my father 1 that which 834 You have promised 1696 him, saying 559, ‘You shall not lack 3772 a man 376 to sit 3427 on the throne 3678 of Israel 3478, if 518 only 7534 your sons 1121 take 8104 heed 8104 to their way 1870 to walk 1980 before 6440 Me as you have walked 1980.’

 8:26 “Now 6258 therefore, O God 430 of Israel 3478, let Your word 1697, I pray 4994, be confirmed 539 which 834 You have spoken 1696 to Your servant 5650, my father 1 David 1732.

 8:27 ¶ “But will God 430 indeed 552 dwell 3427 on the earth 776? Behold 2009, heaven 8064 and the highest 8064 heaven 8064 cannot 3808 contain 3557 You, how 637 much 637 3588 less 637 this 2088 house 1004 which 834 I have built 1129!

 8:28 “Yet have 6437 regard 6437 to the prayer 8605 of Your servant 5650 and to his supplication 8467, O LORD 3068 my God 430, to listen 8085 to the cry 7440 and to the prayer 8605 which 834 Your servant 5650 prays 6419 before 6440 You today 3117;

 8:29 that Your eyes 5869 may be open 6605a toward 413 this 2088 house 1004 night 3915 and day 3117, toward 413 the place 4725 of which 834 You have said 559, ‘My name 8034 shall be there 8033,’ to listen 8085 to the prayer 8605 which 834 Your servant 5650 shall pray 6419 toward 413 this 2088 place 4725.

 8:30 “Listen 8085 to the supplication 8467 of Your servant 5650 and of Your people 5971a Israel 3478, when 834 they pray 6419 toward 413 this 2088 place 4725; hear 8085 in heaven 8064 Your dwelling 3427 place 4725; hear 8085 and forgive 5545.

 8:31 ¶ “If 834 a man 376 sins 2398 against his neighbor 7453 and is made 5377 to take 422 an oath 423, and he comes 935 [and] takes 422 an oath 422 before 6440 Your altar 4196 in this 2088 house 1004,

 8:32 then hear 8085 in heaven 8064 and act 6213a and judge 8199 Your servants 5650, condemning 7561 the wicked 7563 by bringing 5414 his way 1870 on his own head 7218 and justifying 6663 the righteous 6662 by giving 5414 him according to his righteousness 6666.

 8:33 ¶ “When Your people 5971a Israel 3478 are defeated 5062 before 6440 an enemy 340, because 834 they have sinned 2398 against You, if they turn 7725 to You again 7725 and confess 3034 Your name 8034 and pray 6419 and make 2603a supplication 2603a to You in this 2088 house 1004,

 8:34 then hear 8085 in heaven 8064, and forgive 5545 the sin 2403b of Your people 5971a Israel 3478, and bring 7725 them back 7725 to the land 127 which 834 You gave 5414 to their fathers 1.

 8:35 ¶ “When the heavens 8064 are shut 6113 up and there is no 3808 rain 4306, because 3588 they have sinned 2398 against You, and they pray 6419 toward 413 this 2088 place 4725 and confess 3034 Your name 8034 and turn 7725 from their sin 2403b when 3588 You afflict 6031a them,

 8:36 then hear 8085 in heaven 8064 and forgive 5545 the sin 2403b of Your servants 5650 and of Your people 5971a Israel 3478, indeed 3588, teach 3384 them the good 2896a way 1870 in which 834 they should walk 1980. And send 5414 rain 4306 on Your land 776, which 834 You have given 5414 Your people 5971a for an inheritance 5159.

 8:37 ¶ “If 3588 there is famine 7458 in the land 776, if 3588 there is pestilence 1698, if 3588 there is blight 7711b [or] mildew 3420, locust 697 [or] grasshopper 2625, if 3588 their enemy 340 besieges 6887a them in the land 776 of their cities 8179, whatever 3605 plague 5061, whatever 3605 sickness 4245a [there is],

 8:38 whatever 3605 834 prayer 8605 or supplication 8467 is made 1961 by any 3605 man 120 [or] by all 3605 Your people 5971a Israel 3478, each 376 knowing 3045 the affliction 5061 of his own heart 3824, and spreading 6566 his hands 3709 toward 413 this 2088 house 1004;

 8:39 then hear 8085 in heaven 8064 Your dwelling 3427 place 4349, and forgive 5545 and act 6213a and render 5414 to each 376 according to all 3605 his ways 1870, whose 834 heart 3824 You know 3045, for You alone 905 know 3045 the hearts 3824 of all 3605 the sons 1121 of men 120,

 8:40 that they may fear 3372a You all 3605 the days 3117 that they live 2416a in the land 127 which 834 You have given 5414 to our fathers 1.

 8:41 ¶ “Also 1571 concerning 413 the foreigner 5237 who 834 is not of Your people 5971a Israel 3478, when he comes 935 from a far 7350 country 776 for Your name’s 8034 sake 4616

 8:42 (for they will hear 8085 of Your great 1419 name 8034 and Your mighty 2389 hand 3027, and of Your outstretched 5186 arm 2220); when he comes 935 and prays 6419 toward 413 this 2088 house 1004,

 8:43 hear 8085 in heaven 8064 Your dwelling 3427 place 4349, and do 6213a according to all 3605 for which 834 the foreigner 5237 calls 7121 to You, in order 4616 that all 3605 the peoples 5971a of the earth 776 may know 3045 Your name 8034, to fear 3372a You, as [do] Your people 5971a Israel 3478, and that they may know 3045 that this 2088 house 1004 which 834 I have built 1129 is called 7121 by Your name 8034.

 8:44 ¶ “When 3588 Your people 5971a go 3318 out to battle 4421 against 5921 their enemy 340, by whatever 834 way 1870 You shall send 7971 them, and they pray 6419 to the LORD 3068 toward 1870 the city 5892b which 834 You have chosen 977 and the house 1004 which 834 I have built 1129 for Your name 8034,

 8:45 then hear 8085 in heaven 8064 their prayer 8605 and their supplication 8467, and maintain 6213a their cause 4941.

 8:46 ¶ “When 3588 they sin 2398 against You (for there 369 is no 369 man 120 who 834 does not sin 2398) and You are angry 599 with them and deliver 5414 them to an enemy 340, so that they take 7617 them away captive 7628b to the land 776 of the enemy 340, far 7350 off or 176 near 7138;

 8:47 if they take 7725 thought 3820 in the land 776 where 834 8033 they have been taken 7617 captive 7628b, and repent 7725 and make 2603a supplication 2603a to You in the land 776 of those who have taken 7617 them captive 7628b, saying 559, ‘We have sinned 2398 and have committed 5753b iniquity 5753b, we have acted 7561 wickedly 7561’;

 8:48 if they return 7725 to You with all 3605 their heart 3824 and with all 3605 their soul 5315 in the land 776 of their enemies 340 who 834 have taken 7617 them captive 7628b, and pray 6419 to You toward 1870 their land 776 which 834 You have given 5414 to their fathers 1, the city 5892b which 834 You have chosen 977, and the house 1004 which 834 I have built 1129 for Your name 8034;

 8:49 then hear 8085 their prayer 8605 and their supplication 8467 in heaven 8064 Your dwelling 3427 place 4349, and maintain 6213a their cause 4941,

 8:50 and forgive 5545 Your people 5971a who 834 have sinned 2398 against You and all 3605 their transgressions 6588 which 834 they have transgressed 6586 against You, and make 5414 them [objects of] compassion 7356 before 6440 those who have taken 7617 them captive 7628b, that they may have 7355 compassion 7355 on them

 8:51 (for they are Your people 5971a and Your inheritance 5159 which 834 You have brought 3318 forth 3318 from Egypt 4714, from the midst 8432 of the iron 1270 furnace 3564a),

 8:52 that Your eyes 5869 may be open 6605a to the supplication 8467 of Your servant 5650 and to the supplication 8467 of Your people 5971a Israel 3478, to listen 8085 to them whenever 3605 they call 7121 to You.

 8:53 “For You have separated 914 them from all 3605 the peoples 5971a of the earth 776 as Your inheritance 5159, as You spoke 1696 through 3027 Moses 4872 Your servant 5650, when You brought 3318 our fathers 1 forth 3318 from Egypt 4714, O Lord 136 GOD 3068.”

 8:54 ¶ When Solomon 8010 had finished 3615 praying 6419 this 2088 entire 3605 prayer 8605 and supplication 8467 to the LORD 3068, he arose 6965 from before 6440 the altar 4196 of the LORD 3068, from kneeling 3766 on his knees 1290 with his hands 3709 spread 6566 toward heaven 8064.

 8:55 And he stood 5975 and blessed 1288 all 3605 the assembly 6951 of Israel 3478 with a loud 1419 voice 6963, saying 559:

 8:56 ¶ “Blessed 1288 be the LORD 3068, who 834 has given 5414 rest 4496 to His people 5971a Israel 3478, according to all 3605 that He promised 1696; not one 259 word 1697 has failed 5307 of all 3605 His good 2896a promise 1697, which 834 He promised 1696 through 3027 Moses 4872 His servant 5650.

 8:57 “May the LORD 3068 our God 430 be with us, as He was with our fathers 1; may He not leave 5800a us or forsake 5203 us,

 8:58 that He may incline 5186 our hearts 3824 to Himself, to walk 1980 in all 3605 His ways 1870 and to keep 8104 His commandments 4687 and His statutes 2706 and His ordinances 4941, which 834 He commanded 6680 our fathers 1.

 8:59 “And may these 428 words 1697 of mine, with which 834 I have made 2603a supplication 2603a before 6440 the LORD 3068, be near 7138 to the LORD 3068 our God 430 day 3119 and night 3915, that He may maintain 6213a the cause 4941 of His servant 5650 and the cause 4941 of His people 5971a Israel 3478, as each 3117 day 3117 requires 1697,

 8:60 so 4616 that all 3605 the peoples 5971a of the earth 776 may know 3045 that the LORD 3068 is God 430; there 369 is no 369 one 369 else 5750.

 8:61 “Let your heart 3824 therefore be wholly 8003 devoted 8003 to the LORD 3068 our God 430, to walk 1980 in His statutes 2706 and to keep 8104 His commandments 4687, as at this 2088 day 3117.”

 8:62 ¶ Now the king 4428 and all 3605 Israel 3478 with him offered 2076 sacrifice 2077 before 6440 the LORD 3068.

 8:63 Solomon 8010 offered 2076 for the sacrifice 2077 of peace 8002 offerings 8002, which 834 he offered 2076 to the LORD 3068, 22,000 6242 8147 505 oxen 1241 and 120,000 3967 6242 505 sheep 6629. So the king 4428 and all 3605 the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 dedicated 2596 the house 1004 of the LORD 3068.

 8:64 On the same 1931 day 3117 the king 4428 consecrated 6942 the middle 8432 of the court 2691a that [was] before 6440 the house 1004 of the LORD 3068, because 3588 there 8033 he offered 6213a the burnt 5930a offering 5930a and the grain offering 4503 and the fat 2459 of the peace 8002 offerings 8002; for the bronze 5178 altar 4196 that [was] before 6440 the LORD 3068 [was] too 4480 small 6996b to hold 3557 the burnt 5930a offering 5930a and the grain offering 4503 and the fat 2459 of the peace 8002 offerings 8002.

 8:65 ¶ So Solomon 8010 observed 6213a the feast 2282 at that time 6256, and all 3605 Israel 3478 with him, a great 1419 assembly 6951 from the entrance 935 of Hamath 2574 to the brook 5158a of Egypt 4714, before 6440 the LORD 3068 our God 430, for seven 7651 days 3117 and seven 7651 [more] days 3117, [even] fourteen 702 6240 days 3117.

 8:66 On the eighth 8066 day 3117 he sent 7971 the people 5971a away 7971 and they blessed 1288 the king 4428. Then they went 1980 to their tents 168 joyful 8056 and glad 2896a of heart 3820 for all 3605 the goodness 2899b that the LORD 3068 had shown 6213a to David 1732 His servant 5650 and to Israel 3478 His people 5971a.
