1 Kings 21

1 Ahab being denied Naboth's vinyard is grieved. 5 Jezebel writing letters against Naboth, he is condemned of blasphemy. 15 Ahab taketh possession of the vinyard. 17 Elijah denounceth judgments against Ahab and Jezebel. 25 Wicked Ahab repenting, God deferreth the judgment.

 21:1 Now it came 1961 about after 310 these 428 things 1697 that Naboth 5022 the Jezreelite 3158 had 1961 a vineyard 3754 which 834 [was] in Jezreel 3157 beside 681a the palace 1964 of Ahab 256 king 4428 of Samaria 8111.

 21:2 Ahab 256 spoke 1696 to Naboth 5022, saying 559, “Give 5414 me your vineyard 3754, that I may have 1961 it for a vegetable 3419 garden 1588 because 3588 it is close 7138 beside 681a my house 1004, and I will give 5414 you a better 2896a vineyard 3754 than 4480 it in its place 8478; if 518 you like 2896a 5869, I will give 5414 you the price 4242 of it in money 3701.”

 21:3 But Naboth 5022 said 559 to Ahab 256, “The LORD 3068 forbid 2486 me that I should give 5414 you the inheritance 5159 of my fathers 1.”

 21:4 So Ahab 256 came 935 into his house 1004 sullen 5620 and vexed 2198 because 5921 of the word 1697 which 834 Naboth 5022 the Jezreelite 3158 had spoken 1696 to him; for he said 559, “I will not give 5414 you the inheritance 5159 of my fathers 1.” And he lay 7901 down 7901 on his bed 4296 and turned 5437 away 5437 his face 6440 and ate 398 no 3808 food 3899.

 21:5 ¶ But Jezebel 348 his wife 802 came 935 to him and said 1696 to him, “How 4100 is it that your spirit 7307 is so sullen 5620 that you are not eating 398 food 3899?”

 21:6 So he said 1696 to her, “Because 3588 I spoke 1696 to Naboth 5022 the Jezreelite 3158 and said 559 to him, ‘Give 5414 me your vineyard 3754 for money 3701; or 176 else, if 518 it pleases 2655 you, I will give 5414 you a vineyard 3754 in its place 8478.’ But he said 559, ‘I will not give 5414 you my vineyard 3754.’”

 21:7 Jezebel 348 his wife 802 said 559 to him, “Do you now 6258 reign 6213a 4410 over 5921 Israel 3478? Arise 6965, eat 398 bread 3899, and let your heart 3820 be joyful 3190; I will give 5414 you the vineyard 3754 of Naboth 5022 the Jezreelite 3158.”

 21:8 ¶ So she wrote 3789 letters 5612 in Ahab’s 256 name 8034 and sealed 2856 them with his seal 2368, and sent 7971 letters 5612 to the elders 2205 and to the nobles 2715 who 834 were living 3427 with Naboth 5022 in his city 5892b.

 21:9 Now she wrote 3789 in the letters 5612, saying 559, “Proclaim 7121 a fast 6685 and seat 3427 Naboth 5022 at the head 7218 of the people 5971a;

 21:10 and seat 3427 two 8147 worthless 1100 men 376 before 5048 him, and let them testify 5749b against him, saying 559, ‘You cursed 1288 God 430 and the king 4428.’ Then take 3318 him out and stone 5619 him to death 4191.”

 21:11 ¶ So the men 376 of his city 5892b, the elders 2205 and the nobles 2715 who 834 lived 3427 in his city 5892b, did 6213a as Jezebel 348 had sent 7971 [word] to them, just 3512c as it was written 3789 in the letters 5612 which 834 she had sent 7971 them.

 21:12 They proclaimed 7121 a fast 6685 and seated 3427 Naboth 5022 at the head 7218 of the people 5971a.

 21:13 Then the two 8147 worthless 1100 men 376 came 935 in and sat 3427 before 5048 him; and the worthless 1100 men 376 testified 5749b against him, even against Naboth 5022, before 5048 the people 5971a, saying 559, “Naboth 5022 cursed 1288 God 430 and the king 4428.” So they took 3318 him outside 4480 2351 the city 5892b and stoned 5619 him to death 4191 with stones 68.

 21:14 Then they sent 7971 [word] to Jezebel 348, saying 559, “Naboth 5022 has been stoned 5619 and is dead 4191.”

 21:15 ¶ When Jezebel 348 heard 8085 that Naboth 5022 had been stoned 5619 and was dead 4191, Jezebel 348 said 559 to Ahab 256, “Arise 6965, take 3423 possession 3423 of the vineyard 3754 of Naboth 5022, the Jezreelite 3158, which 834 he refused 3985 to give 5414 you for money 3701; for Naboth 5022 is not alive 2416a, but dead 4191.”

 21:16 When Ahab 256 heard 8085 that Naboth 5022 was dead 4191, Ahab 256 arose 6965 to go 3381 down 3381 to the vineyard 3754 of Naboth 5022 the Jezreelite 3158, to take 3423 possession 3423 of it.

 21:17 ¶ Then the word 1697 of the LORD 3068 came 1961 to Elijah 452 the Tishbite 8664b, saying 559,

 21:18 “Arise 6965, go 3381 down 3381 to meet 7122 Ahab 256 king 4428 of Israel 3478, who 834 is in Samaria 8111; behold 2009, he is in the vineyard 3754 of Naboth 5022 where 834 8033 he has gone 3381 down 3381 to take 3423 possession 3423 of it.

 21:19 “You shall speak 1696 to him, saying 559, ‘Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068, “Have you murdered 7523 and also 1571 taken 3423 possession 3423?”’ And you shall speak 1696 to him, saying 559, ‘Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068, “In the place 4725 where 834 the dogs 3611 licked 3952 up the blood 1818 of Naboth 5022 the dogs 3611 will lick 3952 up your blood 1818, even 1571 yours 859.”’”

 21:20 ¶ Ahab 256 said 559 to Elijah 452, “Have you found 4672 me, O my enemy 340?” And he answered 559, “I have found 4672 [you], because 3282 you have sold 4376 yourself to do 6213a evil 7451a in the sight 5869 of the LORD 3068.

 21:21 “Behold 2009, I will bring 935 evil 7463a upon you, and will utterly 1197a sweep 1197a you away 1197a, and will cut 3772 off 3772 from Ahab 256 every 8366 male 8366 7023, both bond 6113 and free 5800a in Israel 3478;

 21:22 and I will make 5414 your house 1004 like the house 1004 of Jeroboam 3379 the son 1121 of Nebat 5028, and like the house 1004 of Baasha 1201 the son 1121 of Ahijah 281, because 413 of the provocation 3708a with which 834 you have provoked 3707 [Me] to anger 3707, and [because] you have made Israel 3478 sin 2398.

 21:23 “Of Jezebel 348 also 1571 has the LORD 3068 spoken 1696, saying 559, ‘The dogs 3611 will eat 398 Jezebel 348 in the district 2426 of Jezreel 3157.’

 21:24 “The one belonging to Ahab 256, who dies 4191 in the city 5892b, the dogs 3611 will eat 398, and the one who dies 4191 in the field 7704 the birds 5775 of heaven 8064 will eat 398.”

 21:25 ¶ Surely 7534 there was no 3808 one like Ahab 256 who 834 sold 4376 himself to do 6213a evil 7451a in the sight 5869 of the LORD 3068, because 834 Jezebel 348 his wife 802 incited 5496 him.

 21:26 He acted 8581 very 3966 abominably 8581 in following 1980 310 idols 1544, according to all 3605 that the Amorites 567 had done 6213a, whom 834 the LORD 3068 cast 3423 out before 4480 6440 the sons 1121 of Israel 3478.

 21:27 ¶ It came 1961 about when Ahab 256 heard 8085 these 428 words 1697, that he tore 7167 his clothes 899b and put 7760 on sackcloth 8242 and fasted 6684, and he lay 7901 in sackcloth 8242 and went 1980 about despondently 328.

 21:28 Then the word 1697 of the LORD 3068 came 1961 to Elijah 452 the Tishbite 8664b, saying 559,

 21:29 “Do you see 7200 how 3588 Ahab 256 has humbled 3665 himself before 4480 6440 Me? Because 3282 3588 he has humbled 3665 himself before 4480 6440 Me, I will not bring 935 the evil 7463a in his days 3117, [but] I will bring 935 the evil 7463a upon his house 1004 in his son’s 1121 days 3117.”
