1 Kings 5

1 Hiram, sending to congratulate Solomon, is certified of his purpose to build the Temple, and desired to furnish him with timber thereto. 7 Hiram, blessing God for Solomon, and requesting food for his family, furnisheth him with trees. 13 The number of Solomon's workmen and labourers.

 5:1 Now Hiram 2438 king 4428 of Tyre 6865 sent 7971 his servants 5650 to Solomon 8010, when 3588 he heard 8085 that they had anointed 4886 him king 4428 in place 8478 of his father 1, for Hiram 2438 had 1961 always 3605 3117 been 1961 a friend 157 of David 1732.

 5:2 Then Solomon 8010 sent 7971 [word] to Hiram 2438, saying 559,

 5:3 “You know 3045 that David 1732 my father 1 was unable 3808 3201 to build 1129 a house 1004 for the name 8034 of the LORD 3068 his God 430 because 4480 6440 of the wars 4421 which 834 surrounded 5437 him, until 5704 the LORD 3068 put 5414 them under 8478 the soles 3709 of his feet 7272.

 5:4 “But now 6258 the LORD 3068 my God 430 has given 5117 me rest 5117 on every 5439 side 5439; there 369 is neither 369 adversary 7854 nor 369 misfortune 6294 7451a.

 5:5 “Behold 2009, I intend 559 to build 1129 a house 1004 for the name 8034 of the LORD 3068 my God 430, as the LORD 3068 spoke 1696 to David 1732 my father 1, saying 559, ‘Your son 1121, whom 834 I will set 5414 on your throne 3678 in your place 8478, he will build 1129 the house 1004 for My name 8034.’

 5:6 “Now 6258 therefore, command 6680 that they cut 3772 for me cedars 730 from Lebanon 3844, and my servants 5650 will be with your servants 5650; and I will give 5414 you wages 7939 for your servants 5650 according to all 3605 that you say 559, for you know 3045 that there 369 is no 369 one 376 among us who knows 3045 how to cut 3772 timber 6086 like the Sidonians 6722.”

 5:7 ¶ When Hiram 2438 heard 8085 the words 1697 of Solomon 8010, he rejoiced 8055 greatly 3966 and said 559, “Blessed 1288 be the LORD 3068 today 3117, who 834 has given 5414 to David 1732 a wise 2450 son 1121 over 5921 this 2088 great 7227a people 5971a.”

 5:8 So Hiram 2438 sent 7971 [word] to Solomon 8010, saying 559, “I have heard 8085 [the message] which 834 you have sent 7971 me; I will do 6213a what 2656 you desire 2656 concerning the cedar 730 and cypress 1265 timber 6086.

 5:9 “My servants 5650 will bring 3381 [them] down 3381 from Lebanon 3844 to the sea 3220; and I will make 7760 them into rafts 1702 [to go] by sea 3220 to the place 4725 where 834 you direct 7971 me, and I will have them broken 5310a up there 8033, and you shall carry 5375 [them] away. Then you shall accomplish 6213a my desire 2656 by giving 5414 food 3899 to my household 1004.”

 5:10 So Hiram 2438 gave 5414 Solomon 8010 as much 3605 as he desired 2656 of the cedar 730 and cypress 1265 timber 6086.

 5:11 Solomon 8010 then gave 5414 Hiram 2438 20,000 6242 505 kors 3734a of wheat 2406 as food 4361 for his household 1004, and twenty 6242 kors 3734a of beaten 3795 oil 8081; thus 3541 Solomon 8010 would give 5414 Hiram 2438 year 8141 by year 8141.

 5:12 The LORD 3068 gave 5414 wisdom 2451 to Solomon 8010, just 3512c as He promised 1696 him; and there was peace 7965 between 996 Hiram 2438 and Solomon 8010, and the two 8147 of them made 3772 a covenant 1285.

 5:13 ¶ Now King 4428 Solomon 8010 levied 5927 forced 4522 laborers 4522 from all 3605 Israel 3478; and the forced 4522 laborers 4522 numbered 1961 30,000 7970 505 men 376.

 5:14 He sent 7971 them to Lebanon 3844, 10,000 6235 505 a month 2320 in relays 2487; they were in Lebanon 3844 a month 2320 [and] two 8147 months 2320 at home 1004. And Adoniram 141 [was] over 5921 the forced 4522 laborers 4522.

 5:15 Now Solomon 8010 had 1961 70,000 7657 505 transporters 5449 5375, and 80,000 8084 505 hewers 2672 [of stone] in the mountains 2022,

 5:16 besides 905 4480 Solomon’s 8010 3,300 7969 505 7969 3967 chief 8269 deputies 5324 who 834 [were] over 5921 the project 4399 [and] who ruled 7287a over the people 5971a who were doing 6213a the work 4399.

 5:17 Then the king 4428 commanded 6680, and they quarried 5265 great 1419 stones 68, costly 3368 stones 68, to lay 3245 the foundation 3245 of the house 1004 with cut 1496 stones 68.

 5:18 So Solomon’s 8010 builders 1129 and Hiram’s 2438 builders 1129 and the Gebalites 1382 cut 6458 them, and prepared 3559 the timbers 6086 and the stones 68 to build 1129 the house 1004.
