1 Kings 14

1 Abijah being sick, Jeroboam sendeth his wife disguised with presents to the prophet Ahijah at Shiloh. 5 Ahijah, forewarned by God, denounceth God's judgment. 17 Abijah dieth, and is buried. 19 Nabab succeedeth Jeroboam. 21 Rehoboam's wicked reign. 25 Shishak spoileth Jerusalem. 29 Abijam succeedeth Rehoboam.

 14:1 At that time 6256 Abijah 29 the son 1121 of Jeroboam 3379 became 2470a sick 2470a.

 14:2 Jeroboam 3379 said 559 to his wife 802, “Arise 6965 now 4994, and disguise 8132 yourself so that they will not know 3045 that you are the wife 802 of Jeroboam 3379, and go 1980 to Shiloh 7887; behold 2009, Ahijah 281 the prophet 5030 is there 8033, who 1931 spoke 1696 concerning 5921 me [that I would be] king 4428 over 5921 this 2088 people 5971a.

 14:3 “Take 3947 ten 6235 loaves 3899 with you, [some] cakes 5350 and a jar 1228 of honey 1706, and go 935 to him. He will tell 5046 you what 4100 will happen 1961 to the boy 5288.”

 14:4 ¶ Jeroboam’s 3379 wife 802 did 6213a so 3651, and arose 6965 and went 1980 to Shiloh 7887, and came 935 to the house 1004 of Ahijah 281. Now Ahijah 281 could 3201 not see 7200, for his eyes 5869 were dim 6965 because 4480 of his age 7869.

 14:5 Now the LORD 3068 had said 559 to Ahijah 281, “Behold 2009, the wife 802 of Jeroboam 3379 is coming 935 to inquire 1875 of you concerning 413 her son 1121, for he is sick 2470a. You shall say 1696 thus 2090 and thus 2088 to her, for it will be when she arrives 935 that she will pretend 5235a to be another 5235a woman 5235a.”

 14:6 ¶ When Ahijah 281 heard 8085 the sound 6963 of her feet 7272 coming 935 in the doorway 6607, he said 559, “Come 935 in, wife 802 of Jeroboam 3379, why 4100 do you pretend 5235a to be another 5235a woman 5235a? For I am sent 7971 to you [with] a harsh 7186 [message].

 14:7 “Go 1980, say 559 to Jeroboam 3379, ‘Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068 God 430 of Israel 3478, “Because 3282 834 I exalted 7311 you from among 8432 the people 5971a and made 5414 you leader 5057 over 5921 My people 5971a Israel 3478,

 14:8 and tore 7167 the kingdom 4467 away 7167 from the house 1004 of David 1732 and gave 5414 it to you—yet you have not been 1961 like My servant 5650 David 1732, who 834 kept 8104 My commandments 4687 and who 834 followed 1980 310 Me with all 3605 his heart 3824, to do 6213a only 7534 that which 3477 was right 3477 in My sight 5869;

 14:9 you also have done 6213a more 4480 evil 7489a than 4480 all 3605 who 834 were before 6440 you, and have gone 1980 and made 6213a for yourself other 312 gods 430 and molten 4541a images 4541a to provoke 3707 Me to anger 3707, and have cast 7993 Me behind 310 your back 1458—

 14:10 therefore 3651 behold 2009, I am bringing 935 calamity 7463a on the house 1004 of Jeroboam 3379, and will cut 3772 off 3772 from Jeroboam 3379 every 8366 male 8366 7023 person, both bond 6113 and free 5800a in Israel 3478, and I will make 1197a a clean 1197a sweep 1197a of the house 1004 of Jeroboam 3379, as one sweeps 1197a away 1197a dung 1557 until 5704 it is all 8552 gone 8552.

 14:11 “Anyone belonging to Jeroboam 3379 who dies 4191 in the city 5892b the dogs 3611 will eat 398. And he who dies 4191 in the field 7704 the birds 5775 of the heavens 8064 will eat 398; for the LORD 3068 has spoken 1696 [it].”’

 14:12 “Now you, arise 6965, go 1980 to your house 1004. When your feet 7272 enter 935 the city 5892b the child 3206 will die 4191.

 14:13 “All 3605 Israel 3478 shall mourn 5594 for him and bury 6912 him, for he alone 905 of Jeroboam’s 3379 [family] will come 935 to the grave 6913, because 3282 in him something 1697 good 2896a was found 4672 toward 413 the LORD 3068 God 430 of Israel 3478 in the house 1004 of Jeroboam 3379.

 14:14 “Moreover, the LORD 3068 will raise 6965 up for Himself a king 4428 over 5921 Israel 3478 who 834 will cut 3772 off 3772 the house 1004 of Jeroboam 3379 this 2088 day 3117 and from now 6258 on.

 14:15 ¶ “For the LORD 3068 will strike 5221 Israel 3478, as a reed 7070 is shaken 5110 in the water 4325; and He will uproot 5428 Israel 3478 from this 2088 good 2896a land 127 which 834 He gave 5414 to their fathers 1, and will scatter 2219 them beyond 4480 5676 the [Euphrates] River 5104, because 3282 834 they have made 6213a their Asherim 842, provoking 3707 the LORD 3068 to anger 3707.

 14:16 “He will give 5414 up Israel 3478 on account 1558 of the sins 2403b of Jeroboam 3379, which 834 he committed 2398 and with which 834 he made Israel 3478 to sin 2398.”

 14:17 ¶ Then Jeroboam’s 3379 wife 802 arose 6965 and departed 1980 and came 935 to Tirzah 8656. As she was entering 935 the threshold 5592b of the house 1004, the child 5288 died 4191.

 14:18 All 3605 Israel 3478 buried 6912 him and mourned 5594 for him, according to the word 1697 of the LORD 3068 which 834 He spoke 1696 through 3027 His servant 5650 Ahijah 281 the prophet 5030.

 14:19 ¶ Now the rest 3499a of the acts 1697 of Jeroboam 3379, how 834 he made 3898a war 3898a and how 834 he reigned 4427a, behold 2009, they are written 3789 in the Book 5612 of the Chronicles 1697 3117 of the Kings 4428 of Israel 3478.

 14:20 The time 3117 that Jeroboam 3379 reigned 4427a [was] twenty-two 6242 8147 years 8141; and he slept 7901 with his fathers 1, and Nadab 5070 his son 1121 reigned 4427a in his place 8478.

 14:26 He took 3947 away the treasures 214 of the house 1004 of the LORD 3068 and the treasures 214 of the king’s 4428 house 1004, and he took 3947 everything 3605, even taking 3947 all 3605 the shields 4043 of gold 2091 which 834 Solomon 8010 had made 6213a.

 14:27 So King 4428 Rehoboam 7346 made 6213a shields 4043 of bronze 5178 in their place 8478, and committed 6485 them to the care 3027 of the commanders 8269 of the guard 7323 who guarded 8104 the doorway 6607 of the king’s 4428 house 1004.

 14:28 Then it happened 1961 as often 1767 as the king 4428 entered 935 the house 1004 of the LORD 3068, that the guards 7323 would carry 5375 them and would bring 7725 them back 7725 into the guards’ 7323 room 8372.
