וַתְּהִי צַעֲקַת הָעָם וּנְשֵׁיהֶם גְּדוֹלָה אֶל־אֲחֵיהֶם הַיְּהוּדִים

 5:1 waT'hiy tzaáqat hääm ûn'shëyhem G'dôläh el-áchëyhem haY'hûdiym

 5:1 ¶ And there was x1961 a great 1419 cry 6818 of the people 5971 and of their wives 802 against x413 their brethren 251 the Yæhûđîm יְהוּדִים. 3064

וְיֵשׁ אֲשֶׁר אֹמְרִים בָּנֵינוּ וּבְנֹתֵינוּ אֲנַחְנוּ רַבִּים וְנִקְחָה דָגָן וְנֹאכְלָה וְנִחְיֶה

 5:2 w'yësh ásher om'riym Bänëynû ûv'notëynû ánach'nû raBiym w'niq'chäh dägän w'nokh'läh w'nich'yeh

 5:2 For there were 3426 that x834 said, 559 z8802 We, x587 our sons, 1121 and our daughters, 1323 [are] many: 7227 therefore we take up 3947 z8799 corn 1715 [for them], that we may eat, 398 z8799 and live. 2421 z8799

וְיֵשׁ אֲשֶׁר אֹמְרִים שְׂדֹתֵינוּ וּכְרָמֵינוּ וּבָתֵּינוּ אֲנַחְנוּ עֹרְבִים וְנִקְחָה דָגָן בָּרָעָב

 5:3 w'yësh ásher om'riym s'dotëynû ûkh'rämëynû ûväTëynû ánach'nû or'viym w'niq'chäh dägän Bärääv

 5:3 [Some] also there were 3426 that x834 said, 559 z8802 We x587 have mortgaged 6148 z8802 our lands, 7704 vineyards, 3754 and houses, 1004 that we might buy 3947 z8799 corn, 1715 because of the dearth. 7458

וְיֵשׁ אֲשֶׁר אֹמְרִים לָוִינוּ כֶסֶף לְמִדַּת הַמֶּלֶךְ שְׂדֹתֵינוּ וּכְרָמֵינוּ

 5:4 w'yësh ásher om'riym läwiynû khešef l'miDat haMelekh' s'dotëynû ûkh'rämëynû

 5:4 There were 3426 also that x834 said, 559 z8802 We have borrowed 3867 z8804 money 3701 for the king's 4428 tribute, 4060 [and that upon] our lands 7704 and vineyards. 3754

וְעַתָּה כִּבְשַׂר אַחֵינוּ בְּשָׂרֵנוּ כִּבְנֵיהֶם בָּנֵינוּ וְהִנֵּה אֲנַחְנוּ כֹבְשִׁים אֶת־בָּנֵינוּ וְאֶת־בְּנֹתֵינוּ לַעֲבָדִים וְיֵשׁ מִבְּנֹתֵינוּ נִכְבָּשׁוֹת וְאֵין לְאֵל יָדֵנוּ וּשְׂדֹתֵינוּ וּכְרָמֵינוּ לַאֲחֵרִים

 5:5 w'aTäh Kiv'sar achëynû B'särënû Kiv'nëyhem Bänëynû w'hiNëh ánach'nû khov'shiym et-Bänëynû w'et-B'notëynû laávädiym w'yësh miB'notëynû nikh'Bäshôt w'ëyn l'ël yädënû ûs'dotëynû ûkh'rämëynû laáchëriym

 5:5 Yet now x6258 our flesh 1320 [is] as the flesh 1320 of our brethren, 251 our children 1121 as their children: 1121 and, lo, x2009 we x587 bring into bondage 3533 z8802 x853 our sons 1121 and our daughters 1323 to be servants, 5650 and [some] of our daughters 1323 x4480 are 3426 brought unto bondage 3533 z8737 [already]: neither x369 [is it] in our power 410 3027 [to redeem them]; for other x312 men y312 have our lands 7704 and vineyards. 3754

וַיִּחַר לִי מְאֹד כַּאֲשֶׁר שָׁמַעְתִּי אֶת־זַעֲקָתָם וְאֵת הַדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה

 5:6 waYichar liy m'od Kaásher shäma'Tiy et-zaáqätäm w'ët haD'väriym häëLeh

 5:6 ¶ And I was very 3966 angry 2734 z8799 when x834 I heard 8085 z8804 x853 their cry 2201 and these x428 words. 1697

וַיִּמָּלֵךְ לִבִּי עָלַי וָאָרִיבָה אֶת־הַחֹרִים וְאֶת־הַסְּגָנִים וָאֹמְרָה לָהֶם מַשָּׁא אִישׁ־בְּאָחִיו אַתֶּם נֹשִׁאים וָאֶתֵּן עֲלֵיהֶם קְהִלָּה גְדוֹלָה

 5:7 waYiMälëkh' liBiy älay wääriyväh et-hachoriym w'et-haŠ'gäniym wäom'räh lähem maSHä iysh-B'ächiyw aTem noshiym wäeTën álëyhem q'hiLäh g'dôläh

 5:7 Then I consulted 4427 z8735 with x5921 myself, 3820 and I rebuked 7378 z8799 x853 the nobles, 2715 and the rulers, 5461 and said 559 z8799 unto them, Ye x859 exact 5378 z8802 z8801 z8678 y5383 z8675 y5375 usury, 4855 every one 376 of his brother. 251 And I set 5414 z8799 a great 1419 assembly 6952 against x5921 them.

וָאֹמְרָה לָהֶם אֲנַחְנוּ קָנִינוּ אֶת־אַחֵינוּ הַיְּהוּדִים הַנִּמְכָּרִים לַגּוֹיִם כְּדֵי בָנוּ וְגַם־אַתֶּם תִּמְכְּרוּ אֶת־אֲחֵיכֶם וְנִמְכְּרוּ־לָנוּ וַיַּחֲרִישׁוּ וְלֹא מָצְאוּ דָּבָר ס

 5:8 wäom'räh lähem ánach'nû qäniynû et-achëynû haY'hûdiym haNim'Käriym laGôyim K'dëy vänû w'gam-aTem Tim'K'rû et-áchëykhem w'nim'K'rû-länû waYacháriyshû w'lo mätz'û Dävär š

 5:8 And I said 559 z8799 unto them, We x587 after our ability 1767 have redeemed 7069 z8804 x853 our brethren 251 the Yæhûđîm יְהוּדִים, 3064 which were sold 4376 z8737 unto the heathen; 1471 and will ye x859 even x1571 sell 4376 z8799 x853 your brethren? 251 or shall they be sold 4376 z8738 unto us? *וַיֹּאמֶר [וָאוֹמַר] לֹא־טוֹב הַדָּבָר אֲשֶׁר־אַתֶּם עֹשִׂים הֲלוֹא בְּיִרְאַת אֱלֹהֵינוּ תֵּלֵכוּ מֵחֶרְפַּת הַגּוֹיִם אוֹיְבֵינוּ

 5:9 *waYomer [wäômar] lo-ţôv haDävär ásher-aTem osiym hálô B'yir'at élohëynû Tëlëkhû mëcher'Pat haGôyim ôy'vëynû

 5:9 Also I said, 559 z8799 It [is] not x3808 good 2896 x1697 that y1697 x834 ye x859 do: 6213 z8802 ought ye not x3808 to walk y3212 z8799 x1980 in the fear 3374 of our ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים 430 because of the reproach 2781 x4480 of the heathen 1471 our enemies? 341 z8802

וְגַם־אֲנִי אַחַי וּנְעָרַי נֹשִׁים בָּהֶם כֶּסֶף וְדָגָן נַעַזְבָה־נָּא אֶת־הַמַּשָּׁא הַזֶּה

 5:10 w'gam-ániy achay ûn'äray noshiym Bähem Kešef w'dägän naaz'väh-Nä et-haMaSHä haZeh

 5:10 I x589 likewise, x1571 [and] my brethren, 251 and my servants, 5288 might exact 5383 z8802 of them money 3701 and corn: 1715 I pray x4994 you, let us leave off 5800 z8799 x853 this x2088 usury. 4855

הָשִׁיבוּ נָא לָהֶם כְּהַיּוֹם שְׂדֹתֵיהֶם כַּרְמֵיהֶם זֵיתֵיהֶם וּבָתֵּיהֶם וּמְאַת הַכֶּסֶף וְהַדָּגָן הַתִּירוֹשׁ וְהַיִּצְהָר אֲשֶׁר אַתֶּם נֹשִׁים בָּהֶם

 5:11 häshiyvû nä lähem K'haYôm s'dotëyhem Kar'mëyhem zëytëyhem ûväTëyhem ûm'at haKešef w'haDägän haTiyrôsh w'haYitz'här ásher aTem noshiym Bähem

 5:11 Restore, 7725 z8685 I pray x4994 you, to them, even this day, 3117 their lands, 7704 their vineyards, 3754 their oliveyards, 2132 and their houses, 1004 also the hundredth 3967 [part] of the money, 3701 and of the corn, 1715 the wine, 8492 and the oil, 3323 that x834 ye x859 exact 5383 z8802 of them.

וַיֹּאמְרוּ נָשִׁיב וּמֵהֶם לֹא נְבַקֵּשׁ כֵּן נַעֲשֶׂה כַּאֲשֶׁר אַתָּה אוֹמֵר וָאֶקְרָא אֶת־הַכֹּהֲנִים וָאַשְׁבִּיעֵם לַעֲשׂוֹת כַּדָּבָר הַזֶּה

 5:12 waYom'rû näshiyv ûmëhem lo n'vaQësh Kën naáseh Kaásher aTäh ômër wäeq'rä et-haKohániym wäash'Biyëm laásôt KaDävär haZeh

 5:12 Then said 559 z8799 they, We will restore 7725 z8686 [them], and will require 1245 z8762 nothing x3808 of x4480 them; so x3651 will we do 6213 z8799 as x834 thou x859 sayest. 559 z8802 Then I called 7121 z8799 x853 the priests, 3548 and took an oath 7650 z8686 of them, that they should do 6213 z8800 according to this x2088 promise. 1697

גַּם־חָצְנִי נָעַרְתִּי וָאֹמְרָה כָּכָה יְנַעֵר הָאֱלֹהִים אֶת־כָּל־הָאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר לֹא־יָקִים אֶת־הַדָּבָר הַזֶּה מִבֵּיתוֹ וּמִיגִיעוֹ וְכָכָה יִהְיֶה נָעוּר וָרֵק וַיֹּאמְרוּ כָל־הַקָּהָל אָמֵן וַיְהַלְלוּ אֶת־יְהוָה וַיַּעַשׂ הָעָם כַּדָּבָר הַזֶּה

 5:13 Gam-chätz'niy näar'Tiy wäom'räh Käkhäh y'naër häélohiym et-Käl-häiysh ásher lo-yäqiym et-haDävär haZeh miBëytô ûmiygiyô w'khäkhäh yih'yeh näûr wärëq waYom'rû khäl-haQähäl ämën way'hal'lû et-y'hwäh waYaas hääm KaDävär haZeh

 5:13 Also x1571 I shook 5287 z8804 my lap, 2684 and said, 559 z8799 So x3602 ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים 430 shake out 5287 z8762 x853 every x3605 man 376 from his house, 1004 x4480 and from his labour, 3018 x4480 that x834 performeth 6965 z8686 not x3808 x853 this x2088 promise, 1697 even thus x3602 be x1961 he shaken out, 5287 z8803 and emptied. 7386 And all x3605 the congregation 6951 said, 559 z8799 Amen, 543 and praised 1984 z8762 x853 Yähwè יָהוֶה. 3068 And the people 5971 did 6213 z8799 according to this x2088 promise. 1697

גַּם מִיּוֹם אֲשֶׁר־צִוָּה אֹתִי לִהְיוֹת פֶּחָם בְּאֶרֶץ יְהוּדָה מִשְּׁנַת עֶשְׂרִים וְעַד שְׁנַת שְׁלֹשִׁים וּשְׁתַּיִם לְאַרְתַּחְשַׁסְתְּא הַמֶּלֶךְ שָׁנִים שְׁתֵּים עֶשְׂרֵה אֲנִי וְאַחַי לֶחֶם הַפֶּחָה לֹא אָכַלְתִּי

 5:14 Gam miYôm ásher-tziûäh otiy lih'yôt Pechäm B'eretz y'hûdäh miSH'nat es'riym w'ad sh'nat sh'loshiym ûsh'Tayim l'ar'Tach'shaš'T' haMelekh' shäniym sh'Tëym es'rëh ániy w'achay lechem haPechäh lo äkhal'Tiy

 5:14 ¶ Moreover x1571 from the time 3117 x4480 that x834 I was appointed 6680 z8765 to be x1961 their governor 6346 in the land 776 of Yæhûđà יְהוּדָה, 3063 from the twentieth 6242 year 8141 x4480 even unto x5704 the two 8147 and thirtieth 7970 year 8141 of ´Artaçšaŝtä´ אַרתַּחשַׁשׂתָּא 783 the king, 4428 [that is], twelve 8147 6240 years, 8141 I x589 and my brethren 251 have not x3808 eaten 398 z8804 the bread 3899 of the governor. 6346

וְהַפַּחוֹת הָרִאשֹׁנִים אֲשֶׁר־לְפָנַי הִכְבִּידוּ עַל־הָעָם וַיִּקְחוּ מֵהֶם בְּלֶחֶם וָיַיִן אַחַר כֶּסֶף־שְׁקָלִים אַרְבָּעִים גַּם נַעֲרֵיהֶם שָׁלְטוּ עַל־הָעָם וַאֲנִי לֹא־עָשִׂיתִי כֵן מִפְּנֵי יִרְאַת אֱלֹהִים

 5:15 w'haPachôt härishoniym ásher-l'fänay hikh'Biydû al-hääm waYiq'chû mëhem B'lechem wäyayin achar Kešef-sh'qäliym ar'Bäiym Gam naárëyhem shäl'ţû al-hääm waániy lo-äsiytiy khën miP'nëy yir'at élohiym

 5:15 But the former 7223 governors 6346 that x834 [had been] before 6440 me were chargeable 3513 z8689 unto x5921 the people, 5971 and had taken 3947 z8799 of x4480 them bread 3899 and wine, 3196 beside 310 forty 705 shekels 8255 of silver; 3701 yea, x1571 even y1571 their servants 5288 bare rule 7980 z8804 over x5921 the people: 5971 but so x3651 did 6213 z8804 not x3808 I, x589 because 6440 x4480 of the fear 3374 of ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים. 430

וְגַם בִּמְלֶאכֶת הַחוֹמָה הַזֹּאת הֶחֱזַקְתִּי וְשָׂדֶה לֹא קָנִינוּ וְכָל־נְעָרַי קְבוּצִים שָׁם עַל־הַמְּלָאכָה

 5:16 w'gam Bim'lekhet hachômäh haZot hechézaq'Tiy w'sädeh lo qäniynû w'khäl-n'äray q'vûtziym shäm al-haM'läkhäh

 5:16 Yea, also x1571 I continued 2388 z8689 in the work 4399 of this x2063 wall, 2346 neither x3808 bought 7069 z8804 we any land: 7704 and all x3605 my servants 5288 [were] gathered 6908 z8803 thither x8033 unto x5921 the work. 4399

וְהַיְּהוּדִים וְהַסְּגָנִים מֵאָה וַחֲמִשִּׁים אִישׁ וְהַבָּאִים אֵלֵינוּ מִן־הַגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר־סְבִיבֹתֵינוּ עַל־שֻׁלְחָנִי

 5:17 w'haY'hûdiym w'haŠ'gäniym mëäh wachámiSHiym iysh w'haBäiym ëlëynû min-haGôyim ásher-š'viyvotëynû al-shul'chäniy

 5:17 Moreover [there were] at x5921 my table 7979 an hundred 3967 and fifty 2572 376 of the Yæhûđîm יְהוּדִים 3064 and rulers, 5461 beside those that came 935 z8802 unto x413 us from among x4480 the heathen 1471 that x834 [are] about x5439 us. y5439

וַאֲשֶׁר הָיָה נַעֲשֶׂה לְיוֹם אֶחָד שׁוֹר אֶחָד צֹאן שֵׁשׁ־בְּרֻרוֹת וְצִפֳּרִים נַעֲשׂוּ־לִי וּבֵין עֲשֶׂרֶת יָמִים בְּכָל־יַיִן לְהַרְבֵּה וְעִם־זֶה לֶחֶם הַפֶּחָה לֹא בִקַּשְׁתִּי כִּי־כָבְדָה הָעֲבֹדָה עַל־הָעָם הַזֶּה

 5:18 waásher häyäh naáseh l'yôm echäd shôr echäd tzon shësh-B'rurôt w'tziPóriym naásû-liy ûvëyn áseret yämiym B'khäl-yayin l'har'Bëh w'im-zeh lechem haPechäh lo viQash'Tiy Kiy-khäv'däh häávodäh al-hääm haZeh

 5:18 Now [that] which x834 was x1961 prepared 6213 z8737 [for me] daily 3117 x259 [was] one 259 ox 7794 [and] six 8337 choice 1305 z8803 sheep; 6629 also fowls 6833 were prepared 6213 z8738 for me, and once x996 in ten 6235 days 3117 store 7235 z8687 of all x3605 sorts of wine: 3196 yet for all 5973 this x2088 required 1245 z8765 not x3808 I the bread 3899 of the governor, 6346 because x3588 the bondage 5656 was heavy 3513 z8804 upon x5921 this x2088 people. 5971

זָכְרָה־לִּי אֱלֹהַי לְטוֹבָה כֹּל אֲשֶׁר־עָשִׂיתִי עַל־הָעָם הַזֶּה פ

 5:19 zäkh'räh-Liy élohay l'ţôväh Kol ásher-äsiytiy al-hääm haZeh f

 5:19 Think 2142 z8798 upon me, my ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים, 430 for good, 2896 [according] to all x3605 that x834 I have done 6213 z8804 for x5921 this x2088 people. 5971
