Acts 9

1 Saul, going towards Damascus, 4 is stricken down to the earth, 10 is called to the apostleship, 18 and is baptized by Ananias. 20 He preacheth Christ boldly. 23 The Jews lay wait to kill him: 29 so do the Grecians, but he escapeth both. 31 The Church having rest, Peter healeth Eneas of the palsy, 36 and restoreth Tabitha to life.

 9:1 Now 1161 Saul 4569, still 2089 breathing 1709 threats 547 and murder 5408 against 1519 the disciples 3101 of the Lord 2962, went 4334 to the high 749 priest 749,

 9:2 and asked 154 for letters 1992 from him to the synagogues 4864 at Damascus 1154, so 3704 that if 1437 he found 2147 any 5100 belonging 1510 to the Way 3598, both 5037 men 435 and women 1135, he might bring 71 them bound 1210 to Jerusalem 2419.

 9:3 As he was traveling 4198, it happened 1096 that he was approaching 1448 Damascus 1154, and suddenly 1810 a light 5457 from heaven 3772 flashed 4015b around 4015b him;

 9:4 and he fell 4098 to the ground 1093 and heard 191 a voice 5456 saying 3004 to him, “Saul 4549, Saul 4549, why 5101 are you persecuting 1377 Me?”

 9:5 And he said 3004, “Who 5101 are You, Lord 2962?” And He [said], “I am 1510 Jesus 2424 whom 3739 you are persecuting 1377,

 9:6 but get 450 up and enter 1525 the city 4172, and it will be told 2980 you what 3739 5101 you must 1163 do 4160.”

 9:7 The men 435 who traveled 4922 with him stood 2476 speechless 1753a, hearing 191 the voice 5456 but seeing 2334 no 3367 one 3367.

 9:8 Saul 4569 got 1453 up from the ground 1093, and though his eyes 3788 were open 455, he could see 991 nothing 3762; and leading 5496 him by the hand 5496, they brought 1521 him into Damascus 1154.

 9:9 And he was three 5140 days 2250 without 3361 sight 991, and neither 3756 ate 2068 nor 3761 drank 4095.

 9:10 ¶ Now 1161 there was a disciple 3101 at Damascus 1154 named 3686 Ananias 367; and the Lord 2962 said 3004 to him in a vision 3705, “Ananias 367.” And he said 3004, “Here 2400 I am, Lord 2962.”

 9:11 And the Lord 2962 [said] to him, “Get 450 up and go 4198 to the street 4505 called 2564 Straight 2117, and inquire 2212 at the house 3614 of Judas 2455 for a man from Tarsus 5018 named 3686 Saul 4569, for he is praying 4336,

 9:12 and he has seen 3708 in a vision 3705 a man 435 named 3686 Ananias 367 come 1525 in and lay 2007 his hands 5495 on him, so 3704 that he might regain 308 his sight 308.”

 9:13 But Ananias 367 answered 611, “Lord 2962, I have heard 191 from many 4183 about 4012 this 3778 man 435, how 3745 much 3745 harm 2556 he did 4160 to Your saints 40 at Jerusalem 2419;

 9:14 and here 5602 he has 2192 authority 1849 from the chief 749 priests 749 to bind 1210 all 3956 who call 1941 on Your name 3686.”

 9:15 But the Lord 2962 said 3004 to him, “Go 4198, for he is a chosen 1589 instrument 4632 of Mine 1473, to bear 941 My name 3686 before 1799 the Gentiles 1484 and kings 935 and the sons 5207 of Israel 2274;

 9:16 for I will show 5263 him how 3745 much 3745 he must 1163 suffer 3958 for My name’s 3686 sake 5228.”

 9:17 So 3704 Ananias 367 departed 565 and entered 1525 the house 3614, and after laying 2007 his hands 5495 on him said 3004, “Brother 80 Saul 4549, the Lord 2962 Jesus 2424, who appeared 3708 to you on the road 3598 by which 3739 you were coming 2064, has sent 649 me so 3704 that you may regain 308 your sight 308 and be filled 4092a with the Holy 40 Spirit 4151.”

 9:18 And immediately 2112 there fell 634 from his eyes 3788 something like 5613 scales 3013, and he regained 308 his sight 308, and he got 450 up and was baptized 907;

 9:19 and he took 2983 food 5160 and was strengthened 1765. ¶ Now 1161 for several 5100 days 2250 he was with the disciples 3101 who were at Damascus 1154,

 9:20 and immediately 2112 he [began] to proclaim 2784 Jesus 2424 in the synagogues 4864, saying 3754, “He is the Son 5207 of God 2316.”

 9:21 All 3956 those 3588 hearing 191 him continued to be amazed 1839, and were saying 3004, “Is this 3778 not he who in Jerusalem 2419 destroyed 4199 those 3588 who called 1941 on this 3778 name 3686, and [who] had come 2064 here 5602 for the purpose of bringing 71 them bound 1210 before 1909 the chief 749 priests 749?”

 9:22 But Saul 4569 kept increasing 1743 in strength 1743 and confounding 4797 the Jews 2453 who lived 2730 at Damascus 1154 by proving 4822 that this 3778 [Jesus] is the Christ 5547.

 9:23 ¶ When 5613 many 2425 days 2250 had elapsed 4137, the Jews 2453 plotted 4823 together 4823 to do 337 away 337 with him,

 9:24 but their plot 1917 became known 1097 to Saul 4569. They were also 2532 watching 3906 the gates 4439 day 2250 and night 3571 so 3704 that they might put 337 him to death 337;

 9:27 But Barnabas 921 took 1949 hold 1949 of him and brought 71 him to the apostles 652 and described 1334 to them how 4459 he had seen 3708 the Lord 2962 on the road 3598, and that He had talked 2980 to him, and how 4459 at Damascus 1154 he had spoken 3955 out boldly 3955 in the name 3686 of Jesus 2424.

 9:28 And he was with them, moving 1531 2532 1607 about 1531 2532 1607 freely 1531 2532 1607 in Jerusalem 2419, speaking 3955 out boldly 3955 in the name 3686 of the Lord 2962.

 9:30 But when the brethren 80 learned 1921 [of it], they brought 2609 him down 2609 to Caesarea 2542 and sent 1821 him away 1821 to Tarsus 5019.

 9:31 ¶ So 3767 the church 1577 throughout 2596 all 3650 Judea 2453 and Galilee 1056 and Samaria 4540 enjoyed 2192 peace 1515, being built 3618 up; and going 4198 on in the fear 5401 of the Lord 2962 and in the comfort 3874 of the Holy 40 Spirit 4151, it continued to increase 4129.

 9:32 ¶ Now 1161 as Peter 4074 was traveling 1330 through 1330 all 3956 [those regions], he came 2718 down 2718 also 2532 to the saints 40 who lived 2730 at Lydda 3069.

 9:33 There 1563 he found 2147 a man 444 named 3686 Aeneas 132, who had been bedridden 2621 1909 2895 eight 3638 years 2094, for he was paralyzed 3886.

 9:34 Peter 4074 said 3004 to him, “Aeneas 132, Jesus 2424 Christ 5547 heals 2390 you; get 450 up and make 4766 your bed 4766.” Immediately 2112 he got 450 up.

 9:35 And all 3956 who lived 2730 at Lydda 3069 and Sharon 4565 saw 3708 him, and they turned 1994 to the Lord 2962.

 9:36 ¶ Now 1161 in Joppa 2445 there was a disciple 3102a named 3686 Tabitha 5000 (which 3739 translated 1329 [in Greek] is called 3004 Dorcas 1393); this 3778 woman 3778 was abounding 4134 with deeds 2041 of kindness 18 and charity 1654 which 3739 she continually did 4160.

 9:37 And it happened 1096 at that time 2250 that she fell 770 sick 770 and died 599; and when they had washed 3068 her body, they laid 5087 it in an upper 5253 room 5253.

 9:38 Since Lydda 3069 was near 1451 Joppa 2445, the disciples 3101, having heard 191 that Peter 4074 was there 1722 846, sent 649 two 1417 men 435 to him, imploring 3870 him, “Do not delay 3635 in coming 1330 to us.”

 9:39 So 1161 Peter 4074 arose 450 and went 4905 with them. When 3854 he arrived 3854, they brought 321 him into the upper 5253 room 5253; and all 3956 the widows 5503 stood 3936 beside 3936 him, weeping 2799 and showing 1925 all 3745 the tunics 5509 and garments 2440 that Dorcas 1393 used to make 4160 while 3745 she was with them.

 9:40 But Peter 4074 sent 1544b them all 3956 out and knelt 1119 5087 down 5087 1119 and prayed 4336, and turning 1994 to the body 4983, he said 3004, “Tabitha 5000, arise 450.” And she opened 455 her eyes 3788, and when she saw 3708 Peter 4074, she sat 339 up.

 9:41 And he gave 1325 her his hand 5495 and raised 450 her up; and calling 5455 the saints 40 and widows 5503, he presented 3936 her alive 2198.

 9:42 It became 1096 known 1110 all 3650 over 2596 Joppa 2445, and many 4183 believed 4100 in the Lord 2962.

 9:43 And Peter stayed 3306 many 2425 days 2250 in Joppa 2445 with a tanner 1038 [named] Simon 4613.
