Acts 28

1 Paul after his shipwreck is kindly entertained of the barbarians. 5 The viper on his hand hurteth him not. 8 He healeth many diseases in the island. 11 They depart towards Rome. 17 He declareth to the Jews the cause of his coming. 24 After his preaching some were persuaded, and some believed not. 30 Yet he preacheth there two years.

 28:1 When they had been brought 1295 safely 1295 through 1295, then 5119 we found 1921 out that the island 3520 was called 2564 Malta 3194.

 28:2 The natives 915 showed 3930 us extraordinary 5177 kindness 5363; for because 1223 of the rain 5205 that had set 2186 in and because 1223 of the cold 5592, they kindled 681 a fire 4443 and received 4355 us all 3956.

 28:3 But when Paul 3972 had gathered 4962 a bundle 4128 of sticks 5434 and laid 2007 them on the fire 4443, a viper 2191 came 1831 out because 575 of the heat 2329 and fastened 2510 itself on his hand 5495.

 28:4 When 5613 the natives 915 saw 3708 the creature 2342 hanging 2910 from his hand 5495, they [began] saying 3004 to one 240 another 240, “Undoubtedly 3843 this 3778 man 444 is a murderer 5406, and though he has been saved 1295 from the sea 2281, justice 1349 has not allowed 1439 him to live 2198.”

 28:5 However 3303a 3767 he shook 660 the creature 2342 off 660 into the fire 4442 and suffered 3958 no 3762 harm 2556.

 28:6 But they were expecting 4328 that he was about 3195 to swell 4092b up or 2228 suddenly 869 fall 2667 down 2667 dead 3498. But after they had waited 4328 a long 4183 time and had seen 2334 nothing 3367 unusual 824 happen 1096 to him, they changed 3328 their minds 3328 and [began] to say 3004 that he was a god 2316.

 28:7 ¶ Now 1161 in the neighborhood 4012 of that place 5117 were lands 5564 belonging to the leading 4413 man 4413 of the island 3520, named 3686 Publius 4196, who 3739 welcomed 324 us and entertained 3579 us courteously 5390 three 5140 days 2250.

 28:8 And it happened 1096 that the father 3962 of Publius 4196 was lying 2621 [in bed] afflicted 4912 with [recurrent] fever 4446 and dysentery 1420; and Paul 3972 went 1525 in [to see] him and after he had prayed 4336, he laid 2007 his hands 5495 on him and healed 2390 him.

 28:9 After this 3778 had happened 1096, the rest 3062 of the people on the island 3520 who had 2192 diseases 769 were coming 4334 to him and getting 2323 cured 2323.

 28:10 They also honored 5091 us with many 4183 marks 5092 of respect 5092; and when we were setting 321 sail 321, they supplied 2007 [us] with all 3588 we needed 5532.

 28:11 ¶ At the end 3326 of three 5140 months 3376 we set 321 sail 321 on an Alexandrian 222 ship 4143 which had wintered 3914 at the island 3520, and which had 3902 the Twin 1359 Brothers 1359 for its figurehead 3902.

 28:12 After we put 2609 in at Syracuse 4946, we stayed 1961 there for three 5140 days 2250.

 28:13 From there 3606 we sailed 4022 around 4022 and arrived 2658 at Rhegium 4484, and a day 2250 later 3326 a south 3558 wind 3558 sprang 1920 up, and on the second 1206 day 1206 we came 2064 to Puteoli 4223.

 28:14 There 3757 we found 2147 [some] brethren 80, and were invited 3870 to stay 1961 with them for seven 2033 days 2250; and thus 3779 we came 2064 to Rome 4516.

 28:15 And the brethren 80, when they heard 191 about 4012 us, came 2064 from there 2547 as far 891 as the Market 5410 of Appius 675 and Three 5140 Inns 4999 to meet 529 us; and when Paul 3972 saw 3708 them, he thanked 2168 God 2316 and took 2983 courage 2294.

 28:16 ¶ When 3753 we entered 1525 Rome 4516, Paul 3972 was allowed 2010 to stay 3306 by himself 1438, with the soldier 4757 who was guarding 5442 him.

 28:17 ¶ After 3326 three 5140 days 2250 Paul called 4779 together 4779 those 3588 who were the leading 4413 men 4413 of the Jews 2453, and when they came 4905 together 4905, he [began] saying 3004 to them, “Brethren 435 80, though I had done 4160 nothing 3762 against 1727 our people 2992 or 2228 the customs 1485 of our fathers 3971, yet I was delivered 3860 as a prisoner 1198 from Jerusalem 2414 into the hands 5495 of the Romans 4514.

 28:18 “And when they had examined 350 me, they were willing 1014 to release 630 me because 1223 there was no 3367 ground 156 for putting me to death 2288.

 28:19 “But when the Jews 2453 objected 483, I was forced 315 to appeal 1941 to Caesar 2541, not that I had 2192 any 5100 accusation 2723 against 2723 my nation 1484.

 28:20 “For this 3778 reason 156, therefore 3767, I requested 3870 to see 3708 you and to speak 4354 with you, for I am wearing 4029 this 3778 chain 254 for the sake 1752a of the hope 1680 of Israel 2274.”

 28:21 They said 3004 to him, “We have neither 3777 received 1209 letters 1121 from Judea 2453 concerning 4012 you, nor 3777 have any 5100 of the brethren 80 come 3854 here 3854 and reported 518 or 2228 spoken 2980 anything 5100 bad 4190 about 4012 you.

 28:22 “But we desire 515 to hear 191 from you what 3739 your views 5426 are; for concerning 4012 this 3778 sect 139, it is known 1110 to us that it is spoken 483 against 483 everywhere 3837.”

 28:23 ¶ When they had set 5021 a day 2250 for Paul, they came 2064 to him at his lodging 3578 in large 4183 numbers 4183; and he was explaining 1620 to them by solemnly 1263 testifying 1263 about the kingdom 932 of God 2316 and trying to persuade 3982 them concerning 4012 Jesus 2424, from both 5037 the Law 3551 of Moses 3475 and from the Prophets 4396, from morning 4404 until 2193 evening 2073.

 28:24 Some 3588 were being persuaded 3982 by the things 3004 spoken 3004, but others 3588 would 569 not believe 569.

 28:25 And when they did not agree 800 with one 240 another 240, they [began] leaving 630 after Paul 3972 had spoken 3004 one 1520 [parting] word 4487, “The Holy 40 Spirit 4151 rightly 2573 spoke 2980 through 1223 Isaiah 2268 the prophet 4396 to your fathers 3962,

 28:26 saying 3004, ‘GO 4198 TO THIS 3778 PEOPLE 2992 AND SAY 3004, “YOU WILL KEEP 189 ON HEARING 191, BUT WILL NOT UNDERSTAND 4920; AND YOU WILL KEEP 991 ON SEEING 991, BUT WILL NOT PERCEIVE 3708;

 28:27 FOR THE HEART 2588 OF THIS 3778 PEOPLE 2992 HAS BECOME 3975 DULL 3975, AND WITH THEIR EARS 3775 THEY SCARCELY 917 HEAR 191, AND THEY HAVE CLOSED 2576 THEIR EYES 3788; OTHERWISE 3379 THEY MIGHT SEE 3708 WITH THEIR EYES 3788, AND HEAR 191 WITH THEIR EARS 3775, AND UNDERSTAND 4920 WITH THEIR HEART 2588 AND RETURN 1994, AND I WOULD HEAL 2390 THEM.”’

 28:28 “Therefore 3767 let it be known 1110 to you that this 3778 salvation 4992 of God 2316 has been sent 649 to the Gentiles 1484; they will also 2532 listen 191.”

 28:29 [[When he had spoken 3004 these 3778 words, the Jews 2453 departed 565, having 2192 a great 4183 dispute 4803 among 1722 themselves 1438.]]

 28:30 ¶ And he stayed 1696 two 1333 full 3650 years 1333 in his own 2398 rented 3410 quarters 3410 and was welcoming 588 all 3956 who came 1531 to him,

 28:31 preaching 2784 the kingdom 932 of God 2316 and teaching 1321 concerning 4012 the Lord 2962 Jesus 2424 Christ 5547 with all 3956 openness 3954, unhindered 209.
