Acts 27

1 Paul shipping toward Rome, 10 foretelleth of the danger of the voyage, 11 but is not believed. 14 They are tossed to and fro with tempest, 41 and suffer shipwreck; 22, 34, 44 yet all come safe to land.

 27:1 When 5613 it was decided 2919 that we would sail 636 for Italy 2482, they proceeded to deliver 3860 Paul 3972 and some 5100 other 2087 prisoners 1202 to a centurion 1543 of the Augustan 4575 cohort 4686 named 3686 Julius 2457.

 27:8 and with difficulty 3433 sailing 3881 past 3881 it we came 2064 to a place 5117 called 2564 Fair 2568 Havens 2568, near 1451 which 3739 was the city 4172 of Lasea 2996.

 27:9 ¶ When considerable 2425 time 5550 had passed 1230 and the voyage 4144 was now 2235 dangerous 2000, since 1223 even 2532 the fast 3521 was already 2235 over 3928, Paul 3972 [began] to admonish 3867 them,

 27:10 and said 3004 to them, “Men 435, I perceive 2334 that the voyage 4144 will 3195 certainly 3195 be with damage 5196 and great 4183 loss 2209, not only 3440 of the cargo 5413 and the ship 4143, but also 2532 of our lives 5590.”

 27:11 But the centurion 1543 was more 3123 persuaded 3982 by the pilot 2942 and the captain 3490 of the ship 3490 than 2228 by what was being said 3004 by Paul 3972.

 27:12 Because the harbor 3040 was not suitable 428 for wintering 3915, the majority 4183 reached 5087 a decision 1012 to put 321 out to sea 321 from there 1564, if 1487 somehow 4458 they could 1410 reach 2658 Phoenix 5405, a harbor 3040 of Crete 2914, facing 991 southwest 3047 and northwest 5566, and spend 3914 the winter 3914 [there].

 27:18 The next 1836 day as we were being violently 4971 storm-tossed 5492, they began to jettison 1546 the cargo 1546;

 27:19 and on the third 5154 day they threw 4496 the ship’s 4143 tackle 4631 overboard with their own 849b hands 849b.

 27:22 “[Yet] now 3568 I urge 3867 you to keep 2114 up your courage 2114, for there will be no 3762 loss 580 of life 5590 among 1537 you, but [only] of the ship 4143.

 27:23 “For this 3778 very night 3571 an angel 32a of the God 2316 to whom 3739 I belong 1510 and whom 3739 I serve 3000 stood 3936 before 3936 me,

 27:24 saying 3004, ‘Do not be afraid 5399, Paul 3972; you must 1163 stand 3936 before 3936 Caesar 2541; and behold 2400, God 2316 has granted 5483 you all 3956 those 3588 who are sailing 4126 with you.’

 27:29 Fearing 5399 that we might run 1601b aground 1601b somewhere 4225 on the rocks 5138, they cast 4496 four 5064 anchors 45 from the stern 4403 and wished 2172 for daybreak 2250.

 27:30 But as the sailors 3492 were trying 2212 to escape 5343 from the ship 4143 and had let 5465 down 5465 the [ship’s] boat 4627 into the sea 2281, on the pretense 4392 of intending 3195 to lay 1614 out anchors 45 from the bow 4408,

 27:31 Paul 3972 said 3004 to the centurion 1543 and to the soldiers 4757, “Unless 1437 3361 these 3778 men 3778 remain 3306 in the ship 4143, you yourselves 4771 cannot 1410 3756 be saved 4982.”

 27:32 Then 5119 the soldiers 4757 cut 609 away 609 the ropes 4979 of the [ship’s] boat 4627 and let 1439 it fall 1601b away 1601b.

 27:33 ¶ Until 891 the day 2250 was about 3195 to dawn 1096, Paul 3972 was encouraging 3870 them all 537a to take 3335 some food 5160, saying 3004, “Today 4594 is the fourteenth 5065a day 2250 that you have been constantly 1300 watching 4328 and going without 777 eating 777, having taken 4355 nothing 3367.

 27:34 “Therefore 1352 I encourage 3870 you to take 3335 some food 5160, for this 3778 is for your preservation 4991, for not a hair 2359 from the head 2776 of any 3762 of you will perish 622.”

 27:35 Having said 3004 this 3778, he took 2983 bread 740 and gave 2168 thanks 2168 to God 2316 in the presence 1799 of all 3956, and he broke 2806 it and began 757 to eat 2068.

 27:36 All 3956 of them were encouraged 2115a and they themselves 846 also took 4355 food 5160.

 27:37 All 3956 of us in the ship 4143 were two 1250 hundred 1250 and seventy-six 1440 1803 persons 5590.

 27:38 When they had eaten 2880 enough 2880 5160, they [began] to lighten 2893 the ship 4143 by throwing 1544b out the wheat 4621 into the sea 2281.

 27:39 ¶ When 3753 day 2250 came 1096, they could not recognize 1921 the land 1093; but they did observe 2657 a bay 2859 with a beach 123, and they resolved 1011 to drive 1856 the ship 4143 onto 1856 it if 1487 they could 1410.

 27:40 And casting 4014 off 4014 the anchors 45, they left 1439 them in the sea 2281 while at the same 260 time 260 they were loosening 447 the ropes 2202 of the rudders 4079; and hoisting 1869 the foresail 736 to the wind 4154, they were heading 2722 for the beach 123.

 27:41 But striking 4045 a reef 5117 where 1337 two 1337 seas 1337 met 1337, they ran 1946a the vessel 3491 aground 1946a; and the prow 4408 stuck 2043 fast 2043 and remained 3306 immovable 761, but the stern 4403 [began] to be broken 3089 up by the force 970 [of the waves].

 27:42 The soldiers’ 4757 plan 1012 was to kill 615 the prisoners 1202, so that none 3361 5100 [of them] would swim 1579 away 1579 and escape 1309;

 27:43 but the centurion 1543, wanting 1014 to bring 1295 Paul 3972 safely 1295 through 1295, kept 2967 them from their intention 1013, and commanded 2753 that those 3588 who could 1410 swim 2860 should jump 641 overboard 641 first 4413 and get 1826 to land 1093,
