Acts 2

1 The Apostles, filled with the Holy Ghost, and speaking divers languages, are admired by some, and derided by others. 14 Whom Peter disproving, and shewing that the aspostles spake by the power of the Holy Ghost, that Jesus was risen from the dead, ascended into heaven, had poured down the same Holy Ghost, and was the Messias, a man known to them to be approved of God by his miracles, wonders, and signs, and not crucified without his determinate counsel and foreknowledge: 37 he baptizeth a great number that were converted. 41 Who afterwards devoutly and charitably converse together: the Apostles working many miracles, and God daily increasing his Church.

 2:1 When 1722 the day 2250 of Pentecost 4005 had come 4845, they were all 3956 together 3674 in one 846 place.

 2:2 And suddenly 869 there came 1096 from heaven 3772 a noise 2279 like 5618 a violent 972 rushing 5342 wind 4157, and it filled 4137 the whole 3650 house 3624 where 3757 they were sitting 2521.

 2:3 And there appeared 3708 to them tongues 1100 as of fire 4442 distributing 1266 themselves, and they rested 2523 on each 1538 one 1520 of them.

 2:4 And they were all 3956 filled 4092a with the Holy 40 Spirit 4151 and began 757 to speak 2980 with other 2087 tongues 1100, as the Spirit 4151 was giving 1325 them utterance 669.

 2:5 ¶ Now 1161 there were Jews 2453 living 2730 in Jerusalem 2419, devout 2126 men 435 from every 3956 nation 1484 under 5259 heaven 3772.

 2:6 And when this 3778 sound 5456 occurred 1096, the crowd 4128 came 4905 together 4905, and were bewildered 4797 because 3754 each 1538 one 1520 of them was hearing 191 them speak 2980 in his own 2398 language 1258.

 2:7 They were amazed 1839 and astonished 2296, saying 3004, “Why 2400, are not all 3956 these 3778 who are speaking 2980 Galileans 1057?

 2:8 “And how 4459 is it that we each 1538 hear 191 [them] in our own 2398 language 1258 to which 3739 we were born 1080?

 2:9 “Parthians 3934 and Medes 3370 and Elamites 1639, and residents 2730 of Mesopotamia 3318, Judea 2453 and Cappadocia 2587, Pontus 4195 and Asia 773,

 2:10 Phrygia 5435 and Pamphylia 3828, Egypt 125 and the districts 3313 of Libya 3033 around 2596 Cyrene 2957, and visitors 1927 from Rome 4514, both 5037 Jews 2453 and proselytes 4339,

 2:11 Cretans 2912 and Arabs 690b—we hear 191 them in our [own] tongues 1100 speaking 2980 of the mighty 3167 deeds 3167 of God 2316.”

 2:12 And they all 3956 continued in amazement 1839 and great 1280 perplexity 1280, saying 3004 to one 243 another 243, “What 5101 does this 3778 mean 2309 1510?”

 2:13 But others 2087 were mocking 1315b and saying 3004, “They are full 3325 of sweet 1098 wine 1098.”

 2:14 ¶ But Peter 4074, taking 2476 his stand 2476 with the eleven 1733, raised 1869 his voice 5456 and declared 669 to them: “Men 435 of Judea 2453 and all 3956 you who live 2730 in Jerusalem 2419, let this 3778 be known 1110 to you and give 1801 heed 1801 to my words 4487.

 2:15 “For these 3778 men 3778 are not drunk 3184, as you suppose 5274, for it is [only] the third 5154 hour 5610 of the day 2250;

 2:16 but this 3778 is what was spoken 3004 of through 1223 the prophet 4396 Joel 2493b:

 2:17 ‘AND IT SHALL BE IN THE LAST 2078 DAYS 2250,’ God 2316 says 3004, ‘THAT I WILL POUR 1632a FORTH 1632a OF MY SPIRIT 4151 ON ALL 3956 MANKIND 4561; AND YOUR SONS 5207 AND YOUR DAUGHTERS 2364 SHALL PROPHESY 4395, AND YOUR YOUNG 3495 MEN 3495 SHALL SEE 3708 VISIONS 3706, AND YOUR OLD 4245 MEN 4245 SHALL DREAM 1797 DREAMS 1798;

 2:18 EVEN 2532 ON MY BONDSLAVES 1401, BOTH MEN 1401 AND WOMEN 1401, I WILL IN THOSE 1565 DAYS 2250 POUR 1632a FORTH 1632a OF MY SPIRIT 4151 And they shall prophesy 4395.

 2:19 ‘AND I WILL GRANT 1325 WONDERS 5059 IN THE SKY 3772 ABOVE 507 AND SIGNS 4592 ON THE EARTH 1093 BELOW 2736, BLOOD 129, AND FIRE 4442, AND VAPOR 822 OF SMOKE 2586.

 2:20 ‘THE SUN 2246 WILL BE TURNED 3344 INTO DARKNESS 4655 AND THE MOON 4582 INTO BLOOD 129, BEFORE 4250 THE GREAT 3173 AND GLORIOUS 2016 DAY 2250 OF THE LORD 2962 SHALL COME 2064.

 2:21 ‘AND IT SHALL BE THAT EVERYONE 3956 WHO 3739 CALLS 1941 ON THE NAME 3686 OF THE LORD 2962 WILL BE SAVED 4982.’

 2:22 ¶ “Men 435 of Israel 2475a, listen 191 to these 3778 words 3056: Jesus 2424 the Nazarene 3480, a man 435 attested 584 to you by God 2316 with miracles 1411 and wonders 5059 and signs 4592 which 3739 God 2316 performed 4160 through 1223 Him in your midst 3319, just 2531a as you yourselves 846 know 3609a—

 2:23 this 3778 [Man], delivered 1560 over by the predetermined 3724 plan 1012 and foreknowledge 4268 of God 2316, you nailed 4362 to a cross 4362 by the hands 5495 of godless 459 men 459 and put 337 [Him] to death 337.

 2:24 “But God 2316 raised 450 Him up again 450, putting 3089 an end 3089 to the agony 5604 of death 2288, since 2530 it was impossible 3756 1415 for Him to be held 2902 in its power 5259.

 2:25 “For David 1160b says 3004 of Him, ‘I SAW 4308 THE LORD 2962 ALWAYS 1223 3956 IN MY PRESENCE 1799; FOR HE IS AT MY RIGHT 1188 HAND 1188, SO 2443 THAT I WILL NOT BE SHAKEN 4531.

 2:26 ‘THEREFORE 1223 3778 MY HEART 2588 WAS GLAD 2165 AND MY TONGUE 1100 EXULTED 21; MOREOVER 2089 1161 MY FLESH 4561 ALSO 2532 WILL LIVE 2681 IN HOPE 1680;

 2:27 BECAUSE 3754 YOU WILL NOT ABANDON 1459 MY SOUL 5590 TO HADES 86, NOR 3761 ALLOW 1325 YOUR HOLY 3741 ONE 3741 TO UNDERGO 3708 DECAY 1312.

 2:28 ‘YOU HAVE MADE 1107 KNOWN 1107 TO ME THE WAYS 3598 OF LIFE 2222; YOU WILL MAKE 4137 ME FULL 4137 OF GLADNESS 2167 WITH YOUR PRESENCE 4383.’

 2:29 ¶ “Brethren 435 80, I may 1832 confidently 3954 say 3004 to you regarding 4012 the patriarch 3966 David 1160b that he both 2532 died 5053 and was buried 2290, and his tomb 3418 is with us to this 3778 day 2250.

 2:30 “And so 3767, because he was a prophet 4396 and knew 3609a that GOD 2316 HAD SWORN 3660 TO HIM WITH AN OATH 3727 TO SEAT 2523 [one] OF HIS DESCENDANTS 2590 3751 ON HIS THRONE 2362,

 2:31 he looked 4275a ahead 4275a and spoke 2980 of the resurrection 386 of the Christ 5547, that HE WAS NEITHER 3777 ABANDONED 1459 TO HADES 86, NOR 3777 DID His flesh 4561 SUFFER 3708 DECAY 1312.

 2:32 “This 3778 Jesus 2424 God 2316 raised 450 up again 450, to which 3739 we are all 3956 witnesses 3144.

 2:33 “Therefore 3767 having been exalted 5312 to the right 1188 hand 1188 of God 2316, and having received 2983 from the Father 3962 the promise 1860 of the Holy 40 Spirit 4151, He has poured 1632a forth 1632a this 3778 which 3739 you both 2532 see 991 and hear 191.

 2:34 “For it was not David 1160b who ascended 305 into heaven 3772, but he himself 846 says 3004: ‘THE LORD 2962 SAID 3004 TO MY LORD 2962, “SIT 2521 AT MY RIGHT 1188 HAND 1188,

 2:35 UNTIL 2193 I MAKE 5087 YOUR ENEMIES 2190 A FOOTSTOOL 5286 FOR YOUR FEET 4228.”’

 2:36 “Therefore 3767 let all 3956 the house 3624 of Israel 2274 know 1097 for certain 806 that God 2316 has made 4160 Him both 2532 Lord 2962 and Christ 5547—this 3778 Jesus 2424 whom 3739 you crucified 4717.”

 2:37 ¶ Now 1161 when they heard 191 [this], they were pierced 2660 to the heart 2588, and said 3004 to Peter 4074 and the rest 3062 of the apostles 652, “Brethren 435 80, what 5101 shall we do 4160?”

 2:38 Peter 4074 [said] to them, “Repent 3340, and each 1538 of you be baptized 907 in the name 3686 of Jesus 2424 Christ 5547 for the forgiveness 859 of your sins 266; and you will receive 2983 the gift 1431 of the Holy 40 Spirit 4151.

 2:39 “For the promise 1860 is for you and your children 5043 and for all 3956 who 3588 are far 3112 off 3112, as many 3745 as the Lord 2962 our God 2316 will call 4341 to Himself.”

 2:40 And with many 4183 other 2087 words 3056 he solemnly 1263 testified 1263 and kept on exhorting 3870 them, saying 3004, “Be saved 4982 from this 3778 perverse 4646 generation 1074!”

 2:41 So 3767 then 3767, those 3588 who had received 588 his word 3056 were baptized 907; and that day 2250 there were added 4369 about 5616 three 5153 thousand 5153 souls 5590.

 2:42 They were continually 4342 devoting 4342 themselves 4342 to the apostles’ 652 teaching 1322 and to fellowship 2842, to the breaking 2800 of bread 740 and to prayer 4335.

 2:43 ¶ Everyone 3956 kept feeling 1096 a sense 5401 of awe 5401; and many 4183 wonders 5059 and signs 4592 were taking 1096 place 1096 through 1223 the apostles 652.

 2:44 And all 3956 those 3588 who had believed 4100 were together 1909 3588 846 and had 2192 all 537a things 537a in common 2839;

 2:45 and they [began] selling 4097 their property 2933 and possessions 5223 and were sharing 1266 them with all 3956, as anyone 5100 might have 2192 need 5532.

 2:46 Day 2250 by day 2250 continuing 4342 with one 3661 mind 3661 in the temple 2413, and breaking 2806 bread 740 from house 3624 to house 3624, they were taking 3335 their meals 5160 together 3335 with gladness 20 and sincerity 858 of heart 2588,

 2:47 praising 134 God 2316 and having 2192 favor 5485 with all 3650 the people 2992. And the Lord 2962 was adding 4369 to their number 846 day 2250 by day 2250 those 3588 who were being saved 4982.
