Acts 1

1 Christ, preparing his Apostles to the beholding of his ascension, gathereth them together into the mount Olivet, commandeth them to expect in Jerusalem the sending down of the Holy Ghost, promiseth after few days to send it, by virtue whereof they should be witnesses unto him, even to the utmost parts of the earth. 9 After his ascension they are warned by two angels to depart, and to set their minds upon his second coming. 12 They accordingly return, and, giving themselves to prayer, choose Matthias apostle in the place of Judas.

 1:1 The first 4413 account 3056 I composed 4160, Theophilus 2321, about 4012 all 3956 that Jesus 2424 began 757 to do 4160 and teach 1321,

 1:2 until 891 the day 2250 when He was taken 353 up [to heaven], after He had by the Holy 40 Spirit 4151 given 1781 orders 1781 to the apostles 652 whom 3739 He had chosen 1586.

 1:3 To these 3739 He also 2532 presented 3936 Himself 1438 alive 2198 after 3326 His suffering 3958, by many 4183 convincing 5039 proofs 5039, appearing 3700 to them over 1223 [a period of] forty 5065b days 2250 and speaking 3004 of the things concerning 4012 the kingdom 932 of God 2316.

 1:4 Gathering 4871a them together 4871a, He commanded 3853 them not to leave 5563 Jerusalem 2414, but to wait 4037 for what the Father 3962 had promised 1860, “Which 3739,” [He said], “you heard 191 of from Me;

 1:5 for John 2491 baptized 907 with water 5204, but you will be baptized 907 with the Holy 40 Spirit 4151 not many 4183 days 2250 from now 3326 3778.”

 1:6 ¶ So 3767 when they had come 4905 together 4905, they were asking 2065 Him, saying 3004, “Lord 2962, is it at this 3778 time 5550 You are restoring 600 the kingdom 932 to Israel 2474?”

 1:7 He said 3004 to them, “It is not for you to know 1097 times 5550 or 2228 epochs 2540 which 3739 the Father 3962 has fixed 5087 by His own 2398 authority 1849;

 1:8 but you will receive 2983 power 1411 when the Holy 40 Spirit 4151 has come 1904 upon you; and you shall be My witnesses 3144 both 5037 in Jerusalem 2419, and in all 3956 Judea 2453 and Samaria 4540, and even 2193 to the remotest 2078 part 2078 of the earth 1093.”

 1:9 And after He had said 3004 these 3778 things 3778, He was lifted 1869 up while they were looking 991 on, and a cloud 3507 received 5274 Him out of their sight 3788.

 1:10 And as they were gazing 816 intently 816 into the sky 3772 while He was going 4198, behold 2400, two 1417 men 435 in white 3022 clothing 2067 stood 3936 beside 3936 them.

 1:11 They also 2532 said 3004, “Men 435 of Galilee 1057, why 5101 do you stand 2476 looking 991 into the sky 3772? This 3778 Jesus 2424, who has been taken 353 up from you into heaven 3772, will come 2064 in just 3779 the same 5158 way 5158 as you have watched 2300 Him go 4198 into heaven 3772.”

 1:12 ¶ Then 5119 they returned 5290 to Jerusalem 2419 from the mount 3735 called 2564 Olivet 1638, which 3739 is near 1451 Jerusalem 2419, a Sabbath 4521 day’s journey 3598 away.

 1:13 When 3753 they had entered 1525 [the city], they went 305 up to the upper 5253 room 5253 where 3757 they were staying 2650; that is, Peter 4074 and John 2491 and James 2385 and Andrew 406, Philip 5376 and Thomas 2381, Bartholomew 918 and Matthew 3102b, James 2385 [the son] of Alphaeus 256b, and Simon 4613 the Zealot 2208, and Judas 2455 [the] [son] of James 2385.

 1:14 These 3778 all 3956 with one 3661 mind 3661 were continually 4342 devoting 4342 themselves 4342 to prayer 4335, along 4862 with [the] women 1135, and Mary 3137 the mother 3384 of Jesus 2424, and with His brothers 80.

 1:15 ¶ At this 3778 time 2250 Peter 4074 stood 450 up in the midst 3319 of the brethren 80 (a gathering 3793 of about 5616 one 1540 hundred 1540 and twenty 1501 persons 3686 was there together 1909 3588 846), and said 3004,

 1:16 “Brethren 435 80, the Scripture 1124 had 1163 to be fulfilled 4137, which 3739 the Holy 40 Spirit 4151 foretold 4275b by the mouth 4750 of David 1160b concerning 4012 Judas 2455, who became 1096 a guide 3595 to those 3588 who arrested 4815 Jesus 2424.

 1:17 “For he was counted 2674 among 1722 us and received 2975 his share 2819 in this 3778 ministry 1248.”

 1:18 (Now 3767 this 3778 man 3778 acquired 2932 a field 5564 with the price 3408 of his wickedness 93, and falling 1096 headlong 4248, he burst 2997 open 2997 in the middle 3319 and all 3956 his intestines 4698 gushed 1632b out.

 1:19 And it became 1096 known 1110 to all 3956 who were living 2730 in Jerusalem 2419; so 5620 that in their own 2398 language 1258 that field 5564 was called 2564 Hakeldama 184, that is, Field 5564 of Blood 129.)

 1:20 “For it is written 1125 in the book 976 of Psalms 5568, ‘LET HIS HOMESTEAD 1886 BE MADE 1096 DESOLATE 2048, AND LET NO 3361 ONE 3361 DWELL 2730 IN IT’; and, ‘LET ANOTHER 2087 MAN 2087 TAKE 2983 HIS OFFICE 1984.’

 1:21 “Therefore 3767 it is necessary 1163 that of the men 435 who have accompanied 4905 us all 3956 the time 5550 that the Lord 2962 Jesus 2424 went 1831 in and out among 1909 us—

 1:22 beginning 757 with the baptism 908 of John 2491 until 2193 the day 2250 that He was taken 353 up from us—one 1520 of these 3778 [must] become 1096 a witness 3144 with us of His resurrection 386.”

 1:23 So 2532 they put 2476 forward 2476 two 1417 men 1417, Joseph 2501 called 2564 Barsabbas 923 (who 3739 was also called 1941 Justus 2459), and Matthias 3103b.

 1:24 And they prayed 4336 and said 3004, “You, Lord 2962, who 2589 know 2589 the hearts 2589 of all 3956 men 3956, show 322 which 3739 one 1520 of these 3778 two 1417 You have chosen 1586

 1:25 to occupy 2983 this 3778 ministry 1248 and apostleship 651 from which 3739 Judas 2455 turned 3845 aside 3845 to go 4198 to his own 2398 place 5117.”

 1:26 And they drew 1325 lots 2819 for them, and the lot 2819 fell 4098 to Matthias 3103b; and he was added 4785 to the eleven 1733 apostles 652.
