Acts 15

1 Great dissension ariseth touching circumcision. 6 The Apostles consult about it, 22 and send their determination by letters to the churches. 36 Paul and Barnabas, thinking to visit the brethren together, fall at strife, and depart asunder.

 15:1 Some 5100 men 5100 came 2718 down 2718 from Judea 2453 and [began] teaching 1321 the brethren 80, “Unless 1437 3361 you are circumcised 4059 according to the custom 1485 of Moses 3475, you cannot 1410 3756 be saved 4982.”

 15:2 And when Paul 3972 and Barnabas 921 had 1096 great 3756 3641 dissension 4714b and debate 2214 with them, [the brethren] determined 5021 that Paul 3972 and Barnabas 921 and some 5100 others 243 of them should go 305 up to Jerusalem 2419 to the apostles 652 and elders 4245 concerning 4012 this 3778 issue 2213.

 15:3 Therefore 3767, being sent 4311 on their way 4311 by the church 1577, they were passing 1330 through 1330 both 5037 Phoenicia 5403 and Samaria 4540, describing 1555 in detail 1555 the conversion 1995 of the Gentiles 1484, and were bringing 4160 great 3173 joy 5479 to all 3956 the brethren 80.

 15:4 When they arrived 3854 at Jerusalem 2414, they were received 3858 by the church 1577 and the apostles 652 and the elders 4245, and they reported 312 all 3745 that God 2316 had done 4160 with them.

 15:5 But some 5100 of the sect 139 of the Pharisees 5330 who had believed 4100 stood 1817 up, saying 3004, “It is necessary 1163 to circumcise 4059 them and to direct 3853 them to observe 5083 the Law 3551 of Moses 3475.”

 15:6 ¶ The apostles 652 and the elders 4245 came 4863 together 4863 to look 3708 into this 3778 matter 3056.

 15:7 After there had been 1096 much 4183 debate 2214, Peter 4074 stood 450 up and said 3004 to them, “Brethren 435 80, you know 1987 that in the early 744 days 2250 God 2316 made 1586 a choice 1586 among 1722 you, that by my mouth 4750 the Gentiles 1484 would hear 191 the word 3056 of the gospel 2098 and believe 4100.

 15:8 “And God 2316, who 2589 knows 2589 the heart 2589, testified 3140 to them giving 1325 them the Holy 40 Spirit 4151, just 2531a as He also 2532 did to us;

 15:9 and He made 1252 no 3762 distinction 1252 between 3342 us and them, cleansing 2511 their hearts 2588 by faith 4102.

 15:10 “Now 3568 therefore 3767 why 5101 do you put 3985 God 2316 to the test 3985 by placing 2007 upon the neck 5137 of the disciples 3101 a yoke 2218 which 3739 neither 3777 our fathers 3962 nor 3777 we have been 2480 able 2480 to bear 941?

 15:11 “But we believe 4100 that we are saved 4982 through 1223 the grace 5485 of the Lord 2962 Jesus 2424, in the same 3739 way 5158 as they also 2548 are.”

 15:12 ¶ All 3956 the people 4128 kept 4601 silent 4601, and they were listening 191 to Barnabas 921 and Paul 3972 as they were relating 1834 what 3745 signs 4592 and wonders 5059 God 2316 had done 4160 through 1223 them among 1722 the Gentiles 1484.

 15:13 After 3326 they had stopped 4601 speaking 4601, James 2385 answered 611, saying 3004, “Brethren 435 80, listen 191 to me.

 15:14 “Simeon 4826 has related 1834 how 2531a God 2316 first 4413 concerned 1980a Himself about 1980a taking 2983 from among 1537 the Gentiles 1484 a people 2992 for His name 3686.

 15:15 “With this 3778 the words 3056 of the Prophets 4396 agree 4856, just 2531a as it is written 1125,

 15:16 ‘AFTER 3326 THESE 3778 THINGS 3778 I will return 390, AND I WILL REBUILD 456 THE TABERNACLE 4633 OF DAVID 1160b WHICH HAS FALLEN 4098, AND I WILL REBUILD 456 ITS RUINS 2690, AND I WILL RESTORE 461 IT,

 15:17 SO 3704 THAT THE REST 2645 OF MANKIND 444 MAY SEEK 1567a THE LORD 2962, AND ALL 3956 THE GENTILES 1484 WHO 3739 ARE CALLED 1941 BY MY NAME 3686,’

 15:18 SAYS 3004 THE LORD 2962, WHO MAKES 4160 THESE 3778 THINGS 3778 KNOWN 1110 FROM LONG 165 AGO 165.

 15:19 “Therefore 1352 it is my judgment 2919 that we do not trouble 3926 those 3588 who are turning 1994 to God 2316 from among 575 the Gentiles 1484,

 15:20 but that we write 1989 to them that they abstain 568 from things 234 contaminated 234 by idols 1497 and from fornication 4202 and from what is strangled 4156 and from blood 129.

 15:21 “For Moses 3475 from ancient 744 generations 1074 has 2192 in every 2596 city 4172 those 3588 who preach 2784 him, since he is read 314 in the synagogues 4864 every 3956 Sabbath 4521.”

 15:22 ¶ Then 5119 it seemed 1380 good 1380 to the apostles 652 and the elders 4245, with the whole 3650 church 1577, to choose 1586 men 435 from among 1537 them to send 3992 to Antioch 490 with Paul 3972 and Barnabas 921—Judas 2455 called 2564 Barsabbas 923, and Silas 4609, leading 2233 men 435 among 1722 the brethren 80,

 15:23 and they sent 1125 this letter 1125 by them, “The apostles 652 and the brethren 80 who are elders 4245, to the brethren 80 in Antioch 490 and Syria 4947 and Cilicia 2791 who 3588 are from the Gentiles 1484, greetings 5463.

 15:24 “Since 1894 we have heard 191 that some 5100 of our number 1473 to whom 3739 we gave 1291 no 3756 instruction 1291 have disturbed 5015 you with [their] words 3056, unsettling 384 your souls 5590,

 15:25 it seemed 1380 good 1380 to us, having become 1096 of one 3661 mind 3661, to select 1586 men 435 to send 3992 to you with our beloved 27 Barnabas 921 and Paul 3972,

 15:26 men 444 who have risked 3860 their lives 5590 for the name 3686 of our Lord 2962 Jesus 2424 Christ 5547.

 15:27 “Therefore 3767 we have sent 649 Judas 2455 and Silas 4609, who themselves 846 will also 2532 report 518 the same 846 things 846 by word 3056 [of mouth].

 15:28 “For it seemed 1380 good 1380 to the Holy 40 Spirit 4151 and to us to lay 2007 upon you no 3367 greater 4183 burden 922 than 4133 these 3778 essentials 1876:

 15:29 that you abstain 568 from things 1494 sacrificed 1494 to idols 1494 and from blood 129 and from things 4156 strangled 4156 and from fornication 4202; if you keep 1301 yourselves 1438 free 1301 from such 3779 things 3739, you will do 4238 well 2095. Farewell 4517.”

 15:30 ¶ So 3767 when they were sent 630 away 630, they went 2718 down 2718 to Antioch 490; and having gathered 4863 the congregation 4128 together 4863, they delivered 1929 the letter 1992.

 15:31 When they had read 314 it, they rejoiced 5463 because 1909 of its encouragement 3874.

 15:32 Judas 2455 and Silas 4609, also 2532 being 1510 prophets 4396 themselves 846, encouraged 3870 and strengthened 1991 the brethren 80 with a lengthy 4183 message 3056.

 15:33 After they had spent 4160 time 5550 [there], they were sent 630 away 630 from the brethren 80 in peace 1515 to those 3588 who had sent 649 them out.

 15:34 [[But it seemed 1380 good 1380 to Silas 4609 to remain 1961 there 847.]]

 15:35 But Paul 3972 and Barnabas 921 stayed 1304 in Antioch 490, teaching 1321 and preaching 2097 with many 4183 others 2087 also 2532, the word 3056 of the Lord 2962.

 15:36 ¶ After 3326 some 5100 days 2250 Paul 3972 said 3004 to Barnabas 921, “Let us return 1994 and visit 1980a the brethren 80 in every 3956 city 4172 in which 3739 we proclaimed 2605 the word 3056 of the Lord 2962, [and see] how 4459 they are.”

 15:37 Barnabas 921 wanted 1014 to take 4838 John 2491, called 2564 Mark 3138, along 4838 with them also 2532.

 15:38 But Paul 3972 kept insisting 515 that they should not take 4838 him along 4838 who had deserted 868 them in Pamphylia 3828 and had not gone 4905 with them to the work 2041.

 15:39 And there occurred 1096 such a sharp 3948 disagreement 3948 that they separated 673 from one 240 another 240, and Barnabas 921 took 3880 Mark 3138 with him and sailed 1602 away 1602 to Cyprus 2954.

 15:40 But Paul 3972 chose 1951 Silas 4609 and left 1831, being committed 3860 by the brethren 80 to the grace 5485 of the Lord 2962.

 15:41 And he was traveling 1330 through 1330 Syria 4947 and Cilicia 2791, strengthening 1991 the churches 1577.
