3 John 1

1 He commendeth Gaius for his piety 5 and hospitality 7 to true preachers: 9 complaining of the unkind dealing of ambitious Diotrephes on the contrary side, 11 whose evil example is not to be followed: 12 and giveth special testimony to the good report of Demetrius.

 1:1 The elder 4245 to the beloved 27 Gaius 1050, whom 3739 I love 25 in truth 225.

 1:2 ¶ Beloved 27, I pray 2172 that in all 3956 respects 3956 you may prosper 2137 and be in good 5198 health 5198, just 2531a as your soul 5590 prospers 2137.

 1:3 For I was very 3029 glad 5463 when brethren 80 came 2064 and testified 3140 to your truth 225, [that is], how 2531a you are walking 4043 in truth 225.

 1:4 I have 2192 no 3756 greater 3173 joy 5479 than this 3778, to hear 191 of my children 5043 walking 4043 in the truth 225.

 1:5 ¶ Beloved 27, you are acting 4160 faithfully 4103 in whatever 3739 1437 you accomplish 2038b for the brethren 80, and especially 3778 [when they are] strangers 3581;

 1:6 and they have testified 3140 to your love 26 before 1799 the church 1577. You will do 4160 well 2573 to send 4311 them on their way 4311 in a manner 516 worthy 516 of God 2316.

 1:7 For they went 1831 out for the sake 5228 of the Name 3686, accepting 2983 nothing 3367 from the Gentiles 1482.

 1:8 Therefore 3767 we ought 3784 to support 5274 such 5108 men 5108, so 2443 that we may be fellow 4904 workers 4904 with the truth 225.

 1:9 ¶ I wrote 1125 something 5100 to the church 1577; but Diotrephes 1361, who loves 5383 to be first 5383 among them, does not accept 1926 what we say 1473.

 1:10 For this 3778 reason 1223, if 1437 I come 2064, I will call 5279 attention 5279 to his deeds 2041 which 3739 he does 4160, unjustly 5396 accusing 5396 us with wicked 4190 words 3056; and not satisfied 714 with this 3778, he himself 846 does not receive 1926 the brethren 80, either 3777, and he forbids 2967 those 3588 who desire 1014 [to do so] and puts 1544b [them] out of the church 1577.

 1:11 ¶ Beloved 27, do not imitate 3401 what 2556 is evil 2556, but what 18 is good 18. The one who does 15 good 15 is of God 2316; the one who does 2554 evil 2554 has not seen 3708 God 2316.

 1:12 Demetrius 1216 has received 3140 a [good] testimony 3140 from everyone 3956, and from the truth 225 itself 846; and we add 3140 our testimony 3140, and you know 3609a that our testimony 3140 is true 227.

 1:13 ¶ I had 2192 many 4183 things 4183 to write 1125 to you, but I am 2309 not willing 2309 to write 1125 [them] to you with pen 2563 and ink 3189;
