יִשׂרָאֵל°
journeyed°°
from the wilderness°°
of
Sîn
סִין,°
after their journeys,°
according to°
the commandment°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
and pitched°°
in
Ræfîđîm
רְפִידִים:°
and [there was] no°
water°
for the people°
to drink.°° |

17:1 ¶
And all the congregation of the children of Yisrael journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, after their journeys, according to the commandment of Yahweh, and pitched in Refidim: and [there was] no water for the people to drink. |

17:2
Wherefore the people°
did chide°°
with°
Möšè
מֹשֶׁה,°
and said,°°
Give°°
us water°
that we may drink.°°
And
Möšè
מֹשֶׁה°
said°°
unto them, Why°
chide°°
ye with°
me? wherefore°
do ye tempt°°°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה?° |

17:2
Wherefore the people did chide with Mosheh, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Mosheh said unto them, Why chide ye with me? wherefore do ye tempt Yahweh? |

17:3
And the people°
thirsted°°
there°
for water;°
and the people°
murmured°°
against°
Möšè
מֹשֶׁה,°
and said,°°
Wherefore°
[is] this°
[that] thou hast brought°°
us up°
out of
Mixrayim
מִצרַיִם,°°
to kill°°
us and our children°
and our cattle°
with thirst?° |

17:3
And the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Mosheh, and said, Wherefore [is] this [that] thou hast brought us up out of Mitzrayim, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst? |

17:4
And

unto°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
saying,°°
What°
shall I do°°
unto this°
people?°
they be almost°
ready°
to stone°°
me. |

And Mosheh cried unto Yahweh, saying, What shall I do unto this people? they be almost ready to stone me. |
|
17:5
And
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
said°°
unto°
Möšè
מֹשֶׁה,°
Go on°°
before°
the people,°
and take°°
with°
thee of the elders°°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל;°
and thy rod,°
wherewith°
thou smotest°°°
the river,°
take°°
in thine hand,°
and go.°° |

And Yahweh said unto Mosheh, Go on before the people, and take with thee of the elders of Yisrael; and thy rod, wherewith thou smotest the river, take in thine hand, and go. |
|
17:6
Behold,°
I will stand°°
before°
thee there°
upon°
the rock°
in
Çörëv
חֹרֵב;°
and thou shalt smite°°
the rock,°
and there shall come°°
water°
out of°
it, that the people°
may drink.°°
And
Möšè
מֹשֶׁה°
did°°
so°
in the sight°
of the elders°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל.° |

17:6
Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Chorev; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Mosheh did so in the sight of the elders of Yisrael. |

17:7
And he called°°
the name°
of the place°
Massà
מַסָּה,°
and
Mærîvà
מְרִיבָה,°
because of°
the chiding°
of the children°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
and because°
they tempted°°°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
saying,°°
Is°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
among°
us, or°
not?° |

17:7
And he called the name of the place Massah, and Merivah, because of the chiding of the children of Yisrael, and because they tempted Yahweh, saying, Is Yahweh among us, or not? |
|
17:8 ¶
Then came°°
`Ámälëk
עֲמָלֵק,°
and fought°°
with°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
in
Ræfîđîm
רְפִידִים.° |
|
17:8 ¶
Then came Amaleq, and fought with Yisrael in Refidim. |
|
17:9
And
Möšè
מֹשֶׁה°
said°°
unto°
Yæhôšuå`
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ,°
Choose us out°°
men,°°
and go out,°°
fight°°
with
`Ámälëk
עֲמָלֵק:°
to morrow°
I°
will stand°°
on°
the top°
of the hill°
with the rod°
of
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים°
in mine hand.° |

17:9
And Mosheh said unto Yehoshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amaleq: to morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of Elohim in mine hand. |
|
17:10
So

יְהוֹשֻׁעַ°

as°
Möšè
מֹשֶׁה°
had said°°
to him, and fought°°
with
`Ámälëk
עֲמָלֵק:°
and
Möšè
מֹשֶׁה,°
´Ahárön
אַהֲרֹן,°
and
Çûr
חוּר°
went up°°
to the top°
of the hill.° |

17:10
So Yehoshua did as Mosheh had said to him, and fought with Amaleq: and Mosheh, Aharon, and Chur went up to the top of the hill. |
|
17:11
And it came to pass,°
when°
Möšè
מֹשֶׁה°
held up°°
his hand,°
that
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
prevailed:°°
and when°
he let down°°
his hand,°
`Ámälëk
עֲמָלֵק°
prevailed.°° |

17:11
And it came to pass, when Mosheh held up his hand, that Yisrael prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amaleq prevailed. |

17:12
But
Möšè's
מֹשֶׁה°
hands°
[were] heavy;°
and they took°°
a stone,°
and put°°
[it] under°
him, and he sat°°
thereon;°
and
´Ahárön
אַהֲרֹן°
and
Çûr
חוּר°
stayed up°°
his hands,°
the one°
on the one side,°°°
and the other°
on the other side;°°°
and his hands°
were°
steady°
until°
the going down°°
of the sun.° |

17:12
But Mosheh's hands [were] heavy; and they took a stone, and put [it] under him, and he sat thereon; and Aharon and Chur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. |
|
17:13
And
Yæhôšuå`
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ°
discomfited°°°
`Ámälëk
עֲמָלֵק°
and his people°
with the edge°
of the sword.° |

17:13
And Yehoshua discomfited Amaleq and his people with the edge of the sword. |
|
17:14
And
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
said°°
unto°
Möšè
מֹשֶׁה,°
Write°°
this°
[for] a memorial°
in a book,°
and rehearse°°
[it] in the ears°
of
Yæhôšuå`
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ:°
for°
I will utterly°°
put out°°°
the remembrance°
of
`Ámälëk
עֲמָלֵק°
from under°°
heaven.° |

17:14
And Yahweh said unto Mosheh, Write this [for] a memorial in a book, and rehearse [it] in the ears of Yehoshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amaleq from under heaven. |
|
17:15
And
Möšè

built°°
an altar,°
and called°°
the name°
of it
Yähwè
יָהוֶה
Nissî
נִסִּי:° |

17:15
And Mosheh built an altar, and called the name of it Yahweh Nissi: |
|
17:16
For he said,°°
Because°
Yäh
יָה°
hath sworn°°°
[that]
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
[will have] war°
with
`Ámälëk
עֲמָלֵק°
from generation°°
to generation.° |

17:16
For he said, Because Yah hath sworn [that] Yahweh [will have] war with Amaleq from generation to generation. |
