  17:1 ¶
And Jehoshaphat{gr.Josaphat} his son reigned in his stead, Jehoshaphat{gr.Josaphat} strengthened himself against Israel. |

And he put garrisons in all the strong cities of Judah{gr.Juda}, and appointed captains in all the cities of Judah{gr.Juda}, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken. |

the fenced°°
cities°
of Judah,°
and set°°
garrisons°
in the land°
of Judah,°
and in the cities°
of Ephraim,°
which°
Asa°
his father°
had taken.°° |

And the Lord was with Jehoshaphat{gr.Josaphat}, for he walked in the first ways of his father, and did not seek to idols; |

And Yahweh°
was°
with°
Jehoshaphat,°
because°
he walked°°
in the first°
ways°
of his father°
David,°
and sought°°
not°
unto Baalim;° |

but he sought to the Lord God of his father, and walked in the commandments of his father, and not according to the works of Israel. |

to the [Yahweh] Elohim°
of his father,°
and walked°°
in his commandments,°
and not°
after the doings°
of Israel.° |

17:5
And the Lord prospered the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah{gr.Juda} gave gifts to Jehoshaphat{gr.Josaphat}; and he had great wealth and glory. |
|

Therefore Yahweh°
stablished°°°
the kingdom°
in his hand;°
and all°
Judah°
brought°°
to Jehoshaphat°
presents;°
and he had°
riches°
and honour°
in abundance.° |

17:6
And his heart was exalted in the way of the Lord; and he removed the high places and the groves from the land of Judah{gr.Juda}. |

And his heart°
was lifted up°°
in the ways°
of Yahweh:°
moreover°
he took away°°°
the high places°
and groves°
out of Judah.°° |
|
17:7 ¶
And in the third year of his reign, he sent his chief men, and his mighty men, Obadiah{gr.Abdias} and Zechariah{gr.Zacharias}, and Nethaneel{gr.Nathanael}, and Micah{gr.Michaias}, to teach in the cities of Judah{gr.Juda}. |

Also in the third°

to his princes,°
[even] to Benhail,°
and to Obadiah,°
and to Zechariah,°
and to Nethaneel,°
and to Michaiah,°
to teach°°
in the cities°
of Judah.° |

And with them [were] the Levites, Shemaiah{gr.Samaias}, and Nethaniah{gr.Nathanias}, and Zabdias, and Asiel, and Semiramoth, and Jonathan, and Adonijah{gr.Adonias}, and Tobiah{gr.Tobias}, and Tobadonias, Levites, and with them Elishama{gr.Elisama} and Joram, the priests. |

them [he sent] Levites,°

and Shemiramoth,°
and Jehonathan,°

And they taught in Judah{gr.Juda}, and [there was] with them the book of the law of the Lord, and they passed through the cities of Judah{gr.Juda}, and taught the people. |

throughout all°
the cities°
of Judah,°
and taught°°

17:10 ¶
And a terror of the Lord was upon all the kingdoms of the land round about Judah{gr.Juda}, and they made no war against Jehoshaphat{gr.Josaphat}. |

And the fear°
of Yahweh°
fell°
upon°
all°
the kingdoms°
of the lands°
that°
[were] round about°
Judah,°
so that they made no war°°°
against°
Jehoshaphat.° |

And [some] of the Philistines brought to Jehoshaphat{gr.Josaphat} gifts, and silver, and presents; and the Arabians brought him seven thousand seven hundred rams. |

silver;°

the Arabians°

him flocks,°

And Jehoshaphat{gr.Josaphat} increased in greatness exceedingly, and built in Judah{gr.Judea} places of abode, and strong cities. |

exceedingly;°°
and he built°°
in Judah°
castles,°
and cities°
of store.° |

And he had many works in Judah{gr.Judea}: and the mighty men of war, [the men] of strength, [were] in Jerusalem. |

mighty men°
of valour,°
[were] in Jerusalem.° |

And this [is] their number according to the houses of their fathers; even the captains of thousands in Judah{gr.Juda} [were], Ednas the chief, and with him mighty men of strength three hundred thousand. |

And after him Amaziah{gr.Amasias} the [son] of Zari, who was zealous for the Lord; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of strength. |

of Zichri,°
who willingly offered°°
himself°
unto Yahweh;°
and with him°
two hundred°
thousand°
mighty men°
of valour.° |

And out of Benjamin [there was] a mighty man of strength, even Eliada, and with him two hundred thousand archers and targeteers. |

And after him Jozabad, and with him a hundred and eighty thousand mighty men of war. |

These were the king's servants besides those whom the king put in the strong cities in all Judah{gr.Judea}. |
