12:1 ¶
And it came to pass when the kingdom of Rehoboam{gr.Roboam} was established, and when he had grown strong, [that] he forsook the commandments of the Lord, and all Israel with him. |
|
12:1 ¶
And it came to pass,°
when Rehoboam°
had established°°
the kingdom,°
and had strengthened°°
himself, he forsook°°°
the law°
of Yahweh,°
and all°
Israel°
with°
him. |
12:2
And it came to pass in the fifth year of the reign of Rehoboam{gr.Roboam}, Shishak{gr.Susakim} king of Mizraim{gr.Egypt} came up against Jerusalem, because they had sinned against the Lord, |
|
12:2
And it came to pass,°
[that] in the fifth°
year°
of king°
Rehoboam°
Shishak°
king°
of Egypt°
came up°°
against°
Jerusalem,°
because°
they had transgressed°°
against Yahweh,° |
12:3
with twelve hundred chariots, and sixty thousand horses: and there was no number of the multitude that came with him from Mizraim{gr.Egypt}; Libyans, Trogodytes, and Ethiopians. |
|
12:3
With twelve hundred°°
chariots,°
and threescore°
thousand°
horsemen:°
and the people°
[were] without°
number°
that°
came°°
with°
him out of Egypt;°°
the Lubims,°
the Sukkiims,°
and the Ethiopians.° |
12:4
And they obtained possession of the strong cities, which were in Judah{gr.Juda}, and came to Jerusalem. |
|
12:4
And he took°°°
the fenced°
cities°
which°
[pertained] to Judah,°
and came°°
to°
Jerusalem.° |
12:5 ¶
And Shemaiah{gr.Samaias} the prophet came to Rehoboam{gr.Roboam}, and to the princes of Judah{gr.Juda} that were gathered to Jerusalem for fear of Shishak{gr.Susakim}, and said to them, Thus said the Lord, Ye have left me, and I will leave you in the hand of Shishak{gr.Susakim}. |
|
12:5 ¶
Then came°°
Shemaiah°
the prophet°
to°
Rehoboam,°
and [to] the princes°
of Judah,°
that°
were gathered together°°
to°
Jerusalem°
because°
of°°
Shishak,°
and said°°
unto them, Thus°
saith°°
Yahweh,°
Ye°
have forsaken°°
me, and therefore have I°
also°
left°°
you in the hand°
of Shishak.° |
12:6
And the elders of Israel and the king were ashamed, and said, The Lord [is] righteous. |
|
12:6
Whereupon the princes°
of Israel°
and the king°
humbled°°
themselves;°
and they said,°°
Yahweh°
[is] righteous.° |
12:7
And when the Lord saw that they repented, then came the word of the Lord to Shemaiah{gr.Samaias}, saying, They have repented; I will not destroy them, but I will set them in safety for a little while, and my wrath shall not be poured out on Jerusalem. |
|
12:7
And when Yahweh°
saw°°
that°
they humbled°°
themselves,°
the word°
of Yahweh°
came°
to°
Shemaiah,°
saying,°°
They have humbled°°
themselves;°
[therefore] I will not°
destroy°°
them, but I will grant°°
them some°
deliverance;°
and my wrath°
shall not°
be poured out°°
upon Jerusalem°
by the hand°
of Shishak.° |
12:8
Nevertheless they shall be servants, and know my service, and the service of the kings of the earth. |
|
12:8
Nevertheless°
they shall be°
his servants;°
that they may know°°
my service,°
and the service°
of the kingdoms°
of the countries.° |
12:9
So Shishak{gr.Susakim} king of Mizraim{gr.Egypt} went up against Jerusalem, and took the treasures that were in the house of the Lord, and the treasures that were in the king's house: he took all; and he took the golden shields which Solomon had made. |
|
12:9
So Shishak°
king°
of Egypt°
came up°°
against°
Jerusalem,°
and took away°°°
the treasures°
of the house°
of Yahweh,°
and the treasures°
of the king's°
house;°
he took°°°
all:°
he carried away°°°
also the shields°
of gold°
which°
Solomon°
had made.°° |
12:10
And king Rehoboam{gr.Roboam} made brazen shields instead of them. And Shishak{gr.Susakim} set over him captains of footmen, as keepers of the gate of the king. |
|
12:10
Instead of°
which king°
Rehoboam°
made°°
shields°
of brass,°
and committed°°
[them] to°
the hands°
of the chief°
of the guard,°°
that kept°°
the entrance°
of the king's°
house.° |
12:11
And it came to pass, when the king went into the house of the Lord, the guards and the footmen went in, and they that returned to meet the footmen. |
|
12:11
And when°°
the king°
entered°°
into°°
the house°
of Yahweh,°
the guard°°
came°°
and fetched°°
them, and brought them again°°
into°
the guard°°
chamber.° |
12:12
And when he repented, the anger of the Lord turned from him, and did not destroy him utterly; for there were good things in Judah{gr.Juda}. |
|
12:12
And when he humbled°°
himself,°
the wrath°
of Yahweh°
turned°°
from°
him, that he would not°
destroy°°
[him] altogether:°
and also°
in Judah°
things°
went°
well.° |
12:13 ¶
So king Rehoboam{gr.Roboam} strengthened [himself] in Jerusalem, and reigned: and Rehoboam{gr.Roboam} was forty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, in the city which the Lord chose out of all the tribes of the children of Israel to call his name there: and his mother's name was Noomma the Ammonitess{gr.Ammanitess}. |
|
12:13 ¶
So king°
Rehoboam°
strengthened°°
himself°
in Jerusalem,°
and reigned:°°
for°
Rehoboam°
[was] one°
and forty°
years°
old°
when he began to reign,°°
and he reigned°°
seventeen°°
years°
in Jerusalem,°
the city°
which°
Yahweh°
had chosen°°
out of all°°
the tribes°
of Israel,°
to put°°°
his name°
there.°
And his mother's°
name°
[was] Naamah°
an Ammonitess.°° |
12:14
And he did evil, for he directed not his heart to seek the Lord. |
|
12:14
And he did°°
evil,°
because°
he prepared°°
not°
his heart°
to seek°°°
Yahweh.° |
12:15
And the acts of Rehoboam{gr.Roboam}, the first and the last, behold, are they not written in the book of Shemaiah{gr.Samaia} the prophet, and Addo the seer, with his achievements. |
|
12:15
Now the acts°
of Rehoboam,°
first°
and last,°
[are] they°
not°
written°°
in the book°
of Shemaiah°
the prophet,°
and of Iddo°
the seer°
concerning genealogies?°°
And [there were] wars°
between Rehoboam°
and Jeroboam°
continually.°° |
12:16
And Rehoboam{gr.Roboam} made war with Jeroboam all [his] days. And Rehoboam{gr.Roboam} died with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Abia his son reigned in his stead. |
|
12:16
And Rehoboam°
slept°°
with°
his fathers,°
and was buried°°
in the city°
of David:°
and Abijah°
his son°
reigned°°
in his stead.° |
