Mark 8

1 Christ feedeth the people miraculously: 10 refuseth to give a sign to the Pharisees: 14 admonisheth his disciples to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod: 22 giveth a blind man his sight: 27 acknowledgeth that he is the Christ, who should suffer and rise again: 34 and exhorteth to patience in persecution for the profession of the Gospel.

 8:1 In those 1565 days 2250, when there was again 3825 a large 4183 crowd 3793 and they had 2192 nothing 3361 5100 to eat 2068, Jesus called 4341 His disciples 3101 and *said 3004 to them,

 8:2 “I feel 4697 compassion 4697 for the people 3793 because 3754 they have remained 4357 with Me now 2235 three 5140 days 2250 and have 2192 nothing 3756 5100 to eat 2068.

 8:3 “If 1437 I send 630 them away 630 hungry 3523 to their homes 3624, they will faint 1590 on the way 3598; and some 5100 of them have 1510 come 1510 from a great 3113 distance 3113.”

 8:4 And His disciples 3101 answered 611 Him, “Where 4159 will anyone 5100 be able 1410 [to find enough] bread 740 here 5602 in [this] desolate 2047 place 2047 to satisfy 5526 these 3778 people 3778?”

 8:5 And He was asking 2065 them, “How 4214 many 4214 loaves 740 do you have 2192?” And they said 3004, “Seven 2033.”

 8:6 And He *directed 3853 the people 3793 to sit 377 down 377 on the ground 1093; and taking 2983 the seven 2033 loaves 740, He gave 2168 thanks 2168 and broke 2806 them, and started giving 1325 them to His disciples 3101 to serve 3908 to them, and they served 3908 them to the people 3793.

 8:7 They also 2532 had 2192 a few 3641 small 2485 fish 2485; and after He had blessed 2127 them, He ordered 3004 these 3778 to be served 3908 as well 2532.

 8:8 And they ate 2068 and were satisfied 5526; and they picked 142 up seven 2033 large 4711 baskets 4711 full 4051 of what 4051 was left 4051 over 4051 of the broken 2801 pieces 2801.

 8:9 About 5613 four 5070 thousand 5070 were [there]; and He sent 630 them away 630.

 8:10 And immediately 2117 He entered 1684 the boat 4143 with His disciples 3101 and came 2064 to the district 3313 of Dalmanutha 1148.

 8:11 ¶ The Pharisees 5330 came 1831 out and began 757 to argue 4802 with Him, seeking 2212 from Him a sign 4592 from heaven 3772, to test 3985 Him.

 8:12 Sighing 389 deeply 389 in His spirit 4151, He *said 3004, “Why 5101 does this 3778 generation 1074 seek 2212 for a sign 4592? Truly 281 I say 3004 to you, no 1487 sign 4592 will be given 1325 to this 3778 generation 1074.”

 8:13 Leaving 863 them, He again 3825 embarked 1684 and went 565 away 565 to the other 4008 side 4008.

 8:14 ¶ And they had forgotten 1950 to take 2983 bread 740, and did not have 2192 more 1508 than 1508 one 1520 loaf 740 in the boat 4143 with them.

 8:15 And He was giving 1291 orders 1291 to them, saying 3004, “Watch 3708 out! Beware 991 of the leaven 2219 of the Pharisees 5330 and the leaven 2219 of Herod 2264.”

 8:16 They [began] to discuss 1260 with one 240 another 240 [the fact] that they had 2192 no 3756 bread 740.

 8:17 And Jesus 2424, aware 1097 of this, *said 3004 to them, “Why 5101 do you discuss 1260 [the fact] that you have 2192 no 3756 bread 740? Do you not yet 3768 see 3539 or 3761 understand 4920? Do you have 2192 a hardened 4456 heart 2588?

 8:18 “HAVING 2192 EYES 3788, DO YOU NOT SEE 991? AND HAVING 2192 EARS 3775, DO YOU NOT HEAR 191? And do you not remember 3421,

 8:19 when 3753 I broke 2806 the five 4000 loaves 740 for the five 4000 thousand 4000, how 4214 many 4214 baskets 2894 full 4134 of broken 2801 pieces 2801 you picked 142 up?” They *said 3004 to Him, “Twelve 1427.”

 8:20 “When 3753 [I broke] the seven 2033 for the four 5070 thousand 5070, how 4214 many 4214 large 4711 baskets 4711 full 4138 of broken 2801 pieces 2801 did you pick 142 up?” And they *said 3004 to Him, “Seven 2033.”

 8:21 And He was saying 3004 to them, “Do you not yet 3768 understand 4920?”

 8:22 ¶ And they *came 2064 to Bethsaida 966. And they *brought 5342 a blind 5185 man 5185 to Jesus and *implored 3870 Him to touch 681 him.

 8:23 Taking 1949 the blind 5185 man 5185 by the hand 5495, He brought 1627 him out of the village 2968; and after spitting 4429 on his eyes 3659 and laying 2007 His hands 5495 on him, He asked 1905 him, “Do you see 991 anything 5100?”

 8:24 And he looked 308 up and said 3004, “I see 991 men 444, for I see 3708 [them] like 5613 trees 1186, walking 4043 around 4043.”

 8:25 Then 1534 again 3825 He laid 2007 His hands 5495 on his eyes 3788; and he looked 1227 intently 1227 and was restored 600, and [began] to see 1227 everything 537a clearly 5081.

 8:26 And He sent 649 him to his home 3624, saying 3004, “Do not even 3366 enter 1525 the village 2968.”

 8:27 ¶ Jesus 2424 went 1831 out, along 2532 with His disciples 3101, to the villages 2968 of Caesarea 2542 Philippi 5376; and on the way 3598 He questioned 1905 His disciples 3101, saying 3004 to them, “Who 5101 do people 444 say 3004 that I am 1510?”

 8:28 They told 3004 Him, saying 3004, “John 2491 the Baptist 910; and others 243 [say] Elijah 2243; but others 243, one 1520 of the prophets 4396.”

 8:29 And He [continued] by questioning 1905 them, “But who 5101 do you say 3004 that I am 1510?” Peter 4074 *answered 611 and *said 3004 to Him, “You are the Christ 5547.”

 8:30 And He warned 2008 them to tell 3004 no 3367 one 3367 about 4012 Him.

 8:31 ¶ And He began 757 to teach 1321 them that the Son 5207 of Man 444 must 1163 suffer 3958 many 4183 things 4183 and be rejected 593 by the elders 4245 and the chief 749 priests 749 and the scribes 1122, and be killed 615, and after 3326 three 5140 days 2250 rise 450 again 450.

 8:32 And He was stating 2980 the matter 3056 plainly 3954. And Peter 4074 took 4355 Him aside 4355 and began 757 to rebuke 2008 Him.

 8:33 But turning 1994 around 1994 and seeing 3708 His disciples 3101, He rebuked 2008 Peter 4074 and *said 3004, “Get 5217 behind 3694 Me, Satan 4567; for you are not setting 5426 your mind 5426 on God’s 2316 interests, but man’s 444.”

 8:34 ¶ And He summoned 4341 the crowd 3793 with His disciples 3101, and said 3004 to them, “If 1487 anyone 5100 wishes 2309 to come 2064 after 3694 Me, he must deny 533 himself 1438, and take 142 up his cross 4716 and follow 190 Me.

 8:35 “For whoever 3739 1437 wishes 2309 to save 4982 his life 5590 will lose 622 it, but whoever 3739 302 loses 622 his life 5590 for My sake 1752a and the gospel’s 2098 will save 4982 it.

 8:36 “For what 5101 does it profit 5623 a man 444 to gain 2770 the whole 3650 world 2889, and forfeit 2210 his soul 5590?

 8:37 “For what 5101 will a man 444 give 1325 in exchange 465 for his soul 5590?

 8:38 “For whoever 3739 1437 is ashamed 1870 of Me and My words 3056 in this 3778 adulterous 3428 and sinful 268 generation 1074, the Son 5207 of Man 444 will also 2532 be ashamed 1870 of him when 3752 He comes 2064 in the glory 1391 of His Father 3962 with the holy 40 angels 32a.”
