1 A conspiracy against Christ. 3 Precious ointment is poured on his head by a woman. 10 Judas selleth his Master for money. 12 Christ himself foretelleth how he shall be betrayed by one of his disciples: 22 after the Passover prepared, and eaten, instituteth his supper: 26 declareth aforehand the flight of all his disciples, and Peter's denial. 43 Judas betrayeth him with a kiss. 46 He is apprehended in the garden, 55 falsely accused, and impiously condemned by the Jews' council: 65 shamefully abused by them: 66 and thrice denied of Peter.

Now 1161 the Passover 3957 and Unleavened 106 Bread were two 1417 days 2250 away 3326; and the chief 749 priests 749 and the scribes 1122 were seeking 2212 how 4459 to seize 2902 Him by stealth 1388 and kill 615 [Him];
14:2
for they were saying 3004, “Not during 1722 the festival 1859, otherwise 3379 there might be a riot 2351 of the people 2992.”
14:3
¶ While He was in Bethany 963 at the home 3614 of Simon 4613 the leper 3015, and reclining 2621 [at the table], there came 2064 a woman 1135 with an alabaster 211 vial 211 of very 4185 costly 4185 perfume 3464 of pure 4101 nard 3487; [and] she broke 4937 the vial 211 and poured 2708 it over 2708 His head 2776.
14:4
But some 5100 were indignantly 23 [remarking] to one 1438 another 1438, “Why 1519 5101 has this 3778 perfume 3464 been 1096 wasted 684?
14:5
“For this 3778 perfume 3464 might 1410 have been sold 4097 for over 1883 three 5145 hundred 5145 denarii 1220, and [the money] given 1325 to the poor 4434.” And they were scolding 1690 her.
14:6
But Jesus 2424 said 3004, “Let 863 her alone 863; why 5101 do you bother 2873 3930 her? She has done 2038b a good 2570 deed 2041 to Me.
14:7
“For you always 3842 have 2192 the poor 4434 with you, and whenever 3752 you wish 2309 you can 1410 do 4160 good 2095 to them; but you do not always 3842 have 2192 Me.
14:8
“She has done 4160 what 3739 she could 2192; she has anointed 3462 My body 4983 beforehand 4301 for the burial 1780.
14:9
“Truly 281 I say 3004 to you, wherever 3699 1437 the gospel 2098 is preached 2784 in the whole 3650 world 2889, what 3588 this 3778 woman 3778 has done 4160 will also 2532 be spoken 2980 of in memory 3422 of her.”

¶ Then 2532 Judas 2455 Iscariot 2469, who 3588 was one 1520 of the twelve 1427, went 565 off 565 to the chief 749 priests 749 in order 2443 to betray 3860 Him to them.

They were glad 5463 when they heard 191 [this], and promised 1861 to give 1325 him money 694. And he [began] seeking 2212 how 4459 to betray 3860 Him at an opportune 2122 time 2122.

¶ On the first 4413 day 2250 of Unleavened 106 Bread, when 3753 the Passover 3957 [lamb] was being sacrificed 2380, His disciples 3101 *said 3004 to Him, “Where 4226 do You want 2309 us to go 565 and prepare 2090 for You to eat 2068 the Passover 3957?”

And He *sent 649 two 1417 of His disciples 3101 and *said 3004 to them, “Go 5217 into the city 4172, and a man 444 will meet 528 you carrying 941 a pitcher 2765 of water 5204; follow 190 him;

and wherever 3699 1437 he enters 1525, say 3004 to the owner 3617 of the house 3617, ‘The Teacher 1320 says 3004, “Where 4226 is My guest 2646 room 2646 in which 3699 I may eat 2068 the Passover 3957 with My disciples 3101?”’
14:15
“And he himself 846 will show 1166 you a large 3173 upper 311b room 311b furnished 4766 [and] ready 2092; prepare 2090 for us there 1563.”
14:16
The disciples 3101 went 1831 out and came 2064 to the city 4172, and found 2147 [it] just 2531a as He had told 3004 them; and they prepared 2090 the Passover 3957.
14:17
¶ When it was evening 3798 He *came 2064 with the twelve 1427.
14:18
As they were reclining 345 [at the table] and eating 2068, Jesus 2424 said 3004, “Truly 281 I say 3004 to you that one 1520 of you will betray 3860 Me—one who is eating 2068 with Me.”
14:19
They began 757 to be grieved 3076 and to say 3004 to Him one 1520 by one 1520, “Surely 3385 not I?”
14:20
And He said 3004 to them, “[It is] one of the twelve 1427, one who dips 1686 with Me in the bowl 5165.
14:21
“For the Son 5207 of Man 444 [is to] go 5217 just 2531a as it is written 1125 of Him; but woe 3759 to that man 444 by whom 3739 the Son 5207 of Man 444 is betrayed 3860! [It would have been] good 2570 for that man 444 if 1487 he had not been born 1080.”
14:22
¶ While they were eating 2068, He took 2983 [some] bread 740, and after a blessing 2127 He broke 2806 [it], and gave 1325 [it] to them, and said 3004, “Take 2983 [it]; this 3778 is My body 4983.”
14:23
And when He had taken 2983 a cup 4221 [and] given 2168 thanks 2168, He gave 1325 [it] to them, and they all 3956 drank 4095 from it.
14:24
And He said 3004 to them, “This 3778 is My blood 129 of the covenant 1242, which 3588 is poured 1632b out for many 4183.
14:25
“Truly 281 I say 3004 to you, I will never 3756 3361 again 3765 drink 4095 of the fruit 1079b of the vine 288 until 2193 that day 2250 when 3752 I drink 4095 it new 2537 in the kingdom 932 of God 2316.”

¶ After singing 5214 a hymn 5214, they went 1831 out to the Mount 3735 of Olives 1636.
14:27
¶ And Jesus 2424 *said 3004 to them, “You will all 3956 fall 4624 away 4624, because 3754 it is written 1125, ‘I WILL STRIKE 3960 DOWN 3960 THE SHEPHERD 4166, AND THE SHEEP 4263b SHALL BE SCATTERED 1287.’

“But after 3326 I have been raised 1453, I will go 4254 ahead 4254 of you to Galilee 1056.”
14:29
But Peter 4074 said 5346 to Him, “[Even] though 1487 all 3956 may fall 4624 away 4624, yet 235 I will not.”
14:30
And Jesus 2424 *said 3004 to him, “Truly 281 I say 3004 to you, that this 3778 very 4594 night 3571, before 4250 a rooster 220 crows 5455 twice 1364, you yourself 4771 will deny 533 Me three 5151 times 5151.”
14:31
But [Peter] kept saying 2980 insistently 1600a, “[Even] if 1437 I have to die 4880 with You, I will not deny 533 You!” And they all 3956 were saying 3004 the same 5615 thing 5615 also 2532.
14:32
¶ They *came 2064 to a place 5564 named 3686 Gethsemane 1068; and He *said 3004 to His disciples 3101, “Sit 2523 here 5602 until 2193 I have prayed 4336.”
14:33
And He *took 3880 with Him Peter 4074 and James 2385 and John 2491, and began 757 to be very 1568 distressed 1568 and troubled 85.
14:34
And He *said 3004 to them, “My soul 5590 is deeply 4036 grieved 4036 to the point 2193 of death 2288; remain 3306 here 5602 and keep 1127 watch 1127.”
14:35
And He went 4281 a little 3398 beyond 4281 [them], and fell 4098 to the ground 1093 and [began] to pray 4336 that if 1487 it were possible 1415, the hour 5610 might pass 3928 Him by.
14:36
And He was saying 3004, “Abba 5! Father 3962! All 3956 things 3956 are possible 1415 for You; remove 3911 this 3778 cup 4221 from Me; yet 235 not what 5101 I will 2309, but what 5101 You will.”
14:37
And He *came 2064 and *found 2147 them sleeping 2518, and *said 3004 to Peter 4074, “Simon 4613, are you asleep 2518? Could 2480 you not keep 1127 watch 1127 for one 1520 hour 5610?
14:38
“Keep 1127 watching and praying 4336 that you may not come 2064 into temptation 3986; the spirit 4151 is willing 4289, but the flesh 4561 is weak 772.”
14:39
Again 3825 He went 565 away 565 and prayed 4336, saying 3004 the same 846 words 3056.
14:40
And again 3825 He came 2064 and found 2147 them sleeping 2518, for their eyes 3788 were very heavy 2599b; and they did not know 3609a what 5101 to answer 611 Him.
14:41
And He *came 2064 the third 5154 time 5154, and *said 3004 to them, “Are you still 3062 sleeping 2518 and resting 373? It is enough 568; the hour 5610 has come 2064; behold 2400, the Son 5207 of Man 444 is being betrayed 3860 into the hands 5495 of sinners 268.

“Get 1453 up, let us be going 71; behold 2400, the one who betrays 3860 Me is at hand 1448!”
14:43
¶ Immediately 2117 while He was still 2089 speaking 2980, Judas 2455, one 1520 of the twelve 1427, *came 3854 up accompanied 3326 846 by a crowd 3793 with swords 3162 and clubs 3586, [who were] from the chief 749 priests 749 and the scribes 1122 and the elders 4245.
14:44
Now 1161 he who was betraying 3860 Him had given 1325 them a signal 4953, saying 3004, “Whomever 3739 302 I kiss 5368, He is the one; seize 2902 Him and lead 520 Him away 520 under 806 guard 806.”
14:45
After coming 2064, Judas immediately 2117 went 4334 to Him, saying 3004, “Rabbi 4461!” and kissed 2705 Him.
14:46
They laid 1911 hands 5495 on Him and seized 2902 Him.
14:47
But one 1520 of those 3588 who stood 3936 by drew 4685 his sword 3162, and struck 3817 the slave 1401 of the high 749 priest 749 and cut 851 off 851 his ear 5621a.
14:48
And Jesus 2424 said 3004 to them, “Have you come 1831 out with swords 3162 and clubs 3586 to arrest 4815 Me, as [you would] against 1909 a robber 3027?
14:49
“Every 2596 day 2250 I was with you in the temple 2413 teaching 1321, and you did not seize 2902 Me; but [this has taken place] to fulfill 4137 the Scriptures 1124.”
14:50
And they all 3956 left 863 Him and fled 5343.
14:51
¶ A young 3495 man 3495 was following 4870 Him, wearing 4016 [nothing but] a linen 4616 sheet 4616 over 1909 [his] naked 1131 [body]; and they *seized 2902 him.
14:52
But he pulled 2641 free 2641 of the linen 4616 sheet 4616 and escaped 5343 naked 1131.
14:53
¶ They led 520 Jesus 2424 away 520 to the high 749 priest 749; and all 3956 the chief 749 priests 749 and the elders 4245 and the scribes 1122 *gathered 4905 together 4905.
14:54
Peter 4074 had followed 190 Him at a distance 3113, right 2193 into the courtyard 833 of the high 749 priest 749; and he was sitting 4775 with the officers 5257 and warming 2328 himself at the fire 5457.
14:55
Now 1161 the chief 749 priests 749 and the whole 3650 Council 4892 kept trying 2212 to obtain 2212 testimony 3141 against 2596 Jesus 2424 to put 2289 Him to death 2289, and they were not finding 2147 any.
14:56
For many 4183 were giving 5576 false 5576 testimony 5576 against 2596 Him, but their testimony 3141 was not consistent 2470.
14:57
Some 5100 stood 450 up and [began] to give 5576 false 5576 testimony 5576 against 2596 Him, saying 3004,
14:58
“We heard 191 Him say 3004, ‘I will destroy 2647 this 3778 temple 3485 made 5499 with hands 5499, and in three 5140 days 2250 I will build 3618 another 243 made 886 without 886 hands 886.’”
14:59
Not even 3761 in this 3779 respect 3779 was their testimony 3141 consistent 2470.
14:60
The high 749 priest 749 stood 450 up [and came] forward 1519 3319 and questioned 1905 Jesus 2424, saying 3004, “Do You not answer 611? What 5101 is it that these 3778 men 3778 are testifying 2649 against 2649 You?”
14:61
But He kept 4623 silent 4623 and did not answer 611. Again 3825 the high 749 priest 749 was questioning 1905 Him, and saying 3004 to Him, “Are You the Christ 5547, the Son 5207 of the Blessed 2128 [One]?”
14:62
And Jesus 2424 said 3004, “I am 1510; and you shall see 3708 THE SON 5207 OF MAN 444 SITTING 2521 AT THE RIGHT 1188 HAND 1188 OF POWER 1411, and COMING 2064 WITH THE CLOUDS 3507 OF HEAVEN 3772.”

Tearing 1284 his clothes 5509, the high 749 priest 749 *said 3004, “What 5101 further 2089 need 5532 do we have 2192 of witnesses 3144?
14:64
“You have heard 191 the blasphemy 988; how 5101 does it seem 5316 to you?” And they all 3956 condemned 2632 Him to be deserving 1777 of death 2288.
14:65
Some 5100 began 757 to spit 1716 at Him, and to blindfold 4028 Him, and to beat 2852 Him with their fists 2852, and to say 3004 to Him, “Prophesy 4395!” And the officers 5257 received 2983 Him with slaps 4475 [in the face].

¶ As Peter 4074 was below 2736 in the courtyard 833, one 1520 of the servant-girls 3814 of the high 749 priest 749 *came 2064,
14:67
and seeing 3708 Peter 4074 warming 2328 himself, she looked 1689 at him and *said 3004, “You also 2532 were with Jesus 2424 the Nazarene 3479.”
14:68
But he denied 720 [it], saying 3004, “I neither 3777 know 3609a nor 3777 understand 1987 what 5101 you are talking 3004 about.” And he went 1831 out onto 1519 the porch 4259.
14:69
The servant-girl 3814 saw 3708 him, and began 757 once 3825 more 3825 to say 3004 to the bystanders 3936, “This 3778 is [one] of them!”
14:70
But again 3825 he denied 720 it. And after 3326 a little 3398 while 3398 the bystanders 3936 were again 3825 saying 3004 to Peter 4074, “Surely 230 you are [one] of them, for you are a Galilean 1057 too 2532.”
14:71
But he began 757 to curse 332 and swear 3660, “I do not know 3609a this 3778 man 444 you are talking 3004 about!”
14:72
Immediately 2117 a rooster 220 crowed 5455 a second 1208 time 1208. And Peter 4074 remembered 363 how 5613 Jesus 2424 had made 3004 the remark 4487 to him, “Before 4250 a rooster 220 crows 5455 twice 1364, you will deny 533 Me three 5151 times 5151.” And he began to weep 2799.
