Mark 2

1 Christ healeth one sick of the palsy: 14 calleth Matthew from the receipt of custom: 15 eateth with publicans and sinners: 18 excuseth his disciples for not fasting, 23 and for plucking the ears of corn on the Sabbath day.

 2:1 When He had come 1525 back 3825 to Capernaum 2746b several days 2250 afterward 1223, it was heard 191 that He was at home 3624.

 2:2 And many 4183 were gathered 4863 together 4863, so 5620 that there was no 3371 longer 3371 room 5562, not even 3366 near 4314 the door 2374; and He was speaking 2980 the word 3056 to them.

 2:3 And they *came 2064, bringing 5342 to Him a paralytic 3885, carried 142 by four 5064 men 5064.

 2:4 Being unable 3361 1410 to get 4374 to Him because 1223 of the crowd 3793, they removed 648 the roof 4721 above 3699 Him; and when they had dug 1846 an opening, they let 5465 down 5465 the pallet 2895 on which 3699 the paralytic 3885 was lying 2621.

 2:5 And Jesus 2424 seeing 3708 their faith 4102 *said 3004 to the paralytic 3885, “Son 5043, your sins 266 are forgiven 863.”

 2:6 But some 5100 of the scribes 1122 were sitting 2521 there 1563 and reasoning 1260 in their hearts 2588,

 2:7 “Why 5101 does this 3778 man 3778 speak 2980 that way 3779? He is blaspheming 987; who 5101 can 1410 forgive 863 sins 266 but God 2316 alone 1520?”

 2:8 Immediately 2117 Jesus 2424, aware 1921 in His spirit 4151 that they were reasoning 1260 that way 3779 within 1722 themselves 1438, *said 3004 to them, “Why 5101 are you reasoning 1260 about these 3778 things 3778 in your hearts 2588?

 2:9 “Which 5101 is easier 2123, to say 3004 to the paralytic 3885, ‘Your sins 266 are forgiven 863’; or 2228 to say 3004, ‘Get 1453 up, and pick 142 up your pallet 2895 and walk 4043’?

 2:10 “But so 2443 that you may know 3609a that the Son 5207 of Man 444 has 2192 authority 1849 on earth 1093 to forgive 863 sins 266”—He *said 3004 to the paralytic 3885,

 2:11 “I say 3004 to you, get 1453 up, pick 142 up your pallet 2895 and go 5217 home 3624.”

 2:12 And he got 1453 up and immediately 2117 picked 142 up the pallet 2895 and went 1831 out in the sight 1715 of everyone 3956, so 5620 that they were all 3956 amazed 1839 and were glorifying 1392 God 2316, saying 3004, “We have never 3763 seen 3708 anything like 3779 this 3779.”

 2:13 ¶ And He went 1831 out again 3825 by the seashore 2281; and all 3956 the people 3793 were coming 2064 to Him, and He was teaching 1321 them.

 2:14 As He passed 3855 by, He saw 3708 Levi 3017 the [son] of Alphaeus 256b sitting 2521 in the tax 5058 booth 5058, and He *said 3004 to him, “Follow 190 Me!” And he got 450 up and followed 190 Him.

 2:15 ¶ And it *happened 1096 that He was reclining 2621 [at the table] in his house 3614, and many 4183 tax 5057 collectors 5057 and sinners 268 were dining 4873 with Jesus 2424 and His disciples 3101; for there were many 4183 of them, and they were following 190 Him.

 2:16 When the scribes 1122 of the Pharisees 5330 saw 3708 that He was eating 2068 with the sinners 268 and tax 5057 collectors 5057, they said 3004 to His disciples 3101, “Why 5101 is He eating 2068 and drinking 4095 with tax 5057 collectors 5057 and sinners 268?”

 2:17 And hearing 191 [this], Jesus 2424 *said 3004 to them, “[It is] not those 3588 who are healthy 2480 who need 5532 a physician 2395, but those 3588 who are sick 2560; I did not come 2064 to call 2564 the righteous 1342, but sinners 268.”

 2:18 ¶ John’s 2491 disciples 3101 and the Pharisees 5330 were fasting 3522; and they *came 2064 and *said 3004 to Him, “Why 1223 5101 do John’s 2491 disciples 3101 and the disciples 3101 of the Pharisees 5330 fast 3522, but Your disciples 3101 do not fast 3522?”

 2:19 And Jesus 2424 said 3004 to them, “While 1722 3739 the bridegroom 3566 is with them, the attendants 5207 of the bridegroom 3567 cannot 1410 fast 3522, can they? So 3745 long 5550 as they have 2192 the bridegroom 3566 with them, they cannot 1410 3756 fast 3522.

 2:20 “But the days 2250 will come 2064 when 3752 the bridegroom 3566 is taken 522 away 522 from them, and then 5119 they will fast 3522 in that day 2250.

 2:21 ¶ “No 3762 one 3762 sews 1976 a patch 1915 of unshrunk 46 cloth 4470 on an old 3820 garment 2440; otherwise 1490b the patch 4138 pulls 142 away 142 from it, the new 2537 from the old 3820, and a worse 5501 tear 4978 results 1096.

 2:22 “No 3762 one 3762 puts 906 new 3501b wine 3631 into old 3820 wineskins 779; otherwise 1490b the wine 3631 will burst 4486 the skins 779, and the wine 3631 is lost 622 and the skins 779 [as well]; but [one puts] new 3501b wine 3631 into fresh 2537 wineskins 779.”

 2:23 ¶ And it happened 1096 that He was passing 3899 through 1223 the grainfields 4702 on the Sabbath 4521, and His disciples 3101 began 757 to make 4160 their way 3598 along while picking 5089 the heads 4719 [of grain].

 2:24 The Pharisees 5330 were saying 3004 to Him, “Look 2396, why 5101 are they doing 4160 what 3739 is not lawful 1832 on the Sabbath 4521?”

 2:25 And He *said 3004 to them, “Have you never 3763 read 314 what 5101 David 1160b did 4160 when 3753 he was in need 5532 and he and his companions 3588 3326 became hungry 3983;

 2:26 how 4459 he entered 1525 the house 3624 of God 2316 in the time 1909 of Abiathar 8 [the] high 749 priest 749, and ate 2068 the consecrated 4286 bread 740, which 3739 is not lawful 1832 for [anyone] to eat 2068 except 1508 the priests 2409, and he also 2532 gave 1325 it to those 3588 who were with him?”

 2:27 Jesus said 3004 to them, “The Sabbath 4521 was made 1096 for man 444, and not man 444 for the Sabbath 4521.

 2:28 “So 5620 the Son 5207 of Man 444 is Lord 2962 even 2532 of the Sabbath 4521.”
