Mark 15

1 Jesus brought bound, and accused before Pilate. 15 Upon the clamour of the common people, the murderer Barabbas is loosed, and Jesus delivered up to be crucified. 17 He is crowned with thorns, 19 spit on, and mocked: 21 fainteth in bearing his cross: 27 hangeth between two thieves: 29 suffereth the triumphing reproaches of the Jews: 39 but confessed by the centurion to be the Son of God: 43 and is honourably buried by Joseph.

 15:1 Early 2117 in the morning 4404 the chief 749 priests 749 with the elders 4245 and scribes 1122 and the whole 3650 Council 4892, immediately 2117 held 4160 a consultation 4824; and binding 1210 Jesus 2424, they led 667 Him away 667 and delivered 3860 Him to Pilate 4091.

 15:2 Pilate 4091 questioned 1905 Him, “Are You the King 935 of the Jews 2453?” And He *answered 611 him, “[It is as] you say 3004.”

 15:3 The chief 749 priests 749 [began] to accuse 2723 Him harshly 4183.

 15:4 Then 2532 Pilate 4091 questioned 1905 Him again 3825, saying 3004, “Do You not answer 611? See 2396 how 4214 many 4214 charges 2723 they bring 2723 against 2723 You!”

 15:5 But Jesus 2424 made 611 no 3762 3765 further 3765 answer 611; so 5620 Pilate 4091 was amazed 2296.

 15:6 ¶ Now 1161 at [the] feast 1859 he used to release 630 for them [any] one 1520 prisoner 1198 whom 3739 they requested 3868.

 15:7 The man named 3004 Barabbas 912 had been 1510 imprisoned 1210 with the insurrectionists 4714a who 3748 had committed 4160 murder 5408 in the insurrection 4714b.

 15:8 The crowd 3793 went 305 up and began 757 asking 154 him [to do] as he had been accustomed to do 4160 for them.

 15:9 Pilate 4091 answered 611 them, saying 3004, “Do you want 2309 me to release 630 for you the King 935 of the Jews 2453?”

 15:10 For he was aware 1097 that the chief 749 priests 749 had handed 3860 Him over because 1223 of envy 5355.

 15:11 But the chief 749 priests 749 stirred 383 up the crowd 3793 [to ask] him to release 630 Barabbas 912 for them instead 3123.

 15:12 Answering 611 again 3825, Pilate 4091 said 3004 to them, “Then 3767 what 5101 shall I do 4160 with Him whom 3739 you call 3004 the King 935 of the Jews 2453?”

 15:13 They shouted 2896 back 3825, “Crucify 4717 Him!”

 15:14 But Pilate 4091 said 3004 to them, “Why 1063, what 5101 evil 2556 has He done 4160?” But they shouted 2896 all 4057 the more 4057, “Crucify 4717 Him!”

 15:15 Wishing 1014 to satisfy 4160 2425 the crowd 3793, Pilate 4091 released 630 Barabbas 912 for them, and after having Jesus 2424 scourged 5417, he handed 3860 Him over to be crucified 4717.

 15:16 ¶ The soldiers 4757 took 520 Him away 520 into the palace 833 (that is, the Praetorium 4232), and they *called 4779 together 4779 the whole 3650 [Roman] cohort 4686.

 15:17 They *dressed 1737 Him up in purple 4209, and after twisting 4120 a crown 4735 of thorns 174, they put 4060 it on Him;

 15:18 and they began 757 to acclaim 782 Him, “Hail 5463, King 935 of the Jews 2453!”

 15:19 They kept beating 5180 His head 2776 with a reed 2563, and spitting 1716 on Him, and kneeling 1119 5087 and bowing 4352 before 4352 Him.

 15:20 After 3753 they had mocked 1702 Him, they took 1562 the purple 4209 robe 4209 off 1562 Him and put 1746a His [own] garments 2440 on Him. And they *led 1806 Him out to crucify 4717 Him.

 15:21 ¶ They *pressed 29 into service 29 a passer-by 3855 coming 2064 from the country 68, Simon 4613 of Cyrene 2956 (the father 3962 of Alexander 223 and Rufus 4504), to bear 142 His cross 4716.

 15:22 ¶ Then 2532 they *brought 5342 Him to the place 5117 Golgotha 1115, which 3739 is translated 3177, Place 5117 of a Skull 2898.

 15:23 They tried to give 1325 Him wine 3631 mixed 4669 with myrrh 4669; but He did not take 2983 it.

 15:24 And they *crucified 4717 Him, and *divided 1266 up His garments 2440 among 1266 themselves, casting 906 lots 2819 for them [to decide] what 5101 each 5101 man 5100 should take 142.

 15:25 It was the third 5154 hour 5610 when 2532 they crucified 4717 Him.

 15:26 The inscription 1923 of the charge 156 against 156 Him read 1924, “THE KING 935 OF THE JEWS 2453.”

 15:27 ¶ They *crucified 4717 two 1417 robbers 3027 with Him, one 1520 on His right 1188 and one 1520 on His left 2176.

 15:28 [[And the Scripture 1124 was fulfilled 4137 which says 3004, “And He was numbered 3049 with transgressors 459.”]]

 15:29 Those 3588 passing 3899 by were hurling 987 abuse 987 at Him, wagging 2795 their heads 2776, and saying 3004, “Ha 3758! You who [are going to] destroy 2647 the temple 3485 and rebuild 3618 it in three 5140 days 2250,

 15:30 save 4982 Yourself 4572, and come 2597 down 2597 from the cross 4716!”

 15:31 In the same 3668 way 3668 the chief 749 priests 749 also 2532, along with the scribes 1122, were mocking 1702 [Him] among 4314 themselves 240 and saying 3004, “He saved 4982 others 243; He cannot 1410 3756 save 4982 Himself 1438.

 15:32 “Let [this] Christ 5547, the King 935 of Israel 2474, now 3568 come 2597 down 2597 from the cross 4716, so 2443 that we may see 3708 and believe 4100!” Those 3588 who were crucified 4957 with Him were also 2532 insulting 3679 Him.

 15:33 ¶ When the sixth 1623 hour 5610 came 1096, darkness 4655 fell 1096 over 1909 the whole 3650 land 1093 until 2193 the ninth 1729a hour 5610.

 15:34 At the ninth 1729a hour 5610 Jesus 2424 cried 994 out with a loud 3173 voice 5456, “ELOI 1682, ELOI 1682, LAMA 2982 SABACHTHANI 4518?” which 3739 is translated 3177, “MY GOD 2316, MY GOD 2316, WHY 1519 5101 HAVE YOU FORSAKEN 1459 ME?”

 15:35 When some 5100 of the bystanders 3936 heard 191 it, they [began] saying 3004, “Behold 2396, He is calling 5455 for Elijah 2243.”

 15:36 Someone 5100 ran 5143 and filled 1072 a sponge 4699 with sour 3690 wine 3690, put 4060 it on a reed 2563, and gave 4222 Him a drink 4222, saying 3004, “Let 863 us see 3708 whether 1487 Elijah 2243 will come 2064 to take 2507 Him down 2507.”

 15:37 And Jesus 2424 uttered 863 a loud 3173 cry 5456, and breathed 1606 His last 1606.

 15:38 And the veil 2665 of the temple 3485 was torn 4977 in two 1417 from top 509 to bottom 2736.

 15:39 When the centurion 2760, who was standing 3936 right 1727 in front 1727 of Him, saw 3708 the way 3779 He breathed 1606 His last 1606, he said 3004, “Truly 230 this 3778 man 444 was the Son 5207 of God 2316!”

 15:40 ¶ There were also 2532 [some] women 1135 looking 2334 on from a distance 3113, among 1722 whom 3739 [were] Mary 3137 Magdalene 3094, and Mary 3137 the mother 3384 of James 2385 the Less 3398 and Joses 2500, and Salome 4539.

 15:41 When 3753 He was in Galilee 1056, they used to follow 190 Him and minister 1247 to Him; and [there were] many 4183 other 243 women 243 who came 4872 up with Him to Jerusalem 2414.

 15:42 ¶ When evening 3798 had already 2235 come 1096, because 1893 it was the preparation 3904 day 3904, that is, the day 4315 before 4315 the Sabbath 4315,

 15:43 Joseph 2501 of Arimathea 707 came 2064, a prominent 2158 member 1010 of the Council 1010, who 3739 himself 846 was waiting 4327 for the kingdom 932 of God 2316; and he gathered 5111 up courage 5111 and went 1525 in before 4314 Pilate 4091, and asked 154 for the body 4983 of Jesus 2424.

 15:44 Pilate 4091 wondered 2296 if 1487 He was dead 2348 by this 2235 time 2235, and summoning 4341 the centurion 2760, he questioned 1905 him as to whether 1487 He was already 2235 dead 599.

 15:45 And ascertaining 1097 this from the centurion 2760, he granted 1433 the body 4430 to Joseph 2501.

 15:46 Joseph bought 59 a linen 4616 cloth 4616, took 2507 Him down 2507, wrapped 1750 Him in the linen 4616 cloth 4616 and laid 2698 Him in a tomb 3418 which 3739 had been 1510 hewn 2998 out in the rock 4073; and he rolled 4351 a stone 3037 against 1909 the entrance 2374 of the tomb 3419.

 15:47 Mary 3137 Magdalene 3094 and Mary 3137 the [mother] of Joses 2500 were looking 2334 on [to see] where 4226 He was laid 5087.
