Mark 4

1 The parable of the sower, 14 and the meaning thereof. 21 We must communicate the light of our knowledge to others. 26 The parable of the seed growing secretly, 30 and of the mustard seed. 35 Christ stilleth the tempest on the sea.

 4:1 He began 757 to teach 1321 again 3825 by the sea 2281. And such a very 4183 large 4183 crowd 3793 gathered 4863 to Him that He got 1684 into a boat 4143 in the sea 2281 and sat 2521 down 2521; and the whole 3956 crowd 3793 was by the sea 2281 on the land 1093.

 4:2 And He was teaching 1321 them many 4183 things 4183 in parables 3850b, and was saying 3004 to them in His teaching 1322,

 4:3 “Listen 191 [to this]! Behold 2400, the sower 4687 went 1831 out to sow 4687;

 4:4 as he was sowing 4687, some 3739 3303a [seed] fell 4098 beside 3844 the road 3598, and the birds 4071 came 2064 and ate 2719 it up.

 4:5 “Other 243 [seed] fell 4098 on the rocky 4075 [ground] where 3699 it did not have 2192 much 4183 soil 1093; and immediately 2117 it sprang 1816 up because 1223 it had 2192 no 3361 depth 899 of soil 1093.

 4:6 “And after 3753 the sun 2246 had risen 393, it was scorched 2739; and because 1223 it had 2192 no 3361 root 4491, it withered 3583 away 3583.

 4:7 “Other 243 [seed] fell 4098 among 1519 the thorns 173, and the thorns 173 came 305 up and choked 4846 it, and it yielded 1325 no 3756 crop 2590.

 4:8 “Other 243 [seeds] fell 4098 into the good 2570 soil 1093, and as they grew 305 up and increased 837, they yielded 1325 a crop 2590 and produced 5342 thirty 5144b, sixty 1835, and a hundredfold 1540.”

 4:9 And He was saying 3004, “He who 3739 has 2192 ears 3775 to hear 191, let him hear 191.”

 4:10 ¶ As soon 3753 as He was alone 3441, His followers 3588 4012, along 4862 with the twelve 1427, [began] asking 2065 Him [about] the parables 3850b.

 4:11 And He was saying 3004 to them, “To you has been given 1325 the mystery 3466 of the kingdom 932 of God 2316, but those 1565 who are outside 1854 get 1096 everything 3956 in parables 3850b,

 4:12 so 2443 that WHILE SEEING 991, THEY MAY SEE 991 AND NOT PERCEIVE 3708, AND WHILE HEARING 191, THEY MAY HEAR 191 AND NOT UNDERSTAND 4920, OTHERWISE 3379 THEY MIGHT RETURN 1994 AND BE FORGIVEN 863.”

 4:13 ¶ And He *said 3004 to them, “Do you not understand 3609a this 3778 parable 3850b? How 4459 will you understand 1097 all 3956 the parables 3850b?

 4:14 “The sower 4687 sows 4687 the word 3056.

 4:15 “These 3778 are the ones who 3588 are beside 3844 the road 3598 where 3699 the word 3056 is sown 4687; and when 3752 they hear 191, immediately 2117 Satan 4567 comes 2064 and takes 142 away 142 the word 3056 which has been sown 4687 in them.

 4:16 “In a similar 3668 way 3668 these 3778 are the ones on whom seed was sown 4687 on the rocky 4075 [places], who 3739, when 3752 they hear 191 the word 3056, immediately 2117 receive 2983 it with joy 5479;

 4:17 and they have 2192 no 3756 [firm] root 4491 in themselves 1438, but are [only] temporary 4340; then 1534, when affliction 2347 or 2228 persecution 1375 arises 1096 because 1223 of the word 3056, immediately 2117 they fall 4624 away 4624.

 4:18 “And others 243 are the ones on whom seed was sown 4687 among 1519 the thorns 173; these 3778 are the ones who have heard 191 the word 3056,

 4:19 but the worries 3308 of the world 165, and the deceitfulness 539 of riches 4149, and the desires 1939 for other 3062 things 3062 enter 1531 in and choke 4846 the word 3056, and it becomes 1096 unfruitful 175.

 4:20 “And those 1565 are the ones on whom seed was sown 4687 on the good 2570 soil 1093; and they hear 191 the word 3056 and accept 3858 it and bear 2592 fruit 2592, thirty 5144b, sixty 1835, and a hundredfold 1540.”

 4:21 ¶ And He was saying 3004 to them, “A lamp 3088 is not brought 2064 to be put 5087 under 5259 a basket 3426, is it, or 2228 under 5259 a bed 2825b? Is it not [brought] to be put 5087 on the lampstand 3087?

 4:22 “For nothing 3756 5100 is hidden 2927, except 1437 3361 to be revealed 5319; nor 3761 has [anything] been 1096 secret 614, but that it would come 2064 to light 5318.

 4:23 “If 1487 anyone 5100 has 2192 ears 3775 to hear 191, let him hear 191.”

 4:24 And He was saying 3004 to them, “Take 991 care 991 what 5101 you listen 191 to. By your standard 3358 of measure 3354 it will be measured 3354 to you; and more 4369 will be given 4369 you besides 4369.

 4:25 “For whoever 3739 has 2192, to him [more] shall be given 1325; and whoever 3739 does not have 2192, even 2532 what 3739 he has 2192 shall be taken 142 away 142 from him.”

 4:26 ¶ And He was saying 3004, “The kingdom 932 of God 2316 is like 3779 5613 a man 444 who casts 906 seed 4703 upon the soil 1093;

 4:27 and he goes 2518 to bed 2518 at night 3571 and gets 1453 up by day 2250, and the seed 4703 sprouts 985 and grows 3373—how 5613, he himself 846 does not know 3609a.

 4:28 “The soil 1093 produces 2592 crops 2592 by itself 844; first 4413 the blade 5528, then 1535b the head 4719, then 1535b the mature 4134 grain 4621 in the head 4719.

 4:29 “But when 3752 the crop 2590 permits 3860, he immediately 2117 puts 649 in the sickle 1407, because 3754 the harvest 2326 has come 3936.”

 4:30 ¶ And He said 3004, “How 4459 shall we picture 3666 the kingdom 932 of God 2316, or 2228 by what 5101 parable 3850b shall we present 5087 it?

 4:31 “[It is] like 5613 a mustard 4615 seed 2848, which 3739, when 3752 sown 4687 upon the soil 1093, though it is smaller 3398 than all 3956 the seeds 4690 that are upon the soil 1093,

 4:32 yet 2532 when 3752 it is sown 4687, it grows 305 up and becomes 1096 larger 3173 than all 3956 the garden 3001 plants 3001 and forms 4160 large 3173 branches 2798; so 5620 that THE BIRDS 4071 OF THE AIR 3772 can 1410 NEST 2681 UNDER 5259 ITS SHADE 4639.”

 4:33 ¶ With many 4183 such 5108 parables 3850b He was speaking 2980 the word 3056 to them, so 2531a far as they were able 1410 to hear 191 it;

 4:34 and He did not speak 2980 to them without 5565 a parable 3850b; but He was explaining 1956 everything 3956 privately 2596 2398 to His own 2398 disciples 3101.

 4:35 ¶ On that day 2250, when evening 3798 came 1096, He *said 3004 to them, “Let us go 1330 over 1330 to the other 4008 side 4008.”

 4:36 Leaving 863 the crowd 3793, they *took 3880 Him along 3880 with them in the boat 4143, just 5613 as He was; and other 243 boats 4143 were with Him.

 4:37 And there *arose 1096 a fierce 3173 gale 2978 of wind 417, and the waves 2949 were breaking 1911 over 1911 the boat 4143 so 5620 much that the boat 4143 was already 2235 filling 1072 up.

 4:38 Jesus Himself 846 was in the stern 4403, asleep 2518 on the cushion 4344; and they *woke 1453 Him and *said 3004 to Him, “Teacher 1320, do You not care 3199 that we are perishing 622?”

 4:39 And He got 1326 up and rebuked 2008 the wind 417 and said 3004 to the sea 2281, “Hush 4623, be still 5392.” And the wind 417 died 2869 down 2869 and it became 1096 perfectly 3173 calm 1055.

 4:40 And He said 3004 to them, “Why 5101 are you afraid 1169? Do you still 3768 have 2192 no 3768 faith 4102?”

 4:41 They became very 3173 much 3173 afraid 5399 and said 3004 to one 240 another 240, “Who 5101 then 686 is this 3778, that even 2532 the wind 417 and the sea 2281 obey 5219 Him?”
