Job 38

1 God challengeth Job to answer. 4 God, by his mighty works, convinceth Job of ignorance, 31 and of imbecility.

 38:1 Then the LORD 3068 answered 6030a Job 347 out of the whirlwind 5591b and said 559,

 38:2 “Who 4310 is this 2088 that darkens 2821 counsel 6098 By words 4405 without 1097 knowledge 1847?

 38:3 “Now 4994 gird 247 up your loins 2504 like a man 1397, And I will ask 7592 you, and you instruct 3045 Me!

 38:4 “Where 375 were you when I laid 3245 the foundation 3245 of the earth 776? Tell 5046 [Me], if 518 you have 3045 understanding 998,

 38:5 Who 4310 set 7760 its measurements 4461? Since 3588 you know 3045. Or 176 who 4310 stretched 5186 the line 6957b on it?

 38:6 “On what 4100 were its bases 134 sunk 2883? Or 176 who 4310 laid 3384 its cornerstone 68 6438,

 38:7 When the morning 1242 stars 3556 sang 7442 together 3162 And all 3605 the sons 1121 of God 430 shouted 7321 for joy 7321?

 38:8 ¶ “Or [who] enclosed 5480b the sea 3220 with doors 1817 When, bursting 1518 forth 1518, it went 3318 out from the womb 7358;

 38:9 When I made 7760 a cloud 6051 its garment 3830 And thick 6205 darkness 6205 its swaddling 2854 band 2854,

 38:10 And I placed 7665 boundaries 2706 on it And set 7760 a bolt 1280 and doors 1817,

 38:11 And I said 559, ‘Thus 6311 far 5704 you shall come 935, but no 3808 farther 3254; And here 6311 shall your proud 1347b waves 1530 stop 7896’?

 38:12 ¶ “Have you ever 4480 3117 in your life 4480 3117 commanded 6680 the morning 1242, [And] caused the dawn 7837 to know 3045 its place 4725,

 38:13 That it might take 270 hold 270 of the ends 3671 of the earth 776, And the wicked 7563 be shaken 5287 out of it?

 38:14 “It is changed 2015 like clay 2563a [under] the seal 2368; And they stand 3320 forth 3320 like 3644 a garment 3830.

 38:15 “From the wicked 7563 their light 216 is withheld 4513, And the uplifted 7311 arm 2220 is broken 7665.

 38:16 ¶ “Have you entered 935 into the springs 5033 of the sea 3220 Or walked 1980 in the recesses 2714 of the deep 8415?

 38:17 “Have the gates 8179 of death 4194 been revealed 1540 to you, Or have you seen 7200 the gates 8179 of deep 6757 darkness 6757?

 38:18 “Have you understood 995 the expanse 7338 of the earth 776? Tell 5046 [Me], if 518 you know 3045 all 3605 this.

 38:19 ¶ “Where 335 is the way 1870 to the dwelling 7931 of light 216? And darkness 2822, where 335 is its place 4725,

 38:20 That you may take 3947 it to its territory 1366 And that you may discern 995 the paths 5410b to its home 1004?

 38:21 “You know 3045, for you were born 3205 then 227, And the number 4557 of your days 3117 is great 7227a!

 38:22 “Have you entered 935 the storehouses 214 of the snow 7950, Or have you seen 7200 the storehouses 214 of the hail 1259,

 38:23 Which 834 I have reserved 2820 for the time 6256 of distress 6862b, For the day 3117 of war 7128 and battle 4421?

 38:24 “Where 335 is the way 1870 that the light 216 is divided 2505a, [Or] the east 6921 wind 6921 scattered 6327a on the earth 776?

 38:25 ¶ “Who 4310 has cleft 6385 a channel 8585a for the flood 7858, Or a way 1870 for the thunderbolt 6963 2385,

 38:26 To bring 4305 rain 4305 on a land 776 without 3808 people 376, [On] a desert 4057b without 3808 a man 120 in it,

 38:27 To satisfy 7646 the waste 7724b and desolate 4875 land And to make the seeds 4161 of grass 1877 to sprout 6779?

 38:28 “Has 3426 the rain 4306 a father 1? Or 176 who 4310 has begotten 3205 the drops 96 of dew 2919?

 38:29 “From whose 4310 womb 990 has come 3318 the ice 7140? And the frost 3713b of heaven 8064, who 4310 has given 3205 it birth 3205?

 38:30 “Water 4325 becomes 2244 hard 2244 like stone 68, And the surface 6440 of the deep 8415 is imprisoned 3920.

 38:31 ¶ “Can you bind 7194 the chains 4575a of the Pleiades 3598, Or 176 loose 6605a the cords 4189 of Orion 3685?

 38:32 “Can you lead 3318 forth 3318 a constellation 4216 in its season 6256, And guide 5148 the Bear 5906 with her satellites 1121?

 38:33 “Do you know 3045 the ordinances 2708 of the heavens 8064, Or 518 fix 7760 their rule 4896 over the earth 776?

 38:34 ¶ “Can you lift 7311 up your voice 6963 to the clouds 5645, So that an abundance 8229 of water 4325 will cover 3680 you?

 38:35 “Can you send 7971 forth lightnings 1300 that they may go 1980 And say 559 to you, ‘Here 2009 we are’?

 38:36 “Who 4310 has put 7896 wisdom 2451 in the innermost 2910 being 2910 Or 176 given 5414 understanding 998 to the mind 7907?

 38:37 “Who 4310 can count 5608 the clouds 7834 by wisdom 2451, Or tip 7901 the water 5035a jars 5035a of the heavens 8064,

 38:38 When the dust 6083 hardens 3332 into a mass 4165 And the clods 7263 stick 1692 together 1692?

 38:39 ¶ “Can you hunt 6679 the prey 2964 for the lion 3833b, Or satisfy 4390 the appetite 2421b of the young 3715 lions 3715,

 38:40 When 3588 they crouch 7817 in [their] dens 4585 [And] lie 695 in wait 695 in [their] lair 5521?

 38:41 “Who 4310 prepares 3559 for the raven 6158 its nourishment 6718b When 3588 its young 3206 cry 7768 to God 410 And wander 8582 about without 1097 food 400?
