Job 21

1 Job sheweth that even in the judgment of man he hath reason to be grieved. 7 Sometimes the wicked do so prosper, and they despise God. 16 Sometimes their destruction is manifest. 22 The happy and unhappy are alike in death. 27 The judgment of the wicked is in another world.

 21:1 Then Job 347 answered 6030a,

 21:2 “Listen 8085 carefully 8085 to my speech 4405, And let this 384 be your [way of] consolation 8575.

 21:3 “Bear 5375 with me that I may speak 1696; Then after 310 I have spoken 1696, you may mock 3932.

 21:4 “As for me, is my complaint 7879 to man 120? And why 4069 should I not be impatient 7114a?

 21:5 “Look 6437 at me, and be astonished 8074, And put 7760 [your] hand 3027 over 5921 [your] mouth 6310.

 21:6 “Even when 518 I remember 2142, I am disturbed 926, And horror 6427 takes 270 hold 270 of my flesh 1320.

 21:7 “Why 4069 do the wicked 7563 [still] live 2421a, Continue 6275 on, also 1571 become 1396 very 2428 powerful 2428?

 21:8 “Their descendants 2233 are established 3559 with them in their sight 6440, And their offspring 6631 before their eyes 5869,

 21:9 Their houses 1004 are safe 7965 from fear 6343, And the rod 7626 of God 433 is not on them.

 21:10 “His ox 7794 mates 5674a without 3808 fail 1602; His cow 6510 calves 6403 and does not abort 7921.

 21:11 “They send 7971 forth their little 5759 ones 5759 like the flock 6629, And their children 3206 skip 7540 about 7540.

 21:12 “They sing 5375 to the timbrel 8596 and harp 3658 And rejoice 8055 at the sound 6963 of the flute 5748.

 21:13 “They spend 1086 their days 3117 in prosperity 2896b, And suddenly 7281 they go 5181 down 5181 to Sheol 7585.

 21:14 “They say 559 to God 410, ‘Depart 5493 from us! We do not even desire 2654a the knowledge 1847 of Your ways 1870.

 21:15 ‘Who 4100 is the Almighty 7706b, that we should serve 5647 Him, And what 4100 would we gain 3276 if 3588 we entreat 6293 Him?’

 21:16 “Behold 2005, their prosperity 2898 is not in their hand 3027; The counsel 6098 of the wicked 7563 is far 7368 from me.

 21:17 ¶ “How 4100 often 4100 is the lamp 5216 of the wicked 7563 put 1846 out, Or does their calamity 343 fall 935 on them? Does God apportion 2505a destruction 2256b in His anger 639?

 21:18 “Are they as straw 8401 before 6440 the wind 7307, And like chaff 4671b which the storm 5492a carries 1589 away 1589?

 21:19 “[You say], ‘God 433 stores 6845 away 6845 a man’s iniquity 205 for his sons 1121.’ Let God repay 7999a him so that he may know 3045 [it].

 21:20 “Let his own eyes 5869 see 7200 his decay 3589, And let him drink 8354 of the wrath 2534 of the Almighty 7706b.

 21:21 “For what 4100 does he care 2656 for his household 1004 after 310 him, When the number 4557 of his months 2320 is cut 2686a off 2686a?

 21:22 “Can anyone teach 3925 God 410 knowledge 1847, In that He judges 8199 those on high 7311?

 21:23 “One 2088 dies 4191 in his full 8537 strength 6106, Being wholly 3605 at ease 7600 and satisfied 7961;

 21:24 His sides 5845 are filled 4390 out with fat 2459, And the marrow 4221 of his bones 6106 is moist 8248,

 21:25 While another 2088 dies 4191 with a bitter 4751 soul 5315, Never 3808 even tasting 398 [anything] good 2899b.

 21:26 “Together 3162 they lie 7901 down 7901 in the dust 6083, And worms 7415 cover 3680 them.

 21:27 ¶ “Behold 2005, I know 3045 your thoughts 4284, And the plans 4209 by which you would wrong 2554 me.

 21:28 “For you say 559, ‘Where 346 is the house 1004 of the nobleman 5081, And where 346 is the tent 168, the dwelling 4908 places 4908 of the wicked 7563?’

 21:29 “Have you not asked 7592 wayfaring 5674a men, And do you not recognize 5234 their witness 226?

 21:30 “For the wicked 7451a is reserved 2820 for the day 3117 of calamity 343; They will be led 2986 forth 2986 at the day 3117 of fury 5678.

 21:31 “Who 4310 will confront 5046 5921 6440 him with his actions 1870, And who 4310 will repay 7999a him for what he has done 6213a?

 21:32 “While he is carried 2986 to the grave 6913, [Men] will keep 8245 watch 8245 over 5921 [his] tomb 1430b.

 21:33 “The clods 7263 of the valley 5158a will gently 4985 cover 4985 him; Moreover, all 3605 men 120 will follow 4900 after 310 him, While countless 369 4557 ones [go] before 6440 him.

 21:34 “How 349 then will you vainly 1892 comfort 5162 me, For your answers 8666 remain 7604 [full of] falsehood 4604?”
