 40:1 ¶
Moreover
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
answeredººº
´Iyyôv
אִיּוֹב,º
and said,ºº |
|
 40:1 ¶
Moreover Yahweh answered Iyyov, and said, |
 40:2
Shall he that contendethºº
withº
Šadday
שַׁדַּיº
instructº
[him]? he that reprovethºº
´Élôåh
אֱלוֹהַ,º
let him answerºº
it. |
 40:2
Shall he that contendeth with Shadday instruct [him]? he that reproveth Eloah, let him answer it. |
 40:3 ¶
Then
´Iyyôv
אִיּוֹבº
answeredººº
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,º
and said,ºº |
 40:3 ¶
Then Iyyov answered Yahweh, and said, |
 40:4
Behold,º
I am vile;ºº
whatº
shall I answerºº
thee? I will layºº
mine handº
uponº
my mouth.º |
 40:4
Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth. |
 40:5
Onceº
have I spoken;ºº
but I will notº
answer:ºº
yea, twice;º
but I will proceed no further.ººº |
 40:5
Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further. |
 40:6 ¶
Then answeredºº
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
untoº
´Iyyôv
אִיּוֹבº
out ofº
the whirlwind,º
and said,ºº |
 40:6 ¶
Then answered Yahweh unto Iyyov out of the whirlwind, and said, |
 40:7
Gird upºº
thy loinsº
nowº
like a man:º
I will demandºº
of thee, and declareºº
thou unto me. |
 40:7
Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me. |
 40:8
Wilt thou alsoº
disannulºº
my judgment?º
wilt thou condemnºº
me, thatº
thou mayest be righteous?ºº |
 40:8
Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous? |
 40:9
Hast thou an armº
like
´Ël
אֵל?º
or canst thou thunderºº
with a voiceº
like him?º |
 40:9
Hast thou an arm like El? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him? |
 40:10
Deckºº
thyself nowº
[with] majestyº
and excellency;º
and arrayºº
thyself with gloryº
and beauty.º |
 40:10
Deck thyself now [with] majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty. |
 40:11
Cast abroadºº
the rageº
of thy wrath:º
and beholdºº
every oneº
[that is] proud,º
and abaseºº
him. |
 40:11
Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one [that is] proud, and abase him. |
 40:12
Lookºº
onº
every oneº
[that is] proud,º
[and] bring him low;ºº
and tread downºº
the wickedº
in their place.º |
 40:12
Look on every one [that is] proud, [and] bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place. |
 40:13
Hideºº
them in the dustº
together;º
[and] bindºº
their facesº
in secret.ºº |
 40:13
Hide them in the dust together; [and] bind their faces in secret. |
 40:14
Then will Iº
alsoº
confessºº
unto thee thatº
thine own right handº
can saveºº
thee. |
 40:14
Then will I also confess unto thee that thine own right hand can save thee. |
 40:15 ¶
Beholdº
nowº
behemoth,º
whichº
I madeºº
withº
thee; he eatethºº
grassº
as an ox.º |
 40:15 ¶
Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox. |
 40:16
Loº
now,º
his strengthº
[is] in his loins,º
and his forceº
[is] in the navelº
of his belly.º |
 40:16
Lo now, his strength [is] in his loins, and his force [is] in the navel of his belly. |
 40:17
He movethºº
his tailº
likeº
a cedar:º
the sinewsº
of his stonesº
are wrapped together.ºº |
 40:17
He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together. |
 40:18
His bonesº
[are as] strongº
piecesº
of brass;º
his bonesº
[are] like barsº
of iron.º |
 40:18
His bones [are as] strong pieces of brass; his bones [are] like bars of iron. |
 40:19
Heº
[is] the chiefº
of the waysº
of
´Ël
אֵל:º
he that madeºº
him can makeºº
his swordº
to approachºº
[unto him]. |
 40:19
He [is] the chief of the ways of El: he that made him can make his sword to approach [unto him]. |
 40:20
Surelyº
the mountainsº
bring him forthºº
food,º
whereº
allº
the beastsº
of the fieldº
play.ºº |
 40:20
Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play. |
 40:21
He liethºº
underº
the shady trees,º
in the covertº
of the reed,º
and fens.º |
 40:21
He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens. |
 40:22
The shady treesº
coverºº
him [with] their shadow;º
the willowsº
of the brookº
compass him about.ºº |
 40:22
The shady trees cover him [with] their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about. |
 40:23
Behold,º
he drinketh upºº
a river,º
[and] hastethºº
not:º
he trustethºº
thatº
he can draw upºº
Yardën
יַרדֵּןº
intoº
his mouth.º |
 40:23
Behold, he drinketh up a river, [and] hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Yarden into his mouth. |
 40:24
He takethºº
it with his eyes:º
[his] noseº
piercethº
throughºº
snares.º |
 40:24
He taketh it with his eyes: [his] nose pierceth through snares. |
