 38:1 ¶ And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

 38:1 ¶ And the wordº of the LORDº cameº unto me,º saying,ºº

 38:2 Son of man, set thy face toward Gog, of the land of Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal, and prophesy against him,

 38:2 Sonº of man,º setºº thy faceº againstº Gog,º the landº of Magog,º the chiefº princeº of Meshechº and Tubal,º and prophesyºº againstº him,

 38:3 and say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal:

 38:3 And say,ºº Thusº saithºº the Lordº GOD;º Behold,º I [am] againstº thee, O Gog,º the chiefº princeº of Meshechº and Tubal:º

 38:4 and I will turn thee about, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed in full armor, a great company with buckler and shield, all of them handling swords;

 38:4 And I will turn thee back,ºº and putºº hooksº into thy jaws,º and I will bring thee forth,ººº and allº thine army,º horsesº and horsemen,º allº of them clothedºº with all sortsº [of armour, even] a greatº companyº [with] bucklersº and shields,º allº of them handlingºº swords:º

 38:5 Persia, Cush, and Put with them, all of them with shield and helmet;

 38:5 Persia,º Ethiopia,º and Libyaº withº them; allº of them with shieldº and helmet:º

 38:6 Gomer, and all his hordes; the house of Togarmah in the uttermost parts of the north, and all his hordes; even many peoples with thee.

 38:6 Gomer,º and allº his bands;º the houseº of Togarmahº of the northº quarters,º and allº his bands:º [and] manyº peopleº withº thee.

 38:7 Be thou prepared, yea, prepare thyself, thou, and all thy companies that are assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto them.

 38:7 Be thou prepared,ºº and prepareºº for thyself, thou,º and allº thy companyº that are assembledºº untoº thee, and beº thou a guardº unto them.

 38:8 ¶ After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, that is gathered out of many peoples, upon the mountains of Israel, which have been a continual waste; but it is brought forth out of the peoples, and they shall dwell securely, all of them.

 38:8 ¶ After manyº daysºº thou shalt be visited:ºº in the latterº yearsº thou shalt comeºº intoº the landº [that is] brought backºº from the sword,ºº [and is] gatheredºº out of manyº people,ºº againstº the mountainsº of Israel,º whichº have beenº alwaysº waste:º but itº is brought forthºº out of the nations,ºº and they shall dwellºº safelyº allº of them.

 38:9 And thou shalt ascend, thou shalt come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy hordes, and many peoples with thee.

 38:9 Thou shalt ascendºº and comeºº like a storm,º thou shalt beº like a cloudº to coverºº the land,º thou,º and allº thy bands,º and manyº peopleº withº thee.

 38:10 Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: It shall come to pass in that day, that things shall come into thy mind, and thou shalt devise an evil device:

 38:10 Thusº saithºº the Lordº GOD;º It shall also come to pass,º [that] at the sameº timeº shall thingsº comeºº intoº thy mind,º and thou shalt thinkºº an evilº thought:º

 38:11 and thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell securely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates;

 38:11 And thou shalt say,ºº I will go upºº toº the landº of unwalled villages;º I will goºº to them that are at rest,ºº that dwellºº safely,º allº of them dwellingºº withoutº walls,º and having neitherº barsº nor gates,º

 38:12 to take the spoil and to take the prey; to turn thy hand against the waste places that are [now] inhabited, and against the people that are gathered out of the nations, that have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the middle of the earth.

 38:12 To takeºº a spoil,º and to takeºº a prey;º to turnºº thine handº uponº the desolate placesº [that are now] inhabited,ºº and uponº the peopleº [that are] gatheredºº out of the nations,ºº which have gottenºº cattleº and goods,º that dwellºº inº the midstº of the land.º

 38:13 Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take the spoil? hast thou assembled thy company to take the prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take great spoil?

 38:13 Sheba,º and Dedan,º and the merchantsºº of Tarshish,º with allº the young lionsº thereof, shall sayºº unto thee, Art thouº comeºº to takeºº a spoil?º hast thou gatheredºº thy companyº to takeºº a prey?º to carry awayºº silverº and gold,º to take awayºº cattleº and goods,º to takeºº a greatº spoil?º

 38:14 ¶ Therefore, son of man, prophesy, and say unto Gog, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: In that day when my people Israel dwelleth securely, shalt thou not know it?

 38:14 ¶ Therefore,º sonº of man,º prophesyºº and sayºº unto Gog,º Thusº saithºº the Lordº GOD;º In thatº dayº when my peopleº of Israelº dwellethºº safely,º shalt thou notº knowºº [it]?

 38:15 And thou shalt come from thy place out of the uttermost parts of the north, thou, and many peoples with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great company and a mighty army;

 38:15 And thou shalt comeºº from thy placeºº out of the northº parts,ºº thou,º and manyº peopleº withº thee, allº of them ridingºº upon horses,º a greatº company,º and a mightyº army:º

 38:16 and thou shalt come up against my people Israel, as a cloud to cover the land: it shall come to pass in the latter days, that I will bring thee against my land, that the nations may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes.

 38:16 And thou shalt come upºº againstº my peopleº of Israel,º as a cloudº to coverºº the land;º it shall beº in the latterº days,º and I will bringºº thee againstº my land,º thatº the heathenº may knowºº me, when I shall be sanctifiedºº in thee, O Gog,º before their eyes.º

 38:17 Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Art thou he of whom I spake in old time by my servants the prophets of Israel, that prophesied in those days for [many] years that I would bring thee against them?

 38:17 Thusº saithºº the Lordº GOD;º [Art] thouº heº of whomº I have spokenºº in oldº timeº byº my servantsº the prophetsº of Israel,º which prophesiedºº in thoseº daysº [many] yearsº that I would bringºº thee againstº them?

 38:18 And it shall come to pass in that day, when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord Jehovah, that my wrath shall come up into my nostrils.

 38:18 And it shall come to passº at the sameº timeº whenº Gogº shall comeºº againstº the landº of Israel,º saithºº the Lordº GOD,º [that] my furyº shall come upºº in my face.º

 38:19 For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken, Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel;

 38:19 For in my jealousyº [and] in the fireº of my wrathº have I spoken,ºº Surelyºº in thatº dayº there shall beº a greatº shakingº inº the landº of Israel;º

 38:20 so that the fishes of the sea, and the birds of the heavens, and the beasts of the field, and all creeping things that creep upon the earth, and all the men that are upon the face of the earth, shall shake at my presence, and the mountains shall be thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground.

 38:20 So that the fishesº of the sea,º and the fowlsº of the heaven,º and the beastsº of the field,º and allº creeping thingsº that creepºº uponº the earth,º and allº the menº thatº [are] uponº the faceº of the earth,º shall shakeºº at my presence,ºº and the mountainsº shall be thrown down,ºº and the steep placesº shall fall,ºº and everyº wallº shall fallºº to the ground.º

 38:21 And I will call for a sword against him unto all my mountains, saith the Lord Jehovah: every man's sword shall be against his brother.

 38:21 And I will callºº forº a swordº againstº him throughout allº my mountains,º saithºº the Lordº GOD:º every man'sº swordº shall beº against his brother.º

 38:22 And with pestilence and with blood will I enter into judgment with him; and I will rain upon him, and upon his hordes, and upon the many peoples that are with him, an overflowing shower, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone.

 38:22 And I will pleadºº againstº him with pestilenceº and with blood;º and I will rainºº uponº him, and uponº his bands,º and uponº the manyº peopleº thatº [are] withº him, an overflowingºº rain,º and great hailstones,ºº fire,º and brimstone.º

 38:23 And I will magnify myself, and sanctify myself, and I will make myself known in the eyes of many nations; and they shall know that I am Jehovah.

 38:23 Thus will I magnifyºº myself,º and sanctifyºº myself;º and I will be knownºº in the eyesº of manyº nations,º and they shall knowºº thatº Iº [am] the LORD.º
