 21:1 ¶ And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

 21:1 ¶ And the wordº of the LORDº cameº untoº me, saying,ºº

 21:2 Son of man, set thy face toward Jerusalem, and drop [thy word] toward the sanctuaries, and prophesy against the land of Israel;

 21:2 Sonº of man,º setºº thy faceº towardº Jerusalem,º and dropºº [thy word] towardº the holy places,º and prophesyºº againstº the landº of Israel,º

 21:3 and say to the land of Israel, Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I am against thee, and will draw forth my sword out of its sheath, and will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked.

 21:3 And sayºº to the landº of Israel,º Thusº saithºº the LORD;º Behold,º I [am] againstº thee, and will draw forthºº my swordº out of his sheath,ºº and will cut offºº fromº thee the righteousº and the wicked.º

 21:4 Seeing then that I will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked, therefore shall my sword go forth out of its sheath against all flesh from the south to the north:

 21:4 Seeingº thenº thatº I will cut offºº fromº thee the righteousº and the wicked,º thereforeº shall my swordº go forthºº out of his sheathºº againstº allº fleshº from the southºº to the north:º

 21:5 and all flesh shall know that I, Jehovah, have drawn forth my sword out of its sheath; it shall not return any more.

 21:5 That allº fleshº may knowºº thatº Iº the LORDº have drawn forthºº my swordº out of his sheath:ºº it shall notº returnºº any more.º

 21:6 Sigh therefore, thou son of man; with the breaking of thy loins and with bitterness shalt thou sigh before their eyes.

 21:6 Sighºº therefore, thouº sonº of man,º with the breakingº of [thy] loins;º and with bitternessº sighºº before their eyes.º

 21:7 And it shall be, when they say unto thee, Wherefore sighest thou? that thou shalt say, Because of the tidings, for it cometh; and every heart shall melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall faint, and all knees shall be weak as water: behold, it cometh, and it shall be done, saith the Lord Jehovah.

 21:7 And it shall be,º whenº they sayºº untoº thee, Whereforeºº sighestºº thou?º that thou shalt answer,ºº Forº the tidings;º becauseº it cometh:ºº and everyº heartº shall melt,ºº and allº handsº shall be feeble,ºº and everyº spiritº shall faint,ºº and allº kneesº shall be weakººº [as] water:º behold,º it cometh,ºº and shall be brought to pass,ºº saithºº the Lordº GOD.º

 21:8 ¶ And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

 21:8 ¶ Again the wordº of the LORDº cameº untoº me, saying,ºº

 21:9 Son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus saith Jehovah: Say, A sword, a sword, it is sharpened, and also furbished;

 21:9 Sonº of man,º prophesy,ºº and say,ºº Thusº saithºº the LORD;ºº Say,ºº A sword,º a swordº is sharpened,ºº and alsoº furbished:ºº

 21:10 it is sharpened that it may make a slaughter; it is furbished that it may be as lightning: shall we then make mirth? the rod of my son, it contemneth every tree.

 21:10 It is sharpenedºº toº make a soreº slaughter;ººº it is furbishedººº thatº it may glitter:ºº shouldº we thenº make mirth?ºº it contemnethºº the rodº of my son,º [as] everyº tree.º

 21:11 And it is given to be furbished, that it may be handled: the sword, it is sharpened, yea, it is furbished, to give it into the hand of the slayer.

 21:11 And he hath givenºº it to be furbished,ºº that it may be handled:ººº thisº swordº is sharpened,ºº and itº is furbished,ººº to giveºº it into the handº of the slayer.ºº

 21:12 Cry and wail, son of man; for it is upon my people, it is upon all the princes of Israel: they are delivered over to the sword with my people; smite therefore upon thy thigh.

 21:12 Cryºº and howl,ºº sonº of man:º forº itº shall beº upon my people,º itº [shall be] upon allº the princesº of Israel:º terrorsºº by reason ofº the swordº shall beº uponº my people:º smiteºº thereforeº uponº [thy] thigh.º

 21:13 For there is a trial; and what if even the rod that contemneth shall be no more? saith the Lord Jehovah.

 21:13 Becauseº [it is] a trial,ºº and whatº ifº [the sword] contemnºº evenº the rod?º it shall beº noº [more], saithºº the Lordº GOD.º

 21:14 Thou therefore, son of man, prophesy, and smite thy hands together; and let the sword be doubled the third time, the sword of the deadly wounded: it is the sword of the great one that is deadly wounded, which entereth into their chambers.

 21:14 Thouº therefore, sonº of man,º prophesy,ºº and smiteºº [thine] handsº together,ºººº and let the swordº be doubledºº the thirdº time,º the swordº of the slain:º itº [is] the swordº of the greatº [men that are] slain,º which entereth into their privy chambers.ºº

 21:15 I have set the threatening sword against all their gates, that their heart may melt, and their stumblings be multiplied: ah! it is made as lightning, it is pointed for slaughter.

 21:15 I have setºº the pointº of the swordº againstº allº their gates,º thatº [their] heartº may faint,ºº and [their] ruinsº be multiplied:ºº ah!º [it is] madeºº bright,ºº [it is] wrapped upº for the slaughter.º

 21:16 Gather thee together, go to the right, set thyself in array, go to the left, whithersoever thy face is set.

 21:16 Go thee one way or other,ºº [either] onºº the right hand,ºº [or] on the left,ºº whithersoeverº thy faceº [is] set.ºº

 21:17 I will also smite my hands together, and I will cause my wrath to rest: I, Jehovah, have spoken it.

 21:17 Iº will alsoº smiteºº mine handsº together,ºº and I will cause my furyº to rest:ºº Iº the LORDº have saidºº [it].

 21:18 ¶ The word of Jehovah came unto me again, saying,

 21:18 ¶ The wordº of the LORDº cameº untoº me again, saying,ºº

 21:19 Also, thou son of man, appoint thee two ways, that the sword of the king of Babylon may come; they twain shall come forth out of one land: and mark out a place, mark it out at the head of the way to the city.

 21:19 Also, thouº sonº of man,º appointºº thee twoº ways,º that the swordº of the kingº of Babylonº may come:ºº both twainº shall come forthºº out of oneº land:ººº and chooseºº thou a place,º chooseºº [it] at the headº of the wayº to the city.º

 21:20 Thou shalt appoint a way for the sword to come to Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and to Judah in Jerusalem the fortified.

 21:20 Appointºº a way,º that the swordº may comeºº toº Rabbathº of the Ammonites,ºº and toº Judahº in Jerusalemº the defenced.ºº

 21:21 For the king of Babylon stood at the parting of the way, at the head of the two ways, to use divination: he shook the arrows to and fro, he consulted the teraphim, he looked in the liver.

 21:21 Forº the kingº of Babylonº stoodºº atº the partingº of the way,º at the headº of the twoº ways,º to useºº divination:º he made [his] arrowsº bright,ººº he consultedºº with images,º he lookedºº in the liver.º

 21:22 In his right hand was the divination [for] Jerusalem, to set battering rams, to open the mouth in the slaughter, to lift up the voice with shouting, to set battering rams against the gates, to cast up mounds, to build forts.

 21:22 At his right handº wasº the divinationº for Jerusalem,º to appointºº captains,º to openºº the mouthº in the slaughter,º to lift upºº the voiceº with shouting,º to appointºº [battering] ramsº againstº the gates,º to castºº a mount,º [and] to buildºº a fort.º

 21:23 And it shall be unto them as a false divination in their sight, who have sworn oaths unto them; but he bringeth iniquity to remembrance, that they may be taken.

 21:23 And it shall beº unto them as a falseº divinationºº in their sight,º to them that have swornºº oaths:º but heº will call to remembranceºº the iniquity,º that they may be taken.ºº

 21:24 Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because ye have made your iniquity to be remembered, in that your transgressions are uncovered, so that in all your doings your sins do appear; because that ye are come to remembrance, ye shall be taken with the hand.

 21:24 Thereforeº thusº saithºº the Lordº GOD;º Becauseº ye have made your iniquityº to be remembered,ºº in that your transgressionsº are discovered,ºº so that in allº your doingsº your sinsº do appear;ºº because,º [I say], that ye are come to remembrance,ºº ye shall be takenºº with the hand.º

 21:25 ¶ And thou, O deadly wounded wicked one, the prince of Israel, whose day is come, in the time of the iniquity of the end,

 21:25 ¶ And thou,º profaneº wickedº princeº of Israel,º whoseº dayº is come,ºº whenº iniquityº [shall have] an end,º

 21:26 thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Remove the mitre, and take off the crown; this [shall be] no more the same; exalt that which is low, and abase that which is high.

 21:26 Thusº saithºº the Lordº GOD;º Removeºº the diadem,º and take offºº the crown:º thisº [shall] notº [be] the same:º exaltºº [him that is] low,º and abaseºº [him that is] high.º

 21:27 I will overturn, overturn, overturn it: this also shall be no more, until he come whose right it is; and I will give it [him].

 21:27 I willº overturn,º overturn,º overturn,º it: andº itº shall beººº noº [more], untilº he comeºº whoseº rightº it is; and I will giveºº it [him].

 21:28 ¶ And thou, son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah concerning the children of Ammon, and concerning their reproach; and say thou, A sword, a sword is drawn, for the slaughter it is furbished, to cause it to devour, that it may be as lightning;

 21:28 ¶ And thou,º sonº of man,º prophesyºº and say,ºº Thusº saithºº the Lordº GODº concerningº the Ammonites,ºº and concerningº their reproach;º even sayºº thou, The sword,º the swordº [is] drawn:ºº for the slaughterº [it is] furbished,ºº to consumeººº because ofº the glittering:º

 21:29 while they see for thee false visions, while they divine lies unto thee, to lay thee upon the necks of the wicked that are deadly wounded, whose day is come in the time of the iniquity of the end.

 21:29 Whiles they seeºº vanityº unto thee, whiles they divineºº a lieº unto thee, to bringºº thee uponº the necksº of [them that are] slain,º of the wicked,º whoseº dayºº is come,ºº whenº their iniquityº [shall have] an end.º

 21:30 Cause it to return into its sheath. In the place where thou wast created, in the land of thy birth, will I judge thee.

 21:30 Shall I cause [it] to returnºº intoº his sheath?º I will judgeºº thee in the placeº whereº thou wast created,ºº in the landº of thy nativity.º

 21:31 And I will pour out mine indignation upon thee; I will blow upon thee with the fire of my wrath; and I will deliver thee into the hand of brutish men, skilful to destroy.

 21:31 And I will pour outºº mine indignationº uponº thee, I will blowºº againstº thee in the fireº of my wrath,º and deliverºº thee into the handº of brutishºº men,ºº [and] skilfulº to destroy.º

 21:32 Thou shalt be for fuel to the fire; thy blood shall be in the midst of the land; thou shalt be no more remembered: for I, Jehovah, have spoken it.

 21:32 Thou shalt beº for fuelº to the fire;º thy bloodº shall beº in the midstº of the land;º thou shalt be noº [more] remembered:ºº forº Iº the LORDº have spokenºº [it].
