11:1 ¶
Also I in the first year of Daryawesh the Madi, [even] I, stood to confirm and to strengthen him. |
|
11:2
And nowº
will I shewºº
thee the truth.º
Behold,º
there shall stand upºº
yetº
threeº
kingsº
in
Päras
פָּרַס;º
and the fourthº
shall be farº
richerºººº
than [they] all:ººº
and by his strengthº
through his richesº
he shall stir upºº
allº
againstº
the realmº
of
Yäwän
יָוָן.º |

11:2
And now will I shew thee the truth. Behold, there shall stand up yet three kings in Paras; and the fourth shall be far richer than [they] all: and by his strength through his riches he shall stir up all against the realm of Yawan. |
|
11:3
And a mightyº
kingº
shall stand up,ºº
that shall ruleºº
with greatº
dominion,º
and doºº
according to his will.º |
|
11:3
And a mighty king shall stand up, that shall rule with great dominion, and do according to his will. |
|
11:4
And when he shall stand up,ºº
his kingdomº
shall be broken,ºº
and shall be dividedºº
toward the fourº
windsº
of heaven;º
and notº
to his posterity,º
norº
according to his dominionº
whichº
he ruled:ºº
forº
his kingdomº
shall be plucked up,ºº
even for othersº
besideºº
those.º |

11:4
And when he shall stand up, his kingdom shall be broken, and shall be divided toward the four winds of heaven; and not to his posterity, nor according to his dominion which he ruled: for his kingdom shall be plucked up, even for others beside those. |
|
11:5 ¶
And the kingº
of the southº
shall be strong,ºº
and [one] ofº
his princes;º
and he shall be strongºº
aboveº
him, and have dominion;ºº
his dominionºº
[shall be] a greatº
dominion.º |
|
11:5 ¶
And the king of the south shall be strong, and [one] of his princes; and he shall be strong above him, and have dominion; his dominion [shall be] a great dominion. |
|
11:6
And in the endº
of yearsº
they shall join themselves together;ºº
for the king'sº
daughterº
of the southº
shall comeºº
toº
the kingº
of the northº
to makeºº
an agreement:º
but she shall notº
retainºº
the powerº
of the arm;º
neitherº
shall he stand,ºº
nor his arm:º
but sheº
shall be given up,ºº
and they that broughtºº
her, and he that begatºº
her, and he that strengthenedºº
her in [these] times.º |

11:6
And in the end of years they shall join themselves together; for the king's daughter of the south shall come to the king of the north to make an agreement: but she shall not retain the power of the arm; neither shall he stand, nor his arm: but she shall be given up, and they that brought her, and he that begat her, and he that strengthened her in [these] times. |
|
11:7
But out of a branchºº
of her rootsº
shall [one] stand upºº
in his estate,º
which shall comeºº
withº
an army,º
and shall enterºº
into the fortressº
of the kingº
of the north,º
and shall dealºº
against them, and shall prevail:ºº |

But out of a branch of her roots shall [one] stand up in his estate, which shall come with an army, and shall enter into the fortress of the king of the north, and shall deal against them, and shall prevail: |

11:8
And shall alsoº
carryºº
captivesº
into
Mixrayim
מִצרַיִםº
their
´élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים,º
withº
their princes,º
[and] withº
their preciousº
vesselsº
of silverº
and of gold;º
and heº
shall continueºº
[more] yearsº
than the kingºº
of the north.º |

11:8
And shall also carry captives into Mitzrayim their elohim, with their princes, [and] with their precious vessels of silver and of gold; and he shall continue [more] years than the king of the north. |
|
11:9
So the kingº
of the southº
shall comeºº
into [his] kingdom,º
and shall returnºº
intoº
his own land.º |
|
11:9
So the king of the south shall come into [his] kingdom, and shall return into his own land. |
|
11:10
But his sonsº
shall be stirred up,ºº
and shall assembleºº
a multitudeº
of greatº
forces:º
and [one] shall certainlyºº
come,ºº
and overflow,ºº
and pass through:ºº
then shall he return,ºº
and be stirred up,ºº
[even] toº
his fortress.º |

But his sons shall be stirred up, and shall assemble a multitude of great forces: and [one] shall certainly come, and overflow, and pass through: then shall he return, and be stirred up, [even] to his fortress. |
|
11:11
And the kingº
of the southº
shall be moved with choler,ºº
and shall come forthºº
and fightºº
withº
him, [even] withº
the kingº
of the north:º
and he shall set forthºº
a greatº
multitude;º
but the multitudeº
shall be givenºº
into his hand.º |
|
11:11
And the king of the south shall be moved with choler, and shall come forth and fight with him, [even] with the king of the north: and he shall set forth a great multitude; but the multitude shall be given into his hand. |
|
11:12
[And] when he hath taken awayºº
the multitude,º
his heartº
shall be lifted up;ºººº
and he shall cast downºº
[many] ten thousands:º
but he shall notº
be strengthenedºº
[by it]. |
|
11:12
[And] when he hath taken away the multitude, his heart shall be lifted up; and he shall cast down [many] ten thousands: but he shall not be strengthened [by it]. |
|
11:13
For the kingº
of the northº
shall return,ºº
and shall set forthºº
a multitudeº
greaterº
thanº
the former,º
and shall certainlyºº
comeºº
afterº
certainº
yearsº
with a greatº
armyº
and with muchº
riches.º |
|
11:13
For the king of the north shall return, and shall set forth a multitude greater than the former, and shall certainly come after certain years with a great army and with much riches. |
|
11:14
And in thoseº
timesº
there shall manyº
stand upºº
againstº
the kingº
of the south:º
also the robbersºº
of thy peopleº
shall exaltºº
themselvesº
to establishºº
the vision;º
but they shall fall.ºº |
|
11:14
And in those times there shall many stand up against the king of the south: also the robbers of thy people shall exalt themselves to establish the vision; but they shall fall. |
|
11:15
So the kingº
of the northº
shall come,ºº
and cast upºº
a mount,º
and takeºº
the most fencedº
cities:º
and the armsº
of the southº
shall notº
withstand,ºº
neither his chosenº
people,º
neitherº
[shall there be any] strengthº
to withstand.ºº |
|
11:15
So the king of the north shall come, and cast up a mount, and take the most fenced cities: and the arms of the south shall not withstand, neither his chosen people, neither [shall there be any] strength to withstand. |
|
11:16
But he that comethºº
againstº
him shall doºº
according to his own will,º
and noneº
shall standºº
beforeº
him: and he shall standºº
in the gloriousº
land,º
which by his handº
shall be consumed.ºº |
|
11:16
But he that cometh against him shall do according to his own will, and none shall stand before him: and he shall stand in the glorious land, which by his hand shall be consumed. |
|
11:17
He shall also setºº
his faceº
to enterºº
with the strengthº
of his wholeº
kingdom,º
and upright onesº
withº
him; thus shall he do:ºº
and he shall giveºº
him the daughterº
of women,º
corruptingºº
her: but she shall notº
standºº
[on his side], neitherº
beº
for him. |

11:17
He shall also set his face to enter with the strength of his whole kingdom, and upright ones with him; thus shall he do: and he shall give him the daughter of women, corrupting her: but she shall not stand [on his side], neither be for him. |
|
11:18
After this shall he turnººººº
his faceº
unto the isles,º
and shall takeºº
many:º
but a princeº
for his own behalf shall cause the reproachº
offered by him to cease;ºº
withoutº
his own reproachº
he shall cause [it] to turnºº
upon him. |
|
11:18
After this shall he turn his face unto the isles, and shall take many: but a prince for his own behalf shall cause the reproach offered by him to cease; without his own reproach he shall cause [it] to turn upon him. |
|
11:19
Then he shall turnºº
his faceº
toward the fortº
of his own land:º
but he shall stumbleºº
and fall,ºº
and notº
be found.ºº |

11:19
Then he shall turn his face toward the fort of his own land: but he shall stumble and fall, and not be found. |
|
11:20
Then shall stand upºº
inº
his estateº
a raiserºº
of taxesºº
[in] the gloryº
of the kingdom:º
but within fewº
daysº
he shall be destroyed,ºº
neitherº
in anger,º
norº
in battle.º |
|
11:20
Then shall stand up in his estate a raiser of taxes [in] the glory of the kingdom: but within few days he shall be destroyed, neither in anger, nor in battle. |
|
11:21
And inº
his estateº
shall stand upºº
a vile person,ºº
toº
whom they shall notº
giveºº
the honourº
of the kingdom:º
but he shall comeºº
inº
peaceably,º
and obtainºº
the kingdomº
by flatteries.º |
|
11:21
And in his estate shall stand up a vile person, to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries. |
|
11:22
And with the armsº
of a floodº
shall they be overflownºº
from beforeºº
him, and shall be broken;ºº
yea, alsoº
the princeº
of the covenant.º |
|
11:22
And with the arms of a flood shall they be overflown from before him, and shall be broken; yea, also the prince of the covenant. |
|
11:23
And afterº
the leagueºº
[made] withº
him he shall workºº
deceitfully:º
for he shall come up,ºº
and shall become strongºº
with a smallº
people.º |
|
11:23
And after the league [made] with him he shall work deceitfully: for he shall come up, and shall become strong with a small people. |
|
11:24
He shall enterºº
peaceablyº
even upon the fattest placesº
of the province;º
and he shall doºº
[that] whichº
his fathersº
have notº
done,ºº
nor his fathers'º
fathers;º
he shall scatterºº
among them the prey,º
and spoil,º
and riches:º
[yea], and he shall forecastºº
his devicesº
againstº
the strong holds,º
even forº
a time.º |

11:24
He shall enter peaceably even upon the fattest places of the province; and he shall do [that] which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers' fathers; he shall scatter among them the prey, and spoil, and riches: [yea], and he shall forecast his devices against the strong holds, even for a time. |
|
11:25
And he shall stir upºº
his powerº
and his courageº
againstº
the kingº
of the southº
with a greatº
army;º
and the kingº
of the southº
shall be stirred upºº
to battleº
with a veryºº
greatº
and mightyº
army;º
but he shall notº
stand:ºº
forº
they shall forecastºº
devicesº
againstº
him. |

11:25
And he shall stir up his power and his courage against the king of the south with a great army; and the king of the south shall be stirred up to battle with a very great and mighty army; but he shall not stand: for they shall forecast devices against him. |
|
11:26
Yea, they that feedºº
of the portion of his meatº
shall destroyºº
him, and his armyº
shall overflow:ºº
and manyº
shall fallºº
downº
slain.º |
|
11:26
Yea, they that feed of the portion of his meat shall destroy him, and his army shall overflow: and many shall fall down slain. |
|
11:27
And bothº
these kings'º
heartsº
[shall be] to do mischief,ººº
and they shall speakºº
liesº
atº
oneº
table;º
but it shall notº
prosper:ºº
forº
yetº
the endº
[shall be] at the time appointed.º |
|
11:27
And both these kings' hearts [shall be] to do mischief, and they shall speak lies at one table; but it shall not prosper: for yet the end [shall be] at the time appointed. |
|
11:28
Then shall he returnºº
into his landº
with greatº
riches;º
and his heartº
[shall be] againstº
the holyº
covenant;º
and he shall doºº
[exploits], and returnºº
to his own land.º |
|
11:28
Then shall he return into his land with great riches; and his heart [shall be] against the holy covenant; and he shall do [exploits], and return to his own land. |
|
11:29
At the time appointedº
he shall return,ºº
and comeºº
toward the south;º
but it shall notº
beº
as the former,º
or as the latter.º |
|
11:29
At the time appointed he shall return, and come toward the south; but it shall not be as the former, or as the latter. |
|
11:30 ¶
For the shipsº
of
Cittîm
כִּתִּיםº
shall comeºº
against him: therefore he shall be grieved,ºº
and return,ºº
and have indignationºº
againstº
the holyº
covenant:º
so shall he do;ºº
he shall even return,ºº
and have intelligenceºº
withº
them that forsakeºº
the holyº
covenant.º |

11:30 ¶
For the ships of Kittim shall come against him: therefore he shall be grieved, and return, and have indignation against the holy covenant: so shall he do; he shall even return, and have intelligence with them that forsake the holy covenant. |
|
11:31
And armsº
shall standºº
on his part,º
and they shall polluteºº
the sanctuaryº
of strength,º
and shall take awayºº
the dailyº
[sacrifice], and they shall placeºº
the abominationº
that maketh desolate.ºº |
|
11:31
And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily [sacrifice], and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate. |
|
11:32
And such as do wickedlyºº
againstº
the covenantº
shall he corruptºº
by flatteries:º
but the peopleº
that do knowºº
their
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִיםº
shall be strong,ºº
and doºº
[exploits]. |
|
11:32
And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their Elohim shall be strong, and do [exploits]. |
|
11:33
And they that understandºº
among the peopleº
shall instructºº
many:º
yet they shall fallºº
by the sword,º
and by flame,º
by captivity,º
and by spoil,º
[many] days.º |
|
11:33
And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, [many] days. |
|
11:34
Now when they shall fall,ºº
they shall be holpenºº
with a littleº
help:º
but manyº
shall cleaveºº
toº
them with flatteries.º |
|
11:34
Now when they shall fall, they shall be holpen with a little help: but many shall cleave to them with flatteries. |
|
11:35
And [some] ofº
them of understandingºº
shall fall,ºº
to tryºº
them, and to purge,ºº
and to make [them] white,ºº
[even] toº
the timeº
of the end:º
becauseº
[it is] yetº
for a time appointed.º |

And [some] of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make [them] white, [even] to the time of the end: because [it is] yet for a time appointed. |

11:36
And the kingº
shall doºº
according to his will;º
and he shall exaltºº
himself,º
and magnifyºº
himselfº
aboveº
everyº
´ël
אֵל,º
and shall speakºº
marvellous thingsºº
againstº
the
´Ël
אֵלº
of
´ëlîm
אֵלִים,º
and shall prosperºº
tillº
the indignationº
be accomplished:ºº
forº
that that is determinedºº
shall be done.ºº |

And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every el, and shall speak marvellous things against the El of elim, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done. |

11:37
Neither shall he regardºººº
the
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִיםº
of his fathers,º
nor the desireº
of women,º
nor regardºº
anyººº
´élôåh
אֱלוֹהַ:º
forº
he shall magnifyºº
himselfº
aboveº
all.º |

11:37
Neither shall he regard the Elohim of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any eloah: for he shall magnify himself above all. |
|
11:38
But inº
his estateº
shall he honourºº
the
´Élôåh
אֱלוֹהַº
of forces:º
and an
´élôåh
אֱלוֹהַº
whomº
his fathersº
knewºº
notº
shall he honourºº
with gold,º
and silver,º
and with preciousº
stones,º
and pleasant things.ºº |

But in his estate shall he honour the Eloah of forces: and an eloah whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things. |

11:39
Thus shall he doºº

whomº
he shall acknowledgeºººº
[and] increaseºº
with glory:º
and he shall cause them to ruleºº
over many,º
and shall divideºº
the landº
for gain.º |

Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange eloah, whom he shall acknowledge [and] increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain. |

11:40
And at the timeº
of the endº
shall the kingº
of the southº
pushºº
atº
him: and the kingº
of the northº
shall come against him like a whirlwind,ººº
with chariots,º
and with horsemen,º
and with manyº
ships;º
and he shall enterºº
into the countries,º
and shall overflowºº
and pass over.ºº |

And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over. |

11:41
He shall enterºº
also into the gloriousº
land,º
and manyº
[countries] shall be overthrown:ºº
but theseº
shall escapeºº
out of his hand,ºº
[even]
´Éðôm
אֱדוֹם,º
and
Mô´äv
מוֹאָב,º
and the chiefº
of the childrenº
of
`Ammôn
עַמּוֹן.º |

He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many [countries] shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, [even] Edom, and Moav, and the chief of the children of Ammon. |
|
11:42
He shall stretch forthºº
his handº
also upon the countries:º
and the landº
of
Mixrayim
מִצרַיִםº
shall notº
escape.ºº |

11:42
He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Mitzrayim shall not escape. |
|
11:43
But he shall have powerºº
over the treasuresº
of goldº
and of silver,º
and over allº
the preciousº
thingsº
of
Mixrayim
מִצרַיִם:º
and the
Lûvîm
לוּבִיםº
and the
Cûšîm
כּוּשִׁיםº
[shall be] at his steps.º |

But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Mitzrayim: and the Luvim and the Kushim [shall be] at his steps. |
|
11:44
But tidingsº
out of the eastºº
and out of the northºº
shall troubleºº
him: therefore he shall go forthºº
with greatº
furyº
to destroy,ºº
and utterly to make awayºº
many.º |
|
11:44
But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many. |
|
11:45
And he shall plantºº
the tabernaclesº
of his palaceº
betweenº
the seasº
in the gloriousº
holyº
mountain;º
yet he shall comeºº
toº
his end,º
and noneº
shall helpºº
him. |
|
11:45
And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him. |
