Nevukhadnetztzar the king made an image of gold, whose height [was] threescore cubits, [and] the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Bavel. |

Then the princes, the governors, and captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, were gathered together unto the dedication of the image that Nevukhadnetztzar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that Nevukhadnetztzar had set up. |

[That] at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nevukhadnetztzar the king hath set up: |

and worshippethºº
shall the same hourº
be castºº
into the midstº
of a burningºº
fieryº
furnace.º |

And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth shall the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. |

Therefore at that time, when all the people heard the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and all kinds of musick, all the people, the nations, and the languages, fell down [and] worshipped the golden image that Nevukhadnetztzar the king had set up. |

Wherefore at that time certain Kasdaye came near, and accused the Yehudaye. |

to the kingº

O king,º
liveºº
for ever.º |

They spake and said to the king Nevukhadnetztzar, O king, live for ever. |

O king,º

a decree,º
thatº
everyº
manº
thatº
shall hearºº
the soundº
of the cornet,º
flute,º
harp,ºº
sackbut,º
psaltery,º
and dulcimer,ºº

kindsº

Thou, O king, hast made a decree, that every man that shall hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, shall fall down and worship the golden image: |

[that] he should be castºº

There are certain Yehudaye whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Bavel, Shadrakh, Meshakh, and Aved-Nego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy elahin, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. |

Then Nevukhadnetztzar in [his] rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrakh, Meshakh, and Aved-Nego. Then they brought these men before the king. |

unto them, [Is it] true,º

Nevukhadnetztzar spake and said unto them, [Is it] true, O Shadrakh, Meshakh, and Aved-Nego, do not ye serve my elahin, nor worship the golden image which I have set up? |

Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; [well]: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who [is] that Elah that shall deliver you out of my hands? |

Shadrakh, Meshakh, and Aved-Nego, answered and said to the king, O Nevukhadnetztzar, we [are] not careful to answer thee in this matter. |

´Éläh
אֱלָהº
whomº
weº
serveºº
isº
ableºº
to deliverºº
us fromº
the burningºº
fieryº
furnace,º
andºº
he will deliverºº
[us] out ofº
thine hand,º

If it be [so], our Elah whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver [us] out of thine hand, O king. |

unto thee, O king,º
thatº
we willº
notº
serveºº

אֱלָהִין,º
norº
worshipºº
the goldenº
imageº
whichº

 3:18
But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy elahin, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. |

of his visageº
was changedºº

[therefore] he spake,ºº
and commandedºº
that they should heatºº
the furnaceº
oneº
seven timesº
moreº
thanº
it was wontºº
to be heated.ºº |
 3:19 ¶
Then was Nevukhadnetztzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrakh, Meshakh, and Aved-Nego: [therefore] he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated. |

And he commandedºº
the mostº
mightyºº
menº
thatº
[were] in his armyº
to bindºº

מֵישַׁך,º
and
`Ávëð Næqô
עֲבֵד־נְגוֹ,º
[and] to castºº
[them] into the burningºº
fieryº
furnace.º |
 3:20
And he commanded the most mighty men that [were] in his army to bind Shadrakh, Meshakh, and Aved-Nego, [and] to cast [them] into the burning fiery furnace. |
 3:21

menº
were boundºº
in their coats,º
their hosen,ºº
and their hats,º
and their [other] garments,º
and were castºº
into the midstº
of the burningºº
fieryº
furnace.º |
 3:21
Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their [other] garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. |
 3:22
Thereforeººº
becauseººº
the king'sº
commandmentº
was urgent,ºº
and the furnaceº
exceedingºº
hot,ºº
the flameº
ofº
the fireº
slewºº
thoseº
menºº
thatº
took upºº

 3:22
Therefore because the king's commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrakh, Meshakh, and Aved-Nego. |
 3:23
And theseº

men,º

and

עֲבֵד־נְגוֹ,º
fell downºº
boundºº
into the midstº
of the burningºº
fieryº
furnace.º |
 3:23
And these three men, Shadrakh, Meshakh, and Aved-Nego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. |
 3:24

the kingº
was astonied,ºº
and rose upºº
in haste,ºº
[and] spake,ºº
and saidºº
unto his counsellors,º
Did notº
we castºº
threeº
menº
boundºº
into the midstº
of the fire?º
They answeredºº
and saidºº
unto the king,º
True,º
O king.º |

Then Nevukhadnetztzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, [and] spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king. |

He answeredºº
and said,ºº
Lo,º
Iº
seeºº
fourº
menº
loose,ºº
walkingºº
in the midstº
of the fire,º
and they haveº
noº
hurt;º
and the formº
ofº
the fourthº
is likeºº
the Sonº
of
´élähîn
אֱלָהִין.º |
 3:25
He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of elahin. |

to the mouthº
of the burningºº

furnace,º
[and] spake,ºº

ye servantsº

 3:26 ¶
Then Nevukhadnetztzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, [and] spake, and said, Shadrakh, Meshakh, and Aved-Nego, ye servants of Elah Illaya, come forth, and come [hither]. Then Shadrakh, Meshakh, and Aved-Nego, came forth of the midst of the fire. |

and captains,º
and the king'sº
counsellors,º
being gathered together,ºº
sawºº
theseº
men,º
upon whoseº
bodiesº
the fireº
had noº
power,ººº
norº
was an hairº
of their headº
singed,ºº
neitherº
were their coatsº
changed,ºº

the smellº
of fireº
had passedºº
on them. |
 3:27
And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king's counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them. |

Blessedºº
[be] the
´Éläh
אֱלָהº

[Then] Nevukhadnetztzar spake, and said, Blessed [be] the Elah of Shadrakh, Meshakh, and Aved-Nego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king's word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any elah, except their own Elah. |

Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the Elah of Shadrakh, Meshakh, and Aved-Nego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other Elah that can deliver after this sort. |
