 4:1 ¶ And thou, son of man, take thee a brick, and thou shalt set it before thy face, and shalt portray on it the city, [even] Jerusalem.

 4:1 ¶ Thouº also, sonº of man,º takeºº thee a tile,º and layºº it beforeº thee, and pourtrayºº uponº it the city,º [even]º Jerusalem:º

 4:2 And thou shalt besiege it, and build works against it, and throw up a mound round about it, and pitch camps against it, and set up engines round about.

 4:2 And layºº siegeº againstº it, and buildºº a fortº againstº it, and castºº a mountº againstº it; setºº the campº also againstº it, and setºº [battering] ramsº againstº it round about.º

 4:3 And take thou to thyself an iron pan, and thou shalt set it [for] an iron wall between thee and the city: and thou shalt set thy face against it, and it shall be in a siege, and thou shalt besiege it. This is a sign to the children of Israel.

 4:3 Moreover takeºº thouº unto thee an ironº pan,º and setºº it [for] a wallº of ironº betweenº thee and the city:º and setººº thy faceº againstº it, and it shall beº besieged,º and thou shalt lay siegeºº againstº it. Thisº [shall be] a signº to the houseº of Israel.º

 4:4 And thou shalt lie upon thy left side, and lay the iniquities of the house of Israel upon it, according to the number of the hundred and fifty days [during] which thou shalt lie upon it: and thou shalt bear their iniquities.

 4:4 Lieºº thouº also uponº thy leftº side,º and layººº the iniquityº of the houseº of Israelº uponº it: [according] to the numberº of the daysº thatº thou shalt lieºº uponº it thou shalt bearººº their iniquity.º

 4:5 For I have appointed thee their iniquities for a number of days, for a hundred and ninety days: so thou shalt bear the iniquities of the house of Israel.

 4:5 For Iº have laidºº upon theeº the yearsº of their iniquity,º according to the numberº of the days,º threeº hundredº and ninetyº days:º so shalt thou bearºº the iniquityº of the houseº of Israel.º

 4:6 And thou shalt accomplish this, and [then] shalt lie on thy right side, and shalt bear the iniquities of the house of Judah{gr.Juda} forty days: I have appointed thee a day for a year.

 4:6 And when thou hast accomplishedººº them,º lieºº againº onº thy rightººº side,º and thou shalt bearººº the iniquityº of the houseº of Judahº fortyº days:º I have appointedºº thee each dayº for a year.ºº

 4:7 So thou shalt set thy face to the siege of Jerusalem, and shalt strengthen thine arm, and shalt prophesy against it.

 4:7 Therefore thou shalt setºº thy faceº towardº the siegeº of Jerusalem,º and thine armº [shall be] uncovered,ºº and thou shalt prophesyºº againstº it.

 4:8 And, behold, I have prepared bonds for thee, land thou mayest not turn from thy one side to the other, until the days of thy siege shall be accomplished.

 4:8 And, behold,º I will layºº bandsº uponº thee, and thou shalt notº turnºº thee from one sideºº toº another,º tillº thou hast endedºº the daysº of thy siege.º

 4:9 ¶ Take thou also to thee wheat, and barley, and beans, and lentils, and millet, and bread-corn; and thou shalt cast them into one earthen vessel, and shalt make them into loaves for thyself; and thou shalt eat them a hundred and ninety days, according to the number of the days [during] which thou sleepest on thy side.

 4:9 ¶ Takeºº thouº also unto thee wheat,º and barley,º and beans,º and lentiles,º and millet,º and fitches,º and putºº them in oneº vessel,º and makeºº thee breadº thereof, [according] to the numberº of the daysº thatº thouº shalt lieºº uponº thy side,º threeº hundredº and ninetyº daysº shalt thou eatºº thereof.

 4:10 And thou shalt eat thy food by weight, twenty shekels a day: from time to time shalt thou eat them.

 4:10 And thy meatº whichº thou shalt eatºº [shall be] by weight,º twentyº shekelsº a day:º from timeºº toº timeº shalt thou eatºº it.

 4:11 And thou shalt drink water by measure, even from time to time thou shalt drink the sixth part of a hin.

 4:11 Thou shalt drinkºº also waterº by measure,º the sixth partº of an hin:º from timeºº toº timeº shalt thou drink.ºº

 4:12 And thou shalt eat them [as] a barley cake: thou shalt bake them before their eyes in man's dung.

 4:12 And thou shalt eatºº it [as] barleyº cakes,º and thou shalt bakeºº itº with dungº that cometh outº of man,º in their sight.º

 4:13 And thou shalt say, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel; Thus shall the children of Israel eat unclean things among the Gentiles.

 4:13 And Yahwehº said,ºº Even thusº shall the childrenº of Israelº eatºº their defiledºº breadº among the Gentiles,º whitherºº I will driveºº them.

 4:14 Then I said, Not so, Lord God of Israel: surely my soul has not been defiled with uncleanness; nor have I eaten, that which died of itself or was torn of beasts from my birth until now; neither has any corrupt flesh entered into my mouth.

 4:14 Then saidºº I, Ahº Adonaiº Yahweh!º behold,º my soulº hath notº been polluted:ºº for from my youthºº up even tillº nowº have I notº eatenºº of that which dieth of itself,º or is torn in pieces;º neitherº cameºº there abominableº fleshº into my mouth.º

 4:15 And he said to me, Behold, I have given thee dung of oxen instead of man's dung, and thou shalt prepare thy loaves upon it.

 4:15 Then he saidºº untoº me, Lo,ºº I have givenºº theeº cow'sº dungºº forº man'sº dung,º and thou shalt prepareººº thy breadº therewith.º

 4:16 And he said to me, Son of man, behold, I break the support of bread in Jerusalem: and they shall eat bread by weight and in want; and shall drink water by measure, and in a state of ruin:

 4:16 Moreover he saidºº untoº me, Sonº of man,º behold,º I will breakºº the staffº of breadº in Jerusalem:º and they shall eatºº breadº by weight,º and with care;º and they shall drinkºº waterº by measure,º and with astonishment:º

 4:17 that they may want bread and water; and a man and his brother shall be brought to ruin, and they shall pine away in their iniquities.

 4:17 Thatº they may wantºº breadº and water,º and be astoniedºº oneº with another,º and consume awayºº for their iniquity.º
