 4:1 ¶ And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice; for they will say, Jehovah hath not appeared unto thee.

 4:1 ¶ And Mosesº answeredºº and said,ºº But, behold,º they will notº believeºº me, norº hearkenºº unto my voice:º forº they will say,ºº The LORDº hath notº appearedºº untoº thee.

 4:2 And Jehovah said unto him, What is that in thy hand? And he said, A rod.

 4:2 And the LORDº saidºº untoº him, What [is] thatºº in thine hand?º And he said,ºº A rod.º

 4:3 And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it.

 4:3 And he said,ºº Castºº it on the ground.º And he castºº it on the ground,º and it becameº a serpent;º and Mosesº fledºº from beforeºº it.

 4:4 And Jehovah said unto Moses, Put forth thy hand, and take it by the tail: (and he put forth his hand, and laid hold of it, and it became a rod in his hand:)

 4:4 And the LORDº saidºº untoº Moses,º Put forthºº thine hand,º and takeºº it by the tail.º And he put forthºº his hand,º and caughtºº it, and it becameº a rodº in his hand:º

 4:5 That they may believe that Jehovah, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appeared unto thee.

 4:5 Thatº they may believeºº thatº the LORDº Godº of their fathers,º the Godº of Abraham,º the Godº of Isaac,º and the Godº of Jacob,º hath appearedºº untoº thee.

 4:6 ¶ And Jehovah said furthermore unto him, Put now thy hand into thy bosom. And he put his hand into his bosom: and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous, as [white as] snow.

 4:6 ¶ And the LORDº saidºº furthermoreº unto him, Putºº nowº thine handº into thy bosom.º And he putºº his handº into his bosom:º and when he tookºº it out,º behold,º his handº [was] leprousºº as snow.º

 4:7 And he said, Put thy hand into thy bosom again. (And he put his hand into his bosom again; and when he took it out of his bosom, behold, it was turned again as his [other] flesh.)

 4:7 And he said,ºº Putºº thine handº intoº thy bosomº again.ºº And he putºº his handº intoº his bosomº again;ºº and pluckedºº it outº of his bosom,ºº and, behold,º it was turned againºº as his [other] flesh.º

 4:8 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign.

 4:8 And it shall come to pass,º ifº they will notº believeºº thee, neitherº hearkenºº to the voiceº of the firstº sign,º that they will believeºº the voiceº of the latterº sign.º

 4:9 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe even these two signs, neither hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which thou takest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land.

 4:9 And it shall come to pass,º ifº they will notº believeºº alsoº theseº twoº signs,º neitherº hearkenºº unto thy voice,º that thou shalt takeºº of the waterºº of the river,º and pourºº [it] upon the dryº [land]: and the waterº whichº thou takestºº out ofº the riverº shall becomeº bloodº upon the dryº [land].

 4:10 ¶ And Moses said unto Jehovah, Oh, Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant; for I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.

 4:10 ¶ And Mosesº saidºº untoº the LORD,º Oº my Lord,º Iºº [am] notº eloquent,ºº neitherº heretofore,ºººº norº sinceºº thou hast spokenºº untoº thy servant:º butº Iº [am] slowº of speech,º and of a slowº tongue.º

 4:11 And Jehovah said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? Or who maketh [a man] dumb, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I, Jehovah?

 4:11 And the LORDº saidºº untoº him, Whoº hath madeºº man'sº mouth?º orº whoº makethºº the dumb,º orº deaf,º orº the seeing,º orº the blind?º have notº Iº the LORD?º

 4:12 Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt speak.

 4:12 Nowº therefore go,ººº and Iº will beº withº thy mouth,º and teachºº thee whatº thou shalt say.ºº

 4:13 And he said, Oh, Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send.

 4:13 And he said,ºº Oº my Lord,º send,ºº I pray thee,º by the handº [of him whom] thou wilt send.ºº

 4:14 And the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is there not Aaron thy brother the Levite? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart.

 4:14 And the angerº of the LORDº was kindledºº against Moses,º and he said,ºº [Is] notº Aaronº the Leviteº thy brother?º I knowºº thatº heº can speakºº well.ºº And also,º behold,º heº cometh forthºº to meetºº thee: and when he seethºº thee, he will be gladºº in his heart.º

 4:15 And thou shalt speak unto him, and put the words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do.

 4:15 And thou shalt speakºº untoº him, and putººº wordsº in his mouth:º and Iº will beº withº thy mouth,º and withº his mouth,º and will teachºº youº whatº ye shall do.ºº

 4:16 And he shall be thy spokesman unto the people; and it shall come to pass, that he shall be to thee a mouth, and thou shalt be to him as God.

 4:16 And heº shall be thy spokesmanºº untoº the people:º and he shall be,º [even] heº shall beº to thee instead of a mouth,º and thouº shalt beº to him instead of God.º

 4:17 And thou shalt take in thy hand this rod, wherewith thou shalt do the signs.

 4:17 And thou shalt takeºº thisº rodº in thine hand,º wherewithº thou shalt doººº signs.º

 4:18 ¶ And Moses went and returned to Jethro his father-in-law, and said unto him, Let me go, I pray thee, and return unto my brethren that are in Egypt, and see whether they be yet alive. And Jethro said to Moses, Go in peace.

 4:18 ¶ And Mosesº wentººº and returnedºº toº Jethroºº his father in law,ºº and saidºº unto him, Let me go,ººº I pray thee,º and returnºº untoº my brethrenº whichº [are] in Egypt,º and seeºº whether they be yetº alive.º And Jethroº saidºº to Moses,º Goººº in peace.º

 4:19 And Jehovah said unto Moses in Midian, Go, return into Egypt; for all the men are dead that sought thy life.

 4:19 And the LORDº saidºº untoº Mosesº in Midian,º Go,ººº returnºº into Egypt:º forº allº the menºº are deadºº which soughtººº thy life.º

 4:20 And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of God in his hand.

 4:20 And Mosesº tookººº his wifeº and his sons,º and setºº them uponº an ass,º and he returnedºº to the landº of Egypt:º and Mosesº tookººº the rodº of Godº in his hand.º

 4:21 And Jehovah said unto Moses, When thou goest back into Egypt, see that thou do before Pharaoh all the wonders which I have put in thy hand: but I will harden his heart and he will not let the people go.

 4:21 And the LORDº saidºº untoº Moses,º When thou goestººº to returnºº into Egypt,º seeºº that thou doºº allº those wondersº beforeº Pharaoh,º whichº I have putºº in thine hand:º but Iº will hardenººº his heart,º that he shall notº letº the peopleº go.ºº

 4:22 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith Jehovah, Israel is my son, my first-born:

 4:22 And thou shalt sayºº untoº Pharaoh,º Thusº saithºº the LORD,º Israelº [is] my son,º [even] my firstborn:º

 4:23 and I have said unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me; and thou hast refused to let him go: behold, I will slay thy son, thy first-born.

 4:23 And I sayºº untoº thee, Letº my sonº go,ºº that he may serveºº me: and if thou refuseºº to let him go,ºº behold,º Iº will slayººº thy son,º [even] thy firstborn.º

 4:24 ¶ And it came to pass on the way at the lodging-place, that Jehovah met him, and sought to kill him.

 4:24 ¶ And it came to passº by the wayº in the inn,º that the LORDº metºº him, and soughtºº to killºº him.

 4:25 Then Zipporah took a flint, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet; and she said, Surely a bridegroom of blood art thou to me.

 4:25 Then Zipporahº tookºº a sharp stone,º and cut offººº the foreskinº of her son,º and castºº [it] at his feet,º and said,ºº Surelyº a bloodyº husbandº [art] thouº to me.

 4:26 So he let him alone. Then she said, A bridegroom of blood [art thou], because of the circumcision.

 4:26 So he let him go:ººº thenº she said,ºº A bloodyº husbandº [thou art], because of the circumcision.º

 4:27 ¶ And Jehovah said to Aaron, Go into the wilderness to meet Moses. And he went, and met him in the mountain of God, and kissed him.

 4:27 ¶ And the LORDº saidºº toº Aaron,º Goººº into the wildernessº to meetºº Moses.º And he went,ººº and metºº him in the mountº of God,º and kissedºº him.

 4:28 And Moses told Aaron all the words of Jehovah wherewith he had sent him, and all the signs wherewith he had charged him.

 4:28 And Mosesº toldºº Aaronºº allº the wordsº of the LORDº whoº had sentºº him, and allº the signsº whichº he had commandedºº him.

 4:29 ¶ And Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel:

 4:29 ¶ And Mosesº and Aaronº wentººº and gathered togetherººº allº the eldersº of the childrenº of Israel:º

 4:30 and Aaron spake all the words which Jehovah had spoken unto Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people.

 4:30 And Aaronº spakeººº allº the wordsº whichº the LORDº had spokenºº untoº Moses,º and didºº the signsº in the sightº of the people.º

 4:31 And the people believed: and when they heard that Jehovah had visited the children of Israel, and that he had seen their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped.

 4:31 And the peopleº believed:ºº and when they heardºº thatº the LORDº had visitedººº the childrenº of Israel,º and thatº he had lookedºº uponºº their affliction,º then they bowed their headsºº and worshipped.ºº
