 14:1 ¶
And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying, |
|
 14:1 ¶
And the LORDº
spakeºº
untoº
Moses,º
saying,ºº |
 14:2
Speak unto the children of Israel, that they turn back and encamp before Pihahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, before Baal-zephon: over against it shall ye encamp by the sea. |
 14:2
Speakºº
untoº
the childrenº
of Israel,º
that they turnºº
and encampºº
beforeº
Pihahiroth,º
betweenº
Migdolº
and the sea,º
over againstº
Baalzephon:º
beforeº
it shall ye encampºº
byº
the sea.º |
 14:3
And Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in. |
 14:3
For Pharaohº
will sayºº
of the childrenº
of Israel,º
Theyº
[are] entangledºº
in the land,º
the wildernessº
hath shut them in.ººº |
 14:4
And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and he shall follow after them; and I will get me honor upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host: and the Egyptians shall know that I am Jehovah. And they did so. |
 14:4
And I will hardenººº
Pharaoh'sº
heart,º
that he shall followºº
afterº
them; and I will be honouredºº
upon Pharaoh,º
and upon allº
his host;º
that the Egyptiansº
may knowºº
thatº
Iº
[am] the LORD.º
And they didºº
so.º |
 14:5 ¶
And it was told the king of Egypt that the people were fled: and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was changed towards the people, and they said, What is this we have done, that we have let Israel go from serving us? |
 14:5 ¶
And it was toldºº
the kingº
of Egyptº
thatº
the peopleº
fled:ºº
and the heartº
of Pharaohº
and of his servantsº
was turnedºº
againstº
the people,º
and they said,ºº
Whyº
have we doneºº
this,º
thatº
we have letº
Israelº
goºº
from servingººº
us? |
 14:6
And he made ready his chariot, and took his people with him: |
 14:6
And he made readyººº
his chariot,º
and tookºº
his peopleº
withº
him: |
 14:7
and he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over all of them. |
 14:7
And he tookºº
sixº
hundredº
chosenºº
chariots,º
and allº
the chariotsº
of Egypt,º
and captainsº
overº
every oneº
of them. |
 14:8
And Jehovah hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel: for the children of Israel went out with a high hand. |
 14:8
And the LORDº
hardenedººº
the heartº
of Pharaohº
kingº
of Egypt,º
and he pursuedºº
afterº
the childrenº
of Israel:º
and the childrenº
of Israelº
went outºº
with an highºº
hand.º |
 14:9
And the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses [and] chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baal-zephon. |
 14:9
But the Egyptiansº
pursuedºº
afterº
them, allº
the horsesº
[and] chariotsº
of Pharaoh,º
and his horsemen,º
and his army,º
and overtookºº
them encampingºº
byº
the sea,º
besideº
Pihahiroth,º
beforeº
Baalzephon.º |
 14:10 ¶
And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians were marching after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto Jehovah. |
 14:10 ¶
And when Pharaohº
drew nigh,ºº
the childrenº
of Israelº
lifted upººº
their eyes,º
and, behold,º
the Egyptiansº
marchedºº
afterº
them; and they were soreº
afraid:ºº
and the childrenº
of Israelº
cried outºº
untoº
the LORD.º |
 14:11
And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to bring us forth out of Egypt? |
 14:11
And they saidºº
untoº
Moses,º
Becauseºº
[there were] noº
gravesº
in Egypt,º
hast thou taken us awayºº
to dieºº
in the wilderness?º
whereforeºº
hast thou dealtºº
thusº
with us, to carry us forthºº
out of Egypt?ºº |
 14:12
Is not this the word that we spake unto thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it were better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness. |
 14:12
[Is] notº
thisº
the wordº
thatº
we did tellººº
thee in Egypt,º
saying,ºº
Let us alone,ººº
that we may serveººº
the Egyptians?º
Forº
[it had been] betterº
for us to serveººº
the Egyptians,º
than that we should dieººº
in the wilderness.º |
 14:13 ¶
And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of Jehovah, which he will work for you to-day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to-day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. |
 14:13 ¶
And Mosesº
saidºº
untoº
the people,º
Fearºº
ye not,º
stand still,ºº
and seeººº
the salvationº
of the LORD,º
whichº
he will shewºº
to you to day:º
forºº
the Egyptiansº
whomº
ye have seenºº
to day,º
ye shall seeºº
them againººº
noº
moreº
forº
ever.ºº |
 14:14
Jehovah will fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. |
 14:14
The LORDº
shall fightºº
for you, and yeº
shall hold your peace.ºº |
 14:15 ¶
And Jehovah said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward. |
 14:15 ¶
And the LORDº
saidºº
untoº
Moses,º
Whereforeº
criestºº
thou untoº
me? speakºº
untoº
the childrenº
of Israel,º
that they go forward:ºº |
 14:16
And lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thy hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go into the midst of the sea on dry ground. |
 14:16
But lift thou upºººº
thy rod,º
and stretch outººº
thine handº
overº
the sea,º
and divideºº
it: and the childrenº
of Israelº
shall goºº
on dryº
[ground] through the midstº
of the sea.º |
 14:17
And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall go in after them: and I will get me honor upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen. |
 14:17
And I,º
behold,º
I will hardenººº
the heartsº
of the Egyptians,º
and they shall followººº
them:º
and I will get me honourºº
upon Pharaoh,º
and upon allº
his host,º
upon his chariots,º
and upon his horsemen.º |
 14:18
And the Egyptians shall know that I am Jehovah, when I have gotten me honor upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen. |
 14:18
And the Egyptiansº
shall knowºº
thatº
Iº
[am] the LORD,º
when I have gotten me honourºº
upon Pharaoh,º
upon his chariots,º
and upon his horsemen.º |
 14:19 ¶
And the angel of God, who went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud removed from before them, and stood behind them: |
 14:19 ¶
And the angelº
of God,º
which wentºº
beforeº
the campº
of Israel,º
removedºº
and wentººº
behindºº
them; and the pillarº
of the cloudº
wentºº
from before their face,ºº
and stoodºº
behindºº
them: |
 14:20
and it came between the camp of Egypt and the camp of Israel; and there was the cloud and the darkness, yet gave it light by night: and the one came not near the other all the night. |
 14:20
And it cameºº
betweenº
the campº
of the Egyptiansº
and the campº
of Israel;º
and it wasº
a cloudº
and darknessº
[to them], but it gave lightººº
by nightº
[to these]: so that the oneº
came not nearººº
the otherº
allº
the night.º |
 14:21
And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and Jehovah caused the sea to go [back] by a strong east wind all the night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. |
 14:21
And Mosesº
stretched outººº
his handº
overº
the sea;º
and the LORDº
causedº
the seaº
to goººº
[back] by a strongº
eastº
windº
allº
that night,º
and madeººº
the seaº
dryº
[land], and the watersº
were divided.ºº |
 14:22
And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left. |
 14:22
And the childrenº
of Israelº
wentºº
into the midstº
of the seaº
upon the dryº
[ground]: and the watersº
[were] a wallº
unto them on their right hand,ºº
and on their left.ºº |
 14:23 ¶
And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them into the midst of the sea, all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen. |
 14:23 ¶
And the Egyptiansº
pursued,ºº
and went inºº
afterº
them toº
the midstº
of the sea,º
[even] allº
Pharaoh'sº
horses,º
his chariots,º
and his horsemen.º |
 14:24
And it came to pass in the morning watch, that Jehovah looked forth upon the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of cloud, and discomfited the host of the Egyptians. |
 14:24
And it came to pass,º
that in the morningº
watchº
the LORDº
lookedºº
untoº
the hostº
of the Egyptiansº
through the pillarº
of fireº
and of the cloud,º
and troubledººº
the hostº
of the Egyptians,º |
 14:25
And he took off their chariot wheels, and they drove them heavily; so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for Jehovah fighteth for them against the Egyptians. |
 14:25
And took offººº
their chariotº
wheels,º
that they draveºº
them heavily:º
so that the Egyptiansº
said,ºº
Let us fleeºº
from the faceºº
of Israel;º
forº
the LORDº
fightethºº
for them against the Egyptians.º |
 14:26 ¶
And Jehovah said unto Moses, Stretch out thy hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen. |
 14:26 ¶
And the LORDº
saidºº
untoº
Moses,º
Stretch outººº
thine handº
overº
the sea,º
that the watersº
may come againºº
uponº
the Egyptians,º
uponº
their chariots,º
and uponº
their horsemen.º |
 14:27
And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and Jehovah overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. |
 14:27
And Mosesº
stretched forthººº
his handº
overº
the sea,º
and the seaº
returnedºº
to his strengthº
when the morningº
appeared;ºº
and the Egyptiansº
fledºº
againstºº
it; and the LORDº
overthrewººº
the Egyptiansº
in the midstº
of the sea.º |
 14:28
And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, even all the host of Pharaoh that went in after them into the sea; there remained not so much as one of them. |
 14:28
And the watersº
returned,ºº
and coveredººº
the chariots,º
and the horsemen,º
[and] allº
the hostº
of Pharaohº
that cameºº
into the seaº
afterº
them; there remainedºº
notº
so much asº
oneº
of them. |
 14:29
But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left. |
 14:29
But the childrenº
of Israelº
walkedºº
upon dryº
[land] in the midstº
of the sea;º
and the watersº
[were] a wallº
unto them on their right hand,ºº
and on their left.ºº |
 14:30
Thus Jehovah saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea-shore. |
 14:30
Thus the LORDº
savedººº
Israelº
thatº
dayº
out of the handºº
of the Egyptians;º
and Israelº
sawººº
the Egyptiansº
deadºº
uponº
the seaº
shore.º |
 14:31
And Israel saw the great work which Jehovah did upon the Egyptians, and the people feared Jehovah: and they believed in Jehovah, and in his servant Moses. |
 14:31
And Israelº
sawººº
that greatº
workº
whichº
the LORDº
didºº
upon the Egyptians:º
and the peopleº
fearedººº
the LORD,º
and believedºº
the LORD,º
and his servantº
Moses.º |
