Joshua 3
1 Joshua cometh to Jordan. 2 The officers instruct the people for the passage. 7 The LORD encourageth Joshua. 9 Joshua encourageth the people. 14 The waters of Jordan are divided.
3:1
Then Joshua 3091 rose 7925 early 7925 in the morning 1242; and he and all 3605 the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 set 5265 out from Shittim 7851 and came 935 to the Jordan 3383, and they lodged 3885a there 8033 before 2962 they crossed 5674a.
3:2
At the end 7097a of three 7969 days 3117 the officers 7860 went 5674a through 5674a the midst 7130 of the camp 4264;
3:3
and they commanded 6680 the people 5971a, saying 559, “When you see 7200 the ark 727 of the covenant 1285 of the LORD 3068 your God 430 with the Levitical 3881 priests 3548 carrying 5375 it, then you shall set 5265 out from your place 4725 and go 1980 after 310 it.
3:4
“However 389, there shall be between 996 you and it a distance 7350 of about 2,000 505 cubits 520 by measure 4060a. Do not come 7126 near 7126 it, that you may know 3045 the way 1870 by which 834 you shall go 1980, for you have not passed 5674a this way 1870 before 4480 8543 8032a.”
3:5
¶ Then Joshua 3091 said 559 to the people 5971a, “Consecrate 6942 yourselves, for tomorrow 4279 the LORD 3068 will do 6213a wonders 6381 among 7130 you.”
3:6
And Joshua 3091 spoke 559 to the priests 3548, saying 559, “Take 5375 up the ark 727 of the covenant 1285 and cross 5674a over 5674a ahead 6440 of the people 5971a.” So they took 5375 up the ark 727 of the covenant 1285 and went 1980 ahead 6440 of the people 5971a.
3:7
¶ Now the LORD 3068 said 559 to Joshua 3091, “This 2088 day 3117 I will begin 2490c to exalt 1431 you in the sight 5869 of all 3605 Israel 3478, that they may know 3045 that just 3512c as I have been 1961 with Moses 4872, I will be with you.
3:8
“You shall, moreover, command 6680 the priests 3548 who are carrying 5375 the ark 727 of the covenant 1285, saying 559, ‘When you come 935 to the edge 7097a of the waters 4325 of the Jordan 3383, you shall stand 5975 [still] in the Jordan 3383.’”
3:9
Then Joshua 3091 said 559 to the sons 1121 of Israel 3478, “Come 5066 here 2008, and hear 8085 the words 1697 of the LORD 3068 your God 430.”
3:10
Joshua 3091 said 559, “By this 2088 you shall know 3045 that the living 2416a God 410 is among 7130 you, and that He will assuredly 3423 dispossess 3423 from before 6440 you the Canaanite 3669a, the Hittite 2850, the Hivite 2340, the Perizzite 6522, the Girgashite 1622, the Amorite 567, and the Jebusite 2983.
3:11
“Behold 2009, the ark 727 of the covenant 1285 of the Lord 136 of all 3605 the earth 776 is crossing 5674a over 5674a ahead 6440 of you into the Jordan 3383.
3:12
“Now 6258 then, take 3947 for yourselves twelve 8147 6240 men 376 from the tribes 7626 of Israel 3478, one 259 man 376 for each 376 259 tribe 7626.
3:13
“It shall come 1961 about when the soles 3709 of the feet 7272 of the priests 3548 who carry 5375 the ark 727 of the LORD 3068, the Lord 136 of all 3605 the earth 776, rest 5117 in the waters 4325 of the Jordan 3383, the waters 4325 of the Jordan 3383 will be cut 3772 off 3772, [and] the waters 4325 which are flowing 3381 down 3381 from above 4480 4605 will stand 5975 in one 259 heap 5067a.”
3:14
¶ So when the people 5971a set 5265 out from their tents 168 to cross 5674a the Jordan 3383 with the priests 3548 carrying 5375 the ark 727 of the covenant 1285 before 6440 the people 5971a,
3:15
and when those who carried 5375 the ark 727 came 935 into the Jordan 3383, and the feet 7272 of the priests 3548 carrying 5375 the ark 727 were dipped 2881 in the edge 7097a of the water 4325 (for the Jordan 3383 overflows 4390 5921 all 3605 its banks 1415 all 3605 the days 3117 of harvest 7105a),
3:16
the waters 4325 which were flowing 3381 down 3381 from above 4480 4605 stood 5975 [and] rose 6965 up in one 259 heap 5067a, a great 3966 distance 7368 away at Adam 121, the city 5892b that is beside 4480 6654 Zarethan 6891; and those which were flowing 3381 down 3381 toward 5921 the sea 3220 of the Arabah 6160, the Salt 4417 Sea 3220, were completely 8552 cut 3772 off 3772. So the people 5971a crossed 5674a opposite 5048 Jericho 3405.
3:17
And the priests 3548 who carried 5375 the ark 727 of the covenant 1285 of the LORD 3068 stood 5975 firm 5975 on dry 2724 ground 2724 in the middle 8432 of the Jordan 3383 while all 3605 Israel 3478 crossed 5674a on dry 2724 ground 2724, until 5704 834 all 3605 the nation 1471 had finished 8552 crossing 5674a the Jordan 3383.
