18:1
When Jesus 2424 had spoken 3004 these 3778 words, He went 1831 forth 1831 with His disciples 3101 over 4008 the ravine 5493 of the Kidron 2748, where 3699 there was a garden 2779, in which 3739 He entered 1525 with His disciples 3101.

Now 1161 Judas 2455 also 2532, who was betraying 3860 Him, knew 3609a the place 5117, for Jesus 2424 had often 4178 met 4863 there 1563 with His disciples 3101.

Judas 2455 then 3767, having received 2983 the [Roman] cohort 4686 and officers 5257 from the chief 749 priests 749 and the Pharisees 5330, *came 2064 there 1563 with lanterns 5322 and torches 2985 and weapons 3696.

So 3767 Jesus 2424, knowing 3609a all 3956 the things 3956 that were coming 2064 upon Him, went 1831 forth 1831 and *said 3004 to them, “Whom 5101 do you seek 2212?”

They answered 611 Him, “Jesus 2424 the Nazarene 3480.” He *said 3004 to them, “I am 1510 [He].” And Judas 2455 also 2532, who was betraying 3860 Him, was standing 2476 with them.

So 3767 when 5613 He said 3004 to them, “I am 1510 [He],” they drew 565 back 3694 and fell 4098 to the ground 5476.

Therefore 3767 He again 3825 asked 1905 them, “Whom 5101 do you seek 2212?” And they said 3004, “Jesus 2424 the Nazarene 3480.”

Jesus 2424 answered 611, “I told 3004 you that I am 1510 [He]; so 3767 if 1487 you seek 2212 Me, let 863 these 3778 go 5217 their way 5217,”

to fulfill 4137 the word 3056 which 3739 He spoke 3004, “Of those whom 3739 You have given 1325 Me I lost 622 not one 3762.”

Simon 4613 Peter 4074 then 3767, having 2192 a sword 3162, drew 1670 it and struck 3817 the high 749 priest’s 749 slave 1401, and cut 609 off 609 his right 1188 ear 5621a; and the slave’s 1401 name 3686 was Malchus 3124.
18:11
So 3767 Jesus 2424 said 3004 to Peter 4074, “Put 906 the sword 3162 into the sheath 2336; the cup 4221 which 3739 the Father 3962 has given 1325 Me, shall I not drink 4095 it?”

¶ So 3767 the [Roman] cohort 4686 and the commander 5506 and the officers 5257 of the Jews 2453, arrested 4815 Jesus 2424 and bound 1210 Him,

and led 71 Him to Annas 452 first 4413; for he was father-in-law 3995 of Caiaphas 2533, who 3739 was high 749 priest 749 that year 1763.

Now 1161 Caiaphas 2533 was the one who had advised 4823 the Jews 2453 that it was expedient 4851a for one 1520 man 444 to die 599 on behalf 5228 of the people 2992.

¶ Simon 4613 Peter 4074 was following 190 Jesus 2424, and [so was] another 243 disciple 3101. Now 1161 that disciple 3101 was known 1110 to the high 749 priest 749, and entered 4897 with Jesus 2424 into the court 833 of the high 749 priest 749,

but Peter 4074 was standing 2476 at the door 2374 outside 1854. So 3767 the other 243 disciple 3101, who was known 1110 to the high 749 priest 749, went 1831 out and spoke 3004 to the doorkeeper 2377, and brought 1521 Peter 4074 in.

Then 3767 the slave-girl 3814 who kept 2377 the door 2377 *said 3004 to Peter 4074, “You are not also 2532 [one] of this 3778 man’s 444 disciples 3101, are you?” He *said 3004, “I am 1510 not.”

Now 1161 the slaves 1401 and the officers 5257 were standing 2476 [there], having made 4160 a charcoal 439 fire 439, for it was cold 5592 and they were warming 2328 themselves; and Peter 4074 was also 2532 with them, standing 2476 and warming 2328 himself.
18:19
¶ The high 749 priest 749 then 3767 questioned 2065 Jesus 2424 about 4012 His disciples 3101, and about 4012 His teaching 1322.
18:20
Jesus 2424 answered 611 him, “I have spoken 2980 openly 3954 to the world 2889; I always 3842 taught 1321 in synagogues 4864 and in the temple 2413, where 3699 all 3956 the Jews 2453 come 4905 together 4905; and I spoke 2980 nothing 3762 in secret 2927.

“Why 5101 do you question 2065 Me? Question 2065 those 3588 who have heard 191 what 5101 I spoke 2980 to them; they know 3609a what 3739 I said 3004.”

When He had said 3004 this 3778, one 1520 of the officers 5257 standing 3936 nearby 3936 struck 1325 4475 Jesus 2424, saying 3004, “Is that the way 3779 You answer 611 the high 749 priest 749?”
18:23
Jesus 2424 answered 611 him, “If 1487 I have spoken 2980 wrongly 2560, testify 3140 of the wrong 2556; but if 1487 rightly 2573, why 5101 do you strike 1194 Me?”

So 3767 Annas 452 sent 649 Him bound 1210 to Caiaphas 2533 the high 749 priest 749.

¶ Now 1161 Simon 4613 Peter 4074 was standing 2476 and warming 2328 himself. So 3767 they said 3004 to him, “You are not also 2532 [one] of His disciples 3101, are you?” He denied 720 [it], and said 3004, “I am 1510 not.”

One 1520 of the slaves 1401 of the high 749 priest 749, being 1510 a relative 4773a of the one whose 3739 ear 5621b Peter 4074 cut 609 off 609, *said 3004, “Did I not see 3708 you in the garden 2779 with Him?”

Peter 4074 then 3767 denied 720 [it] again 3825, and immediately 2112 a rooster 220 crowed 5455.
18:28
¶ Then 3767 they *led 71 Jesus 2424 from Caiaphas 2533 into the Praetorium 4232, and it was early 4404; and they themselves 846 did not enter 1525 into the Praetorium 4232 so 2443 that they would not be defiled 3392, but might eat 2068 the Passover 3957.
18:29
Therefore 3767 Pilate 4091 went 1831 out to them and *said 5346, “What 5101 accusation 2724 do you bring 5342 against this 3778 Man 444?”
18:30
They answered 611 and said 3004 to him, “If 1487 this 3778 Man 3778 were not an evildoer 2556, we would not have delivered 3860 Him to you.”

So 3767 Pilate 4091 said 3004 to them, “Take 2983 Him yourselves 4771, and judge 2919 Him according 2596 to your law 3551.” The Jews 2453 said 3004 to him, “We are not permitted 1832 to put 615 anyone 3762 to death 615,”

to fulfill 4137 the word 3056 of Jesus 2424 which 3739 He spoke 3004, signifying 4591 by what 4169 kind 4169 of death 2288 He was about 3195 to die 599.
18:33
¶ Therefore 3767 Pilate 4091 entered 1525 again 3825 into the Praetorium 4232, and summoned 5455 Jesus 2424 and said 3004 to Him, “Are You the King 935 of the Jews 2453?”

Jesus 2424 answered 611, “Are you saying 3004 this 3778 on your own 1438 initiative 1438, or 2228 did others 243 tell 3004 you about 4012 Me?”
18:35
Pilate 4091 answered 611, “I am 1510 not a Jew 2453, am I? Your own nation 1484 and the chief 749 priests 749 delivered 3860 You to me; what 5101 have You done 4160?”
18:36
Jesus 2424 answered 611, “My kingdom 932 is not of this 3778 world 2889. If 1487 My kingdom 932 were of this 3778 world 2889, then My servants 5257 would be fighting 75 so 2443 that I would not be handed 3860 over to the Jews 2453; but as it is, My kingdom 932 is not of this 1782 realm 1782.”

Therefore 3767 Pilate 4091 said 3004 to Him, “So 3766 You are a king 935?” Jesus 2424 answered 611, “You say 3004 [correctly] that I am 1510 a king 935. For this 3778 I have been born 1080, and for this 3778 I have come 2064 into the world 2889, to testify 3140 to the truth 225. Everyone 3956 who is of the truth 225 hears 191 My voice 5456.”

Pilate 4091 *said 3004 to Him, “What 5101 is truth 225?” ¶ And when he had said 3004 this 3778, he went 1831 out again 3825 to the Jews 2453 and *said 3004 to them, “I find 2147 no 3762 guilt 156 in Him.

“But you have a custom 4914 that I release 630 someone 1520 for you at the Passover 3957; do you wish 1014 then 3767 that I release 630 for you the King 935 of the Jews 2453?”
18:40
So 3767 they cried 2905 out again 3825, saying 3004, “Not this 3778 Man 3778, but Barabbas 912.” Now 1161 Barabbas 912 was a robber 3027.
