1 Jesus excuseth Mary anointing his feet. 9 The people flock to see Lazarus. 10 The high priests consult to kill him. 12 Christ rideth into Jerusalem. 20 Greeks desire to see Jesus. 23 He foretelleth his death. 37 The Jews are generally blinded: 42 yet many chief rulers believe, but do not confess him: 44 therefore Jesus calleth earnestly for confession of faith.
12:1
Jesus 2424, therefore 3767, six 1803 days 2250 before 4253 the Passover 3957, came 2064 to Bethany 963 where 3699 Lazarus 2976 was, whom 3739 Jesus 2424 had raised 1453 from the dead 3498.
12:2
So 3767 they made 4160 Him a supper 1173 there 1563, and Martha 3136 was serving 1247; but Lazarus 2976 was one 1520 of those 3588 reclining 345 [at the table] with Him.
12:3
Mary 3137 then 3767 took 2983 a pound 3046 of very 4186 costly 4186 perfume 3464 of pure 4101 nard 3487, and anointed 218b the feet 4228 of Jesus 2424 and wiped 1591 His feet 4228 with her hair 2359; and the house 3614 was filled 4137 with the fragrance 3744 of the perfume 3464.
12:4
But Judas 2455 Iscariot 2469, one 1520 of His disciples 3101, who was intending 3195 to betray 3860 Him, *said 3004,
12:5
“Why 1223 5101 was this 3778 perfume 3464 not sold 4097 for three 5145 hundred 5145 denarii 1220 and given 1325 to poor 4434 [people]?”
12:6
Now 1161 he said 3004 this 3778, not because 3754 he was concerned 3199 about 4012 the poor 4434, but because 3754 he was a thief 2812, and as he had 2192 the money 1101 box 1101, he used to pilfer 941 what was put 906 into it.
12:7
Therefore 3767 Jesus 2424 said 3004, “Let 863 her alone 863, so 2443 that she may keep 5083 it for the day 2250 of My burial 1780.
12:8
“For you always 3842 have 2192 the poor 4434 with you, but you do not always 3842 have 2192 Me.”
12:9
¶ The large 4183 crowd 3793 of the Jews 2453 then 3767 learned 1097 that He was there 1563; and they came 2064, not for Jesus’ 2424 sake 1223 only 3440, but that they might also 2532 see 3708 Lazarus 2976, whom 3739 He raised 1453 from the dead 3498.
12:10
But the chief 749 priests 749 planned 1011 to put 615 Lazarus 2976 to death 615 also 2532;
12:11
because 3754 on account 1223 of him many 4183 of the Jews 2453 were going 5217 away 5217 and were believing 4100 in Jesus 2424.
12:12
¶ On the next 1887 day 1887 the large 4183 crowd 3793 who had come 2064 to the feast 1859, when they heard 191 that Jesus 2424 was coming 2064 to Jerusalem 2414,

took 2983 the branches 902 of the palm 5404 trees 5404 and went 1831 out to meet 5222 Him, and [began] to shout 2905, “Hosanna 5614! BLESSED 2127 IS HE WHO COMES 2064 IN THE NAME 3686 OF THE LORD 2962, even 2532 the King 935 of Israel 2474.”

Jesus 2424, finding 2147 a young 3678 donkey 3678, sat 2523 on it; as it is written 1125,
12:15
“FEAR 5399 NOT, DAUGHTER 2364 OF ZION 4622; BEHOLD 2400, YOUR KING 935 IS COMING 2064, SEATED 2521 ON A DONKEY’S 3688 COLT 4454.”
12:16
These 3778 things 3778 His disciples 3101 did not understand 1097 at the first 4413; but when 3753 Jesus 2424 was glorified 1392, then 5119 they remembered 3403 that these 3778 things 3778 were written 1125 of Him, and that they had done 4160 these 3778 things 3778 to Him.
12:17
So 3767 the people 3793, who were with Him when 3753 He called 5455 Lazarus 2976 out of the tomb 3419 and raised 1453 him from the dead 3498, continued 3140 to testify 3140 [about Him].
12:18
For this 3778 reason 1223 also 2532 the people 3793 went 5221 and met 5221 Him, because 3754 they heard 191 that He had performed 4160 this 3778 sign 4592.
12:19
So 3767 the Pharisees 5330 said 3004 to one 1438 another 1438, “You see 2334 that you are not doing 5623 any 3762 good 5623; look 2396, the world 2889 has gone 565 after 3694 Him.”
12:20
¶ Now 1161 there 1563 were some 5100 Greeks 1672 among 1537 those 3588 who were going 305 up to worship 4352 at the feast 1859;
12:21
these 3778 then 3767 came 4334 to Philip 5376, who 3588 was from Bethsaida 966 of Galilee 1056, and [began to] ask 2065 him, saying 3004, “Sir 2962, we wish 2309 to see 3708 Jesus 2424.”
12:22
Philip 5376 *came 2064 and *told 3004 Andrew 406; Andrew 406 and Philip 5376 *came 2064 and *told 3004 Jesus 2424.
12:23
And Jesus 2424 *answered 611 them, saying 3004, “The hour 5610 has come 2064 for the Son 5207 of Man 444 to be glorified 1392.
12:24
“Truly 281, truly 281, I say 3004 to you, unless 1437 3361 a grain 2848 of wheat 4621 falls 4098 into the earth 1093 and dies 599, it remains 3306 alone 3441; but if 1437 it dies 599, it bears 5342 much 4183 fruit 2590.
12:25
“He who loves 5368 his life 5590 loses 622 it, and he who hates 3404 his life 5590 in this 3778 world 2889 will keep 5442 it to life 2222 eternal 166.
12:26
“If 1437 anyone 5100 serves 1247 Me, he must follow 190 Me; and where 3699 I am 1510, there 1563 My servant 1249 will be also 2532; if 1437 anyone 5100 serves 1247 Me, the Father 3962 will honor 5091 him.
12:27
¶ “Now 3568 My soul 5590 has become troubled 5015; and what 5101 shall I say 3004, ‘Father 3962, save 4982 Me from this 3778 hour 5610’? But for this 3778 purpose I came 2064 to this 3778 hour 5610.
12:28
“Father 3962, glorify 1392 Your name 3686.” Then 3767 a voice 5456 came 2064 out of heaven 3772: “I have both 2532 glorified 1392 it, and will glorify 1392 it again 3825.”
12:29
So 3767 the crowd 3793 [of people] who stood 2476 by and heard 191 it were saying 3004 that it had thundered 1027 1096; others 243 were saying 3004, “An angel 32a has spoken 2980 to Him.”
12:30
Jesus 2424 answered 611 and said 3004, “This 3778 voice 5456 has not come 1096 for My sake 1223, but for your sakes 1223.
12:31
“Now 3568 judgment 2920 is upon this 3778 world 2889; now 3568 the ruler 758 of this 3778 world 2889 will be cast 1544b out.
12:32
“And I, if 1437 I am lifted 5312 up from the earth 1093, will draw 1670 all 3956 men 3956 to Myself 1683.”
12:33
But He was saying 3004 this 3778 to indicate 4591 the kind 4169 of death 2288 by which 4169 He was to die 599.
12:34
The crowd 3793 then 3767 answered 611 Him, “We have heard 191 out of the Law 3551 that the Christ 5547 is to remain 3306 forever 165; and how 4459 can You say 3004, ‘The Son 5207 of Man 444 must 1163 be lifted 5312 up’? Who 5101 is this 3778 Son 5207 of Man 444?”
12:35
So 3767 Jesus 2424 said 3004 to them, “For a little 3398 while 5550 longer 2089 the Light 5457 is among 1722 you. Walk 4043 while 5613 you have 2192 the Light 5457, so 2443 that darkness 4653 will not overtake 2638 you; he who walks 4043 in the darkness 4653 does not know 3609a where 4226 he goes 5217.
12:36
“While 5613 you have 2192 the Light 5457, believe 4100 in the Light 5457, so 2443 that you may become 1096 sons 5207 of Light 5457.” ¶ These 3778 things 3778 Jesus 2424 spoke 2980, and He went 565 away 565 and hid 2928 Himself from them.
12:37
But though He had performed 4160 so 5118 many 5118 signs 4592 before 1715 them, [yet] they were not believing 4100 in Him.
12:38
[This was] to fulfill 4137 the word 3056 of Isaiah 2268 the prophet 4396 which 3739 he spoke 3004: “LORD 2962, WHO 5101 HAS BELIEVED 4100 OUR REPORT 189? AND TO WHOM 5101 HAS THE ARM 1023 OF THE LORD 2962 BEEN REVEALED 601?”
12:39
For this 3778 reason 1223 they could 1410 not believe 4100, for Isaiah 2268 said 3004 again 3825,
12:40
“HE HAS BLINDED 5186 THEIR EYES 3788 AND HE HARDENED 4456 THEIR HEART 2588, SO 2443 3361 THAT THEY WOULD NOT SEE 3708 WITH THEIR EYES 3788 AND PERCEIVE 3539 WITH THEIR HEART 2588, AND BE CONVERTED 4762 AND I HEAL 2390 THEM.”
12:41
These 3778 things 3778 Isaiah 2268 said 3004 because 3754 he saw 3708 His glory 1391, and he spoke 2980 of Him.
12:42
Nevertheless 3676 3305 many 4183 even 2532 of the rulers 758 believed 4100 in Him, but because 1223 of the Pharisees 5330 they were not confessing 3670 [Him], for fear 2443 3361 that they would be put 656 out of the synagogue 656;
12:43
for they loved 25 the approval 1391 of men 444 rather 3123 than 2228 the approval 1391 of God 2316.
12:44
¶ And Jesus 2424 cried 2896 out and said 3004, “He who believes 4100 in Me, does not believe 4100 in Me but in Him who sent 3992 Me.
12:45
“He who sees 2334 Me sees 2334 the One who sent 3992 Me.
12:46
“I have come 2064 [as] Light 5457 into the world 2889, so 2443 that everyone 3956 who believes 4100 in Me will not remain 3306 in darkness 4653.
12:47
“If 1437 anyone 5100 hears 191 My sayings 4487 and does not keep 5442 them, I do not judge 2919 him; for I did not come 2064 to judge 2919 the world 2889, but to save 4982 the world 2889.
12:48
“He who rejects 114 Me and does not receive 2983 My sayings 4487, has 2192 one who judges 2919 him; the word 3056 I spoke 2980 is what 1565 will judge 2919 him at the last 2078 day 2250.
12:49
“For I did not speak 2980 on My own 1683 initiative 1683, but the Father 3962 Himself 846 who sent 3992 Me has given 1325 Me a commandment 1785 [as to] what 5101 to say 3004 and what 5101 to speak 2980.
12:50
“I know 3609a that His commandment 1785 is eternal 166 life 2222; therefore 3767 the things I speak 2980, I speak 2980 just 2531a as the Father 3962 has told 3004 Me.”
