John 11
1 Christ raiseth Lazarus, four days buried. 45 Many Jews believe. 47 The high priests and Pharisees gather a council against Christ. 49 Caiaphas prophesieth. 54 Jesus hid himself. 55 At the Passover they enquire after him, and lay wait for him.
11:1
Now 1161 a certain 5100 man 5100 was sick 770, Lazarus 2976 of Bethany 963, the village 2968 of Mary 3137 and her sister 79 Martha 3136.
11:2
It was the Mary 3137 who anointed 218b the Lord 2962 with ointment 3464, and wiped 1591 His feet 4228 with her hair 2359, whose 3739 brother 80 Lazarus 2976 was sick 770.
11:3
So 3767 the sisters 79 sent 649 [word] to Him, saying 3004, “Lord 2962, behold 2396, he whom 3739 You love 5368 is sick 770.”
11:4
But when Jesus 2424 heard 191 [this], He said 3004, “This 3778 sickness 769 is not to end 4314 in death 2288, but for the glory 1391 of God 2316, so 2443 that the Son 5207 of God 2316 may be glorified 1392 by it.”

Now 1161 Jesus 2424 loved 25 Martha 3136 and her sister 79 and Lazarus 2976.
11:6
So 3767 when 5613 He heard 191 that he was sick 770, He then 5119 stayed 3306 two 1417 days 2250 [longer] in the place 5117 where 3739 He was.
11:7
Then 1899 after 3326 this 3778 He *said 3004 to the disciples 3101, “Let us go 71 to Judea 2453 again 3825.”
11:8
The disciples 3101 *said 3004 to Him, “Rabbi 4461, the Jews 2453 were just 3568 now 3568 seeking 2212 to stone 3034 You, and are You going 5217 there 1563 again 3825?”
11:9
Jesus 2424 answered 611, “Are there 1563 not twelve 1427 hours 5610 in the day 2250? If 1437 anyone 5100 walks 4043 in the day 2250, he does not stumble 4350, because 3754 he sees 991 the light 5457 of this 3778 world 2889.
11:10
“But if 1437 anyone 5100 walks 4043 in the night 3571, he stumbles 4350, because 3754 the light 5457 is not in him.”
11:11
This 3778 He said 3004, and after 3326 that He *said 3004 to them, “Our friend 5384 Lazarus 2976 has fallen 2837 asleep 2837; but I go 4198, so 2443 that I may awaken 1852 him out of sleep 1852.”
11:12
The disciples 3101 then 3767 said 3004 to Him, “Lord 2962, if 1487 he has fallen 2837 asleep 2837, he will recover 4982.”
11:13
Now 1161 Jesus 2424 had spoken 3004 of his death 2288, but they thought 1380 that He was speaking 3004 of literal 2838 sleep 5258.
11:14
So 3767 Jesus 2424 then 3767 said 3004 to them plainly 3954, “Lazarus 2976 is dead 599,
11:15
and I am 5463 glad 5463 for your sakes 1223 that I was not there 1563, so 2443 that you may believe 4100; but let us go 71 to him.”
11:16
Therefore 3767 Thomas 2381, who is called 3004 Didymus 1324, said 3004 to [his] fellow 4827 disciples 4827, “Let us also 2532 go 71, so 3767 that we may die 599 with Him.”
11:17
¶ So 3767 when Jesus 2424 came 2064, He found 2147 that he had already 2235 been 2192 in the tomb 3419 four 5064 days 2250.
11:18
Now 1161 Bethany 963 was near 1451 Jerusalem 2414, about 5613 two 1178b miles 4712 off 575;
11:19
and many 4183 of the Jews 2453 had come 2064 to Martha 3136 and Mary 3137, to console 3888 them concerning 4012 [their] brother 80.
11:20
Martha 3136 therefore 3767, when 5613 she heard 191 that Jesus 2424 was coming 2064, went 5221 to meet 5221 Him, but Mary 3137 stayed 2516 at the house 3624.
11:21
Martha 3136 then 3767 said 3004 to Jesus 2424, “Lord 2962, if 1487 You had been 1510 here 5602, my brother 80 would not have died 599.
11:22
“Even 2532 now 3568 I know 3609a that whatever 3745 302 You ask 154 of God 2316, God 2316 will give 1325 You.”
11:23
Jesus 2424 *said 3004 to her, “Your brother 80 will rise 450 again 450.”
11:24
Martha 3136 *said 3004 to Him, “I know 3609a that he will rise 450 again 450 in the resurrection 386 on the last 2078 day 2250.”
11:25
Jesus 2424 said 3004 to her, “I am 1510 the resurrection 386 and the life 2222; he who believes 4100 in Me will live 2198 even 2579 if 2579 he dies 599,
11:26
and everyone 3956 who lives 2198 and believes 4100 in Me will never 3756 3361 die 599. Do you believe 4100 this 3778?”
11:27
She *said 3004 to Him, “Yes 3483a, Lord 2962; I have believed 4100 that You are the Christ 5547, the Son 5207 of God 2316, [even] He who comes 2064 into the world 2889.”
11:28
¶ When she had said 3004 this 3778, she went 565 away 565 and called 5455 Mary 3137 her sister 79, saying 3004 secretly 2977, “The Teacher 1320 is here 3918b and is calling 5455 for you.”
11:29
And when 5613 she heard 191 it, she *got 1453 up quickly 5035 and was coming 2064 to Him.
11:30
¶ Now 1161 Jesus 2424 had not yet 3768 come 2064 into the village 2968, but was still 2089 in the place 5117 where 3699 Martha 3136 met 5221 Him.
11:31
Then 3767 the Jews 2453 who were with her in the house 3614, and consoling 3888 her, when they saw 3708 that Mary 3137 got 450 up quickly 5030 and went 1831 out, they followed 190 her, supposing 1380 that she was going 5217 to the tomb 3419 to weep 2799 there 1563.
11:32
Therefore 3767, when 5613 Mary 3137 came 2064 where 3699 Jesus 2424 was, she saw 3708 Him, and fell 4098 at His feet 4228, saying 3004 to Him, “Lord 2962, if 1487 You had been 1510 here 5602, my brother 80 would not have died 599.”
11:33
When 5613 Jesus 2424 therefore 3767 saw 3708 her weeping 2799, and the Jews 2453 who came 4905 with her [also] weeping 2799, He was deeply 1690 moved 1690 in spirit 4151 and was troubled 5015,
11:34
and said 3004, “Where 4226 have you laid 5087 him?” They *said 3004 to Him, “Lord 2962, come 2064 and see 3708.”
11:35
Jesus 2424 wept 1145.
11:36
So 3767 the Jews 2453 were saying 3004, “See 2396 how 4459 He loved 5368 him!”
11:37
But some 5100 of them said 3004, “Could 1410 not this 3778 man 3778, who opened 455 the eyes 3788 of the blind 5185 man 3778, have 4160 kept 4160 this 3778 man 3778 also 2532 from dying 599?”
11:38
¶ So 3767 Jesus 2424, again 3825 being deeply 1690 moved 1690 within 1722 1438, *came 2064 to the tomb 3419. Now 1161 it was a cave 4693, and a stone 3037 was lying 1945 against 1909 it.
11:39
Jesus 2424 *said 3004, “Remove 142 the stone 3037.” Martha 3136, the sister 79 of the deceased 5053, *said 3004 to Him, “Lord 2962, by this 2235 time 2235 there will be a stench 3605, for he has been 1510 [dead] four 5066b days 5066b.”
11:40
Jesus 2424 *said 3004 to her, “Did I not say 3004 to you that if 1437 you believe 4100, you will see 3708 the glory 1391 of God 2316?”
11:41
So 3767 they removed 142 the stone 3037. Then 1161 Jesus 2424 raised 142 His eyes 3788, and said 3004, “Father 3962, I thank 2168 You that You have heard 191 Me.
11:42
“I knew 3609a that You always 3842 hear 191 Me; but because 1223 of the people 3793 standing 4026 around 4026 I said 3004 it, so 2443 that they may believe 4100 that You sent 649 Me.”
11:43
When He had said 3004 these 3778 things 3778, He cried 2905 out with a loud 3173 voice 5456, “Lazarus 2976, come 1204 forth 1854.”
11:44
The man who had died 2348 came 1831 forth 1831, bound 1210 hand 5495 and foot 4228 with wrappings 2750, and his face 3799 was wrapped 4019 around 4019 with a cloth 4676. Jesus 2424 *said 3004 to them, “Unbind 3089 him, and let 863 him go 5217.”

¶ Therefore 3767 many 4183 of the Jews 2453 who came 2064 to Mary 3137, and saw 2300 what 3739 He had done 4160, believed 4100 in Him.
11:46
But some 5100 of them went 565 to the Pharisees 5330 and told 3004 them the things which 3739 Jesus 2424 had done 4160.
11:47
¶ Therefore 3767 the chief 749 priests 749 and the Pharisees 5330 convened 4863 a council 4892, and were saying 3004, “What 5101 are we doing 4160? For this 3778 man 444 is performing 4160 many 4183 signs 4592.
11:48
“If 1437 we let 863 Him [go on] like 3779 this 3779, all 3956 men 3956 will believe 4100 in Him, and the Romans 4514 will come 2064 and take 142 away 142 both 2532 our place 5117 and our nation 1484.”
11:49
But one 1520 of them, Caiaphas 2533, who was high 749 priest 749 that year 1763, said 3004 to them, “You know 3609a nothing 3762 at all 3762,

nor 3761 do you take 3049 into account 3049 that it is expedient 4851a for you that one 1520 man 444 die 599 for the people 2992, and that the whole 3650 nation 1484 not perish 622.”
11:51
Now 1161 he did not say 3004 this 3778 on his own 1438 initiative 1438, but being 1510 high 749 priest 749 that year 1763, he prophesied 4395 that Jesus 2424 was going 3195 to die 599 for the nation 1484,
11:52
and not for the nation 1484 only 3440, but in order 2443 that He might also 2532 gather 4863 together 4863 into one 1520 the children 5043 of God 2316 who are scattered 1287 abroad 1287.
11:53
So 3767 from that day 2250 on they planned 1011 together 1011 to kill 615 Him.
11:54
¶ Therefore 3767 Jesus 2424 no 3765 longer 3765 continued to walk 4043 publicly 3954 among 1722 the Jews 2453, but went 565 away 565 from there 1564 to the country 5561 near 1451 the wilderness 2048, into a city 4172 called 3004 Ephraim 2187; and there 2546 He stayed 3306 with the disciples 3101.

¶ Now 1161 the Passover 3957 of the Jews 2453 was near 1451, and many 4183 went 305 up to Jerusalem 2414 out of the country 5561 before 4253 the Passover 3957 to purify 48 themselves 1438.

So 3767 they were seeking 2212 for Jesus 2424, and were saying 3004 to one 240 another 240 as they stood 2476 in the temple 2413, “What 5101 do you think 1380; that He will not come 2064 to the feast 1859 at all 3756 3361?”

Now 1161 the chief 749 priests 749 and the Pharisees 5330 had given 1325 orders 1785 that if 1437 anyone 5100 knew 1097 where 4226 He was, he was to report 3377 it, so 3704 that they might seize 4084 Him.
