And Zedekiah{gr.Sedekias} the son of Josiah{gr.Josias} reigned instead of Jehoiakim{gr.Joakim}, whom Nebuchadnezzar{gr.Nabuchodonosor} appointed to reign over Judah{gr.Juda}. |

of Jehoiakim,°
whom°
Nebuchadrezzar°
king°
of Babylon°
made king°°
in the land°
of Judah.° |

37:2
And he and his servants and the people of the land hearkened not to the words of the Lord, which he spoke by Jeremiah{gr.Jeremias}. |

But neither°
he,°
nor his servants,°
nor the people°
of the land,°
did hearken°°
unto°
the words°
of Yahweh,°
which°
he spake°°
by°
the prophet°
Jeremiah.° |

37:3
And king Zedekiah{gr.Sedekias} sent Joachal son of Shelemiah{gr.Selemias} and Zephaniah{gr.Sophonias} the priest son of Maaseiah{gr.Maasaeas} to Jeremiah{gr.Jeremias}, saying, Pray now for us to the Lord. |

and Zephaniah°

of Maaseiah°
the priest°
to°
the prophet°
Jeremiah,°
saying,°°
Pray°°
now°
unto°
Yahweh°
our Elohim°
for°
us. |

Now Jeremiah{gr.Jeremias} came and went through the midst of the city: for they [had] not put him into the house of the prison. |

Now Jeremiah°
came in°°
and went out°°
among°
the people:°
for they had not°
put°°
him into prison.°° |
|
37:5
And the host of Pharaoh{gr.Pharao} was come forth out of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}; and the Chaldeans heard the report of them, and they went up from Jerusalem. |

Then Pharaoh's°
army°
was come forth°°
out of Egypt:°°
and when the Chaldeans°
that besieged°°°
Jerusalem°
heard°°°
tidings°
of them, they departed°°
from°°
Jerusalem.° |

37:6 ¶
And the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah{gr.Jeremias}, saying, |

Then came°
the word°
of Yahweh°
unto°
the prophet°
Jeremiah,°
saying,°° |
|
37:7
Thus said the Lord; Thus shalt thou say to the king of Judah{gr.Juda} who sent to thee, to seek me; Behold, the army of Pharaoh{gr.Pharao} which is come forth to help you: they shall return to the land of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}: |

Thus°
saith°°
Yahweh,°
the Elohim°
of Israel;°
Thus°
shall ye say°°
to°
the king°
of Judah,°
that sent°°
you unto°
me to enquire°°
of me; Behold,°
Pharaoh's°
army,°
which is come forth°°
to help°
you, shall return°°
to Egypt°
into their own land.° |

and the Chaldeans themselves shall turn again, and fight against this city, and take it, and burn it with fire. |

And the Chaldeans°
shall come again,°°
and fight°°
against°
this°
city,°
and take°°
it, and burn°°
it with fire.° |

37:9
For thus saith he Lord; Suppose not in your hearts, saying, The Chaldeans will certainly depart from us: for they shall not depart. |
|

Thus°
saith°°
Yahweh;°
Deceive°°
not°
yourselves,°
saying,°°
The Chaldeans°
shall surely°°
depart°°°
from°°
us: for°
they shall not°
depart.°°° |

37:10
And though ye should smite the whole host of the Chaldeans that fight against you, and there should be left a few wounded [men], these should rise up each in his place, and burn this city with fire. |
|

For°
though°
ye had smitten°°
the whole°
army°
of the Chaldeans°
that fight°°
against°
you, and there remained°°
[but] wounded°°
men°°
among them, [yet] should they rise°
up°°
every man°
in his tent,°
and burn°°°
this°
city°
with fire.° |

37:11 ¶
And it came to pass, when the host of the Chaldeans had gone up from Jerusalem for fear of the host of Pharaoh{gr.Pharao}, |

And it came to pass,°
that when the army°
of the Chaldeans°
was broken up°°
from°°
Jerusalem°
for fear°°
of Pharaoh's°
army,° |

37:12
that Jeremiah{gr.Jeremias} went forth from Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, to buy thence [a property] in the midst of the people. |

Then Jeremiah°
went forth°°
out of Jerusalem°°
to go°°°
into the land°
of Benjamin,°
to separate°°
himself°
thence°°
in the midst°
of the people.° |

37:13
And he was in the gate of Benjamin, and [there was] there a man with whom he lodged, Zeruiah{gr.Saruia} the son of Shelemiah{gr.Selemias}, the son of Hananiah{gr.Ananias}; and he caught Jeremiah{gr.Jeremias}, saying, Thou art fleeing to the Chaldeans. |

And when he°
was°
in the gate°
of Benjamin,°
a captain°
of the ward°
[was] there,°
whose name°
[was] Irijah,°
the son°
of Shelemiah,°
the son°
of Hananiah;°
and he took°°°
Jeremiah°
the prophet,°
saying,°°
Thou°
fallest away°°
to°
the Chaldeans.° |

And he said, [It is] false; I do not flee to the Chaldeans. But he hearkened not to him; and Zeruiah{gr.Saruia} caught Jeremiah{gr.Jeremias}, and brought him to the princes. |

Then said°°
Jeremiah,°
[It is] false;°
I fall°
not°
away°°
to°
the Chaldeans.°
But he hearkened°°
not°
to°
him: so Irijah°
took°°
Jeremiah,°
and brought°°
him to°
the princes.° |

37:15
And the princes were very angry with Jeremiah{gr.Jeremias}, and smote him, and sent him into the house of Jonathan the scribe: for they had made this a prison. |
|

Wherefore the princes°
were wroth°°
with°
Jeremiah,°
and smote°°
him, and put°°
him in prison°°
in the house°
of Jonathan°
the scribe:°°
for°
they had made°°
that the prison.°° |

37:16 ¶
So Jeremiah{gr.Jeremias} came into the dungeon, and into the cells, and he remained there many days. |

When°
Jeremiah°
was entered°°
into°
the dungeon,°°
and into°
the cabins,°
and Jeremiah°
had remained°°
there°
many°
days;° |

Then Zedekiah{gr.Sedekias} sent, and called him; and the king asked him secretly, saying, Is there a word from the Lord? and he said, There is: thou shalt be delivered into the hands of the king of Babylon. |

Then Zedekiah°
the king°
sent,°°
and took°
him out:°°
and the king°
asked°°
him secretly°
in his house,°
and said,°°
Is there°
[any] word°
from°°
Yahweh?°
And Jeremiah°
said,°°
There is:°
for, said°°
he, thou shalt be delivered°°
into the hand°
of the king°
of Babylon.° |

And Jeremiah{gr.Jeremias} said to the king, Wherein have I wronged thee, or thy servants, or this people, that thou puttest me in prison? |

Moreover Jeremiah°
said°°
unto°
king°
Zedekiah,°
What°
have I offended°°
against thee, or against thy servants,°
or against this°
people,°
that°
ye have put°°
me in°
prison?°° |

37:19
And where are your prophets who prophesied to you saying, The king of Babylon shall not come against this land? |

Where°
[are] now°
your prophets°
which°
prophesied°°
unto you, saying,°°
The king°
of Babylon°
shall not°
come°°
against°
you, nor against°
this°
land?° |

37:20
Now therefore, my lord the king, let my supplication come before thy face: and why dost thou send me back to the house of Jonathan the scribe? and let me not on any account die there. |

Therefore hear°°
now,°
I pray thee,°
O my adon°
the king:°
let my supplication,°
I pray thee,°
be accepted°°
before°
thee; that thou cause me not°
to return°°
to the house°
of Jonathan°
the scribe,°°
lest°
I die°°
there.° |

37:21
Then the king commanded, and they cast him into the prison, and gave him a loaf a day out of the place where they bake, until the bread failed out of the city. So Jeremiah{gr.Jeremias} continued in the court of the prison. |

Then Zedekiah°
the king°
commanded°°
that they should commit°°°
Jeremiah°
into the court°
of the prison,°
and that they should give°°
him daily°
a piece°
of bread°
out of the bakers'°°
street,°°
until°
all°
the bread°
in°
the city°
were spent.°°
Thus Jeremiah°
remained°°
in the court°
of the prison.° |
