 8:1 ¶ AND it was after these things that Jeshu itinerated among the cities and villages, and preached and announced the kingdom of Aloha, and his twelve with him,

 8:1 And after these things Jesus travelled about the cities and the villages, and proclaimed and announced the kingdom of God. And with him were his twelve [disciples],

 8:2 and those women who had been healed from infirmities and from evil spirits, Mariam who was called Magdalitha, she from whom he had cast out seven devils,

 8:2 and those women who were healed of infirmities and of unclean spirits, Mary called Magdalena, out of whom went seven demons,

 8:3 and Juchana the wife of Kusa, chief of the household of Herodes, and Shushan, and many others, who ministered unto him from their possessions.

 8:3 and Joanna the wife of Chusa, Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, who ministered to them of their property.

 8:4 And when a great multitude had assembled, and from all the cities had come to him, he discoursed in parables.

 8:4 And when a great multitude was assembled, and people came to him from all the cities, he said, in similitudes:

 8:5 A sower went forth to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell by the road-side; and it was trodden down, and the fowl devoured it.

 8:6 And other fell upon the rock; and it immediately sprang up, and, because it had no moisture, it withered.

 8:9 And his disciples asked him, What is (the signification of) this parable?

 8:9 And his disciples asked him: what meaneth this similitude?

 8:10 But he said to them, To you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of Aloha; but to those who are the rest in similitudes is it spoken; that while seeing they may not see, and while hearing they may not understand.

 8:10 And he said to them: To you it is given, to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God; but to others, it is spoken in allegories; that, while seeing, they may not see, and while hearing, may not understand.

 8:11 But this is the parable: The seed is the word of Aloha.

 8:11 But this is the similitude: The seed is the word of God.

 8:12 Now they by the road-side are they who hear the word; and the adversary cometh, and taketh up the word from their hearts, that they should not believe and be saved.

 8:12 And those by the side of the path, are they that hear the word, and the enemy cometh and taketh the word out of their heart, that they may not believe and live.

 8:13 But those who fell upon the rock are those who, when they hear, with joy receive the word; yet root they have not, but for a time is their faith, and in the time of temptation they are offended.

 8:13 And those upon the rock, are they who, when they hear, receive the word with joy: but they have no root in them, and their faith is temporary, and in time of temptation they are stumbled.

 8:14 But that which fell among thorns are they who hear the word, and by the cares, and by the riches, and by the lusts of the world, they are choked, and fruit they give not.

 8:14 And that which fell among thorns, are those who hear the word, but are choked by cares, and by riches, and by worldly desires, and bear no fruits.

 8:15 But that which (was) in good ground are they who, with hearts humble and good, hear the word and retain, and give fruits with perseverance.

 8:15 And that on good ground, are those who, with a humble and good heart, hear the word, and retain it, and with patience bring forth fruits.

 8:16 ¶ NO man lighteth a lamp, and covereth it with a measure, or setteth it under a bed; but setteth it upon a candlestick, that every one who cometh in may see the light of it.

 8:16 No one lighteth a lamp, and covereth it with a vessel, or placeth it under a bed, but setteth it upon a light-stand, that all who come in, may see the light of it.

 8:17 For there is nothing hidden which shall not be revealed, and nothing secret that shall not be known and come into openness.

 8:17 For there is nothing covered, that shall not be uncovered; nor concealed, that shall not be known and become manifest.

 8:18 Take heed how you hear: for unto him who hath, it shall be given; and from him who hath not, that also which he thinketh that he hath shall be taken from him.

 8:18 Take heed how ye hear: for to him that hath, shall be given; and from him that hath not, shall be taken even what he thinketh he hath.

 8:19 Now came to him his mother and his brethren, and could not speak with him on account of the assembly.

 8:19 And his mother and his brothers came to him, and they could not speak with him, because of the multitude.

 8:20 And they said to him, Thy mother and thy brethren are standing without, desiring to see thee.

 8:20 And they say to him: Thy mother and thy brothers stand without, and wish to see thee.

 8:21 But he answered and said to them, These are my mother and my brethren, they who hear the word of Aloha, and do it.

 8:21 And he answered and said: My mother and my brothers, are they who hear the word of God, and do it.

 8:22 ¶ NOW it was on one of the days that Jeshu ascended and sat in a vessel and his disciples: and he said to them, Let us pass to the other side of the water.

 8:22 And on a certain day Jesus embarked and sat in a ship, he and his disciples. And he said to them; Let us pass over to the other side of the sea.

 8:23 But as they went, Jeshu himself slept. And there became a storm of wind on the water, and nigh was the vessel to be swallowed up.

 8:23 And while they were rowing, Jesus fell asleep. And there was a tempest of wind on the sea; and the ship was near to sinking.

 8:24 And they approached (and) awoke him, saying to him, Our master, our master, we perish! But he arose and rebuked the winds and the waves of the sea; and they quieted, and there was a calm.

 8:24 And they came and awaked him, and said to him: Our Rabbi, our Rabbi, we are perishing! And he arose, and rebuked the winds and the agitations of the water; and they ceased, and there was a calm.

 8:25 And he said to them, Where is your faith? But they, afraid, wondered, saying one with another, Who is this that also commandeth the winds, and to whom the waves and the sea are obedient?

 8:25 And he said to them: Where is your faith? And they being in awe, wondered, and said one to another: Who is this, that commandeth even the winds, and the waves, and the sea; and they obey him?

 8:26 And they went forward and came to the country of the Godroyee, which is over against Galila.

 8:26 And they rowed on, and came to the country of the Gadarenes, which lieth over against Galilee.

 8:27 And when he had gone forth to the land, there met him a certain man from the city, who had a devil in him a great time, and (who) wore no clothes, and in a house dwelt not, but in the place of the buried.

 8:27 And when he went out upon the land, there, met him a man of the city, in whom had been a demon for a long time; and he wore no clothing, and did not reside in a house, but among the tombs.

 8:28 But when he saw Jeshu, he cried out, and fell before him, and said in a high voice, What to us and to thee, Jeshu, son of Aloha Marima? I beseech of thee, torment me not.

 8:28 And when he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and said, with a loud voice: What have we to do with thee? Jesus, thou Son of the exalted God. I entreat of thee, torment me not.

 8:29 For Jeshu commanded the unclean spirit to come forth from the man. For long was the time that he had been enthralled of him; and (when) bound with chains, and kept with fetters, he had burst asunder his bonds, and had been driven by the demon into the waste.

 8:29 For Jesus had commanded the unclean spirit, to come out of the man: for, of a long time he had been held captive by him; and he had been bound with chains, and held in fetters; but he had burst the bonds, and had been driven by the demon into the desert.

 8:30 And Jeshu demanded of him, What is thy name? He saith to him, Legion: because that many devils had entered into him.

 8:34 And when the herdmen saw the thing that was done, they fled, and made known in the city and in the villages.

 8:35 And the men went forth to see the thing which was done. And they came to Jeshu, and found the man from whom the demons had gone out, clothed, sober, and sitting at the feet of Jeshu. And they feared.

 8:35 And the men went out to see what was done. And they came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the demons had gone, now clothed, and modest, and sitting at the feet of Jesus; and they were awed.

 8:36 And they who had seen it showed to them how the man of the demon had been healed.

 8:36 And they that saw [it], related to them in what manner the demoniac was cured.

 8:37 And the whole multitude of the Godroyee besought of Jeshu that he would go from them, because great fear had taken them. And he, Jeshu, ascended the ship, and returned from them.

 8:37 And the whole throng of the Gadarenes requested him, that he would depart from them: for great fear had seized them. And Jesus embarked in a ship, and retired from among them.

 8:38 But he, the man from whom had gone forth the demons, besought of him that he might be with him. But Jeshu dismissed him, and said to him,

 8:38 And the man, from whom the demons had gone out, requested that he might remain with him. But Jesus dismissed him, and said to him:

 8:39 Return to thine house, and show what Aloha hath done for thee. And he went and proclaimed in every city what Jeshu had done for him.

 8:39 Return to thy home, and relate what God hath done for thee. And he went away, and proclaimed through all the city what Jesus had done for him.

 8:40 ¶ WHEN Jeshu returned, a great multitude received him: for they were all expecting him.

 8:40 And when Jesus returned, a great multitude received him; for all were looking for him.

 8:41 And a certain man whose name was Jorush, head of the synagogue, fell before the feet of Jeshu, and besought him to enter into his house;

 8:41 And a man, whose name was Jairus, a chief of the synagogue, fell down at the feet of Jesus, and besought him to enter his house;

 8:42 for he had an only daughter, as a daughter of twelve years, and she was nigh unto death. And as Jeshu went with him, the great multitude pressed him.

 8:42 for he had an only daughter, about twelve years old, and she was near dying. And as Jesus went with him, a great multitude pressed upon him.

 8:43 And a certain woman whose blood had gushed forth twelve years, she who among the physicians had spent all her substance, but could not be healed by any one,

 8:43 And a certain woman, whose blood had flowed twelve years, and who had expended all her property among physicians, and could not be cured by any one,

 8:44 approached him from behind, and touched the border of his garment, and immediately stood the flowing of her blood.

 8:45 And Jeshu said, Who touched me? And when all denied, Shemun Kipha and those with him said, Raban, the crowd straiteneth and presseth thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?

 8:45 And Jesus said: Who touched me? And when all denied, Simon Cephas and those with him said to him: Our Rabbi, crowds press upon thee and sayest thou, Who touched me?

 8:46 But he said, Some one hath touched me, for I know that power hath gone forth from me.

 8:46 And he said: Some one touched me; for I perceive, that energy hath gone out from me.

 8:47 And she, the woman, when she saw that she was not hid, came trembling and fell (and) worshipped him. And she told before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how at once she had been healed.

 8:47 And the woman, when she saw that she had not escaped his notice, came trembling, and fell down and worshipped him. And in the presence of all the people, she declared for what cause she had touched him, and that she was instantly healed.

 8:48 But he, Jeshu, said to her, Be comforted, my daughter: thy faith hath saved thee, go in peace.

 8:48 And Jesus said to her: Take courage, my daughter: Thy faith hath given thee life: Go in peace.

 8:49 And while he was speaking, there came a man from the chief of the synagogue and said to him, Thy daughter is dead, weary not the Malphona.

 8:49 And while he was speaking, one came from the house of the chief of the synagogue, and said to him: Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the teacher.

 8:50 But Jeshu heard, and said to the father of the damsel, Fear not, only believe, and she lives!

 8:50 And Jesus heard [it], and said to the father of the maid: Fear not; believe only, and she will live.

 8:51 But Jeshu came to the house, and he suffered no man to enter with him, save Shemun, and Jakub, and Juchanon, and the father of the damsel, and her mother.

 8:51 And Jesus came to the house; and he suffered none to go in with him, except Simon, and James, and John, and the father and mother of the maid.

 8:52 And they were all weeping and wailing for her; but Jeshu said, Weep not, for she is not dead, but asleep.

 8:52 And all were weeping and wailing over her. And Jesus said: Weep not; for she is not dead, but sleepeth

 8:53 And they laughed at him, for they knew that she was dead.

 8:53 And they derided him, knowing that she was dead.

 8:54 But he put every man forth without. And he took her by the hand, and called and said, Damsel, arise.

 8:54 And he put every one out, and took her by the hand, and called, and said: Maid, arise.

 8:55 And her spirit returned, and she arose. And he directed that they should give her to eat.

 8:55 And her spirit returned, and she instantly arose. And he directed them to give her food.

 8:56 And her parents were astonished; but he cautioned them that no man they should tell what he had done.
