 19:2 And the soldiers entwined a crown of thorns, and set it on his head; and they covered him with robes of purple,

 19:3 and said, Hail to thee, King of the Jihudoyee! and struck him upon his cheeks.

 19:4 And Pilatos came again forth, and said to them, Behold, I bring him to you forth, that you may know that I find nothing against him, nor one cause (of death).

 19:5 ¶ AND Jeshu came forth, having on him the crown of thorns and the robes of purple. And Pilatos said to them, Behold the man!

 19:7 The Jihudoyee say to him, We have a law, and, according to our law, he is guilty of death, because he made himself the son of Aloha.

 19:8 When Pilatos heard that word, he the more feared.

 19:10 Pilate said to him: Wilt thou not speak to me? Knowest thou not, that I have authority to release thee, and have authority to crucify thee?

 19:11 Jeshu saith to him, Thou against ME hast no power, no not any, unless it hath been given to thee from above: wherefore he who delivered me to thee hath a sin greater than thine.

 19:11 Jesus said to him: Thou wouldst have no authority at all over me, if it were not given to thee from on high: therefore his sin who delivered me up to thee, is greater than thine.

 19:12 On this account Pilatos willed to release him: but the Jihudoyee cried out, If this (man) thou releasest, thou art not the friend of Cesar: for whosoever maketh himself a king is the adversary of Cesar.

 19:12 And for this reason, Pilate was disposed to release him. But the Jews cried out: If thou release this man, thou art not Caesar's friend: for whoever maketh himself a king, is the adversary of Caesar.

 19:13 But when Pilatos heard that word, he brought Jeshu without, and sat down upon the tribunal in the place which is called the Pavement of Stones, but in Hebrew it is called Gaphiphtha.

 19:13 And when Pilate heard this declaration, he brought Jesus forth, and sat upon the tribunal, in a place called the pavement of stones; but in Hebrew it is called Gabbatha.

 19:14 And it was the preparation for the petscha.

 19:14 And it was the preparation for the passover; and it was about the sixth hour. And he said to the Jews: Behold, your king.

 19:15 ¶ AND it was about the sixth hour. And he said to the Jihudoyee, Behold your king! But they cried out, Take him away, take him away! crucify him, crucify him! Pilatos saith to them, Your king shall I crucify? The chief priests say to him, We have no king but Cesar.

 19:15 But they cried out: Away with him, away with him; hang him, hang him. Pilate said to them: Shall I crucify your king? The chief priests said to him: We have no king, but Caesar.

 19:16 Then delivered he him to them, that they might crucify him. And they took Jeshu, and led him forth,

 19:20 And this title many of the Jihudoyee read; for nigh to the city was the place where Jeshu was crucified; and the writing was in Hebrew and Greek and Roman.

 19:20 And many of the Jews read this label; because the place where Jesus was crucified, was near to Jerusalem; and it was written in Hebrew and Greek and Latin.

 19:21 And the chief priests said to Pilatos, Do not write that he is king of the Jihudoyee, but that he said, I am the king of the Jihudoyee.

 19:21 And the chief priests said to Pilate: Write not that he is king of the Jews, but that he said I am king of the Jews.

 19:22 Pilatos saith, That which I have written, I have written.

 19:22 Pilate said: What I have written, I have written.

 19:23 ¶ BUT the soldiers, when they had crucified Jeshu, took his vestments and made four parts, a part unto each one of the soldiers: but his tunic was without seam, from the top woven all of it.

 19:23 And the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments and made four parcels of them, a parcel for each of the soldiers. And his tunic was without seam from the top, woven throughout.

 19:24 And they said one to another, Let us not rend it, but play for it by playing, (to decide) whose it shall be: and fulfilled was the scripture which had said, They divided my garments among them, And upon my raiment did they cast the lot. These things did the soldiers.

 19:24 And they said one to another: We will not rend it, but will cast the lot upon it, whose it shall he. And the scripture was fulfilled, which said: They divided my garments among them; and upon my venture they cast the lot. These things did the soldiers.

 19:25 But there stood by the cross of Jeshu his mother, and the sister of his mother, and Mariam, she who was (the wife) of Cleopha, and Mariam Magdalitha.

 19:25 And there were standing near the cross of Jesus, his mother, and his mother's sister, and Mary [the wife] of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalena.

 19:26 Jeshu seeth his mother, and that disciple whom he loved, standing; and he said to his mother, Woman, behold thy son!

 19:27 and he said to that disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple received her to be with him.

 19:28 After these Jeshu knew that every thing would be accomplished, and, that the scripture might be fulfilled, said, I thirst.

 19:29 And a vessel was set (there) filled with vinegar: then they filled a sponge from the vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and offered it to his mouth.

 19:31 ¶ THE Jihudoyee, because it was the preparation, said, Let not these bodies remain-all-night upon the cross, because the shabath has lighted: for a great day was the day of that shabath. And they besought of Pilatos that they should break the legs of those (who had been) crucified, and take them down.

 19:31 And because it was the preparation, the Jews said: These bodies must not remain all night upon the cross: because the sabbath was dawning; and the day of that sabbath was a great day. And they requested of Pilate, that they should break the legs of those crucified, and take them down.

 19:32 And the soldiers came, and brake the legs of the first, and of that other who was crucified with him;

 19:38 After these things, Joseph of Ramath, (for he was a disciple of Jesus, and kept concealed through fear of the Jews,) requested of Pilate, that he might take away the body of Jesus. And Pilate permitted. And he came, and bore away the body of Jesus.

 19:39 And Nikodimos also came, he who at first had come to Jeshu by night, and he brought with him a condiment of myrrh and aloes, as a hundred lithreen.

 19:39 And there came also Nicodemus, (he who previously came to Jesus by night,) and he brought with him a compound of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds.

 19:40 And they took the body of Jeshu, and wrapped it in cloths and in balsams, as is the manner of the Jihudoyee to bury.

 19:40 and they bore away the body of Jesus, and wound it in linens and aromatics, as it is the custom of the Jews to bury.

 19:41 Now in that place where Jeshu was crucified was a garden, and in the garden a new sepulchre where one yet had not been laid.

 19:41 And there was a garden in the place where Jesus was crucified, and in the garden a new sepulchre in which no person had ever been laid.

 19:42 And they laid there Jeshu, because the shabath was coming in and the sepulchre was near.
