 6:1 ¶ AFTER these Jeshu went over the Sea of Galila of Tiberios,

 6:1 After these things, Jesus went to the other side of the sea of Galilee [or] of Tiberias.

 6:2 and great multitudes went after him, because they had seen the signs which he wrought on the diseased.

 6:2 And great multitudes went after him; because they had seen the signs which he wrought upon the sick.

 6:3 And Jeshu ascended a mountain, and there sat with his disciples.

 6:3 And Jesus ascended a mountain, and there he seated himself with his disciples.

 6:4 Now the feast of the petscha of the Jihudoyee drew nigh.

 6:4 And the feast of the Jewish passover was near.

 6:5 And Jeshu lifted up his eyes, and saw the great assembly which had come to him; and he said to Philipos, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?

 6:6 But this he said trying him; for he knew what he was about to do.

 6:7 Philipos saith to him, Two hundred dinoreen of bread is not sufficient for them, that a little every one of them may take.

 6:7 Philip said to him: Two hundred denarii in bread would not suffice them, that each might take but a little.

 6:8 One of his disciples, Andrew, the brother of Simon Cephas, said to him:

 6:9 There is here a certain youth, who hath with him five cakes of barley and two fishes; but these what are they for these all?

 6:9 There is a lad here, who hath with him five cakes of barley, and two fishes; but what are these for all those [people]?

 6:10 Jeshu saith to them, Make all the men recline; for there was much herbage in that place. And the men reclined, in number five thousand.

 6:10 Jesus said to them: Make all the people recline. Now there was much grass in that place: and the people reclined, in number five thousand.

 6:11 And Jeshu took the bread, and blessed, and divided unto those who reclined, and likewise also of the fishes, as much as they willed.

 6:11 And Jesus took the bread, and blessed, and distributed to them that reclined. And so also, with the fish; as much as they desired.

 6:12 And when they were satisfied, he said to his disciples, Gather the fragments that abound, that nothing be lost;

 6:12 And when they were satisfied, he said to his disciples: Gather up the fragments which remain, that nothing be lost.

 6:13 and they gathered and filled twelve baskets of fragments, those which abounded unto them who had eaten of the five loaves of barley.

 6:13 And they collected and filled twelve baskets, with fragments of what remained to them that had eaten of the five barley cakes.

 6:14 But those men, when they had seen the sign which Jeshu had wrought, said, Truly this is the Prophet that cometh into the world.

 6:14 And those people, when they saw the sign which Jesus had wrought, said: Certainly, this is that prophet who was to come into the world.

 6:15 But when Jeshu knew that they were about to come to seize him and make him the King, he passed away to a mountain alone.

 6:15 And Jesus knew, that they were about to come and take him by force, and make him king: and he retired into a mountain alone.

 6:16 ¶ AND when it was eventide, his disciples went down to the sea.

 6:16 And when it was evening, his disciples went down to the sea,

 6:17 And they sat in a vessel, and went over for Kapher-nachum. And it was dark, and Jeshu had not come to them.

 6:17 and sat in a ship, and were going over to Capernaum. And darkness came on, and Jesus had not come to them.

 6:18 But the sea had risen against them, because a great wind blew.

 6:18 And the sea was boisterous against them, for a violent wind was blowing.

 6:19 And they had led stadia twentyfive or thirty, and they saw Jeshu walking upon the sea, and drawing nigh to the vessel; and they feared.

 6:19 And they had gone about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, when they saw Jesus walking upon the sea: and as he drew near to the ship, they were afraid.

 6:20 But Jeshu himself said to them, I am, fear not.

 6:20 But Jesus said to them: It is I; be not afraid.

 6:21 And they willed to receive him into the vessel, and soon that vessel was at that land to which they were going.

 6:21 And they were glad to receive him into the ship. And, directly, the ship was at the land to which they were going.

 6:22 The day after the people that stood on the opposite shore of the sea saw that there was not another vessel there except that into which the disciples had ascended, and that Jeshu had not entered with his disciples into the vessel;

 6:22 And the next day, the multitude, who had remained on the other side of the sea, saw that there was no other ship there, except that in which the disciples embarked, and that Jesus did not embark in that ship with his disciples;

 6:23 but there came other boats from Tiberios near the place, where they did eat bread when Jeshu had blessed.

 6:23 yet that other ships had come from Tiberias, near to the place where they ate the bread when Jesus blessed [it].

 6:24 And when that company saw that Jeshu was not there nor his disciples, they ascended into those boats, and came to Kapher-nachum. And they sought Jeshu;

 6:24 And when the multitude saw, that Jesus was not there, nor his disciples; they embarked in ships, and came to Capernaum, and sought for Jesus.

 6:25 and when they had found him on the opposite side of the sea, they say to him, Raban, when camest thou hither?

 6:25 And when they found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him: Our Rabbi, when camest thou hither?

 6:26 Jeshu answered and said to them, Amen, amen, I tell you, You seek me, not because you considered the signs, but because you did eat the bread, and were satisfied.

 6:26 Jesus replied and said to them: Verily, verily, I say to you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the signs, but because ye ate the bread and were satisfied.

 6:27 Work not (for) the food which perisheth, but (for) the food that endureth unto the life that is eternal, which the Son of man shall give to you: for this hath the Father sealed, (even) Aloha.

 6:27 Labor not for the food that perisheth, but for the food that abideth unto life eternal, which the Son of man will give to you; for him hath God the Father sealed.

 6:28 They say to him, What shall we do that we may work the works of Aloha?

 6:28 They said to him: What shall we do, in order to work the works of God?

 6:29 Jeshu answered and said to them, This is the work of Aloha, that you believe in Him whom he hath sent.

 6:29 Jesus replied and said to them: This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

 6:30 ¶ THEY say to him, What sign doest thou that we may see, and believe in thee? What performest thou?

 6:30 They say to him: What sign doest thou, that we may see and believe in thee? What workest thou?

 6:31 Our fathers manna did eat in the desert, as it is written, that bread from heaven be gave them to eat.

 6:31 Our fathers ate the manna, in the wilderness; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.

 6:32 Jeshu saith to them, Amen, amen, I tell you, That Musha gave you not that bread from heaven, but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven:

 6:32 Jesus said to them: Verily, verily, I say to you, Moses gave you not the bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the real bread from heaven.

 6:33 for the bread of Aloha is He who hath descended from heaven, and giveth life to the world.

 6:33 For the bread of God is, he that came down from heaven, and giveth life to the world.

 6:34 They say to him, Our Lord, at all time give us this bread.

 6:34 They say to him: Our Lord, give us at all times this bread.

 6:35 Jeshu saith to them, I am the bread of life: he who cometh to me shall not hunger, and he who believeth in me shall not thirst, for ever.

 6:35 Jesus said to them: I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me, shall not hunger; and he that believeth on me, shall not thirst, for ever.

 6:36 But I have told you that you have seen me, and have not believed.

 6:36 But I said to you, That ye have seen me, and do not believe.

 6:37 Every one whom the Father hath given me, unto me will come; and him who unto me shall come, I will not cast out.

 6:37 All that my Father gave me, will come to me: and him, that cometh to me, I will not cast out.

 6:38 I descended from heaven not to do mine own will, but the will of Him who sent me.

 6:38 For I came down from heaven, not to do my own pleasure, but the pleasure of him that sent me.

 6:39 But this is the will of my Father who sent me, that of all whom he hath given me I shall lose not of him, but shall raise him at the last day.

 6:39 And this is the pleasure of him that sent me, that whatever he hath given me, I should lose nothing of it, but should raise it up at the last day.

 6:40 For this is the will of my Father, that every one who seeth the Son and believeth on him, shall have the life that is eternal, and I will raise him at the last day.

 6:40 For this is the pleasure of my Father, that every one who seeth the Son, and believeth on him, should have life eternal; and I will raise him up at the last day.

 6:41 But the Jihudoyee murmured against him because he said, I am the bread which hath descended from heaven.

 6:41 Then the Jews murmured at him, because he said: I am the bread, who have descended from heaven.

 6:42 And they said, Is not this Jeshu bar Jauseph, he whose father and mother we know? and how saith this, From heaven I have descended?

 6:42 And they said: Is not this Jesus the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? And how doth he say: I came down from heaven?

 6:43 Jeshu answered and said to them, Murmur not one with another.

 6:43 Jesus replied and said to them: Murmur not, one with another.

 6:44 No man can come to me unless the Father who sent me shall attract him, and I will raise him at the last day.

 6:44 No man can come to me, unless the Father who sent me, shall draw him; and I will raise him up at the last day.

 6:45 It is written in the prophet, that they shall be all taught of Aloha: every one, therefore, who hath heard from the Father and learned of him, cometh unto me.

 6:45 For it is written, in the prophet: And they shall all be taught of God. Whoever, therefore, heareth from the Father, and learneth from him, cometh to me.

 6:46 There is no man who hath seen the Father, but he who is from Aloha, he hath seen the Father.

 6:46 Not that any one hath seen the Father, except him who hath come from God; he it is, hath seen the Father.

 6:47 ¶ AMEN, amen, I say to you, Whosoever believeth in me hath the life which is eternal.

 6:47 Verily, verily, I say to you: That, to him who believeth in me, there is life eternal.

 6:48 I am the bread of life.

 6:52 The Jihudoyee contended one with another, saying, How can this his body give to us to eat?

 6:53 And Jeshu said to them, Amen, amen, I tell you, That unless you eat the body of the Son of man, and drink his blood, you have no life in yourselves.

 6:53 And Jesus said to them: Verily, verily, I say to you, That, unless ye eat the body of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life within you.

 6:54 He who eateth of my body, and drinketh of my blood, hath the life which is eternal, and I will raise him at the last day.

 6:54 But he that eateth of my body, and drinketh of my blood, to him is life eternal; and I will raise him up at the last day

 6:55 For my body is truly food, and my blood is truly drink.

 6:55 For my body truly is food, and my blood truly is drink.

 6:56 He who eateth my body, and drinketh my blood, abideth in me, and I in him.

 6:58 This is the bread which hath descended from heaven. Not as was the manna that your fathers ate, and are dead; he who eateth of this bread shall live for ever.

 6:58 This is the bread that came down from heaven: not as your fathers ate the manna, and died; whoever shall eat of this bead, will live for ever.

 6:59 These things he spake in the synagogue, as he taught in Kapher-nachum.

 6:59 These things he uttered in the synagogue, while teaching at Capernaum.

 6:60 And many of his disciples who heard said, A hard word is this: who can hear it?

 6:60 And many of his disciples who heard [him], said: This is a hard speech, who can hear it.

 6:61 ¶ BUT Jeshu knew in himself that his disciples murmured concerning this; and he said to them, Does this stumble you?

 6:61 And Jesus knew in himself, that his disciples murmured at this; and he said to them, Doth this stumble you?

 6:62 If you shall see then the Son of man ascend up to the place where he was from the first?

 6:62 If then, ye were to see the Son of man ascend, to where he was from the beginning!

 6:63 It is the Spirit that maketh alive, the body profiteth nothing: the words which I have spoken to you, they are spirit and they are life.

 6:63 It is the Spirit that vivifieth; the body profiteth nothing. The words which I have used with you, they are spirit, and they are life.

 6:64 But there are some of you who do not believe. For Jeshu knew from the first who they were who believed not, and who it was who would betray him.

 6:64 But there are some of you, that believe not. For Jesus knew, from the beginning, who they were that believed not, and who it was that would betray him.

 6:65 And he said to them, On account of this I told you that no man can come to me, unless it be given him of my Father.

 6:65 And he said to them: For this reason, I said to you, That no one can come to me, unless it be given to him by my Father.

 6:66 On account of this word many of his disciples went back, and walked not with him.

 6:66 On account of this speech, many of his disciples turned back, and walked not with him.

 6:67 Jeshu said to the twelve, Do you also will to go?

 6:67 And Jesus said to the twelve: Are ye also disposed to go away?

 6:68 Shemun Kipha answered and said, My Lord, unto whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life;

 6:68 Simon Cephas replied, and said: My Lord, to whom shall we go? The words of life eternal are with thee.

 6:69 and we believe and know that thou art the Meshicha, the Son of Aloha the Living.

 6:69 And we believe, and know, that thou art the Messiah, the Son of the living God.

 6:70 Jeshu saith to them, Have I not chosen you twelve, and from you one is Satana?

 6:70 Jesus said to them: Have not I chosen you twelve? Yet one of you is a devil.

 6:71 He spake concerning Jihuda bar Shemun Scarjuta; for he it was who would betray him, one from the twelve.

 6:71 This he spoke of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon; for he was afterwards to betray him, being one of the twelve.
