12:1
But Jeshu six days before the petscha came to Bethania, where Loózar was, he whom Jeshu had raised from among the dead. |
|
12:1
And six days before the passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where was that Lazarus whom Jesus raised from the dead. |
12:2
And they made him there a supper and Martha served, and Loózar was one of those who reclined with him. |
|
12:2
And they made a supper for him there: and Martha served, and Lazarus was one of the guests with him. |
12:3
But Mariam took a vase of balsam of the finest nard, great in price, and anointed the feet of Jeshu, and wiped with her hair his feet, and the house was filled with the fragrance of the balsam. |
|
12:3
And Mary took an alabaster box of perfume of choice spikenard, of great price; and anointed the feet of Jesus; and she wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the odor of the perfume. |
12:4
And Jihuda Scarjuta, one of his disciples, he who would betray him said, |
|
12:4
Then said Judas Iscariot, one of the disciples, he that was about to betray him: |
12:5
Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred dinoreen, and given to the poor? |
|
12:5
Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred denarii, and given to the poor? |
12:6
But this he said, not because for the poor he had care, but because he was a thief, and the purse was with him, and whatever fell into it he carried. |
|
12:6
And this he said, not be cause he cared for the poor, but because he was thief, and held the purse, and carried what was put in it. |
12:7
But Jeshu said, Let her alone. For the day of my burial had she kept it. |
|
12:7
But Jesus said: Let her alone; she hath kept it for the day of my burial. |
12:8
In all time the poor you have with you; but me you have not at all time. |
|
12:8
For the poor are always with you, but I am not with you always. |
12:9
And a great company of Jihudoyee who were there heard Jeshu. And they had come not on Jeshu's account only, but also to see Loózar, he whom he had raised from among the dead. |
|
12:9
And great multitudes of the Jews heard that he was there: and they came, not only on account of Jesus, but also that they might see Lazarus, whom he raised from the dead. |
12:10
But the chief priests were minded to slay Loózar also, |
|
12:10
And the chief priests deliberated about killing even Lazarus: |
12:11
because many of the Jihudoyee on account of him had gone and believed in Jeshu. |
|
12:11
because many of the Jews, on his account, went and believed in Jesus. |
12:12 ¶
THE day after, a great gathering of those who had come to the feast, when they heard that Jeshu was coming to Urishlem, |
|
12:12
And the next day, a great multitude who had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, |
12:13
took branches of palms, and went forth to meet him. And they cried out, saying, Aushana! Blessed is he who cometh in the name of the Lord, the King of Israel. |
|
12:13
took boughs of palm-trees, and went out to meet him. And they cried, and said: Hosanna, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord, the king of Israel! |
12:14
And Jeshu caused to be found an ass, and sat upon him; as it is written, |
|
12:14
And Jesus found an ass, and sat upon it; as it is written |
12:15
Fear not, daughter of Tseun: behold, thy King cometh to thee, and riding on a colt, the foal of an ass. |
|
12:15
Fear not, daughter of Sion. Behold, thy king cometh to thee; and he rideth upon a colt, the foal of an ass. |
12:16
But these the disciples knew not at that time; but when Jeshu was glorified, the disciples remembered that these were written concerning him, and (that) these (things) they had done unto him. |
|
12:16
These things understood not his disciples, at that time; but when Jesus was glorified, then his disciples remembered that these things were written of him, and that they did them to him. |
12:17
But the assembly that was with him when he called Loózar from the sepulchre, and raised him from among the dead, bare witness. |
|
12:17
And the multitude that had been with him, testified that he had called Lazarus from the grave, and raised him from the dead. |
12:18
And on account of this, great multitudes went forth to receive him; for they had heard that this sign he had done. |
|
12:18
And for this reason, great multitudes went out to meet him, as they had heard that he wrought this sign. |
12:19
But the Pharishee said one to another, See you that you do not profit any thing! For, behold, the whole world is gone after him. |
|
12:19
But the Pharisees said, one to another: Do ye see, that ye are gaining nothing? For, lo, the whole world is going after him. |
12:20
Now there were also from the Gentiles men who had ascended to worship at the feast. |
|
12:20
And there were also among the people, some who had come up to worship at the feast. |
12:21
These came and drew near to Philipos, who was of Beth-tsaida of Galila; and they requested of him, and said to him, Mari, we desire to see Jeshu. |
|
12:21
These came, and approached Philip, who was of Bethsaida in Galilee, and said to him: My lord, we are desirous to see Jesus. |
12:22
And Philipos came and told Andreas, and Andreas and Philipos told Jeshu. |
|
12:22
Philip came and told Andrew; and Andrew and Philip told Jesus. |
12:23 ¶
BUT Jeshu answered and said to them, The hour hath come that the Son of man may be glorified. |
|
12:23
And Jesus answered, and said to them: The hour is come that the Son of man should be glorified. |
12:24
Amen, amen, I say to you, That a grain of wheat if it fall not and die in the earth remaineth alone; but if it die, it bringeth much fruits. |
|
12:24
Verily, verily, I say to you, That a kernel of wheat, unless it fall and die in the ground, remaineth alone; but if it die, it produceth numerous fruits. |
12:25
He who loveth his life shall lose it; and he who hateth his life in this world shall keep it to the life which is eternal. |
|
12:25
He that loveth his life, will lose it; and he that hateth his life, in this world, will preserve it unto life everlasting. |
12:26
If any man serve me, let him come after me; and where I am, there shall be also my servant: whoever serveth me, him will my Father honour. |
|
12:26
If any one is servant to me, he will come after me; and where I am, there also will my servant be. Him that serveth me, will the Father honor. |
12:27
Now my soul, behold it is commoved; and what shall I say? My Father, deliver me from this hour: but on account of this have I come unto this hour. |
|
12:27
Behold, now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? My Father, deliver me from this hour? But for this very cause, came I to this hour. |
12:28
Father, glorify thy name. And the voice was heard from heaven, I have glorified, and again I glorify. |
|
12:28
Father, glorify thy name! And a voice was heard from heaven: I have glorified [it]; and I will glorify [it] again. |
12:29
And the company who stood, heard, and they said there was thunder. But others said, An angel spake with him. |
|
12:29
And the multitude standing by, heard [it]; and they said: There was thunder. But others said: An angel spoke with him. |
12:30
Jeshu answered and said to them, Not on my account was this voice, but on your account. |
|
12:30
Jesus answered, and said to them: This voice was not for my sake, but for yours. |
12:31
Now is the judgment of this world; now is the ruler of this world cast out. |
|
12:31
Now is the judgment of this world: now the ruler of this world is cast out. |
12:32
And I, when I have been lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. |
|
12:32
And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to me. |
12:33
But this he said to show by what death he should die. |
|
12:33
And this he said, to show by what manner of death, he was to die. |
12:34
The people said to him, We have heard from the law that the Meshicha for ever abideth: how sayest thou that the Son of man is to be lifted up? Who is this Son of man? |
|
12:34
The multitude said to him: We have heard from the law, that the Messiah abideth for ever: [and] how sayest thou, that the Son of man is to be lifted up? Who is this Son of man? |
12:35
Jeshu saith to them, A little further time is the light with you. Walk while you have the light, that the darkness overtake you not. And whoever walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. |
|
12:35
Jesus said to them: A short time longer, the light is with you. Walk, while ye have the light, lest the darkness overtake you. He that walketh in the dark, knoweth not whither he goeth. |
12:36
While you have the light, believe in the light, that the sons of light you may become. These spake Jeshu, and went (and) concealed himself from them. |
|
12:36
While the light is with you, confide in the light; that ye may be children of the light. These things said Jesus, and departed, and concealed himself from them. |
12:37
Yet though all these signs he had done before them, they believed not in him: |
|
12:37
And although he wrought all these signs before them, they believed him not; |
12:38
that the word of the prophet Eshaia might be fulfilled, who said, My Lord, who hath believed our report, And the arm of the Lord, to whom hath it been revealed? |
|
12:38
that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, who said: My Lord; who hath believed our report? And to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? |
12:39
Because of this they were not able to believe: Wherefore again Eshaia had said, |
|
12:39
For this reason they could not believe, because Isaiah said again: |
12:40
He hath blinded their eyes, And darkened their heart, That they should not see with their eyes, And understand with their heart, And be turned, and I should heal them. |
|
12:40
They have blinded their eyes, and darkened their hearts; that they might not see with their eyes, and understand with their heart, and be converted; and I should heal them. |
12:41
These said Eshaia when he saw his glory, and spake concerning him. |
|
12:41
These things spake Isaiah, when he saw his glory, and spoke of him. |
12:42
Yet of the chiefs also many believed in him: but because of the Pharishee they did not confess, that they might not be put out of the synagogue: |
|
12:42
And of the chiefs also, many believed on him; but on account of the Pharisees, they did not confess [him], lest they should be put out of the synagogue; |
12:43
for they loved the glory of men more than the glory of Aloha. |
|
12:43
for they loved the praise of men, more than the praise of God. |
12:44
But Jeshu cried and said, He who believeth in me, believeth not in me, but in him who sent me. |
|
12:44
And Jesus cried, and said: He that believeth in me, believeth not in me, but in him that sent me. |
12:45
And he who seeth me seeth him who sent me. |
|
12:45
And he that seeth me, seeth him that sent me. |
12:46
I the light am come into the world, that every one who believeth in me might not abide in darkness. |
|
12:46
I have come into the world, a light, that whoever believeth in me, might not abide in darkness. |
12:47
And he who heareth my words, and doth not keep them, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. |
|
12:47
And whoever shall hear my words, and not observe them, I judge him not; for I did not come to judge the world, but to vivify the world. |
12:48
He who rejecteth me, and receiveth not my word, hath that which judgeth him: the word which I speak, that judgeth him in the last day. |
|
12:48
Whoever rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, there is one to judge him; the word which I speak, will judge him, at the last day. |
12:49
For I of myself have not spoken, but the Father who sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, |
|
12:49
For I have not spoken from myself; but the Father who sent me, he gave me commandment, what I should speak, and what I should say. |
12:50
and what I should speak. And I know that his commandments are life everlasting: these therefore which I speak, as said to me my Father, so I speak. |
|
12:50
And I know that his commandment is life eternal. Therefore, these things which I speak, as my Father hath said to me, so I speak. |
