 16:1 These have I spoken with you, that you may not be offended.

 16:1 These things have I said to you, that ye may not be stumbled.

 16:2 They shall cast you out from their synagogues; and the hour cometh when every one who shall kill you will think that a sacrifice he offereth unto Aloha.

 16:2 For they will eject you from their synagogues; and the hour will come, that whoever shall kill you, will suppose that he presenteth an offering to God.

 16:3 And these will they do, because they have not known either my Father or me.

 16:3 And these things will they do, because they have not known either my Father, or me.

 16:4 ¶ THESE have I spoken with you, that when their time hath come you may remember that I told you. But these at first I did not tell you, because with you I was.

 16:4 These things have I spoken to you, that when the time of them cometh, ye may recollect, that I told you of them. And I did not tell you these things from the beginning, because I was with you.

 16:5 But now I go unto Him who sent me; and no man of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?

 16:6 For I have told you these, and sorrow hath come and filled your hearts.

 16:7 But I the truth say to you, That it is needful for you that I go; for if I go not, the Paraclete cometh not to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.

 16:7 But I tell you the truth, that it is profitable for you that I go away; for, if I go not away, the Comforter will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.

 16:8 And when he hath come, he will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment.

 16:13 But when the Spirit of truth shall come, he will lead you into all the truth. For he will not speak from his own mind; but whatever he heareth, that will he speak: and he will make known to you things to come.

 16:14 He will glorify me, because of mine he will take and will show you.

 16:14 He will glorify me; because he will receive of what is mine, and will show [it] to you.

 16:15 All whatever that the Father hath is mine: on this account I have said to you, That of mine he will take, and will show you.

 16:15 Whatever the Father hath, is mine: therefore said I to you that he will receive of what is mine, and will show [it] to you.

 16:16 ¶ A LITTLE (time), and you will not see me; and again a little, and you shall see me, because I go to the Father.

 16:17 And the disciples said one to another, What is this that he saith to us? A little (time), and you will not see me; and again a little (while), and you shall see me, and because I go to my Father.

 16:18 And they said, What is this little (time of) which he hath spoken? We know not what he saith.

 16:19 But Jeshu knew that they sought to ask him; and he said to them, Concerning this do you inquire together that I told you, A little (time), and you will not see me; and again a little, and you shall see me?

 16:19 And Jesus knew, that they desired to ask him; and he said to them: Are ye debating with each other, of what I said to you, A little while, and ye will not see me, and again a little while, and ye will see me?

 16:20 Amen, amen, I tell you, That you will weep and lament, and the world will rejoice; and to you shall be sorrow; but your sorrow shall become joy.

 16:20 Verily, verily, I say to you, That ye will weep and lament: And the world will rejoice, while to you will be sorrow. But your sorrow will be turned to joy.

 16:21 A woman, when she travaileth, hath sorrow, that the day hath come for her giving birth; but when she hath borne a son, she remembereth not her anguish, for joy that a child of man hath been born into the world.

 16:21 A woman, in bringing forth, hath sorrow, for the day of her travail hath come: but when she hath brought forth a son, she remembereth not her anguish, because of the joy that a human being is born into the world.

 16:22 You also now have sorrow; but again I will see you, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.

 16:22 Ye also now have sorrow; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will deprive you of your joy.

 16:23 And in that day you will ask me nothing. Amen, amen, I tell you, That whatsoever you shall ask my Father in my name, he will give you.

 16:23 And in that day ye will ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say to you, That whatsoever ye shall ask of my Father in my name, he will give to you.

 16:24 Hitherto you have not asked any thing in my name: ask, and receive, that your joy may be full.

 16:24 Hitherto ye have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and ye will receive; that your joy may be complete.

 16:25 These in parables I have spoken with you; but the hour cometh when I will not speak with you in parables, but manifestly; and I will announce to you concerning the Father.

 16:25 These things have I spoken to you in allegories: but the hour will come, when I shall not speak to you in allegories, but I will speak to you plainly of the Father.

 16:26 In that day you shall ask in my name; and I say not to you that I will ask of the Father for you;

 16:26 In that day ye will ask in my name; and I do not say to you, that I will pray to the Father for you;

 16:27 for the Father himself loveth you, because you have loved me, and have believed that from the Father I came forth.

 16:28 I came forth from the Father, and came into the world; and again I leave the world, and go unto the Father.

 16:31 ¶ JESHU saith to them, Believe!

 16:32 Behold, the hour shall come, and now cometh, that you will be dispersed (every) man to his place, and you will have left me alone. But I am not alone, because the Father is with me.

 16:32 Behold, the hour cometh, and hath now come, when ye will be dispersed, each to his place; and ye will leave me alone. But I am not alone, for the Father is with me.

 16:33 These have I said to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you shall have distress; but be of heart, I have conquered the world.

 16:33 These things have I said to you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye will have trouble: but, take courage, I have vanquished the world.
