Zechariah 8

1 The restoration of Jerusalem. 9 They are encouraged to the building by God's favour to them. 16 Good works are required of them. 18 Joy and enlargement are promised.

 8:1 Then the word 1697 of the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635 came 1961, saying 559,

 8:2 “Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635, ‘I am exceedingly 1419 jealous 7065 for Zion 6726, yes, with great 1419 wrath 2534 I am jealous 7065 for her.’

 8:3 “Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068, ‘I will return 7725 to Zion 6726 and will dwell 7931 in the midst 8432 of Jerusalem 3389. Then Jerusalem 3389 will be called 7121 the City 5892b of Truth 571, and the mountain 2022 of the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635 [will be called] the Holy 6944 Mountain 2022.’

 8:4 “Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635, ‘Old 2205 men 2205 and old 2205 women 2205 will again 5750 sit 3427 in the streets 7339 of Jerusalem 3389, each 376 man 376 with his staff 4938b in his hand 3027 because 4480 of age 7230 3117.

 8:5 ‘And the streets 7339 of the city 5892b will be filled 4390 with boys 3206 and girls 3207 playing 7832 in its streets 7339.’

 8:6 “Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635, ‘If 3588 it is too 6381 difficult 6381 in the sight 5869 of the remnant 7611 of this 2088 people 5971a in those 1992a days 3117, will it also 1571 be too 6381 difficult 6381 in My sight 5869?’ declares 5002 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635.

 8:7 “Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635, ‘Behold 2009, I am going to save 3467 My people 5971a from the land 776 of the east 4217 and from the land 776 of the west 3996 8121;

 8:8 and I will bring 935 them [back] and they will live 7931 in the midst 8432 of Jerusalem 3389; and they shall be My people 5971a, and I will be their God 430 in truth 571 and righteousness 6666.’

 8:9 ¶ “Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635, ‘Let your hands 3027 be strong 2388, you who are listening 8085 in these 428 days 3117 to these 428 words 1697 from the mouth 6310 of the prophets 5030, [those] who 834 [spoke] in the day 3117 that the foundation 3245 of the house 1004 of the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635 was laid 3245, to the end that the temple 1964 might be built 1129.

 8:10 ‘For before 6440 those 1992a days 3117 there was no 3808 wage 7939 for man 120 or any wage 7939 for animal 929; and for him who went 3318 out or came 935 in there 369 was no 3808 peace 7965 because 4480 of his enemies 6862c, and I set 7971 all 3605 men 120 one 376 against another 7453.

 8:11 ‘But now 6258 I will not treat the remnant 7611 of this 2088 people 5971a as in the former 7223 days 3117,’ declares 5002 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635.

 8:12 ‘For [there will be] peace 7965 for the seed 2233: the vine 1612 will yield 5414 its fruit 6529, the land 776 will yield 5414 its produce 2981 and the heavens 8064 will give 5414 their dew 2919; and I will cause the remnant 7611 of this 2088 people 5971a to inherit 5157 all 3605 these 428 [things].

 8:13 ‘It will come 1961 about that just 3512c as you were a curse 7045 among the nations 1471, O house 1004 of Judah 3063 and house 1004 of Israel 3478, so 3651 I will save 3467 you that you may become 1961 a blessing 1293. Do not fear 3372a; let your hands 3027 be strong 2388.’

 8:14 ¶ “For thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635, ‘Just 3512c as I purposed 2161 to do 7489a harm 7489a to you when your fathers 1 provoked 7107 Me to wrath 7107,’ says 559 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635, ‘and I have not relented 5162,

 8:15 so 3651 I have again 7725 purposed 2161 in these 428 days 3117 to do 3190 good 3190 to Jerusalem 3389 and to the house 1004 of Judah 3063. Do not fear 3372a!

 8:16 ‘These 428 are the things 1697 which 834 you should do 6213a: speak 1696 the truth 571 to one 376 another 7453; judge 8199 with truth 571 and judgment 4941 for peace 7965 in your gates 8179.

 8:17 ‘Also let none 376 408 of you devise 2803 evil 7463a in your heart 3824 against another 7453, and do not love 157 perjury 7621 8267; for all 3605 these 428 are what 834 I hate 8130,’ declares 5002 the LORD 3068.”

 8:18 ¶ Then the word 1697 of the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635 came 1961 to me, saying 559,

 8:19 “Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635, ‘The fast 6685 of the fourth 7243, the fast 6685 of the fifth 2549, the fast 6685 of the seventh 7637 and the fast 6685 of the tenth 6224 [months] will become 1961 joy 8342, gladness 8057, and cheerful 2896a feasts 4150 for the house 1004 of Judah 3063; so love 157 truth 571 and peace 7965.’

 8:20 ¶ “Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635, ‘[It will] yet 5750 [be] that peoples 5971a will come 935, even the inhabitants 3427 of many 7227a cities 5892b.

 8:21 ‘The inhabitants 3427 of one 259 will go 1980 to another 259, saying 559, “Let us go 1980 at once 1980 to entreat 2470b the favor 2470b 6440 of the LORD 3068, and to seek 1245 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635; I will also 1571 go 1980.”

 8:22 ‘So many 7227a peoples 5971a and mighty 6099 nations 1471 will come 935 to seek 1245 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635 in Jerusalem 3389 and to entreat 2470b the favor 2470b 6440 of the LORD 3068.’

 8:23 “Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635, ‘In those 1992a days 3117 ten 6235 men 376 from all 3605 the nations 1471 will grasp 2388 the garment 3671 of a Jew 3064, saying 559, “Let us go 1980 with you, for we have heard 8085 that God 430 is with you.”’”
