1 Corinthians 4

1 In what account the ministers ought to be had. 7 We have nothing which we have not received. 9 The Apostles spectacles to the world, angels, and men, 13 the filth and offscouring of the world: 15 yet our fathers in Christ, 16 whom we ought to follow.

 4:1 Let a man 444 regard 3049 us in this 3779 manner 3779, as servants 5257 of Christ 5547 and stewards 3623 of the mysteries 3466 of God 2316.

 4:2 In this 5602 case 5602, moreover 3062, it is required 523 of stewards 3623 that one 5100 be found 2147 trustworthy 4103.

 4:3 But to me it is a very 1646 small 1646 thing 1646 that I may be examined 350 by you, or 2228 by [any] human 442 court 2250; in fact 235, I do not even 3761 examine 350 myself 1683.

 4:4 For I am 4924a conscious 4924a of nothing 3762 against myself 1683, yet 235 I am not by this 3778 acquitted 1344; but the one who examines 350 me is the Lord 2962.

 4:5 Therefore 5620 do not go on passing 2919 judgment 2919 before 4253 the time 2540, [but wait] until 2193 the Lord 2962 comes 2064 who 3739 will both 2532 bring 5461 to light 5461 the things 2927 hidden 2927 in the darkness 4655 and disclose 5319 the motives 1012 of [men’s] hearts 2588; and then 5119 each 1538 man’s 1538 praise 1868 will come 1096 to him from God 2316.

 4:6 ¶ Now 1161 these 3778 things 3778, brethren 80, I have figuratively 3345 applied 3345 to myself 1683 and Apollos 625 for your sakes 1223, so 2443 that in us you may learn 3129 not to exceed 5228 what 3739 is written 1125, so 2443 that no 3361 one 1520 of you will become arrogant 5448 in behalf 5228 of one 1520 against 2596 the other 2087.

 4:7 For who 5101 regards 1252 you as superior 1252? What 5101 do you have 2192 that you did not receive 2983? And if 1487 you did receive 2983 it, why 5101 do you boast 2744 as if 5613 you had not received 2983 it?

 4:8 ¶ You are already 2235 filled 2880, you have already 2235 become 4147 rich 4147, you have become 936 kings 936 without 5565 us; and indeed 1065, [I] wish 3785 that you had become 936 kings 936 so 2443 that we also 2532 might reign 4821 with you.

 4:9 For, I think 1380, God 2316 has exhibited 584 us apostles 652 last 2078 of all 2078, as men 1935 condemned 1935 to death 1935; because 3754 we have become 1096 a spectacle 2302 to the world 2889, both 2532 to angels 32a and to men 444.

 4:10 We are fools 3474 for Christ’s 5547 sake 1223, but you are prudent 5429 in Christ 5547; we are weak 772, but you are strong 2478; you are distinguished 1741, but we are without 820 honor 820.

 4:11 To this 3588 present 737 hour 5610 we are both 2532 hungry 3983 and thirsty 1372, and are poorly 1130 clothed 1130, and are roughly 2852 treated 2852, and are homeless 790;

 4:12 and we toil 2872, working 2038b with our own 2398 hands 5495; when we are reviled 3058, we bless 2127; when we are persecuted 1377, we endure 430;

 4:13 when we are slandered 1426a, we try to conciliate 3870; we have become 1096 as the scum 4027 of the world 2889, the dregs 4067 of all 3956 things 3956, [even] until 2193 now 737.

 4:14 ¶ I do not write 1125 these 3778 things 3778 to shame 1788 you, but to admonish 3560 you as my beloved 27 children 5043.

 4:15 For if 1437 you were to have 2192 countless 3463 tutors 3807 in Christ 5547, yet 235 [you would] not [have] many 4183 fathers 3962, for in Christ 5547 Jesus 2424 I became 1080 your father 1080 through 1223 the gospel 2098.

 4:16 Therefore 3767 I exhort 3870 you, be imitators 3402 of me.

 4:17 For this 3778 reason 1223 I have sent 3992 to you Timothy 5095, who 3739 is my beloved 27 and faithful 4103 child 5043 in the Lord 2962, and he will remind 363 you of my ways 3598 which are in Christ 5547, just 2531a as I teach 1321 everywhere 3837 in every 3956 church 1577.

 4:18 Now 1161 some 5100 have become arrogant 5448, as though 5613 I were not coming 2064 to you.

 4:19 But I will come 2064 to you soon 5030, if 1437 the Lord 2962 wills 2309, and I shall find 1097 out, not the words 3056 of those 3588 who are arrogant 5448 but their power 1411.

 4:20 For the kingdom 932 of God 2316 does not consist in words 3056 but in power 1411.

 4:21 What 5101 do you desire 2309? Shall I come 2064 to you with a rod 4464, or 2228 with love 26 and a spirit 4151 of gentleness 4240?
