1 Corinthians 12

1 Spiritual gifts 4 are divers, 7 yet all to profit withal. 8 And to that end are diversely bestowed: 12 that by the like proportion, as the members of a natural body, tend all to the 16 mutual decency, 22 service, and 26 succour of the same body; 27 so we should do one for another, to make up the mystical body of Christ.

 12:1 Now 1161 concerning 4012 spiritual 4152 [gifts], brethren 80, I do not want 2309 you to be unaware 50.

 12:2 You know 3609a that when 3753 you were pagans 1484, [you were] led 520 astray 520 to the mute 880 idols 1497, however 5613 302 you were led 71.

 12:3 Therefore 1352 I make 1107 known 1107 to you that no 3762 one 3762 speaking 2980 by the Spirit 4151 of God 2316 says 3004, “Jesus 2424 is accursed 331”; and no 3762 one 3762 can 1410 say 3004, “Jesus 2424 is Lord 2962,” except 1508 by the Holy 40 Spirit 4151.

 12:4 ¶ Now 1161 there are varieties 1243 of gifts 5486, but the same 846 Spirit 4151.

 12:5 And there are varieties 1243 of ministries 1248, and the same 846 Lord 2962.

 12:6 There are varieties 1243 of effects 1755, but the same 846 God 2316 who works 1754 all 3956 things 3956 in all 3956 [persons].

 12:7 But to each 1538 one 1538 is given 1325 the manifestation 5321 of the Spirit 4151 for the common 4851a good 4851a.

 12:8 For to one 3739 3303a is given 1325 the word 3056 of wisdom 4678 through 1223 the Spirit 4151, and to another 243 the word 3056 of knowledge 1108 according 2596 to the same 846 Spirit 4151;

 12:9 to another 2087 faith 4102 by the same 846 Spirit 4151, and to another 243 gifts 5486 of healing 2386 by the one 1520 Spirit 4151,

 12:10 and to another 243 the effecting 1755 of miracles 1411, and to another 243 prophecy 4394, and to another 243 the distinguishing 1253 of spirits 4151, to another 2087 [various] kinds 1085 of tongues 1100, and to another 243 the interpretation 2058 of tongues 1100.

 12:11 But one 1520 and the same 846 Spirit 4151 works 1754 all 3956 these 3778 things 3778, distributing 1244 to each 1538 one 1538 individually 2398 just 2531a as He wills 1014.

 12:12 ¶ For even 2509 as the body 4983 is one 1520 and [yet] has 2192 many 4183 members 3196, and all 3956 the members 3196 of the body 4983, though they are many 4183, are one 1520 body 4983, so 3779 also 2532 is Christ 5547.

 12:13 For by one 1520 Spirit 4151 we were all 3956 baptized 907 into one 1520 body 4983, whether 1535a Jews 2453 or 1535a Greeks 1672, whether 1535a slaves 1401 or 1535a free 1658, and we were all 3956 made 4222 to drink 4222 of one 1520 Spirit 4151.

 12:14 ¶ For the body 4983 is not one 1520 member 3196, but many 4183.

 12:15 If 1437 the foot 4228 says 3004, “Because 3754 I am 1510 not a hand 5495, I am 1510 not [a part] of the body 4983,” it is not for this 3778 reason 3844 any 3756 the less 3756 [a part] of the body 4983.

 12:16 And if 1437 the ear 3775 says 3004, “Because 3754 I am 1510 not an eye 3788, I am 1510 not [a part] of the body 4983,” it is not for this 3778 reason 3844 any 3756 the less 3756 [a part] of the body 4983.

 12:17 If 1487 the whole 3650 body 4983 were an eye 3788, where 4226 would the hearing 189 be? If 1487 the whole 3650 were hearing 189, where 4226 would the sense 3750 of smell 3750 be?

 12:18 But now 3568 God 2316 has placed 5087 the members 3196, each 1538 one 1520 of them, in the body 4983, just 2531a as He desired 2309.

 12:19 If 1487 they were all 3956 one 1520 member 3196, where 4226 would the body 4983 be?

 12:20 But now 3568 there are many 4183 members 3196, but one 1520 body 4983.

 12:21 And the eye 3788 cannot 1410 3756 say 3004 to the hand 5495, “I have 2192 no 3756 need 5532 of you”; or 2228 again 3825 the head 2776 to the feet 4228, “I have 2192 no 3756 need 5532 of you.”

 12:22 On the contrary 235, it is much 4183 truer 3123 that the members 3196 of the body 4983 which seem 1380 to be weaker 772 are necessary 316;

 12:23 and those [members] of the body 4983 which 3739 we deem 1380 less 820 honorable 820, on these 3778 we bestow 4060 more 4053 abundant 4053 honor 5092, and our less 820 presentable 809 members become 2192 much 4053 more 4053 presentable 2157,

 12:24 whereas 1161 our more 4053 presentable 2158 members have 2192 no 3756 need 5532 [of it]. But God 2316 has [so] composed 4786 the body 4983, giving 1325 more 4053 abundant 4053 honor 5092 to that [member] which lacked 5302,

 12:25 so 2443 that there may be no 3361 division 4978 in the body 4983, but [that] the members 3196 may have 3309 the same 846 care 3309 for one 240 another 240.

 12:26 And if 1535a one 1520 member 3196 suffers 3958, all 3956 the members 3196 suffer 4841 with it; if 1535a [one] member 3196 is honored 1392, all 3956 the members 3196 rejoice 4796 with it.

 12:27 ¶ Now 1161 you are Christ’s 5547 body 4983, and individually 3313 members 3196 of it.

 12:28 And God 2316 has appointed 5087 in the church 1577, first 4413 apostles 652, second 1208 prophets 4396, third 5154 teachers 1320, then 1899 miracles 1411, then 1899 gifts 5486 of healings 2386, helps 484, administrations 2941, [various] kinds 1085 of tongues 1100.

 12:29 All 3956 are not apostles 652, are they? All 3956 are not prophets 4396, are they? All 3956 are not teachers 1320, are they? All 3956 are not [workers of] miracles 1411, are they?

 12:30 All 3956 do not have 2192 gifts 5486 of healings 2386, do they? All 3956 do not speak 2980 with tongues 1100, do they? All 3956 do not interpret 1329, do they?

 12:31 But earnestly 2206 desire 2206 the greater 3173 gifts 5486. ¶ And I show 1166 you a still 2089 more 5236 excellent 5236 way 3598.
