 1:1 ¶ The word° of Yähwè יָהוֶה° that° came° unto° Hôšëå` הוֹשֵׁעַ,° the son° of Bæ´ërî בְּאֵרִי,° in the days° of `Uzziyyà עֻזִּיָּה,° Yôŧäm יוֹתָם,° ´Äçäz אָחָז,° [and] Çizkiyyà חִזקִיָּה,° kings° of Yæhûđà יְהוּדָה,° and in the days° of Yorov`äm יָרָבעָם° the son° of Yô´äš יוֹאָשׁ,° king° of Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל.°

 1:1 ¶ The word of Yahweh that came unto Hoshea, the son of Beeri, in the days of Uzziyyah, Yotham, Achaz, [and] Chizqiyyah, kings of Yehudah, and in the days of Yorovam the son of Yoash, king of Yisrael.

 1:2 The beginning° of the word°° of Yähwè יָהוֶה° by Hôšëå` הוֹשֵׁעַ.° And Yähwè יָהוֶה° said°° to° Hôšëå` הוֹשֵׁעַ,° Go,°°° take°° unto thee a wife° of whoredoms° and children° of whoredoms:° for° the land° hath committed great°° whoredom,°° [departing] from°° Yähwè יָהוֶה.°

 1:2 The beginning of the word of Yahweh by Hoshea. And Yahweh said to Hoshea, Go, take unto thee a wife of whoredoms and children of whoredoms: for the land hath committed great whoredom, [departing] from Yahweh.

 1:3 So he went°°° and took°°° Gömer גֹּמֶר° the daughter° of Divläyim דִּבלָיִם;° which conceived,°° and bare°° him a son.°

 1:3 So he went and took Gomer the daughter of Divlayim; which conceived, and bare him a son.

 1:4 And Yähwè יָהוֶה° said°° unto° him, Call°° his name° Yizræ`e´l יִזרְעֶאל;° for° yet° a little° [while], and I will avenge°°° the blood° of Yizræ`e´l יִזרְעֶאל° upon° the house° of Yëhû´ יֵהוּא,° and will cause to cease°° the kingdom° of the house° of Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל.°

 1:4 And Yahweh said unto him, Call his name Yizreel; for yet a little [while], and I will avenge the blood of Yizreel upon the house of Yehu, and will cause to cease the kingdom of the house of Yisrael.

 1:5 And it shall come to pass° at that° day,° that I will break°°° the bow° of Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל° in the valley° of Yizræ`e´l יִזרְעֶאל.°

 1:5 And it shall come to pass at that day, that I will break the bow of Yisrael in the valley of Yizreel.

 1:6 ¶ And she conceived° again,°°° and bare°° a daughter.° And [Yähwè יָהוֶה] said°° unto him, Call°° her name° Lö´ Ruçämà לֹא־רֻחָמָה:°° for° I will no° more°°° have mercy°° upon°° the house° of Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל;° but° I will utterly°° take them away.°°

 1:6 ¶ And she conceived again, and bare a daughter. And [Yahweh] said unto him, Call her name Lo-Ruchamah: for I will no more have mercy upon the house of Yisrael; but I will utterly take them away.

 1:7 But I will have mercy°° upon° the house° of Yæhûđà יְהוּדָה,° and will save°° them by Yähwè יָהוֶה° their ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים,° and will not° save°° them by bow,° nor by sword,° nor by battle,° by horses,° nor by horsemen.°

 1:7 But I will have mercy upon the house of Yehudah, and will save them by Yahweh their Elohim, and will not save them by bow, nor by sword, nor by battle, by horses, nor by horsemen.

 1:8 ¶ Now when she had weaned°°° Lö´ Ruçämà לֹא־רֻחָמָה,°° she conceived,°° and bare°° a son.°

 1:8 ¶ Now when she had weaned Lo-Ruchamah, she conceived, and bare a son.

 1:9 Then said°° [Yähwè יָהוֶה], Call°° his name° Lö´ `Ammî לֹא־עַמִּי:° for° ye° [are] not° my people,° and I° will not° be° your [´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים].

 1:9 Then said [Yahweh], Call his name Lo-Ammi: for ye [are] not my people, and I will not be your [Elohim].

 1:10 ¶ Yet the number° of the children° of Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל° shall be° as the sand° of the sea,° which° cannot° be measured°° nor° numbered;°° and it shall come to pass,° [that] in the place° where° it was said°° unto them, Ye° [are] not° my people,° [there] it shall be said°° unto them, [Ye are] the sons° of the living° ´Ël אֵל.°

 1:10 ¶ Yet the number of the children of Yisrael shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, [that] in the place where it was said unto them, Ye [are] not my people, [there] it shall be said unto them, [Ye are] the sons of the living El.

 1:11 Then shall the children° of Yæhûđà יְהוּדָה° and the children° of Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל° be gathered°° together,°° and appoint°° themselves one° head,° and they shall come up°° out of° the land:° for° great° [shall be] the day° of Yizræ`e´l יִזרְעֶאל.°

 1:11 Then shall the children of Yehudah and the children of Yisrael be gathered together, and appoint themselves one head, and they shall come up out of the land: for great [shall be] the day of Yizreel.
